Chapter 95: Chapter 95: The Trickster, Rhaenyra
The next day at noon,
Aemon rode a white deer and led the team along a narrow forest path.
"Your Highness, it's rather quiet around here."
Adrian was worried. No matter how he looked at the surrounding terrain, it appeared dangerous.
Aemon said seriously, "It's okay. We'll be in the valley soon."
"This..."
Adrian opened his mouth to speak.
William rushed out from the side, hugged his neck, and dragged him aside. "Okay, go on your way with peace of mind."
This mountain road is dangerous, of course.
If it weren't dangerous, how could you lure the snake out of its hole?
"Speed up the march. The soldiers are here. Find a place to rest."
Aemon looked around and shouted deliberately.
His plan was simple.
He led 800 people to act as bait and sent Gunthor with 200 people to provide support.
Once the war broke out, Syrax and Gray Shadow would suppress the enemy with firepower from the air.
"It all depends on Rhaenyra's dragon-riding skills."
Aemon looked up at the sky, feeling slightly worried.
Then he thought about it.
Rhaenyra became a dragon rider at age seven, so bullying the weak should be no problem, right?
"Woof, woof, woof..."
Suddenly, the sound of fierce barking dogs appeared.
"Yo, yo!"
The white deer lifted its head and looked at the forests on the high slopes on both sides.
The bushes shook, and hundreds of fierce mountain dogs emerged.
"The dragon is not here. Kill them!"
"For the tribe!"
The mountain clans, wearing animal skins and holding crude weapons, followed closely behind. The number of people was endless, and they descended the hillside densely.
Aemon was not at all panicked and chuckled, "Finally, they are here."
"Everyone, be on guard. The front and back should be in two rows."
Adrian's face turned pale, but he gritted his teeth and gave orders.
As a former knight, his command was above William's.
Boom!
The eight hundred longbowmen were slightly flustered. They were divided into two rows, with four rows in the front and back. They pulled their longbows to aim at both sides.
This formation prevented them from being attacked from both sides.
"Archers, aim at them!"
The mountain clans were not fools, either. The high slopes on both sides were crowded with people who pulled their bows from a high position.
Seeing this, Aemon gave William a look.
"Understood."
William took out a long horn, took a deep breath, and blew it hard.
Woo woo woo —
The sound of the horn echoed in the surrounding mountains and forests, dull and powerful.
"Get ready!"
Without wasting any words, Aemon pulled the reins and rushed out of the formation.
Swish! Swish!
Arrows rained down from both sides in an instant.
The high mountain clans on both sides fell one by one, as did the longbowmen who were not well defended above.
"Stop the silver-haired boy!"
Seeing their advantage, the high mountain clans rushed forward, targeting Aemon, who was riding a white deer.
"Charge!"
Aemon pulled the reins, and the white deer jumped and charged into the chaotic crowd.
He waved his bronze long sword, randomly chopping down several impatient fools.
"Woof, woof, woof..."
Mountain dogs rushed in groups, each with green eyes and drooling mouths.
They were like ferocious wild dogs that had been hungry for half a month.
"Get away!"
Aemon swung his sword left and right, decapitating two dogs that stood up and pounced.
"Yo, yo!"
The white deer shook its antlers, pushed away the crowd blocking the road, and climbed the steep slope.
In a few seconds, it jumped into the bushes where the archers were hiding.
"Oh no, stop the deer!"
"Left, left..."
Those who saw it were panicked, and those who heard it were confused.
A soft, white light flashed like silk, and a man and a deer charged forward.
The white deer charged forward, sending all the blockers flying.
Swish! Swish!
Aemon's smile grew wider, and he swung his sword as fast as lightning, killing people as easily as chopping melons and vegetables.
To the mountain clans, he looked like a bloodthirsty pervert.
If not for the ambush of archers on the high slope, the eight hundred longbowmen on the path would have been able to catch their breath.
