Freedom's daughter

Chapter 18: The Power Of Divinity

In the darkest room of Neverland...

Whip! Whip!

"Stop... Please..." Sob...

"I still want to have my way with you, once it's time for your mission I might heal you."

Sob...

Knock...

"Who's there?"

"Queen Victoria, I'm sorry for bothering you but you are required for an urgent matter."

"What is it?"

"I believe the one you were waiting for might come at any moment."

"Tiamat?"

"Yes."

"For fuck sake! She finally has the guts to come after all this time."

Whip! Whip!

"I'm coming..." And so she leaves.

-

Few hours pass, the prisoner left alone in the dark.

The door suddenly opens, the prisoner usually knows what it means, but this time it wasn't Victoria who entered, nor one of her servants bringing her food and water.

It was an angelic being, wearing the darkest of the dresses, two beautiful white wings spreading from her back, her body representing the epitome of beauty and elegance.

Even though she never met this angel in her life, she knows who she is: Tiamat, the word of God.

Tiamat's aura is overwhelming the prisoner, making her tremble, yet she can do nothing but admire the angel and how beautiful she is.

"T-Tiamat..." Her eyes tearing up.

Tiamat kneels down facing the prisoner. She notices her back, full of scars, cuts, and blood, yet such a show doesn't impress the angel in the slightest.

"Listen here, human, I'll free you, but in return, I want Lyet's head as quickly as possible."

"Yes... please... I can't take this anymore..."

Another miracle... Saving her from the deepest hell... God heard her prayers again.

Tiamat canalize her magic in the lock of the chains opening it, and the prisonder is finally free.

She tries to stand up, but her legs tremble, making her fall. They are weak due to all these days being forced to stay in the same position without a moment of rest.

"I see... I'll heal you then."

Tiamat stretched her arm above the prisoner, and all the scars disappeared; her energy was restored, allowing her to stand up.

"Thank you..."

"I also gave you the power to fight alone. You no longer need knights helping you, I donated you part of my power, at least all that your body can withstand."

"But why me?"

"Your determination... I need it. Your creed would never budge and that's what I admire most."

"Tiamat! Here you are! What are you doing here!?"

Someone screamed, Queen Victoria, from the door.

The prisoner instinctively kneels down, like a dog scared of its owner.

"Victoria... Look what you did to this poor thing. How cruel of you."

"Don't talk to me like that. You are way worse..."

"I'll take her with me, don't butt in."

Tiamat offers her hand to the scared prisoner, helping her stand up.

"First, you boss me around, and after you steal what's mine?!"

"Don't forget who helped you build this kingdom. If it wasn't for me, who would you be today? No one, that's the answer."

"I already have a plan to catch them. I asked all the exorcists in the kingdom to come here and in the meantime, to look for them!"

"It's been over a week, they clearly missed them, and once the exorcists are here what are you gonna do?"

"I anticipated what path they would take and placed guards to defend that part of the border! Lyet isn't strong enough to beat them."

"Oh, and do you think a cheap tactic like this works on someone like him? Did you forget that Lyet is no longer alone? For some reason a mortal is helping her even knowing she is a demon, how unusual."

"Cheap t-tactic?"

"He made Lyet escape the city even though it was completely patrolled, bought her enough time until she could beat those massime knights, and even saved her when you first sent guards looking for her in the city. I met several geniuses in my life, he isn't one of them, yet, he is far better than you. That's why you aren't and will never be a good queen; you are naive."

"It's true you helped me build this kingdom but who do you think did all the work after that! I started from nothing and reached the title of a Queen, don't you dare call me naive again!"

"Please... If you think this is enough to consider yourself important you are wrong."

"If you are that better than me why aren't you catching Lyet yourself instead of making others do the dirty job?!"

"That's none of your business."

"You would have gotten the job done in a single day. Lyet is still nowhere near her potential, and yet you refuse to act... Oh, I get it, it's because you are still scared of him... If he actually didn't die as you thought he might come back and kick your ass... that's laughable..."

"..."

"What? Mentioning him is enough to make you shut up?"

Tiamat then creates a shield around the prisoner and herself. A moment later, she intensifies her magic; it's not even a spell, it's simply emitting mana in the air.

The walls around the three girls start to crack, and fragments start to fall.

"Oh, I see, that's your comeback... Then I really hope he is alive so he can come and kill you once and for all." Says Victoria before an enormous piece of ceiling falls, killing her.

In less than a minute later the entire castle collapse, what remains is nothing more than dust and few fragments.

If someone was inside surely didn't survive.

That's the power of a divinity. If something comes from a mortal, under such strength, it's doomed to perish.

Tiamat breaks the shield around the prisoner and her.

"Dante, the mission I gave you, to kill Lyet, is considered directly from God. Do you understand this?"

"Yes! I won't let you down... And thanks... For saving me."

"I gave you the power, don't make me regret it."

And with that, Tiamat disappears.

"God... You saved me again..."
