Chapter 184 – Azhdaha: "I’ve Learned My Lesson, Please Spare Me!"
Standing before the deep, dark cave entrance, the group could hear sounds echoing from within.
It was a noise akin to wind howling against something—steady, rhythmic, and heavy.
Undoubtedly, it was the breathing of a colossal creature!
While Azhdaha was indeed an elemental being, elemental creatures in Teyvat possessed organs similar to those of humans. Take Dvalin, for example—his essence was that of an elemental being, yet he had a heart, bled, breathed, and even blinked.
"We still have a way to go," Zhongli said, pulling out a lantern-like object to light their path.
In the darkness, the others could see clearly, but Klee couldn't.
Following Zhongli, they stepped into the cave.
Inside, a stone-paved path wound downward, as if leading to the depths of the abyss.
After walking for several minutes, the space ahead suddenly widened.
They had arrived in a vast underground cavern.
The heavy breathing grew clearer, as if right beside their ears.
Zhongli stopped, handed the lantern to Venti, then raised his hands, golden light glowing in his palms. With a forceful motion, he spread his arms wide.
In an instant, the jagged rock formations around them began to emit a faint glow, illuminating the entire cavern.
With the light, everything became visible.
Ahead, on a massive flat platform, lay what could only be described as a mountain—Azhdaha's sheer size was staggering!
His head bore backward-curving horns, his spine was lined with crystalline spikes, and his tail extended upward, branching like antlers.
The slumbering Azhdaha exhaled gusts of wind that collided with a golden barrier, creating ripples of energy.
Around him, towering stone pillars stood like celestial columns, forming the grand sealing array that imprisoned him.
"Wow—!" Klee's eyes widened as she pointed. "A giant lizard!"
Venti barely stifled a laugh.
Lu Heng chuckled. "This is the patient you'll be treating today."
"Mm-hmm! Klee will heal it!" Klee nodded enthusiastically.
The sudden brightness roused Azhdaha from his slumber.
His breathing hitched.
Slowly, his eyes opened—crimson and terrifying.
His gaze immediately locked onto Zhongli.
His massive jaws parted slightly as he exhaled, and then—the earth trembled.
The cavern shook violently, debris and dust raining from above.
The entire underground space seemed on the verge of collapse.
"MORAX—YOU INSIGNIFICANT ANT! YOU DARE SHOW YOUR FACE BEFORE ME?!"
Azhdaha roared, his power surging violently.
He lunged forward, his horns slamming against the divine barrier.
CRACK!
The force of the Earth Dragon was overwhelming.
Pebbles bounced off the ground as the cavern quaked.
Klee wobbled unsteadily, but Lu Heng quickly caught her before she fell.
Seeing this, Zhongli's expression darkened slightly.
"He's not in a rational state. Please wait a moment—I'll ensure he's calm enough for Klee to treat him safely."
How does one make a frenzied, violent patient submit to treatment?
Zhongli's answer was simple:
Knock them out or beat them into submission.
With everyone present being far from ordinary and Klee under Lu Heng's protection, Zhongli had no concerns about collateral damage.
He took a step forward.
Azhdaha was no weakling.
As the Earth Dragon, he carried the power and memories of the land itself, enduring as long as the mountains and seas!
So long as Teyvat existed, so too would Azhdaha.
The earth's power was immense and unyielding—as long as Azhdaha stood upon it, his strength was limitless.
Even at full power, Zhongli would struggle to kill him.
Azhdaha was a force of raw, untamed might—a warrior relying solely on brute strength.
Zhongli, however, possessed comparable power and mastery of technique—a true martial sage.
Though difficult to subdue, Zhongli had done it once before, sealing Azhdaha here himself.
He had experience.
A flicker of memory passed through Zhongli's mind.
That battle had laid waste to too much land.
Unless absolutely necessary, he had no desire to relive it.
But now—things were different.
Zhongli retrieved the Mask of the Fierce Deity, originally intended for Xiao, and donned it.
His Gear wasn't high-tier, offering only minor enhancements.
But for someone of his caliber, even the slightest boost could decide a battle.
