Chapter 88: 88. Continue to Shoot
Jason decided not to buy the more expensive sports car. The Ferrari F8, which cost around 3 million, seemed good enough. At least, it looked cool in the pictures.
Later that evening, Jason Liu called Zane Boting , to tell him he had a large piece of gold to sell. He asked Zane if he was interested.
Zane was a bit surprised to receive a call from Jason so late at night, but when he heard about the gold, he was excited. "Of course, Mr. Liu! No problem at all. Come to my office tomorrow morning, and we'll talk in person!" he said eagerly.
"Great!" Jason replied. They chatted for a few more minutes before hanging up.
At that moment, in a luxurious villa in the city, Zane Boting was having dinner with his family. His father, Zhang Yanzheng, saw him returning to the table with a big smile on his face and asked, "Good news?"
Zane grinned as he handed his daughter a piece of braised pork ribs with his chopsticks. "Someone's selling me another chunk of dog-head gold tomorrow. Of course, I told them I'll take it!"
His father, an elderly man with white hair but still full of energy, nodded. "That's great. Didn't you just sell a piece of gold to your uncle earlier today? He even called me to say thank you."
"Yes, Uncle Lin bought that piece this afternoon for 5 million," Zane replied casually, as his father and uncle were old friends with business connections.
"5 million, huh? That's a good deal," his father nodded again, satisfied. The family continued eating their meal.
Meanwhile, Jason Liu woke up early the next day and headed to the city's International Trade Center, bringing the heavy piece of gold with him. By leaving early, he could avoid traffic and even have breakfast in the city.
Carrying a simple shoebox in his hand, Jason entered the China World Trade Center building. No one would have guessed that inside the box wasn't shoes, but a gold nugget worth millions.
He found a well-rated restaurant on the 5th floor and treated himself to a nice breakfast. It cost him over 100 yuan, but he didn't mind—the food was excellent. Afterward, he sat back, relaxing and scrolling through the news on his phone.
He read about how China had launched several satellites in July, improving its space exploration capabilities. One of the big stories was the successful launch of a Mars probe, marking the beginning of an exciting Mars exploration mission.
Jason then saw some business news: Yao's company, Lesi, had been delisted from the market after years of struggle, leaving many small investors in bad shape.
Jason shook his head. "These stock market investors never learn. They keep getting tricked by the big institutions, yet they keep coming back for more." He laughed to himself, recalling the common joke among investors: "Big A has abused me thousands of times, but I still love it like it's my first love."
Though Jason didn't invest in the stock market himself, he had heard plenty of these funny stories. Like how investors say they go into the market with an Audi, but leave with an Alto, or they buy like Warren Buffett and sell like a complete amateur.
He finished his soy milk, tossed the cup into the trash, and checked the time—it was almost 9 a.m. Jason got up and headed for the offices of Jin Fuyuan.
At the office lobby, Jason exchanged a few lighthearted words with the receptionist, but just then, the company's secretary arrived. Dressed in a stylish white business suit, she smiled at him. "Mr. Liu, please follow me. Mr. Zane asked me to take you straight to his office."
Jason could feel the difference in their attitude today compared to yesterday. He waved goodbye to the receptionist, who shyly asked if they could exchange WeChat contacts, but Jason politely declined.
It wasn't because she wasn't pretty, of course—definitely not!
As they walked towards the elevator, the secretary started making small talk. "Mr. Liu, are you also in the gold and jewelry business?" she asked, curious. It wasn't often that her boss gave someone such special treatment.
The way Jason was dressed—Gucci or Armani—along with his handsome looks, made him seem like one of those rich young heirs. She clearly thought he was someone like Zane Boting.
Jason chuckled to himself. "People sure judge you by your appearance." He thought, "If I had worn cheap clothes, they might not have even let me in the front door."
Jason recalled how he had learned, just recently, that luxury brands like Gucci and Armani offered home services. They delivered clothes right to his villa, without him needing to leave the house. It was the first time he had experienced this kind of service, and although it cost tens of thousands, it was worth the convenience.
Why bother going out to shop when you can stay home and play on your phone? After all, there were better things to do than strolling through the streets.
Lost in thought, Jason barely heard the secretary speaking. "Mr. Liu?" she repeated, a little annoyed. the secretary, felt a bit upset. "Am I not charming enough, or is he just hard to impress?" she thought to herself.
Finally, they reached Zane's office. secretary led Jason in, then left with a slightly frustrated look on her face.
Zane noticed his secretary's mood but didn't dwell on it. Smiling, he greeted Jason warmly. "Mr. Liu, you're full of surprises! Not only did you bring us a piece yesterday, but now you've got an even bigger piece of gold to sell!"
He poured tea for both of them before sitting down across from Jason, still smiling.
Jason smiled back, feeling a bit embarrassed. "I'm new to this, so I didn't want to sell everything at once. I was worried I might get taken advantage of yesterday."
