Game Of Thrones: House Bracken

Chapter 19: The Battle Of Blackwater Bay(1)

Soon enough, the Stannis forces were spotted 3 days away.

I was sitting in my office, my men being here. Jack, Jonnel, Jon, Jorgen and Uyn.

"My Lord! You must leave!" Jon said.

"No, I will stay." I said.

"Why!? You have no heirs, the entire House of Bracken resides on your life!?" Jon said.

"If we don't win this battle, House Bracken will die either way." I said

"Whether it is the Starks, Frey's, Baratheons or anyone else. If we loose this battle, we loose our biggest supporters." I said

"Jonnel, you and your men will be with me. Jack will command the city watch, and you will command my guard." I said.

"What about Sansa, My Lord?" He asked.

"Leave 2 of your worst guards with her. Her safety depends on the battle outside, not inside the keep." I said.

"Understood!" Jonnel said.

"Jon, form a task force of our 25 best men. You have been with them the longest and you know them best. These 25 will stay with me. Uyn, Jorgen and you is automatically apart of this." I said.

"Jack, you have the most important task. The City Watch is one of our most important units. Today you do not serve me, you serve the King's Landing." I said

"Understood, My Lord." Jack responded.

"However, find a way out and have 5 men of the city Watch guard it in the case I need to escape." I said, pleasing everyone in the room.

"You may leave, the war will happen in 3 days at most." I said. And with they all turned around and left.

I then left for Tyrion's chambers. I went in and saw him discuss stuff with Bronn.

"Ever heard of asking before entering?" Tyrion asked.

"Aye, I have. But I decided to surprise you." He said.

"And what is the meaning of this surprise?" I then sat down in a sofa.

"Just wanted to remind you, there exists men other than Varys in King's Landing. Even better, a master of war." I said as a realisation dawned over him.

"I may be young, but I have more practical knowledge of war and experience than you have. I've hosted multiple sieges as well." I said.

"Ah, I admit that in my deep search of a solution, I forgot the King's Landing war genius. Well, inform us. What shall we do?" He said.

"I know you wanna use wildfire." I said

"Smart, but not smart enough, it will only be a shock. Even if you kill 20% of their forces which is a best case scenario. They still outnumber you 4:1." I said.

"Hmmm, what should we do then?" He asked

"You need a continuous stream of wildfire. Send half your wildfire in a boat at Stannis'a fleet. Then have the rest be launched or dropped on the beach." I said as I took out a map of the mud gate.

"They will attack the mud gate, they can't send their ram or ladders due to our welcoming party. This means that they will have to wait at the wall for multiple minutes while they transport the battering ram. When they form up together, they will find safety in the closely formed up units, we cannot allow this thinking." I said.

"There is no safe spot except the walls together. If we take that out. They will never catch a break." I said.

"We just need to hold out until Tywin arrives." I said.

That's when Tyrion handed me a letter.

"Dear Tyrion, due to problems at Harrenhall we will arrive 2 days after the siege has began, you must hold out till then." It said.

"Shit!" I said

"Aye, this is indeed dire news." Tyrion said.

"Well, we need to prologue the siege." I said.

"Alright, same tactic, we launch wildfire at them in batches. However only send 30% with a boat. I will take my 200 men and form on top of the walls to fight those coming with ladders." I said.

"Alright, do you need anyone else there?" Tyrion asked.

"We will send the entirety of the Lannister forces and 1500 CW there. We will also have 400 CW patrolling the city. A prolonged siege means internal problems. The last 100 will help on top of the walls." I said.

"Have Ser Ilyn Payne, Joffrey, the entire KG, The Hound and every single fighter as strong as a KG form up there. The walls will be single combat while down will be a horde of men. Sending skilled personnel there is a waste, so send the good ones at the top of the walls." I said.

"Very well, Joffrey and Cersei will agree as it's safer." He said.

"Have the archers form up on the walls during the initial charge, then when the ladders are put up, send them towards the stairs or other elevated platforms facing the gate." I said.

"Lastly, my 200 men will host the welcoming party." I said ending my plans.

"Very very good. Much better than whatever bullshit I would come up with. You have full control of our ground forces, Lord Alexander." He said. And with that I nodded before leaving, I needed to rest good before the battle.

Soon enough 3 days passed. And at the end of the 3rd day. The bells rang.

I were sitting in a large tavern with all my men. We all had a bit of alcohol, nothing large but enough to not be thirsty and too little for it to influence you, as the bells rang we all stood up.

"It is time boys, let's show them the night of the Bracken mind and body!" I screamed

Everyone have a quick shout before we left the tavern. Outside stood 200 horses waiting for us, we immediately rode to the King's Gate. Where they formed up. I then took Jack with me as we rode for the Mud Gate.

We arrived in less than 2 minutes at full gallop, I arrived at the stairs before getting of my horses giving it to a Lannister solider there.

Jack did the same, and we went our separate ways, me to command and him to the City Watch.

I quickly arrived beside Tyrion.

"Fine day today, eh?" I asked.

"Indeed, the weather is quite good today." He responded with.

And soon enough, Joffrey arrived with his 4 followers.

Lancel quickly enough stated.

"Where's our fleet!?" He asked.

