Chapter 416: Crazy Aleron
Lein was slightly confused by Aleron's statement, but he had already prepared himself internally. "Will there be thunder like in the stories?" he wondered to himself.
He gazed at Aleron, who now stood in the middle of the twelve floating runes. Both of his hands were raised toward the sky, and with a voice that was light yet carried immense power, he spoke, "Open."
Suddenly, the sky rumbled. A massive thunderclap exploded in the heavens, shaking the towering mountain they stood upon. Black clouds rolled in from all directions, converging right above them, creating a foreboding sight.
"What is that?!"
"Is there another foreign enemy?!"
"What kind of trial realm is this?!"
Some participants started to grow restless, especially those experiencing this test for the first time. Even the core members of the alliance appeared tense.
On the other side, Hana turned to Elen with a serious look. "Elen… don't act recklessly later. This trial realm is different from any battle we've experienced before."
Among all the core members, Hana was most concerned about Elen. The girl was the youngest member of the alliance, and though she possessed great talent, Hana didn't want her to take unnecessary risks.
Elen nodded. "Alright, Sister."
"If you feel like you can't go on, just use the flare I gave you," Hana continued, making sure Elen truly remembered.
"I will." Elen nodded again. Hana's concern felt so warm, easing her unease.
Grgrgrg…
The sky rumbled again. White lightning flashed like a giant serpent, striking in all directions. The energy radiating from Aleron's body grew stronger, surging toward the sky as if trying to tear it open.
Lein frowned. "Damn it, what kind of trial realm is this? Does he intend to destroy the Divine Sky Realm?" he thought sharply. Previously, he had asked Aleron to use a serious test to ensure fairness. But this… this had already exceeded his expectations.
Beside him, Tauriel scoffed. "That old fossil, he's definitely showing off his treasure on purpose." Her expression showed clear displeasure.
However, her eyes quickly shifted to Lein. "Young Master Lein, be ready… soon, those creatures will try to stop the descent of the Trial Gate."
As soon as she finished speaking, Tauriel shot into the sky, preparing to face the incoming threat. Lein didn't stay idle either; he immediately followed, taking a position opposite Tauriel.
Grggr…
Crack…
The sky split open, revealing an endless darkness within. An immense pressure descended from the gaping rift, pressing down on the world below. The grandmasters gritted their teeth, struggling to endure. Meanwhile, the masters had already fallen to their knees, their bodies trembling violently, unable to resist the force descending from above.
A catastrophe was about to arrive.
"What? What level of trial realm is this?" Shen Yu, the chief disciple of the Eternal Swan Sect, murmured.
Beside him, his younger disciples were already overwhelmed. He quickly released a bit of his energy, forming a thin protective barrier to help them withstand the sky-shaking pressure.
Meanwhile, Hana activated her ice defense. A layer of pale blue crystal formed around her, slightly reducing the pressure descending from the widening rift in the sky. The other participants hurriedly deployed their own defenses, struggling to endure the divine force that seemed intent on crushing them. Experience new tales on My Virtual Library Empire
At the edge of the formation, a small-framed young man enveloped himself in a dark aura. A red crystal on his chest flickered, reflecting his growing unease. "Damn it… did he open this type of trial realm on purpose?" he muttered under his breath. His gaze was filled with hatred as he stared at Aleron, as if he wanted to devour him alive.
Aleron, still standing among the twelve glowing runes, remained focused on opening the portal. Yet, for a split second, his eyes flicked toward the young man—a cold, razor-sharp gaze that cut through the soul.
The young man felt a chill of impending doom. He prepared to activate his defenses, but before he could react, a piercing pain shot through his chest.
Crack.
A bloodstained white feathered wing had impaled his body. The red crystal on his chest shattered, his eyes lost their light, and his body collapsed, lifeless.
Boom!
His body exploded. Swan feathers scattered, swirling in the air before vanishing with the wind.
The participants stared at the scene in silence. Some appeared confused, wondering what had just happened. However, for elite disciples like Shen Yu, this was not a major surprise. They were accustomed to witnessing death in high-level competitions. Even so, there was a hint of tension in his eyes. "I need to be more careful from now on," he muttered to himself.
The sky was fully torn apart.
Blinding white light poured from the open rift, like the celestial veil being pulled back. Within it, a grand gate towered, seemingly untouched by time. Two colossal figures stood on either side of the gate. They wore flowing white robes layered with soft linen, and the long sashes across their chests gave them the appearance of ancient deities.
Their eyes immediately turned downward. Disgust was evident on their faces.
"Humans?" one of the gatekeepers murmured, his brow furrowed.
"Who dares open the Gate of the Heavenly Paradise?"
The voice of the giant rumbled, shaking both sky and earth. The tremors from his words rippled, as if shaking the very bones of every being who heard them.
Without waiting for an answer, the first gatekeeper raised his long trident, its three-pronged tip gleaming with a divine light that carried an undeniable threat. With a single, powerful motion, he hurled it downward.
Meanwhile, his companion pulled a massive golden chain from behind his back. The chain gleamed under the sky's radiance, moving like a celestial serpent as it shot down at breakneck speed. Its target was Aleron—merciless, ready to bind him in an inescapable force.
Aleron felt the immense pressure of the incoming attack. Although he had been the one to open this gate, he hadn't expected such an aggressive response from the guardians. Cold sweat trickled down his forehead. He swallowed hard, then shouted with a slightly trembling voice, "Tauriel!"
In the distance, Tauriel only smirked, her eyes shining with hidden amusement. She didn't respond immediately, letting the seconds pass, allowing Aleron to feel the crushing tension and fear.
"Tch… I thought you had prepared everything," she muttered, her voice laced with mockery. Her gaze was like that of an older sibling watching their younger sibling mess up and now asking for help.
But at last, Tauriel moved. With a casual wave of her hand, the ground beneath her trembled, rumbling like a dragon awakened from its slumber. From within the mountain, golden roots erupted, moving swiftly like falling stars. They twisted and intertwined in the air before surging upward, racing to intercept the descending golden chain.
The impact shook the heavens.
The roots coiled around the chain, halting its descent in an instant. The air trembled from the clash of energies, shaking every inch of land beneath them.
Meanwhile, across the arena, Lein watched everything with a look of both amazement—and mild frustration. His gaze narrowed as he observed Aleron, as if the man was a never-ending nightmare.
"Aleron… just what kind of grudge do you hold against the Divine Sky Realm?" he sighed internally.
For a moment, his gaze met Aleron's from below. The man grinned proudly, as if asking for praise for his accomplishment. His lips curled in triumph.