They drew their bows and shot arrows, and they were safe for a while.
Boom!
At that moment, the clouds and mist in the sky surged, and a golden dragon burst forth.
"Dragon flame, Syrax!"
The girl's clear voice sounded, filled with indescribable excitement.
"Hiss!"
Syrax roared, and his sturdy body swooped down, spewing thick, orange-yellow flames mixed with gold.
In an instant, the mountains and forests were ablaze.
The mountain clan on the other side of the high slope was caught off guard, swept by the flames, and fell to pieces.
"Dragon flame!"
Rhaenyra lay on the dragon's back, her beautiful eyes shining.
It was her first time riding a dragon in battle, and her heart nearly burst from excitement.
Boom!
Syrax veered off and unleashed the dragon flames again along the high slope.
The hundreds of people in the ambush team were immediately defeated.
Aemon turned his head and saw it. He laughed, "Well done!"
Rhaenyra knew how to ride a dragon.
"Hiss!"
Another sharp dragon roar sounded, and a light gray-white baby dragon emerged from the forest.
It was the gray dragon that had been arranged to fly with Aemon.
"Hey, there's an unexpected gain."
Aemon noticed with his sharp eyes that the gray shadow was holding a mountain spaniel in its mouth.
The greyhound looked just like the black-haired greyhound seen half a month ago, with human-like fear in its eyes.
Snap!
Gray Shadow didn't care; he closed his dragon mouth, bit the prey in two, and swallowed it whole.
"Dragon Flame, Gray Shadow!"
Aemon shouted, trying to command the young dragon.
"Hiss!"
Gray Shadow screamed at the sound. He lowered his head and searched back and forth until he finally found the silver-haired figure riding a white deer.
His vertical pupils flashed with enthusiasm as he flew over the figure's head and circled.
"Oh no, another dragon is coming!"
"It's just a little dragon. Shoot it down."
The Mountain clan wasn't scared yet and had no ill intentions toward the young dragon, which was eight meters long. His arms shook as he pulled the bowstring.
"Dragon flame!"
Aemon's voice was dull and majestic as he spoke in an anxious tone.
"Hiss!"
Gray Shadow shuddered, finally understanding what Aemon meant.
Looking down at the ugly monsters aiming their bows at him, Gray Shadow opened his dragon mouth and formed a two-and-a-half-meter-diameter dragon flame fireball.
Boom!
The fireball fell into the crowd and exploded in an instant.
Black smoke billowed out, and broken limbs flew everywhere.
"This idiot."
Aemon breathed a sigh of relief.
I thought I had to find a way to train the dragon's coordination.
Not understanding at the critical moment can be fatal.
"Hiss!"
Syrax glided at a low altitude, burning the high mountain slopes and small roads. He sprayed dragon flames at the high mountain clans in front of him.
Because of the terrain, the high mountain clans could only turn around and flee in a straight line.
However, they couldn't run as fast as the dragons.
Dragon flames gushed out into the sky, burning hundreds of people in an instant.
After a few detours, the people on fire ran all over the ground, screaming miserably with hideous faces.
Syrax's ferocity was aroused, and his nostrils flared vigorously. He smelled the burning and became greedy.
"Dragon flame, Syrax!"
Rhaenyra hadn't noticed anything unusual yet and was gradually becoming familiar with the rhythm of the battlefield.
"Hiss!"
Syrax suddenly shuddered and stared at the half-cooked corpse. He folded his wings and swooped down.
His huge body landed on the ground, but his feet couldn't stop in time and dug two gullies. He used his wings to hook the ground and barely stabilized.
The dragon opened his mouth wide and bit a screaming fireman in half.
There was a click, and blood piled up high.
Rhaenyra hadn't stabilized her body yet; she shook the saddle with both hands.
When she opened her eyes, half of the corpse fell in front of her.
A broken arm flew over her head and blood instantly covered her face.
