Chapter 191: The Demon Race Fights with All Their Might, Unable to Win (Bonus Chapter)

Meteor?
Through the shattered arched dome, the rebel soldiers and demons in the hall clearly witnessed a star suddenly grow larger, and larger still, whistling down with immense wind pressure. The distance was closing. It was falling, aimed squarely at the inner sanctum of the Royal Palace.
A colossal meteor, over thirty meters in diameter, streaked across the night sky, trailing a tail of purple and white as it roared down.
The thousands of souls on the ground looked up, gazing in a trance-like state, a silent tribute to this miraculous magic.
Without any suspense, it landed in the middle of the palace.
A thunderous roar stole away all sensation. The world was filled with a deafening hum. The cluster of buildings instantly disintegrated, throwing up tens of thousands of tons of soil like a tidal wave.
What followed was the light of daybreak, carrying with it flames from air friction that evaporated all moisture and burned away all oxygen, briefly forming a vacuum. Then, a high-pressure shockwave became the second killer, an unstoppable physical impact that pushed through the kingdom's walls and crushed all in its path.
Crash!
Like a row of dominoes, the palace, a mere toy before such immense power, was obliterated by a single move. The inner city was destroyed. As far as the eye could see, there was only rubble and broken walls.
A terrifying, deep crater appeared in the center, now filled by the meteor. At its highest point stood the silver-haired girl.
Even from the distant suburbs, people could witness her figure bathed in a golden light.
Soul-version Sunlight Healing!
The stab wound to her abdomen, a fatal injury for an ordinary person, had not affected Frieren's actions from the very beginning. She had endured the injury to avoid the meteor's impact, and now, seizing the opportunity to heal, she was completely unharmed, including that sliver of soul damage.
Or perhaps, her soul was never truly injured. Her original soul was likely long gone, replaced by the First Flame, with which she had merged.
What damage could stabbing a great mountain with a sword possibly do? It was merely the wishful thinking of the plotters.
She looked towards the copy, covered in wounds on a pile of rubble in the distance. The latter had used all its strength to create multiple barriers. The outer layers had all been shattered, and even its innermost Fish Scale Barrier was broken. It was a pathetic sight.
However, the copy still stared fixedly at its target, not flinching, not avoiding. Its unyielding aura made the silver-haired girl raise an eyebrow.
Not bad at all.
Frieren condensed a magic sword in her hand, taking a preparatory stance, poised to strike.
The copy opposite her saw this and instantly understood that the time for a desperate fight had come. Without hesitation, it fired a lightning spear, but unexpectedly, the silver-haired girl parried it with a clang and charged forward.
It immediately activated the Endure Ash of War to block the blow, but still lost its balance and knelt on one knee. It wasn't over yet.
With a clatter, several demons leaped out from the rubble at her feet.
Faced with the sudden attack, she changed her move without panic. Her initial piercing thrust transformed into a gentle sword light, as if wielding a paintbrush to sketch simple lines across each enemy. Within a radius of tens of meters, beautiful white arcs of light were left behind.
Waterfowl Dance—first form.
The nimble and deadly edge instantly killed the ambushers. With a single strike, its mission was complete. The sword then turned, lightly thrusting into the copy's chest.
From beginning to end, the Flamme phantom had not reacted. In a daze, it vanished.
"Too slow. You are not her, after all."
Frieren, having killed several targets, sheathed her sword and looked around. In the rubble-strewn field created by the meteor, a few figures were panting for breath. There were rebel soldiers, and there were demons. All were bleeding, their condition deteriorating. Most had died in the gravity magic attack.
When her gaze swept over them, they showed a reaction of avoidance. Many of the survivors were afraid, their hearts filled with lingering terror.
Who could have known that there existed a power capable of destroying an inner city in a single blow!
That was one thing, but the wounds they had fought tooth and nail to inflict on the enemy had been healed in an instant, and their only other main damage dealer had been counter-killed. Who could stand that? Of course, their morale plummeted.
Sensing the silver-haired girl's gaze, some had already started to beg for mercy, and then they watched as glintstone pebbles materialized around her.
One survivor had just crawled out of the rubble pile before being pierced by a pebble, dying on the spot.
Amidst the zipping sounds, lives were continuously reaped. The survivors who had just managed to crawl out immediately despaired, their cries and pleas for mercy echoing endlessly in her ears:
"I was just deceived! I was tricked!"
"I surrender now! I'll tell you everything I know about them!"
"I still want to go home..."
"Have you not reflected on how irresponsible your betrayal was? This war has nothing to do with sympathy. There are only factions. It is the cruelest of species disputes." Frieren looked around and said coldly, "Either live, or die. There is no other choice."
The coldness in her words made even some of the demons instinctively start to mimic human pleas, which disgusted her even more.
