Ethan stood beside Victoria, his fiancée, as they mingled with the other guests at the reunion. He'd proposed to her six months ago, and everything seemed perfect on the surface.
But as he glanced across the room and saw Charlotte laughing with a group of friends, Ethan felt a pang of unease. He'd always cared for Charlotte, but he'd never acted on his feelings. Now, as he watched her shine in the midst of their old friends, he couldn't help but wonder what could have been.
As the night wore on, Ethan found himself drifting away from Victoria and towards Charlotte. They talked about old times, shared memories, and laughed together like they used to.

Victoria's voice cut through the noise, reminding Ethan of his obligations. "Ethan, darling, we should probably get going soon."
Ethan nodded, feeling a twinge of guilt. He knew he had to be careful, for everyone's sake. But as he turned to say goodbye to Charlotte, he couldn't shake off the feeling that his life was about to get a lot more complicated.
