From Scammer to Divine: The God That Lies Built

Chapter 13: A Mad Conjecture! Who is the Outsider?!

Since Liam did not reveal any inspection information, everyone tacitly agreed not to hold any vote today.

The first day's meeting came to an inconclusive end in silence.

As stated in the letter, they needed to spend the night in the meeting room.

The meeting room was safe; werewolves could not commit murders here.

Thus, they did not need to worry about being ambushed by werewolves while sleeping.

Several sofas were arranged in the meeting room, sufficient for them to rest.

However, even so, no one truly fell asleep—everyone was filled with anxiety.

Some sat, while others lay down.

But each person had chosen a separate spot, not too close to others.

Drake leaned back on the sofa, eyes closed to rest, unclear whether he was asleep.

Jack half-closed his eyes, slightly rolling his eyeballs, occasionally observing the others.

Rolly didn't sit down, instead pacing back and forth in the conference room with the appearance of someone racking his brain in thought.

"Can you please stop pacing?" Maive spoke up softly.

Although Rolly's footsteps weren't particularly loud, they still disturbed others trying to rest in the quiet nighttime conference room.

"Uh, alright." Rolly sighed softly and found a seat.

Emmy was lying sideways on the sofa, seemingly the only one who had fallen asleep.

Danny curled up on a corner sofa, lost in unknown thoughts.

Liam casually leaned back on a random sofa, not sleeping but constantly glancing at the wall clock.

He was waiting - waiting for midnight.

At the end of the meeting earlier, Liam had vaguely formed what could be called a "crazy" conjecture.

Yet paradoxically, this mad hypothesis could almost explain away all the "anomalies" he found puzzling.

Soon...

"Dang——"

The heavy toll of the bell rang out, declaring the arrival of noon.

Liam's [Detective]ability had also been refreshed!

He gained another new opportunity to investigate secrets hidden in others' hearts!

Liam let out a breath and immediately activated his ability.

"I want to investigate Drake's secret!"

Liam silently murmured this in his heart as Drake's image appeared before his eyes.

The mysterious sensation emerged again. Seizing the moment,

"Investigate Drake's hidden identity in this game session!"

A scene materialized showing Drake opening the envelope.

Unlike Jack, Drake immediately noticed the identity card, glanced at it with practiced ease, then pocketed it.

The movement was so fast Liam nearly missed it.

Yet he still caught a glimpse.

The identity card bore two characters: "Werewolf"!

Another werewolf!

By now, Liam had detected two werewolves—according to previous deductions, the game seemed to have ended!

But Liam showed no reaction.

He let out a breath, feeling that "crazy" conjecture was increasingly being confirmed.

But as of now, it remained merely a "conjecture."

Liam closed his eyes.

"By tomorrow, I can verify whether my conjecture is correct or not."

Regardless of tomorrow's outcome... whether the conjecture proves true or false.

This game would meet its "end"!

Of course, there was also the possibility that he might die during the "verification" process.

After all, that verification method might carry some danger.

Thinking this, Liam gradually fell asleep.

The night passed without incident.

The next day, the grand bell tolled again, startling all who had been sleeping lightly!

"Dang——!"

Liam rose from the sofa as Soldier Drake had already approached the schedule board.

"Today's missions have refreshed... Let's continue with yesterday's groups!"

Drake declared, and naturally, no one voiced opposition.

Jack grumbled as he dragged Danny over, while Rolly and Maive had already stood together...

Emmy yawned and moved closer to Liam.

"Morning, Detective Bro."

"Morning, Vet Sis."

Liam replied with a smile.

Though he had felt somewhat nervous last night, he was now completely relaxed.

As he spoke, Emmy pouted.

"Vet Sis sounds awful..."

"How's that any different from Detective Bro?"

"Of course it's different..."

Their whispered bickering drew a frown from Drake.

"Enough private chatter—let's assign tasks. Each group should stick to yesterday's zones. Familiarity with the terrain will make things smoother."

"I've checked. The distribution of tasks is fairly balanced, though there are some repetitive assignments."

As Drake spoke, Liam and Emmy stepped forward to claim their tasks.

After receiving their assignments, the group filed out of the conference room and dispersed to their respective designated areas.

Liam and Emmy once again ascended the central staircase of the ancient castle.

At dawn, a thin mist veiled the castle windows. The number of crows in the withered trees had dwindled significantly, yet the remaining few still faced the castle as if peering at something unseen.

The footsteps of other teams gradually faded into the distance.

Liam abruptly halted mid-step, turning to look down at Emmy from his elevated position on the stairs.

"What's wrong, Detective Bro?"

Emmy tilted her head as she spoke.

Liam fixed his gaze on Emmy, studying her intently.

For the first time, he scrutinized her and realized the girl was far more attractive than he had initially perceived.

Although she wasn't wearing makeup, her skin was remarkably delicate.

Her eyes were dewy, with inner double eyelids.

The sheer volume of her hair even made this college student somewhat envious.

Moreover, since her job was as a veterinarian, she must love animals dearly too.

"Sorry."

Liam apologized mentally, then turned his gaze to Emmy.

He remained silent for a long time before speaking solemnly.

"Emmy."

He didn't use her "profession" as a designation but called her by name instead.

This solemn form of address took Emmy by surprise.

"Huh? Why call me so suddenly? Do you want to..."

"I detected the werewolf yesterday."

Liam interrupted Emmy's words.

Upon hearing this, Emmy froze for a moment before shock spread across her face: "Really, Detective? Then why didn't you say so last night? Couldn't we have just voted the werewolf out immediately?"

Liam sighed, his face revealing a pained expression.

"Emmy, of course, it's because... the person I investigated was you."

He murmured in a trembling voice.

To anyone listening, it would seem as if a fierce battle were raging within him.

Emmy stood frozen in place upon hearing this.

"You must be mistaken, Detective..."

She began, but Liam remained silent, simply raising his head to gaze at her.

After a long silence, Emmy sighed, her face showing traces of sorrow.

"What a shame... I had quite a fondness for you... And I wasn't prepared to kill anyone either."

Though she said that, Emmy lifted her white lab coat and retrieved a dagger from the belt at her lower back, gripping it in her hand.

"I'm truly curious—when did you start suspecting me? And why did you doubt me?"

Emmy asked softly.

Liam stood before Emmy, his face expressionless as he spoke in a flat tone.

"Maybe because your acting was too terrible, Vet Girl."

Even facing the dagger, Liam appeared calm as ever.

But this was only due to his exceptional control of facial expressions and line delivery.

The current Liam, staring at the cold-gleaming dagger and Emmy's murderous gaze, felt nothing but creeping dread across his scalp.

That "crazy conjecture" had truly been confirmed!

The werewolves currently included Jack and Drake...

And Emmy!

The number of werewolves was never two!

Rather...

Five!!!