The cards slotted into his Gear activated at his will, amplifying his power in every aspect.
Zhongli's form began to shift.
Starting from his collar, his attire turned white.
In an instant—
Zhongli was no more.
In his place stood Morax, hooded and masked, his dark sleeves adorned with golden patterns, barefoot and hovering mid-air.
"MORAX—!!" Azhdaha bellowed in fury.
The sealing array shackled him like chains.
Azhdaha's power surged violently against the barrier, his crimson eyes burning with murderous rage.
Had it been Zhongli standing before him, perhaps words would have been exchanged.
But Morax believed in speaking after victory.
Divine energy coalesced in Morax's palm, gathering like a miniature sun.
With a flash, he surged through the barrier and slammed the condensed power onto Azhdaha's head.
BOOM!
A shockwave more violent than before erupted.
Lu Heng reacted instantly, shielding both little girls in his arms.
Outside, half of Liyue trembled from the aftershocks.
Even Mt. Tianheng shook violently.
Deep within his abode, the Mountain Shaper jolted in alarm.
He had sensed the earlier tremors but assumed Azhdaha was merely venting his frustration upon waking—nothing unusual.
But now—
"The power of the Emperor...?"
This wasn't just Azhdaha thrashing around—this was a fight.
Mountain Shaper pondered briefly.
With the Cards enhancing Morax's strength, his assistance wasn't needed.
Besides, he'd only be a liability if he got caught in the crossfire.
Better to stay far away.
"YOU DARE STRIKE ME, INSECT?!"
Enraged, Azhdaha roared.
Morax remained silent.
His palm pressed against Azhdaha's skull.
Though his hand seemed minuscule compared to Azhdaha's eye, the moment it made contact—
CRASH!
Azhdaha's head was smashed into the ground, leaving a massive crater.
Dizziness overwhelmed the Earth Dragon.
Fury drove him to roar again, summoning all his strength to fight Morax to the death.
Morax's gaze remained indifferent as he summoned a stone spear.
Blunt rather than sharp, it functioned more like a club.
With a heavy THUD, it struck Azhdaha's spine just as he tried to rise, sending him crashing back down.
He couldn't win.
Azhdaha realized the gap in their strength, but the proud Earth Dragon would never yield.
If death was the price, so be it!
"He's going all out," Venti mused, though he didn't seem worried.
Morax had subdued Azhdaha once before. Now, with the Cards' enhancements, it was even easier.
If only his Gear were higher-tier, this would've been a one-sided beatdown.
Klee and the Lesser Lord Kusanali sat snugly in Lu Heng's arms.
Klee watched with wide eyes as "Uncle Zhongli" fought the giant lizard.
Kusanali watched too, though her cheeks were slightly flushed.
Being held like a child embarrassed her.
I'm one of the Seven Archons too!
Sure, my power hasn't fully recovered, but I can protect myself!
"Can you... put me down?" she whispered awkwardly.
Venti glanced over and grinned. "Oh? Feeling shy, Kusanali?"
Kusanali pursed her lips, refusing to answer.
Venti's smirk widened as he nudged Lu Heng teasingly.
Watching Morax and Azhdaha fight? That was just Azhdaha getting beaten up.
The real entertainment was watching Lu Heng and Kusanali's dynamic.
Klee turned her head, looking between Kusanali's blushing face, Lu Heng, and Venti.
"Here, Klee, come to me," Venti said, grinning as he took Klee from Lu Heng.
Humming, he added, "Let's give them some space, yeah? Some things aren't for little eyes."
"Okay!"
With the two gone, only Lu Heng and Kusanali remained, staring at each other.
"You did that on purpose!" Kusanali puffed her cheeks.
Though a rational deity, her current childlike form made her look adorably pouty.
"Objectively speaking, I was just being considerate."
After spending so much time with Venti, Lu Heng had learned a thing or two—like keeping a straight face while spouting nonsense.
"Mean..."
Kusanali lightly kicked Lu Heng's shin.
Then, she squirmed slightly.
Lu Heng thought she wanted down, but instead—
She simply adjusted her sitting position, placing a small hand on his shoulder for balance.