Suddenly, Rhaenyra's head buzzed, her eyelashes trembled with blood beads, and the scene in front of her turned blood red.
She had never seen such a bloody scene before.
Her brain crashed on the spot; her body was as stiff as wood, and she forgot to breathe.
"Hiss!"
Syrax jumped up and down, chasing the firefighters like a cat and mouse and ignoring the driver on his back completely.
"Run away! The dragon won't spit fire anymore."
"Hahaha, may the old gods bless you..."
The Mountain Clan ran out of the dragon's attack range.
"What's going on?"
Aemon rode the white deer, trampling through the bushes. He heard a shout from afar, indicating that something was wrong.
The white deer shook its head and knocked away a roadblock.
It carried its master to the edge of the high slope so he could clearly see the scene below.
The golden dragon blocked the path ahead, swallowing the firefighters whole and occasionally burping and spewing black smoke.
Without high-altitude fire suppression, the Mountain Clan fled frantically.
The situation on the other side was not optimistic either.
The Mountain Clan had a large number of people who rushed forward against the longbowmen's arrows and soon engaged in close combat.
"Draw your swords! Stop them!"
Adrian remained calm, holding a huge shield in one hand and a half-sword in the other.
"Woof, woof, woof..."
A group of mountain dogs swooped down from the high slope and pinned down several longbowmen in the front row, biting them.
The mountain clan took advantage of the gap in the formation and rushed over.
"Damn it! What is Rhaenyra doing?"
Aemon frowned.
"Hiss!"
Gray Shadow hissed and stared at the crowded path before spraying dragonfire.
Like a divine soldier sent from heaven, Gray Shadow completely disrupted the mountain clans' charge. The faster they rushed, the faster they died.
"Beep!"
Suddenly, a sharp whistle sounded in the depths of the forest as if an order had been issued.
"Woof, woof, woof..."
Accompanied by the violent noise of the bushes being torn apart, groups of mountain dogs rushed out.
One by one, the dogs jumped down the steep slope, sandwiching the longbowmen from the front.
Aemon was slightly surprised. He didn't expect there to be such an expert at training dogs.
"Charge!"
The mountain clans, driven away by Syrax, turned around and counterattacked. The hundred people at the front were all spearmen with black ears.
These spearmen were very brave.
Seeing that the dragon was focused on eating, the spearmen threw their spears in an attempt to pierce its scales.
Without exception, the spears thrown at the wing membrane bounced away.
It was impossible to break through its defense.
The spearmen did not give up, preparing for a second round of throws.
This time, however, he aimed at the silver-haired girl on the dragon's back.
"Not good!"
Aemon's face changed drastically, and he pulled the reins forward.
"Yo, Yo!"
The white deer was very smart. It turned around, jumped back onto the path on the steep slope, and rushed to rescue her.
The loud noise immediately attracted attention.
"There's another silver-haired girl!"
"He is the noble lord of the valley. Kill him first."
The spearman recognized Aemon's identity and aimed his spear at the easier target, Aemon.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Spears flew one by one, blocking the way.
Aemon raised his hand and swung his sword, easily cutting off the spears.
"Don't let him rush over!"
Terrified, the spearmen took turns throwing spears.
Aemon used the same trick again but forgot about the white deer under his crotch.
Puff!
A spear hit the white deer's chest, blood soaking its pure white fur like silk. The white deer knelt down with a plop.
Aemon's vision blurred, and he rolled to the side subconsciously to reduce inertia.
"Yo, yo!"
The white deer collapsed to the ground and struggled to get up.
"Catch him!"
"No, kill him..."
Aemon rolled up and looked around to see spearmen surrounding him from all directions.
A few brave men were eager to attack, spears in hand.
Aemon glanced back and confirmed that the white deer was uninjured. A big stone fell from his heart.
Swish!
He held a bronze sword in his right hand and picked up a crude iron sword with his left.
Calm and composed, Aemon made a sword flower with both hands.
Close combat? Let's give it a try.
