Game Of Thrones : Merchant of Two Worlds

Chapter 266: 266. The Proud Mother

It was difficult for Luca's Ma to say yes again and again because of her charitable expression.

Her eyes fell on the sports car next to Jason Liu, and she couldn't help but exclaim, "Ouch!" Her voice became louder. "Oops, this is the Ferrari you bought, Jason, right? Wow, it's so beautiful, it looks amazing! I heard the price of this sports car is several million; it's very famous, exactly what young people like..."

Luca's Ma spoke exaggeratedly and loudly, which immediately attracted the attention of several uncles and aunts who were playing with their grandchildren on the lawn of the community not far away. They all looked over.

An old lady, who seemed to be older than her, holding her grandson, came over and looked at the sports car parked downstairs.

Although she didn't know much about Ferraris, she knew that this car wasn't cheap. Didn't she hear Luca's mom just mention several million?

"Director Xu, is this your relative?" The old lady, still holding her grandson, greeted Luca's Ma with a smile and looked at Jason Liu, who was holding the two children .

When someone asked, Luca's Mom, who always liked to show off her superiority, suddenly became energetic. "Yes, this is Liu Wan's younger brother! Isn't it the Mid-Autumn Festival the day after tomorrow? Jason came home from City for the festival."

She continued, "Anyway, he drove it himself. The company is his own, so it's easy for him to take a vacation. Unlike some people who work for other companies, they have to stay in the office during the Mid-Autumn Festival, and they can't even go home if they want to!"

"Wow, that's amazing! This young man started his own company and became the boss at such a young age? He really has talent," the old lady said, her eyes widening in real surprise as she looked at Jason Liu.

"Isn't it? He's got tens of millions in assets at a young age. This is all earned through his own ability. How many of your peers can claim that?" Luca's Mom proudly boasted, as though Jason Liu were her own son.

Although the old lady knew that Luca's Mom, who had been a small cadre, liked to show off, she couldn't help but be impressed by her son-in-law's wealth. She smiled and praised him.

These two didn't shy away from complimenting each other in front of everyone, especially Luca's Ma, whose voice was so loud that she seemed to want the whole community to hear.

Not far away, the elderly people who were playing with their grandchildren began talking about it. The topic of discussion was Jason Liu.

Jason Liu smiled awkwardly, thinking to himself, Do we have such a good relationship? Is it worth all this effort to praise me?

Luca's Ma's praise and showing off were so obvious that it was clear even her husband couldn't stand it anymore.

"let's go, hurry up and take Jason and let's go home, the food will be cold later," Luca's father said, stretching out his hand to his wife. He gave her a secret look, signaling her to restrain herself, or else the whole community would be attracted by her loud voice.

Lucas was also embarrassed. Following his father's instructions, he reached out to pull Jason Liu. "Let's go, Jason, let's go home first. Your sister has prepared the meal, and you have to eat here today. No excuses, you're not going back."

Liu Wan hugged her son from her arms and said, "Let's go, you must have a meal today before you leave."

Jason Liu was dumbfounded. He really didn't want to stay, but with Luca's Ma, father, and brother pressing him, even the neighbors were watching. He couldn't just leave without saying goodbye.

So, he opened the door, letting his nephew and niece—Little Lila and Little Mouse—climb inside the car to bring out clothes, snacks, and toys.

He thought, After the meal, I'll buy supplements for my parents. I'll give two boxes as a gift to Luca's Ma and Dad.

After all, the car was already there, and everyone could see the contents. It would have been awkward not to bring something down.

After receiving two boxes of high-end supplements, Luca's Ma and Dad smiled even more brightly.

Under his brother-in-law's guidance, Jason Liu placed Little Lila and Little Mouse, who were clamoring to sit in the car, into the passenger seats. He then drove to an open-air parking space not far away.

Then, his brother-in-law carried several large bags filled with items he bought for the children. They chatted and laughed as they headed to the elevator to go to their sister's house.

"Ahem, the old Xu family has climbed up a wealthy relative!" When the people from the family entered the building, the elderly people from several communities who were playing with their children outside made jokes.

"Hmph, they are showing off again now!" One old lady said with a disapproving look on her face.

"Didn't they say before that the daughter-in-law comes from a rural area? Because of this, the old Xu family didn't even like the daughter-in-law!" An old man wondered.

"She's from the countryside, but now her brother-in-law is well-off, and the village is now a hundred times richer than the old Xu family. They used to look down on others, but now she's sucking up to them!" one lady remarked, clearly uncomfortable with Luca's mom's arrogance.

Everyone burst into laughter at the old lady's words.

Once they arrived into the house, Jason Liu washed his hands, and everyone sat down together in the dining room.

Sister Liu Wan had cooked several dishes: scrambled eggs with tomatoes, fried pork with green peppers, cucumbers with garlic, and eggs with garlic and ginger—simple, but delicious dishes.

There was a pot of chicken soup in the center, the clear broth looking appetizing.

It seemed that sister had been cooking for the Xu family for years, and her cooking skills were truly impressive. Jason Liu couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness for her.

Well, forget it. As long as she's happy, the family will be happy.

Lila carried her own stool and sat next to his uncle, while Noah sat between his sister and mother.

Luca's father pulled out a bottle of liquor and was going to have a drink with Jason Liu, but he refused.

"I'll be driving home after dinner," Jason Liu said.

The meal went by quickly. Jason Liu didn't want to stay too long at liquor house, feeling uncomfortable under overly enthusiastic attention.

The atmosphere at the dinner table wasn't as awkward as he had feared, because Luca's Ma, having worked as a grassroots cadre, was skilled at making conversation and could always find topics to talk about with him.

In the end, Jason Liu even mentioned that he had a girlfriend.