Lu Heng raised an eyebrow.
Kusanali avoided his gaze, her ears tinged pink.
"...Just consider it practice," she muttered under her breath.
Hm?
Fair enough.
Lu Heng smiled in satisfaction.
Meanwhile, Azhdaha was not having a good time.
After a thorough beating from Morax, he had gone from cursing to utter silence—proof of his suffering.
Only his draconic pride kept him from outright surrendering.
But now... he was very docile.
In his silence, one question plagued Azhdaha:
What the hell happened to Morax?!
Since when was he this strong?!
Sure, Morax had always had the upper hand, but this was a stomp!
Had his power grown?!
That made no sense!
Azhdaha knew Morax's strength better than anyone.
A god's power was largely fixed at birth—very few could surpass their limits.
Even with opportunities, such a drastic increase was unheard of!
Seeing Azhdaha lying motionless, Morax nodded in approval.
Good.
Now he'd be compliant for treatment.
"Azhdaha—"
The moment he spoke, Azhdaha growled, "Kill me or spare me—no false courtesy!"
Still not obedient?
Zhongli might have tolerated it, but Morax was all about efficiency.
Three more minutes of brutal beatings later—
Morax reverted to Zhongli, a faint smile on his face.
Confirmed.
Azhdaha was now thoroughly tamed.
He turned to Klee.
"Klee, your turn."
"Coming!"
Klee skipped over cheerfully.
With plenty of experience, she set up her Boom-Boom Launcher without needing instructions.
Zhongli channeled divine energy, enhancing the healing effect of Klee's Magic Bombs.
With a "Boom!", a glowing projectile arced through the air and landed on Azhdaha's head.
KABOOM!
Holy light enveloped the Earth Dragon.
Zhongli watched carefully—both to protect Klee and to observe the healing effects.
One bomb erased 0.01% of Azhdaha's erosion.
Good?
Excellent!
Azhdaha was a top-tier elemental being—classified as Tier 5 (High) in the Card Shop's system.
Even Klee's Tier 4 Gear could only heal him slowly.
Azhdaha felt the change within himself.
His rage had lessened slightly.
What... are they doing?
He and Morax were enemies—why would they heal him?
One moment, they were trying to kill each other—the next, they were saving him?
It made no sense!
Was this some kind of mockery?
But pride meant nothing when Morax could shatter it effortlessly.
Klee's Gear was only Tier 4—how could it heal him?
Azhdaha could only assume his wounds were slightly mended.
His fury reignited—
But one glance from Zhongli made him lower his head submissively.
Fine. Whatever.
He'd play along—pretend this was just humoring a child.
Klee wasn't idle either.
She monitored the launcher, ensuring her Cards stayed active.
She didn't want to accidentally fire a real bomb at the giant lizard.
After so much praise, she took her role seriously—helping others while being careful not to make mistakes!
Venti sidled up to Zhongli, nudging him and gesturing toward Lu Heng and Kusanali.
Zhongli glanced over.
The two seemed deep in conversation.
Venti grinned. "Entertaining, isn't it?"
Zhongli lowered his voice. "Indeed."
Klee, curious, popped her head between them.
Hearing about Lu Heng and Kusanali, her eyes widened.
"Okay!"
Without questioning, she shut off the launcher and dashed toward Lu Heng.
Seeing her approach, both turned to her.
Assuming she needed help, they were surprised when—
"SISTER-IN-LAW!" Klee chirped brightly.
"???"
Kusanali froze, then facepalmed.
"Klee, don't shout nonsense."
"It's not... not yet," she protested weakly.
But her blush betrayed her.
Lu Heng sat on an energy-formed chair, Kusanali in his lap.
Zhongli averted his gaze.
Learning of Kusanali's situation, Klee scratched her head.
She'd assumed Kusanali was her age—turns out she was just weakened.
Venti, ever the instigator, whispered, "Klee, call her sister-in-law."
Klee, ever obedient, beamed at Kusanali and shouted:
"SISTER-IN-LAW!"
"Huh? Isn't she?" Klee blinked in confusion.
"You're absolutely right," Lu Heng affirmed solemnly.
