Flip the Coin [BL]

Chapter 13: 13. Tattoo

"Time out." I put the knife away from his throat and threw it in the sink, before grabbing his wrist until he let go. Walking into the bathroom I washed my face with cold water.

"Damn it." Fuck. That was really painful, my eyes still tearing up. I can't even remember the last time I cried and what the fuck, now I can't stop it.

Every time I got a grip, I though back to the scene I saw, and it hurt so damn much that I teared up again.

The door was slid open forcefully, it was only some cardboard paper make - shift door.

"What did you see?" He asked again.

"After the morgue, when you came home and lied in her bed." I said, covering my eyes with toilet paper, while sitting on the closed toilet.

"You felt it again?" He tilted his head.

"Yeah. Shit."

"Can you do that with a corpse?" He asked.

"Never tried." I said, knowing where he was coming from. I would prefer everything else to going to a morgue and touch a dead body. But I had plenty of motivation when I thought of the pain I just went through.

"Tonight, we go." Henry overbearingly decided, and I snorted, agreeing grudgingly.

"I will go sleep first." I said, washing my face again and crashing into the mattress that had been so meticulously examined. The moment my body touched the mattress, I was out. Still hungover, still tired, still pained by emotion that I didn't know a human was capable of.

The first time I saw the future was when I touched my mothers hand and flipped the coin. Usually, I would see some nonsense, like how she cooked the day before or anything. But this time the coin turned back, the woman uncovered her eyes, and I saw my mother drowning.

Knowing that we would go to the sea, I bawled my eyes out saying that she would drown there, and that she shouldn't go. Ah– it was then that I had cried for the last time.

She still left with the rest of the family, only leaving me behind. Her last words to me were that she would prove me wrong.

Back from this trip came a corpse and a family full of hatred, sure of me having cursed my mother to drown.

Since then, I never looked into someone's future again.

Waking up by a kick, I stirred and opened my eyes.

"Let me get this straight, you want my help, but kick me? Go yourself you fucker."

"You are still the main suspect."

"Yeah, but you have to prove my guilt, not I my innocence. The fucking law says so."

"I am the law."

"I want to slap you so badly." I said, rising, and going for the cooker that held everything warm.

"Want to eat?" I asked and didn't wait for an answer, serving myself before going to the mattress and eating with closed eyes, still hella sleepy.

In the middle of me eating, I saw Henry taking a bowl for himself.

"It's tiring to stalk people, I understand. Yesterday your drinks, now your food, tonight my services. Congratulate yourself, you are the first to milk me dry."

"You talk like a low-class prostitute."

"Even prostitutes don't get beat up that harshly."

"And how would you know that?"

"Cause I visited your Mum at work."

Henry stared at me incredulously, and I raised my eyebrows with a silent challenge.

"One black eye isn't enough?"

"Need another cold shower?" I asked, now feeling better with having eaten something warm and having slept a bit.

"Be thankful for your eyes turning psycho-read, just for that reason, I believe one tenth of your story."

"Be thankful for you sissy mole, or I would punch your face brutally."

"No more slapping?" Henry seemed nearly amused at our exchange.

"Upgraded to punching." I said while stuffing my mouth with food.

Henry looked at his phone before standing up.

"Let's go."

I hope I won't regret having eaten directly before going to touch a corpse. Standing up, I put my bowl in the sink, with him following suit before we left.

Henry looked back into my apartment while I locked the door. I sighed at him,

"Come by anytime and continue your investigation."

"You are so cooperative that it makes you suspicious." He said as we walked down the steps.

"Yeah, you know the best how you felt in the two moments I witnessed. That helped your case, and besides...."

"Besides?"

"I liked your sister. She was really....unique."

Henry was silent after that, but at least he didn't attack me again, which was progress.

We took a taxi when we arrived at a bigger street, and Henry gave the driver some address.

After a silent drive, we halted in front of the apartment I had seen while flipping the coin.

"Your apartment?" I asked, and Henry gave me a glance.

"Want to go in a school uniform?" He asked, and I looked down, having forgotten to change.

"Why didn't you say anything at my place? I could have changed there." Henry just smirked at me, and after he paid the driver, he led me inside the building to the elevator that was not in a good state, rattling upstairs.

Walking into the living room I had just seen, I felt like shit and sat on the couch, waiting for Henry to come back after changing. If I went without my jacket, my school won't be identified, even if caught on camera.

Something was thrown at me, and I grabbed it, it were black trainings clothes.

"Fine." I said, stripping and changing right there with my back to him.

"What is this tattoo?" I heard a stunned voice, and felt him moving closer. Fingers touched my back, and I swatted his hand away.

"Who allowed you to touch? Paws off." I got it a year ago, it was the woman with the multiple hands covering her eyes, ears, and heart. It was black and went across my whole back– a reminder to never again look into the future.

It isn't so simple to just hate the woman who looked the same, regardless of which colour the coin took on.

This ability....it had an excitement to it.