Creatures like these were, without exception, cleaned up by the glintstone pebbles. Not a single one was left.
From a pile of rubble not far away, several figures stood up. They were, surprisingly, the two Demon Sages, three greater demons, and five human court mages, plus a hundred or so battered soldiers. They were the only survivors with any combat capability left. As expected, every one of them was injured, panting, and not in their prime condition.
Witnessing Frieren's attitude, they of course knew there was no room for negotiation. The enemy's revulsion towards demons was palpable; she had already made up her mind.
A will and power combined, the toughest bone to chew.
"Don't get carried away." The Corrupt Sage manipulated several orbs of light to float around him. "The killing magic is still missing a few famous losers. I think you're a perfect fit."
The silver-haired girl advanced with an indifferent expression, each step seeming to land on the beat of their hearts, terrifying them.
"Come on."
She swung her hand fiercely, catching the killing magic. The parry was ineffective; her hand was instantly pierced, dripping with blood. Although Frieren remained calm and composed, the surrounding demons gained a sliver of confidence. The opponent was just bluffing.
Then another shot. With a clang, the injured hand was struck and turned black.
However, the next moment, the light of healing repaired the puncture wound, and even the burnt area peeled off, good as new.
"Then I'll just hit you again and kill you."
"Carian Retaliation!"
An incredible scene occurred: the silver-haired girl caught the light representing the killing magic, and in a blue ripple, changed its path, returning it all. The unannounced attack caught the Corrupt Sage off guard. The Hundred-Faced Sage beside him gave a sharp push, allowing him to barely dodge.
The beam of light grazed his shoulder, a heart-wrenching pain spreading through him. So this is how painful it is for a demon. It was a counterattack mixed with the power of the soul.
"Frieren, what did you do?"
"It is indeed a clever magic, but it's not quite at the level of an indecipherable curse. After taking a few hits, I've more or less analyzed it. Although I can't learn it for now, recognizing and deflecting it is not difficult."
The silver-haired girl flexed her hand as if savoring the feeling, a sight that made one's scalp tingle. At this point, how many trump cards did the demon side still have? They couldn't help but have doubts, especially the human traitors who were already thinking of running...
"No one is leaving."
As her voice fell, Frieren stomped her foot, and a Chaos Flame erupted from the ground. It passed through the obstacles of the ruins, turning the countless dying embers into ash.
It was extremely corrosive and spreading. In a few breaths, it turned the inner city into a sea of lava and fire.
The soil of the outer city also became hot and humid, extinguishing all life.
Within a ten-mile radius, there was no place to stand. This was the inferno prepared for her enemies.
Damn!
No one could have predicted that Frieren would casually unleash another super-large-scale attack. This flame was unlike any other fire magic in the world. It was eroding and changing the environment. The temperature alone gave one an uncanny feeling.
Suddenly, someone knelt down with a thud, clutching their head and screaming. Their body mutated, muscles forming into the shape of a demon, their skeleton breaking through their skin as they bled out.
Unfortunately, the transformation was ultimately unsuccessful, and it only added another corpse to the pile.
A great mage was gone just like that.
Frieren used Chaos Flame sparingly, as it always reminded her of her experience in the ruined city, and it was difficult to control. Now, because she had released some of her body's limitations, her ability to command it was a step above. She might as well use it on her enemies and teach them a good lesson.
"Don't touch them! The heat of this flame will mutate life forms. Stay away."
The demons all took to the sky. At least for now, true flight magic was still a domain exclusive to them. It should be safer.
Frieren spread her hands, and a Black Sun Fire Ring rose, its radius exceeding ten meters. Held high in the air, it was deeper than the night sky, and thousands of eyes converged on that terrifying energy.
The next moment, it spewed out streams of fire snakes that scurried in all directions.
The entire firmament became a canvas for her to sketch upon at will. The enemies were just embellishments. A light touch was enough to erase them with the red pigment, without even a chance to struggle. Whether in the sky or on the ground, there was no place to hide, only death.
She leisurely directed the fire snakes to spread. When the mood struck, she even created a line of chaotic fire that spanned a hundred meters, enveloping everything.
"Quick, run! We can't stay here!"
The traitorous court mages, their fighting will already weak, immediately turned tail and ran at the sight of this apocalypse. In their haste, they forgot that Frieren's chaos fire had already sealed off the entire area. There was no way out.
The fire had drawn a moat, only it had trapped them, the enemies.
Looking towards the sound, they saw the silver-haired girl leap high into the air with the help of gravity magic, the flames in her hand forming a long spear, which she then swept towards the edge.
It was too fast. So fast that they had no time to react before they felt the flames on their bodies and lost consciousness.
