Chapter 21: Reflections in the Night
John appeared on the rooftop of a building and quickly vanished. Moments later, he reappeared, utilizing his Shadow God technique to move within the building's interior.
He moved from room to room, concealed within the shadows.
He entered one room and saw a beautiful white-haired girl who had just emerged from a bath, wearing only a towel. John, still in the shadows, blushed and thought, She is so beautiful.
He quickly shook off the thought. I better leave. Lucky I was hiding in the shadows. If I wasn't, I would have been considered a pervert.
John moved out of the room, entering another where he saw the Skyfall Sect Leader's daughter sitting cross-legged on a bed, cultivating.
He looked at her and thought, So she's still alive. I never thought there was really an item that could bring someone back to life. He continued, I wonder how many times you can come back to life.
Maybe it's a one-time use, or you can use it more than once. Maybe she has another life-saving item on her.
Should I just ask her and kill her afterward? John quickly dismissed that thought. I did feel slightly bad for killing her in anger, he reasoned. He continued, moving out of the room, Just because they are from the same sect doesn't mean they're all bad. Killing the innocent is going to make me as bad as those two. I don't want to lose my mind, blinded by revenge.
This world might be where the strong rule, a lawless world where those who can't cultivate aren't even treated like humans, where the weak can lose their lives as long as the strong wish.
In a fucked-up world like this, it's kill or be killed. Anyone who tries to kill me must die.
John entered another room where he saw Jo Lee. He smiled and thought, Finally found you, my secret realm ticket. He moved towards Jo Lee, entering his shadow using his Shadow God technique. Inside Jo Lee's shadow, John thought, To survive in this world, I have to become stronger. He began cultivating.
The sun shone brightly in the sky. The scene shifted to Jo Lee's room, where sunlight streamed through the window. Jo Lee, sitting on the bed, finished his cultivation and stood up, walking towards the door.
John, still within his shadow, slowly opened his eyes and thought, It's morning already.
Jo Lee walked out of the room and reached another room, where he knocked on the door.