"Not getting killed." I said.

"What do you mean!?" Lancel responded furious.

"Our fleet can't even inflict casualties against the previous Royal Fleet, it's better to spare it for later battles." I said.

Tyrion and Joffrey then began telling the hound they asked a question. It then changed to them threatening each other.

And soon enough Joffrey spotted them. Ships, with three mast. Multiple of them larger than normal galleys and every one of them larger than River Galleys. Drums resounding through the night.

I then turned to the Archer Commander.

"Archers, to their marks." I said and he repeated it by shouting.

He then continued by screaming "Nock your arrows!"

I then said

"Hold fast" and he repeated it much louder.

Soon enough a small Lannister ship sailed from the shadows and towards Stannis's fleet.

As the ship reached their ships, I turned to Tyrion.

"Give the signal."

He nodded before throwing the torch down from the walls.

Bronn saw the torch, and he lighted his own arrow before shooting it into the air, towards the ship.

The arrow flew long and true, a testament to Bronn's immense skill and talent in fighting. The arrow flew, bringing hope and despair. Davos looking at the spear with terror, knowing what it would unleash. While the men on the walls followed the arrow, hoping that it would help them survive.

And sure enough, the arrow hit its mark and Green flames began brewing. Only 5 seconds after it landed, it exploded. Destroying all the ships within a vicinity of 50 meters, while smaller than the flame in the show, it was still extremely bright forcing everyone to shield their eyes with their arm. Except the Hound of course.

The flame continued, destroying over 40 ships before it stopped. And as it died down, every men on the wall began shouting, screaming, in happiness, determination and relief.

However it died down, as hundred of rowboats approached the shore, they were still a bit away. But not far enough.

I then turned to Tyrion and handed him a horn.

"When Stannis's men reach the shore, blow this." And with that I went down the stairs, mounted by horse and galloped away, towards my men.

It took me 1 minute to arrive at the Iron Gate beside my men. Just in time for the horn to be blown.

"Alright men, the Baratheon men will be arriving at the shore about now. We have come a long way, we have trained, fought and we have managed great things. Will you let the Baratheons end our great House!? If we loose this battle we will be the next to be attacked! They will rape your woman, kill your children! Will you allow this!?" I screamed

"Nay!!!!" They all screamed as the gate opened.

"Then come with me and kill these Stags!!!" I screamed, and they all roared in return. And with that we charged through the gates, all 100 men.

My horse was the fastest, and I therefore arrived at the battlefield first. The Hound had formed a little welcoming party. Just defending the gate. Only about 30% of Stannis's men had arrived at the shore.

Only a few seconds after I arrived. Jon, Jorgen and Uyn came. Uyn and Jorgen, the battle maniacs didn't slow down and just charged into their forces while Jon stopped. We just looked at each other before shrugging and joining Jorgen and Uyn. A few seconds after we rode into battle the rest of our 196 men arrived. And we pierced into the Baratheon forces. Their lines were quite thin but reinforcements were arriving one after another.

I smashed into the Baratheon lines at the same time as Jon.

There was a young Baratheon solider with a pike waiting for me, he stabbed forward with the pike. I used my swords handle to redirect it, it then stabbed the sword downwards, going into his shoulder, I exerted immense strength to drive it not out, but sideways through his shoulder. Ending the young man life and if lucky, his career.

A second man, a more experienced and older man. Slashed his longsword at my horses feet.

I forced the horses's reigns back making it stop, barely evading the longsword, I then used my own sword, stabbing it through his open spots in his helmet, ending his life.

And like this the battle continued. We pierced through their unprepared and weak lines and arrived beside the Hound's welcoming party, relieving them of immense pressure and allowing them to regroup. We then began pushing the Baratheon forces back, even pushing them as far as the shore where we managed to attack men not yet having left their ships. That's when I spotted Stannis engaging some of my men, his elite troops had just arrived and were fighting the Hound's welcoming party. I decided it was time to retreat.

"RETREAT! BACK TO THE CASTLE!" And like that we turned around and left. My men left first, while the Hound and his forced managed the rear.

3 minutes later everyone was in and I received our casualties from Jonnel.

"Lord Alexander, we lost 25 men 15 wounded and 10 dead, while the Hound lost 30." He said.

"Very well, deploy the remaining 275 forces on the walls." I said.

"Yes, My Lord!" With that he left to organise our men.

After doing that I went up the stairs to where Joffrey and Tyrion was stationed.

"Greetings, Lord Hand, Your Grace." I said.

"Greetings, you did well out there, Lord Alexander." Tyrion said.

"I'll make sure you're rewarded, Lord Bracken." Joffrey said.

"Thank you, Your Grace. As to make sure you are seen as well as secure. I'll have you stay here and defend. You will have 1 King's Guard close if anything happens. Additionally, I will send a prisoner whom is weak, doesn't have any skills and hungry to you. It will be an easy kill for you." I said.

"V-very w-well, I shall do this for the men of King's Landing." Joffrey said.

And with that I spotted the outline of a bartering ram arriving and a ship being turned around.

"Commander, focus arrowfire on that bartering ram!" I said.

"Yes, M'Lord!" He said as he began shouting orders.

And with that the battle of Blackwater Bay was in full swing.
