Forever In Darkness

Chapter 1: My Little Secret

Chapter 2

 *My little secret *

Kaidën, a 300 year old werewolf, belonged to the ancient and revered Lunar Clan. For centuries, the Lunar Clan had thrived in secret, living in harmony with nature and honing their unique abilities. Kaidën's father, Thane Blackwood, was the respected Alpha of the Lunar Clan, known for his wisdom, strength, and unwavering dedication to his pack.

As Kaidën patrolled the woods, his senses on high alert, he felt an unusual tingling sensation in his veins. It was a feeling he had grown accustomed to over the years, a signal that one of his pack members was in danger. Without hesitation, Kaidën sprinted towards the source of the sensation, his heart pounding in his chest.

As he burst into the clearing, he saw a human, Mia, being attacked by a rogue creature. Kaidën's instincts took over, and he tackled the creature to the ground, fighting to protect the human. It wasn't until he stood up, victorious, and locked eyes with Mia that he realized his mistake.

She was human.

Kaidën's mind reeled as he struggled to comprehend why he had sensed her distress. It was a feeling reserved exclusively for his pack members, a unique bond that allowed them to sense each other's emotions and dangers. But Mia was not a werewolf; she was a human,so why then could he sense that she was in danger, and Kaidën had just exposed himself to her.

Fear and anxiety coursed through his veins as he hastily retreated into the darkness, leaving Mia shaken but alive. Kaidën's thoughts were a jumble of confusion and worry as he made his way back to his pack's hidden den.

The Lunar Clan's den was nestled deep within the heart of the forest, a labyrinthine network of tunnels and caverns that had been carved out over centuries. The air was thick with the scent of damp earth and the soft glow of luminescent mushrooms illuminated the passageways.

As Kaidën entered the den, he was greeted by the warm, golden light of the pack's gathering hall. The room was filled with the gentle hum of conversation and the soft clinking of dishes as the pack members prepared for the evening meal.

Kaidën's father, Thane, stood at the center of the hall, his piercing blue eyes scanning the room as he addressed the pack. Kaidën's arrival went unnoticed, and he slipped into the shadows, watching as his father spoke.

"...and so, my friends, we must remain vigilant," Thane said, his voice low and commanding. "The humans are growing bolder, and we must be prepared to defend ourselves and our way of life."

The pack members nodded in agreement, their faces set with determination. Kaidën felt a surge of pride and loyalty towards his pack, but his mind was still reeling from the events in the woods.

He knew he had to speak with his father, to confess his mistake and seek guidance. But as he watched Thane, he felt a sense of trepidation. His father was a just and fair leader, but he was also fiercely protective of the pack, and Kaidën knew that his actions would not be taken lightly.

With a deep breath, Kaidën stepped forward, his eyes locked onto his father's. Thane's gaze narrowed, sensing that something was amiss.

"Father, I need to speak with you," Kaidën said, his voice low and urgent.

Thane's expression turned serious, and he nodded curtly. "Very well, Kaidën. Let us speak in private."

As they stepped aside, the pack members watched with interest, sensing that something important was about to unfold. Kaidën's heart pounded in his chest as he prepared to confess his mistake, knowing that the consequences of his actions could be severe.

 * Back to the woods*

As Kaidën disappeared into the darkness, Mia stood frozen, her mind reeling from the shock of the encounter. She couldn't shake off the feeling that she had just experienced something extraordinary, something that defied explanation.

After what felt like an eternity, Mia finally snapped out of her trance-like state. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart, and began to make her way back to her car.

As she drove home, Mia's mind wandered back to the mysterious stranger who had saved her. Who was he? What was he? And how did he possess such incredible strength and agility?

Mia's thoughts swirled with questions and theories, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something more to the stranger, something that went beyond human explanation.

As she pulled into her driveway, Mia felt a sense of relief wash over her. She was safe, and she was home. But as she stepped out of the car and into the quiet darkness of the night, Mia couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.

She locked the door behind her and made her way to the living room, where she collapsed onto the couch, her mind still racing with thoughts of the stranger.

As the night wore on, Mia's eyelids began to droop, but her mind refused to quiet. She kept thinking about the stranger, wondering who he was and what had motivated him to save her.

As she drifted off to sleep, Mia's dreams were filled with visions of the stranger, his piercing blue eyes and chiseled features etched into her mind like a vivid memory.

And as she slept, Mia's subconscious mind continued to ponder the mystery of the stranger, her thoughts swirling with questions and theories that refused to be silenced.

*Back at the cave*

Bestie, let's dive back into the story!

Kaiden stood before his father, his heart racing with anticipation. He had just returned from the most intense encounter of his life - saving a human from certain death. The rush of anxiety and fear still coursed through his veins, but it was the weight of his secret that threatened to consume him.

As he raised his chins up to look at his fatherhe felt a surge of trepidation. What would his father say? Would he be proud of Kaiden for saving a human, or would he be furious that Kaiden had revealed their existence to the mortal world?

Kaiden took a deep breath and spoke;" Father". His father, the Alpha of their pack, looked up from the papers on his desk. "Kaiden, what is it that you wanted to discuss in secret" he asked, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Kaiden opened his mouth to speak, but the words caught in his throat. He felt a presence behind him and turned to see his father's most trusted advisor, Ryker, standing in the doorway.

"Ah, Ryker," Kaiden's father said, his eyes flicking towards the advisor. "I wasn't aware you were still here."

Ryker bowed his head slightly. "I was just leaving, Alpha. But I couldn't help but overhear Kaiden's arrival."

Kaiden's heart sank. He had been so close to confessing, but now Ryker's presence had thrown him off. He couldn't reveal his secret in front of the advisor.

"I...I just came to discuss some pack business, Father," Kaiden stammered, trying to cover.

His father's eyes narrowed slightly, but he nodded. "Very well, Kaiden. Ryker, please leave us."

Ryker bowed his head and backed out of the room, closing the door behind him. Kaiden's father turned his attention back to Kaiden.

"Now, Kaiden, what is it that you really wanted to discuss?" he asked, his eyes piercing.

Kaiden felt his heart racing, his palms growing sweaty. He opened his mouth to speak, but the words still refused to come. He felt like he was trapped in a nightmare, unable to wake up.

"I...I just wanted to ask about the upcoming hunt, Father," Kaiden stammered, feeling like he was going to vomit.

His father's eyes narrowed slightly, but he nodded. "Very well, Kaiden. We will discuss the hunt later. For now, you are dismissed."

Kaiden felt a wave of relief wash over him as he turned to leave. But as he reached the door, he heard his father's voice behind him.

"Kaiden."

He turned to see his father's eyes boring into his soul.

"Remember, Kaiden, our secrets are what keep us safe. Never forget that."

Kaiden felt a shiver run down his spine as he nodded. He knew that his father was warning him, telling him to keep his secret hidden.

And in that moment, Kaiden made a decision, he would keep his secret hidden no matter the cost. He would protect his family, his pack and himself, no matter what.

As he walked out of the study, Kaiden felt a weight settle on his shoulders. He knew that he would carry this secret alone, at least for now.