The powerful mages, who would have received courtly treatment, couldn't last a single round. In front of Frieren, it was only a matter of when. Under one round of chaos fire, none were spared. They were completely annihilated.
She hadn't even expected them to be so powerless. Their defensive shields lit up for a moment and then were gone, probably because the chaos fire covered too large an area, making small-area defenses useless.
She had even used too much force.
The yellowish-red flames rushed out of the inner city, their momentum unchecked.
Passing over the moat, it hissed and steamed, and tens of thousands of tons of river water evaporated into thin air, then turned into rain that pattered down, washing everything.
The power of water and fire finally visited the outer city.
In a single pass, it broke through the inner and outer city walls, sweeping through the empty commercial streets, the shops collapsing into dust.
The weather changed again. The drastic change in temperature formed a storm that passed through, carrying flames that washed out in a fan shape. The houses, bell towers, squares, and fountains along the way were turned into ruins. The dust that was kicked up even slapped against the faces of the evacuees in the suburbs.
Everyone looked at each other and wiped the sweat from their foreheads, almost thinking it was going to rush over. The impression the Mythical-Era Mage now left them was just one thing:
A natural disaster.
Only the great power of nature could create such a hellish scroll painting, arbitrarily reshaping the world.
What was the ultimate realm of magic? Frieren had demonstrated it. It was to use an irresistible power to wantonly transform the environment, unrestricted, transcending the mundane. It was a synonym for power, allowing miracles to walk the earth. If she wanted to, the Royal Capital would have been erased long ago.
It would be an erasure without a trace, not the kind of decay from the ages, but wiped from the map. For her performance so far, it would be easy.
"It's a good thing the President isn't here as an enemy."
An officer exclaimed in shock, "Your Excellency Lernen, your organization sent a whole army to visit."
"Actually, I wasn't sure at first that Lady Frieren was this strong."
"My country's intelligence agencies also investigated. In the Battle of Northwind Fortress before, her main damage was in the form of the curse-like scarlet flower. We just had to prepare resistances. But I didn't know her physical destruction was even more exaggerated. Truly terrifying."
"...The two Presidents' greatest strength is their will that surpasses the world and their thousand years of cultivation, commanding magic to carry out their transformations. That realm is different from us mages."
There was a moment of silence.
Faced with a scene from the age of myths, what could they say? Mortals could only bear witness:
At this moment, the Chaos Flame steamed, exceeding fifty meters in height. It formed a wall that separated the inside from the outside, completely cutting off any possibility of escape.
The demons left inside were all injured and in poor condition.
In contrast, Frieren was full of life and vigor, fighting with increasing courage. Her mana was bottomless, and the energy pillar she displayed showed no signs of diminishing. So you don't spend mana at all? How is that possible!
It was true. In fact, with every move she made, she primarily mobilized the power of her soul to maximize the damage.
The effect was better than imagined. At this moment, even the greater demons were showing signs of physical mutation. Even the physically strong warriors couldn't hold on. Death was only a matter of time. The end was basically set.
"Are your miserable states now within the so-called prophet's calculations?"
"I still have the strength to kill you."
The Corrupt Sage's killing magic shot out. This time, Frieren didn't even raise her hand to block. The shield alone was enough for a perfect defense.
Their hearts sank. They hadn't expected the other party's analysis speed to be so ridiculously fast. Even demons could feel despair, that feeling of fighting with all their might but being unable to win.
"You've delayed long enough. Let's end this quickly."
Rumble!
Frieren took out two weapons and simultaneously covered them with a rocky sword coating, their heavy appearance making one's heart tremble.
The next moment, her figure flickered. One sword cut open a greater demon's defensive shield, the other swung out and cut it in half at the waist. The gravity wave that shot out formed a fan shape tens of meters wide, instantly crushing it. The other enemies could neither react in time nor provide support.
First, kill one. While the demons were retreating, Frieren used another move, a gravity orb that picked one out and pulled it over.
Dual rock sword jump attack.
At this moment, the pulled demon felt like Mount Tai was crashing down on it. A purple-white sword light streaked across the sky, cutting the earth from top to bottom and annihilating the target.
The silver-haired girl standing beside the ravine didn't even pant as she scanned for the next one.
With every move, her terrifying power made one shrink back. The ground rumbled and roared, all released by one person, her presence overwhelming. Frieren's goal seemed to be to level a large city and, by the way, wipe out the demons.
The two Sages looked at each other and nodded.
"She won't hold back. This is our last chance."
Suddenly, two Corrupt Sages appeared in front of her. Even knowing that one was a mimic, she had to face the dangerous killing magic. This was their surprise attack.
An unprecedented barrage of bullets covered Frieren. At the same time, the only remaining greater demon attacked with them.
Just what I wanted.
In that instant, gravity magic enveloped all the enemies.
