Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Daemon: "Who is with you and us?"
In the afternoon:
The royal ship sailed out of the port, escorted by a golden dragon.
"Won't you stay a few more days?"
Rhaenys stood on the cliff behind the castle, trying to convince her nephew to stay.
"No."
Aemon shook his head. "I'm here, and my cousin Laenor doesn't go out."
Rhaenys sighed and rubbed his head.
Seasmoke was seriously injured, so it would be difficult for him to recover in a short amount of time.
Laenor couldn't overcome the emotional barrier and refused to socialize.
"Forget it. It's up to you."
Rhaenys was reluctant, but she wasn't one to back down. She reminded him: "Be careful on the road. I'll let Laena take you away."
Aemon wanted to refuse and stay away from Laena, the bad woman.
But, seeing the other party's eager eyes, he swallowed his words.
"Come visit when you're free."
"I will, Aunt."
All good things must come to an end, not to mention the tension between the two families.
A moment later:
Rhaenys snuggled in her husband's arms as they looked out at the vast sea together.
Suddenly, there was a noise from above.
They didn't need to look back; a huge bronze dragon stepped onto the edge of the cliff, spread its wings, and jumped down.
"Hiss..."
Vormithor roared, swaying from side to side as he caught up with the royal ship in the distance.
Aemon sat firmly on the dragon's saddle, his silver hair fluttering in the wind.
One man and one dragon attacked vigorously.
Unlike the petite Syrax.
Vormithor's body was like a heavy, dark cloud. A pair of broad, brown wings covered the sky and earth, shrouding the royal ship in shadow.
From afar, it was quite shocking.
Rhaenys looked solemn, but she felt relieved.
From this moment on, the royal family had finally overcome the embarrassing situation of having no successors.
Assuming nothing unexpected happens, the family will prosper for another century.
"They are all gone. Let's go back, too."
Corliss sighed softly, feeling a sense of loss and depression.
From now on, the royal family could no longer be manipulated by anyone.
His plan to get close to the Iron Throne had failed again.
"Hiss... Gah!"
Suddenly, a sharp, piercing hiss sounded from the cliff.
Corliss frowned and looked up to see a scarlet dragon as long as a snake.
Caraxes stretched out his snake-like neck and climbed along the edge of the cliff, his sharp pupils visible.
His huge wings blocked the sunlight, and his evil appearance brought a full sense of oppression.
"Daemon, you said something wrong!"
Corliss stood in front of his wife and turned to see a thin figure slowly walking behind him.
"Oh, when?"
Daemon walked out of the porch with a faint smile on his face.
He didn't remember what he had promised the other party.
Corliss's face darkened as he accused, "You said your brother was unfair to you, so we joined forces to regain our rights and interests."
"We?"
Daemon's face suddenly became cold, and a dangerous light appeared in his eyes. "Who said we?"
Corliss was stunned and looked at Daemon deeply.
With a new bargaining chip, he planned to turn against him.
Rhaenys watched quietly, not interfering in the conspiracy between men.
Daemon glanced at her and warned, "Aemon is my son. Anyone who wants to take advantage of him had better watch out."
He didn't care about the "uncrowned queen." If he could win once, he could win again.
His son was his greatest cause, and he would never allow anyone to spy on him.
Too many Targaryens died young.
"Hehe."
Rhaenys turned her head away and crossed her arms.
People laugh when they're speechless.
Corliss remained relatively silent, feeling helpless about the ally he had chosen.
Any politician in power is afraid of people who will overturn the table.
Daemon is just such a person.
"Okay, the Stepstones are still waiting for me to govern."
Daemon turned and returned to the porch. Suddenly, he stopped and pondered: "My brother is a coward, but he's very lucky."
His brother and nephew are not cowards.
Of course, he didn't speak the second half of that thought; it remained only in his heart.
Thinking about how unfairly his brother treated him, Daemon felt lonely and quickened his pace to leave.
This seemed like contempt to Corliss.
Soon, Daemon left.
Caraxes spread his wings and flew, his forked tail stirring the waves as he headed towards the Stepstone Islands.
Corliss clenched and then dejectedly released his fist.
Suddenly, a hand held his.
Looking up, he saw Rhaenys smiling and saying, "It's not my husband's way to feel sorry for himself."
Corliss was stunned for a moment, and a warm current surged through his heart.
"Let's go. The children should be back."
Rhaenys patted his shoulder and walked back to the room steadily.
Although she disapproved of her husband's behavior, she loved him deeply.
A sea serpent that has lost its sharpness is not worthy of the blood of a real dragon.
Looking at his wife's heroic back, Corliss laughed dumbly.
Somehow, he felt more at ease.
...
Blackwater Bay.
"Hiss—"
An old dragon with a dark green body turned halfway around. The sound was like thunder as it turned back to Driftmark Island.
On the dragon's back, a graceful figure with long, curly, silver-gold hair could be seen vaguely.
"Roar!"
Vormithor glanced with his pupils erect, and the flame of the copper dragon accumulated deep in his throat, ready to go.
"Quiet, Vormithor!"
Aemon shouted and slapped the bronze scales as he lay on the dragon's back.
Vormithor raised his head and confirmed the rider's order. He slowly closed his huge mouth.
Then, he accelerated and flew over Blackwater Bay.
Boom!
The sails of the royal ship fluttered and shook violently for a while as a pair of dragon wings raised a strong wind.
Aemon had no choice but to hold his forehead and continue communicating.
The old dragon was difficult to control.
It has a strange temperament and is difficult to train.
Understandable, though; it's not the original wife.
"This time, when I go back, I have to learn dragon-taming skills well."
Aemon made up his mind.
He was going to return to the valley but was stopped by his uncle, Viserys.
Dragons are chaotic and terrible creatures with the destructive power to easily destroy a town.
In the past, it didn't matter if it was a young dragon or an adult dragon; dragon riders had to tame them.
They all had to stay in the dragon cave in King's Landing and focus on learning dragon-taming skills.
Dragon keepers, who have taken care of dragons for generations and understand their habits, are the best teachers.
"It's better this way, so as to avoid the danger of the dragon getting out of control."
Aemon touched Vormithor's back, showing his affection for the dragon.
Throughout the Targaryen family's brief history, there have been cases of dragons getting out of control.
In the past, Aerea Targaryen rode "Black Death," Balerion.
Balerion, missed his homeland and forcibly took Aerea back to ancient Valyria. There, she was attacked by fire dragon worms and died a painful death with her body burned all over.
This is the most serious case.
In the present day, there is also Daenerys, the "Mother of Dragons." Her black dragon, Drogon, has repeatedly disobeyed her, as have her other two dragons.
Without achieving the realm of human-dragon unity, one cannot fully exert the dragon's true strength.
"Roar!"
Vormithor roared, his body undulating and soaring as he deliberately created a small bump.
Dragons and their riders have telepathy.
Although the connection is weak, the rider can sense that the dragon is thinking something offensive.
"Sorry, big guy."
Aemon sat back on the dragon saddle, speechless for a moment.
He has a bad temper and is petty; he really found himself an uncle!
Vhagar is older and has a much better temper.
At least Laena won't be teased by the giant dragon under his crotch.
"I still need to practice more."
Aemon knew this was the breaking-in period.
Things will improve if they spend time together day and night.
On second thought, Aemon became sentimental.
He really wanted to grow up quickly so he could ride the dragon as he pleased.
