Chapter #2 loss
Combat between two gifted individuals focuses on two core strategies: the first is to use abilities that are naturally stronger against the opponent's elemental type. For example, fire is stronger than plant, and earth is weaker to water, and so on. The stronger element receives a 2.5x attack boost, while the weaker one suffers a 2.5x reduction in their durability.
The second method involves psychological manipulations that cause your opponent's negative gift energy to surpass their limit while their positive gift energy drops to zero. This shatters your opponent's control over you, leading to a blockage of their energy due to a state of hopelessness. Moreover, negative gifts inflict five times more damage on those whose control has been shattered.
With this duel I intend to win under ten seconds.
The entire class had gathered to witness this lopsided duel. "As the supervisor, I hereby declare the commencement of the battle between Julius Godfrey and V Walker," was announced by William.
William got out of the arena so he wouldn't get hit by the crossfire.
I casually walked toward him, ready to engulf him in my blue flames. "I want you all to understand what it means to—" In what felt like an instant, he suddenly appeared in front of me.
"Boo!" he playfully responded before throwing a punch that I easily caught.
The crowd was gasping by what just happened.
"My negative and positive gift is the control of shadows," he explained, taking a few steps back.
I understand his intentions and I refuse to let him triumph in this psychological battle.
Pointing my finger towards his head, I declared, "Lucky shot. Malice." I released a compressed blue orb at point-blank range, but he dodged just in time.
No matter what, I need to stay in control and make sure my control doesn't get shattered.
V stepped forward and swung his fist, which I blocked, ready to retaliate. However, my attack phased through his head. Seizing the opportunity, V opened a shadow portal from his stomach, allowing a shadowy arm to punch me in the stomach.
The shadow was a clone of V. It emerged from his body and launched an attack while simultaneously V continued his assaults against me.
Left with no opening, I continued to dodge their attacks. "Are you not confident in your own attack that you resort to using a clone?" I said confidently.
Just as I was about to get ready to counter, I was suddenly caught in a full Nelson. "Wait, what—" I turned around to find another shadowy figure of V gripping me tightly.
As I turned back to V, who was poised in a gathering stance, his right hand was enveloped in a sinister black aura. "Dark Departure," he announced, swinging his fist charged with negative energy that struck my chest.
This pain was something I never felt before.
I dropped to one knee after the shadows released me, my body still reeling from the aftereffects. Looking up, I saw his eyes, "Looks like someone owes a girl an apology." He was looking down to a Godfrey...to a God.
I rose back to my feet with one furious look on my face. My hand was pointed towards him and right behind him was a group of learners, "You good damn monkey. It wouldn't be wise to dodge this. Maximum MALICE" a gigantic nuke ball of blue fire continued to grow.
Until a faithful servant emerged before me, "This is unwise, young master," said my maid, Kira.
I stopped the attack feeling dissatisfied, "You ruined my fun." I said
She executed a brief bow, "Forgive me, but I acted in the best interest of your family." Someone took my advice and trimmed her untidy purple hair.
I sighed and turned to V, "Next time, I will win. Let's go, Kira." Together, Kira and I left the area.
The moment we left, I could hear the cheers and celebration from the mass of teenage.
"Is something the matter, young lord?" she inquired, her emerald eyes gazing at me with a trace of concern.
I turned to her and said, "Something about his aura... it enrages me."
