Chapter 13: Deal
Blaze reconsidered her offer, seeing the possibility of killing two birds with one stone. But he wasn't satisfied with her manner of asking. He wanted her to come down from her high horses and beg him. So he simply said,
"No. I'm not interested in your ridiculous business proposition. Find someone else to pose as your husband. I'm sure one of your many admirers would gladly accept you." He turned his back on her ready to leave when Amelia called him in a raised voice.
"Wait... please."
Blaze stopped, a wide devilish grin stretching across his face.
"What would it take for you to change your mind? I'm desperate."
"Desperate!" Blaze turned to face her, a mischievous smirk dancing at the corner of his lips. "I like desperate."
Amelia felt a chill run down her spine as Blaze approached her one more time. She held her breath as his hand slowly touched the healing scar on the side of her forehead, sending a tingling sensation through her skin.
Blaze leaned close to her reddened ear, his action was slow, deliberate and promising, leaving Amelia gasping for breath. His lips sensually brushed across her earlobe as he whispered in a deep sexy voice.
"How about you beg me to be your husband."
A soft moan escaped Amelia's quivering lips as she struggled to form a word.
"P-please..." She stuttered, leaning slightly backwards and exposing her slim neck, as the sweet sensation of his voice slowly placed her at the edge of a precipitating cliff.
"Beg me like you mean it, Amelia. I want to hear you say my name." Blaze slowly trailed from her ear lobe down her neck, his lips so close to her skin and his warm breath driving her nut. He observed the way her chest was heaving up and down, pulling him like a strong magnetic force. He was fascinated with the way those soft cherries gracing the tip of her mound hardened under her light blue T-shirt in anticipation of his touch.
Amelia's grip tightened on the bed, her knuckles almost turning white from restraining herself as her body trembled in expectations of what was to come.
"Please, Mr Anderson..." She moistened her lips. "...please be my husband." She said breathlessly.
"Okay. It's a deal." Blaze pulled back, satisfied with his wicked taunting even though the sexy beauty had succeeded in arousing him.
Feeling ashamed and disgusted at herself, Amelia turned her face sideways, hiding the tears that blurred her vision. No one had ever made her feel this needy and at the same time mad. How can this man continue to toy with her mind and drop her like a disposable tissue? Was she that vulnerable?
Returning to his seat to hide his arousal, Blaze spoke in a more businesslike tone.
"If we are going to get married, it's strictly going to be on my terms. Deal."
Amelia nodded her head, too embarrassed and humiliated to look at him. She batted her lashes to push back her tears, but they fell instead, dropping on her white sheet.
Blaze was disappointed to see her tears. He thought Amelia was strong enough to handle her emotions. But beneath all that toughness and arrogance was a fragile princess.
He brought out his white handkerchief from his pocket and offered it to her.
"Crying doesn't suit you, little princess."
Amelia scowled at him as she snatched the handkerchief from his hand without saying thank you.
Blaze chuckled. "By the way, you do know that you are already married in the eyes of the laws, right?"
"Yeah." Amelia finally found her voice after a few seconds of self-chastisement. "Those bastards." She felt rage course through her veins like an angry serpent.
"You will have to divorce your current husband first before we can make our marriage official." Blaze stood up ready to leave.
"That won't be a problem," Amelia said, a new wave of determination washing over her. "I will divorce the scumbag first thing when I get home. I just need a lawyer to prepare the divorce paper."
"Marcus will handle it," Blaze said curtly, bringing out his customized black business card. "If you need my assistance in any way, do not hesitate to contact me."
"Sure." Amelia eyed the luxury business card as she received it.
"Marcus will attend to all your needs pending when the doctor discharges you."
"Okay. Thank you, Mr Anderson." Amelia smiled genuinely this time.
"Since you're going to be my wife, you can simply address me by my first name."
"Alright, Blaze..." Amelia cooed his name. "Thank you again."
"You're welcome, Amelia. I'll leave you to rest." He said and strode out of the ward, leaving Amelia daydreaming.
Shortly after Blaze left, Stacy returned, her eyes brimming with excitement and anticipation for hot gossip.
"So...what did you and Mr hottie discuss."
"Nothing." Amelia shrugged smiling sweetly.
"Nothing and you here blushing like a teenager in love." Stacy eyed her. "Out with it already and stop keeping me in suspense."
"Okay. But point of correction, I'm not in love. I'm just happy that the first phase of my plan has just been set in motion."
"What phase is this?" Stacy asked still feeling confused.
"Getting a powerful man to be my husband for a year," Amelia said proudly.
"Wait a minute, you are getting married to Mr Hottie?" Stacy's eyes widened in astonishment.
"Yes, immediately I divorce that scumbag that I never got married to."
Stacy cupped her open mouth before screaming Amelia's ear off in happiness.
"Stacy, don't forget we are in the hospital and I'm not the only patient." Amelia covered her friend's mouth, laughing.
"How long are you going to stay here?" Stacy asked.
"Two days at most. But I will give myself one more week to get rid of my limping before I return to the city."
"That sounds like a good plan." Stacy couldn't contain her excitement as she kept blabbing on and on about how they were going to deal with Gwen and Jerry.
"By the way, how do you intend to return to the city with all those hyenas looking to devour you," Stacy asked, yawning as fatigue slowly kicked in.
"You'll see." Amelia lay down on her bed, making space for Stacy to sleep beside her. "It will be a day to remember." She closed her eyes and dreamt of only beautiful things.
