Gate Hunters

Chapter #8 New/ Fulfilment

So, getting bigger was the point of that scream.

How remarkable, let's see if I can destroy it with one kick from the heavens.

My entire body was engulfed in white flames as I soared into the sky.

Once positioned with the sun behind me, the sea snake stretched itself out, appearing more intimidating.

An attempt was made to target me with a compressed water cannon; however, the assault instantly vaporized into steam upon contact with my aura.

"I had forgotten about you," I declared, unfurling my white, flame-like wings in front of the smaller being.

Unleashing a barrage of flaming arrows upon the serpents, followed by detonating the snipers concealed beneath the water's surface.

The distraction was effective, and I found myself consumed entirely once more. "How dull. To think that I could have been amused if some effort was made." The wings that had unfurled now folded back into my aura.

I conjured a pillar of flame through the snake's inner mouth, creating an exit. I flew out of the opening and was greeted by the scent of fresh air.

Gathering as much speed as I could, I circled back towards the sea snake and executed my signature move: flaming flying kick with the velocity of a jet.

"Blazing Departure." V would be proud.

Giving it a name sounded appropriate given how frequently I use this attack.

The results were as followed, the first gate was completed in under ten minutes.

The boss needed to know that increasing its size will never ensure its victory.

Rather it should have tried remaining underwater.

Anything that comes into contact with the Messiah's flames receives burns hotter than the sun, unless the heat is intentionally reduced to an intensity weaker than fire.

Water Gates or Wind Gifts are my sole vulnerabilities, as my flames can be extinguished by a strong water source or a powerful gust.

Today's raid has awakened in me a longing for genuine combat. A battle that draws my blood, challenges me to deploy my latent abilities, tests my survival instinct, and ultimately, a battle that demonstrates even Gods can fall if they lack caution.

My dual identities are in harmony. The former, known as the cog among self-proclaimed gods, and the latter, the reborn Phoenix, marked by sin.

...

Sometimes I wonder, how do I sleep at night knowing that I killed my entire family in cold blood.

...

Expect for one...my younger brother still remains.
