Chapter 168: Seven's Talk
The moon shone silver over Gaia's central garden—where an unusual stillness settled between glowing fireflies and marble benches wrapped in vines. The garden was sacred, usually quiet, used for reflection or blessings.
Tonight, it hosted a much rarer occurrence.
Seven girls gathered under the Starpetal Tree, a rare flora that bloomed only during festivals and when powerful Ether mixed with emotion. Its glowing violet blossoms shimmered overhead, casting an almost surreal glow.
Sylvia, Charlotte, Elaine, Harriet, Eun-Ha, Hikari, and Mia—seven Integral Knights with different hearts, powers, and stories—sat in a loose circle. Some stood. Some leaned. Some fidgeted. But one thing was certain:
They had all fallen for the same person.
And now… they were finally admitting it.
🌸 Mia was the first to speak.
She held her grimoire tightly to her chest, her voice barely above a whisper.
"I... think I like him.""Cyg."
No one responded at first. Not with surprise. Not with denial.
Just quiet.
🎵 Sylvia sighed softly, brushing her silver hair behind her ear.
"You're not the only one.""I've known for a while... maybe since the night he heard me sing without smiling."
Mia looked down, and then smiled—grateful and nervous.
⚙️ Charlotte crossed her arms, eyes narrowed toward the petals above.
"Of course, you'd all fall for him. He's an emotionless dork. But somehow, when he looks at you... it feels like he sees everything."
"He helped me rebuild after my breakdown. I didn't ask for it. He just... did."
Sylvia smiled faintly. "That's just it. He never asks. He just knows."
🌬️ Elaine giggled quietly, sitting cross-legged on the grass.
"He makes me nervous… but safe. He doesn't treat me like a glass sculpture. I like that."
"He walks in silence, but his presence... it's loud."
Mia's cheeks glowed a warm pink. "That's so poetic."
🔥 Harriet groaned, kicking a stone into the pond.
"Ugh. I hate this.""I'm not supposed to like anyone. And definitely not him."
The girls glanced at her knowingly.
"But the idiot saw my scars and didn't flinch. Told me they made me 'real.' I've never felt more naked."
She rubbed the back of her neck, avoiding their eyes.
"I think I'd punch him and kiss him in the same second."
Everyone laughed—except Eun-Ha.
🕊️ Eun-Ha stood apart, her back to the group as she lit a tiny candle before her staff, Solmaria.
She finally spoke.
"I care for him. Quietly. Deeply. I do not know if I love him in the way you all do…"
A pause.
"But when I saw him stare into the abyss and not blink… I wanted to protect that part of him. Even if he never chooses me."
That silenced everyone.
⚔️ Hikari clutched her cloak, eyes downcast.
"He doesn't even know how much he means to me…"
"When I was scared of hurting people again… he told me to try hurting him first."
A soft gasp came from Sylvia. Hikari continued.
"Not because he was unafraid… but because he wanted me to feel safe."
Tears filled her eyes, but she didn't let them fall.
"How do I compete with people like all of you…?"
💬 The Circle Tightens
Silence stretched between them—thick with truth, tension, and tenderness.
Sylvia: "So what do we do now?"
Charlotte: "Declare war?"
Mia: "Please no… I don't want to fight anyone…"
Harriet: "I'll fight. I won't lose."
Elaine: "Maybe we can all try... fairly?"
Hikari: "Even if he never picks anyone… I just want to be by his side."
Eun-Ha: "Then may the stars decide."
They weren't friends in this moment. They weren't enemies either.
They were rivals. And they all loved the same boy who didn't yet understand the weight of seven gazes burning silently into his back.
As the Starpetal Tree bloomed above them, a wind passed through the garden—unseen, carrying their hopes into the sky. None of them knew how this love would change them.
But they knew this:
The Festival was about to begin. And hearts would soon collide.
