Founder Of The Greatest Noble Family

Chapter 90: 90:Blackmail

Roland's vision turned red with rage.

"You touched my sons?" he asked, voice low but full of thunder.

The nearest man turned, laughing as if it were a joke. "And who the hell are you—?"

Roland's eyes narrowed. "I am their father."

The man's smirk vanished, replaced by caution. "Well, that's good then… Pay me up."

"Pay you?" Roland muttered, clearly surprised. His cold gaze fell on Nil.

"Father, it's our fault," Nil admitted, looking down. "We were on the street when a man came to us and said we could play card games and other fun stuff for just one gold coin."

"I told Noah not to go, but he cried and made a big scene. So, I gave in and we played. But then the man said we had to use this token. We kept losing, and now they want us to pay out of nowhere."

Roland stared at Nil. He wanted to scold him right there but held himself back. Hitting the kids here might leave a deep scar on them. He took a deep breath to calm his nerves.

"How much did they lose?" he asked in a firm but steady voice. "Let's not make a scene. I'll pay."

The man licked his lips and smirked, his eyes gleaming strangely. "1,000 gold coins."

A confused frown crossed Roland's face. "How much?"

"I said 1,000 gold coins."

"Father, he's lying!" Nil shouted. "He said 100 first!"

The man shrugged. "Oops. I made a mistake, kid. You've been playing for an hour and lost a lot. Everyone saw it."

The crowd started nodding, murmuring in agreement. "Yes, they lost. As their father, it's your duty to pay up," someone said loudly.

Veins bulged on Roland's forehead. He clenched his jaw and looked around. His children might be young and naive, but what about the guards?

He turned to Nil and Noah. Noah trembled, hiding behind his older brother, while Nil looked nervous.

"Where are the guards?" Roland asked.

"I... I don't know," Nil stammered. "When we came in, they disappeared. One of the uncles said they went to the toilet, but they never came back. We tried to leave, but people blocked us and kept forcing us to play."

Roland glared at the man. "Where are my guards?"

The man blinked, confused, and turned to his men. "Did they bring guards?"

One of his underlings leaned in and whispered, "Boss, don't you remember? We already got rid of those guards who tried to stop the kids."

The man nodded slowly and then looked back at Roland. "They went to a nearby bar."

Roland, who has sharp senses,he heard everything.

"You..."

That was the final straw. Roland's foot slammed into the ground.

BOOM!

The floor cracked, the sound shaking the whole room.

He lashed out, and the man flew across the room, crashing through a table in a burst of splinters. Panic broke out immediately. Some gamblers ran, others reached for weapons in fear.

"You picked the wrong guy to extort," Roland said, his voice like a storm ready to tear everything down.

Argon stepped beside him, unsheathing his blade. His towering form blocked the path of the nearest thug. "Move."

But Roland didn't wait. He moved like a tempest, grabbing one man by the collar and smashing him into a pillar. Another rushed at him Roland flipped him over his shoulder and dropped him with a loud crack.

The rest froze. His aura alone was enough to make most of them collapse or crawl away.

"Father!" Nil called out.

Roland reached them in three strides. He didn't say a word at first, just looked over them quickly. Their clothes were clean, faces pale, no bruises. Only fear in their eyes.

He gently placed a hand on each of their heads.

"Are you both alright?"

They nodded quickly.

"Good."

Then he turned to Argon. "Protect them."

As Roland turned to face the rest, the dealer stepped forward with several armored knights behind him whom he brought amidst the commotion.

Roland looked at them and frowned.

These weren't some petty thugs but City guards.

"I was going easy on you before," the dealer said coldly. "I would've let you go with just 1,000 gold coins. But now after breaking my things either pay with your life, or give me 20,000 gold coins."

"..."

What?

Roland took a deep breath and asked,"How can you be so brazen..Whose backing do you have?"

"I too have the backing of higher authority so do you want to try?"Roland asked calmly. He really didn't want to create a scene in someone else territory.

The man smirked arrogantly. "You want to know? The great Duke Riley himself is backing me. Now what can you do? Pay up… or prepare to see your children butchered."

Roland's face went still.

His hands trembled not with fear, but rage boiling to the surface.

Amelia had warned him. She had said things might turn ugly. Still, he had chosen peace. He didn't want to expose his strength too early. He had hoped to wait—wait until his children were stronger, until they could stand on their own.

But this…

This was a direct threat to his family.

"Quickly tell me your answer."

"Fuck you," Roland growled, his voice echoing like thunder.

The air turned heavy.

He took one step forward.

Instantly, the room exploded into chaos.Seeing these guards tagged along acted immediately feeling danger from Roland

Swords were drawn. Mages started chanting. Enforcers charged with spears and shields.

Some fired arrows hidden in their sleeves. A huge man with a chain axe came swinging from the side. A lightning bolt flew past him. A wind slash cut through the chairs. Fire arrows lit up the space.

More than twenty men attacked all at once.

But Roland didn't flinch.

He stood in the middle like an immovable statue and released a small wave of his Qi condensing into an aura.

Blades shattered the moment they touched the glowing veil around him. Spells dissolved into sparks. Arrows bounced back and clattered on the ground.

A man leapt from behind, aiming a dagger at Roland's neck.

Roland turned his head slightly. The moment his gaze met the person welding dagger, the guy felt death flashing before his eyes.
