Gate Hunters

Chapter #4 Raiding trio

With numerous gates opening worldwide, we hunters have devised a strategy for conducting our raids. Each raid is designed to include three teams: Attackers, Defenders, and Support.

The attackers are responsible for fighting the monsters and keeping them busy.

Defenders are responsible for ensuring the safety of both the support team and the attackers.

Support roles have two main functions: they can either heal and enhance attackers/defenders with their positive abilities, or they can gather valuable resources that will subsequently be sold to the guild or resource banks.

This town has only twenty known gifted, but given my clan owns this section of the land. Nobody is allowed to raid without our permission.

To which, most of the time we allow them as long as we receive an eighty percent of the income. Fail to do so and our tracker unit will find who you are and depending on the shades of the Gates. We either relocate you or demand the tax.

The raid was quite straightforward: I took on the role of the attacker, Kira served as the defender, and V was in charge of gathering resources.

"Kira, failure isn't an option. And V, make sure you collect only the useful resources." I commanded

Kira performed a knightly kneel before me with her blade buried into the ground, "As you command my lord. I will defend like my life depends on it."

I gently tap each of her shoulders with my sword before saying, "I trust your word."

As for V, "Understood Julius, I have your back best buddy." He saluted with far too much energy that it was annoying to look at.

I sighed before pinching between my eyes, "This damn ape." I muttered.

This Gate was a merger, featuring not just a desert but also a fully-grown jungle environment scattered throughout.

Our exploration was abruptly halted when a humanoid snake creature leaped out of the sand and tried to attack me. I wasn't even bother by it since Kira was already readying herself to slash it. Once her blade made contact and effectively killed the creature, more arrived underground or even by the trees.

I shifted my focus to V, flashing a confident smile. "You are about to witness a level of greatness that only an ape dares to behold," I declared. With those words, I unsheathed my sword.

Kira and I stood back-to-back, vigilantly watching our surroundings with our blades gripped tightly.

Kira wasn't a gifted nor a hunter, but due to the resources found in Gates and skilled craftsmen. She could wield a sword that had the fire elemental.

I was different. I wield a powerful innate ability called Messiah. Primarily meant for healing, but I soon discovered the Messiah second attacking branch.

The first wave of snakes came charging towards us to which, we attacked in synchronisation.

This wasn't the first time we fought at each other sides. She knew when to support and when to dodge from my assistance. In other words, she completely adapted to me.

In the background, V was cheering us on. Which was a good source of positive energy.

In the midst of battle, a wing spider rammed me to the sky and tried to follow up with an attack.

Sadly, my wings were not only larger but also too pure to be consumed by it, "Malice." I quickly extended my right finger towards its head and unleashed a blue fireball.

The creature not only blow up but provided me with information on where the rest was.

I soared higher into the sky and found the rest by the summit.

A vast network of webs stretched out, teeming with countless winged spiders roaming freely. There was a queen, encircled by dozens of nests.

I thought to myself that I never got the chance to use that attack on V. My entire body glow in a calm white aura, my right pointy finger was pointed towards the nest, "I WIL TURN YOU ALL TO DUST! MAXIMUM MALICE!" a gigantic ball of blue flames gather by my fingertip.

One strong release, the nuke destroyed the entire nest. I made sure that blast radius was only by the summit.

I flew back down and found Kira gracefully kneeling with her sword driven onto the ground. All the snake creatures where slain expect for one which was badly wounded.

As I dropped in front of Kira, "Congratulations, you never disappoint. For that, you are free to purchase something that pleases you." I said as I gently lift her to her feet.

V appeared out of my shadow standing between us, "I got the resources tuck away in my shadow best buddy." He ruined out moment.

"Anyways, let leave already." With that snake so badly wounded, it will die by tonight.

Depending on the amount of resources V has in his shadow. I might be able to buy Kira a raiding uniform.
