Game Overlord: Conqueror of Worlds

Chapter 56: Lady Ember?

Chapter 56: Lady Ember?

Leon found a seat, took a sip of his drink, and quickly put the cup down. His face turned red as he covered his mouth. After drinking that cup, he felt a scorching sensation rising from his stomach to his mouth, almost as if he were about to spew fire. At the same time, his soul felt as though it had been burned, and the soul fragments deeply hidden within him began to melt slightly.

This was completely different from the sensation he had experienced last time; it didn't bring the same comfortable feeling to his entire body.

Leon now understood why the owner had suggested that magical mercury would suit him better. This kind of drink seemed intended for players with fire or related attributes. What he needed was a drink with shadow attributes.

Leon hesitated, holding the cup in his hand. He thought about buying another one but was reluctant to part with the drink he already had.

While Leon was hesitating, the bar door opened again, and light footsteps approached from the entrance.

Looking in the direction of the footsteps, Leon noticed a familiar figure walking toward the bar. It was none other than Ember, who was supposed to still be in the Storm Isles.

However, Ember looked somewhat different from her time in the Storm Isles. Though she still wore the same little girl's attire, her hair was no longer red but a black color with a red glow.

Behind her floated a small red mech about the size of a fist. Though it wasn't large, it was intricately designed, with detailed engravings all over its body. The most striking feature was the shield and lance strapped to its back, and two curved blades hanging from its waist.

The head of the mech was also something Leon recognized; it resembled a wild boar's head, with tusks glowing like molten lava, giving off an aura of violence.

After reaching the bar, Ember restrained her temper and softly ordered a drink. Then she pulled out a note and seemed to be discussing something with the owner.

The owner nodded occasionally, apparently agreeing with Ember's thoughts, and eventually handed her a sheet of paper to fill out.

Leon recognized this form as well. Last time, Lucian Yorren had handed him a similar document to fill out, though what Leon had written was far more elaborate than what Ember was currently jotting down.

After Ember finished filling out the form, she didn’t sit down to drink but waited for the owner’s approval.

Only when the owner nodded in satisfaction did Ember breathe a sigh of relief. She picked up the cup from the bar and was about to find a seat.

However, when Ember turned her head, she froze. Her eyes revealed a look of utter disbelief because she saw Leon sitting in a booth, drinking.

After a long pause, Ember picked up her glass and hesitantly approached Leon's booth, asking, "Hey—no, you're called Leon, right? Leon, what are you doing here?"

"As you can see, I'm here drinking. But the question is, Senior Ember, why are you here? Shouldn't you be in the Storm Isles right now?" Leon had no intention of revealing his identity and instead shifted the question.

Ember wasn’t bothered by Leon's evasion. Instead, she smiled, "Leon, you haven't been paying attention to the time, have you? It's been ten days since you left the Storm Isles. I've already completed my plans and found the relic left by my ancestor, the Seven Knights I Prototype—Adrian Solis."

As she spoke, Ember pointed to the small mech floating behind her, then added proudly, "I also took advantage of the terrain at the Princess Tomb to complete my job advancement. I'm now officially a Level 1 (0-star) player, and since I obtained my ancestor’s prototype, I’m recognized as a player with the potential to reach Level 3. That gives me the right to enter this bar."

After taking a sip from her glass, Ember asked, "So, what about you, Leon? As far as I know, there’s no Leon family among the prominent families in Sun City, and you're not even Level 1 yet. How did you get here?"

Faced with the question once again, Leon hesitated before slowly saying, "I got a game name, so now I can sit here."

Hearing such a simple answer, Ember almost wanted to throw her drink at him. So many people in Sun City were working tirelessly for a game name and couldn't obtain one, yet here Leon, a student player who hadn't even reached Level 1, was sitting in front of her and casually saying, "I got a game name, so now I can sit here."

Ember believed that not just her, but every player in the bar would have the same reaction upon hearing those words.

However, Ember didn’t dare to do anything to Leon. Just as she knew, even though she had obtained her ancestor's prototype and successfully advanced, she could only confidently say that she had the potential to reach Level 3. As for Level 4, that was a distant hope.

Luckily, Ember quickly suppressed her emotions and asked politely, "So, what brings you here?"

"I've been busy for a while and wanted to relax with a drink. Also, there are some things I got from the Storm Isles that I might not need, so I came to see if I could trade them for something better," Leon stated his purpose plainly.

"Oh, looks like you had a good haul in the Storm Isles. Well, that makes sense. The Storm Isles was originally a Level 3, nearly Level 4 map, but because the map was downgraded, most of the valuable items were lost. Still, if you're willing to search, there are plenty of hidden treasures to be found," Ember nodded, adding, "Can I see what you got?"

Without saying much, Leon placed the [Battle Curved Blade (Greenvine)] on the table.

Looking at the properties of the Battle Curved Blade, Ember sighed, "If this were a [Battle Curved Blade (Adrian Solis)], I might have bought it no matter the cost, but this one's (Greenvine). You know..."

Leon nodded, "I know. That's why I wasn’t planning to recommend this weapon to you. But I thought since most of the players here are already Level 3, they probably have their own bloodlines. Even if they don’t have a mech like yours, there must be a few Giant bloodlines among them, right? This weapon is still pretty good, so I think someone will want it."

Ember was speechless at Leon’s response, but she had to admit that everything he said was true. As Leon mentioned, this was indeed a good item. Among the many players in Sun City, there were bound to be some who used the Giant bloodline.

The attributes and effects of this Battle Curved Blade were excellent. Even those who already had a primary weapon would likely consider getting a backup, so Leon didn’t need to worry about not being able to sell this blade.

Just as Ember was struggling to find a way to continue the conversation, Leon suddenly asked, "Senior Ember, do you plan to release a video of your job advancement?"
