Chapter 11

“Master! What basic magic spells will I start to learn?”

‘Of course the four elements, but before we start that we need you to learn how to apply mana. As you know, magic is difficult but if you look at it in another way. Mana and Magic is just so simple, like breathing.”

“Guide me Master to the beautiful world of mana”

Master Herbert discusses the importance of mana in general. Just like ki, mana is everywhere but mana is so simple yet a complex energy in the universe. Mana has many uses. If someone knows how to use mana then it will turn into magic. Then because mana have a form which is called magic, then magic is the one who will define your spells. Example of this is the basic element, fire magic. Then if you use fire magic, your spells will be related to the fire. Which mean every offense, defense, and support spells are under to fire magic, but he also said that you can learn different types of magic there is no restriction unlike the ki, which will led you to ki deviation and also the perks of magic is you can combine two or more magic to create another one. But the general rule for a mages learning everything is a must. You can use spells in different situations because of that mages are viable in a society.

“Master, what is the con of magic?”

“The cons of magic is that if you can’t handle a certain magic or spells, your body will be damaged or worse you will meet death.”

“How can we deal with that?”

“We can deal with that by two ways, first is the artifact. These items can help the user’s unleash their abilities or help them, thus it depends whether it was made to enhance or unlock. Second is what you know about by treating the body by making them enough to withstand magic. Just a little reminder Ayaka, if a person receives a high amount of ki or mana the body also will be destroyed. Thus you need medical knowledge to be able to overcome what your original body is made of.”

“Another question Master, I remember you said, that mana storage is located at the heart and brain, so isn’t our body already a mana storage, Master?”

“Oh I’m glad that you remembered Ayaka, and you are right. Our body is already a container of mana but the heart and brain are the ultimate container or storage of our mana.”

“How?”

“You see, the brain and heart can contain more mana than our body can hold. If you see in your media in your world, most of the stuff like one circle up to what numbers of circles can they put. Most of the time the brain and heart are the storage of it or the main dantian. Body is mostly just a container and the heart and brain are the one who can cultivate it and spread to the body thus making the body more stronger and hold more mana.”

“Huh, so it's just like a ki?.”

“Yes, as we mentioned many times two energies may have different roles but both of them can be similar with each other. No one is higher, both are equally good if you learn more about them.”

“I see, Master! By the way, what technique will I learn to achieve this one circle magician up to 8 or something?”

“We will not go on that route, Ayaka, but we will go on a simple route.”

“Ok Master, teach me the way.”

‘The technique we will introduce to you is The Marble technique. This technique is so simple and everyone can do it. First you need to feel the mana and to do that you need to be one with your surroundings or nature itself and focus by doing nothing or meditation.”

“Doing nothing?”

“Yes, because in any form you can feel the mana but it’s your choice if you want to do nothing or meditate.”

“Ok, Master and what’s next after that?”

“Most of the time you need to open your magic circuit or opening so that the circulation of mana will be good. But you will not need that because the mana already do that. The final step is to condense the mana to your brain and heart. By doing that you will achieve a small round condensed mana and after you produce that, you will combine those two which is easy. Then after you combine the product will be a marble which is filled with a high concentration of mana and then repeat the process whenever you want.”

“Is that all master?”

“Yep, pretty easy right?”

“Yes, more convenient than ki.”

“The usage of marble really depends on how many times you combine a marble. For example, you make a two cycle of marble and when you use that you can amplify your magic and spell, for energy, to transfer a mana and so on. Even when I say these things it depends if someone can take the mana you condensed and transfer them. But you can cut that marble so that the body where you transfer your mana can handle it.”

“Dang it’s easy! and after this I can learn some magic?”

“Totally! And the good part of learning magic is that you can do it in your mind!”

“Eh?! isn’t that busted?”

“Nope, because the downside of not practicing in real life is that you can’t measure the power.”

“Oooh, I see , I see. So it’s good to mix real life experience and mind experience.”

“Yes, and also I have a textbook for you to read and learn and it has instructions, so even if I’m not around you can do it alone.”

“Sweet!”

“Also it has a video and other features so that you know what you are doing.”

“Then shall we start Master?”

“Of course, let’s start!”

In the magic side of the simulation, we try to test on how to feel the mana on my surroundings and to myself. Not really hard because I already do this with ki. But the hard part of this is to distinguish what is your mana and the surroundings. Eventually I can already feel the difference between my mana and nature and other mana.

After that I try to condense my mana to my heart and brain. Both are easy if I do it simultaneously, but I need to condense it at the same time and it is confusing but it is easy if you try many times. I think that my ki training really helps me this time!

Then I produce a small marble and after that I combine it to make a normal marble. Took me between 2 weeks or less. Before we leave, we try to learn magic and the magic I learned is the five elements which are beginner friendly. Only two spells each of the element I cast which is producing the basic element like producing a drinkable water. The other is offensive magic which is all of them is a spear or more or less a javelin if I decide to throw it.

“I can't believe I learned so much in a short time!”

“Right! It makes things easier and faster when you learn something similar like ki.”

“Yes, Master! By the way, do you think I can mix ki and mana?”

“Totally!, but you should explore more of your power. Who knows you can develop new techniques.”

We exit the portal and head to the kitchen, it is midnight and we are famished even though we don’t really need to eat xD but the enjoyment of eating is such a privilege for a living organism.

We arrived at the kitchen and we started to procure ingredients at the stockroom. Grandpa Herbert makes fried rice with egg on top of it. He also makes some easy to make desserts. We enjoyed our time and when we finished I insisted on helping him with the dishes and he let me help him. After that he walked me to my place and bid a farewell.

“Uwaaa! Finally I can sleep, I can’t believe that I finished easily but the real challenge is how to apply what I learn. I need to go to the portal again to practice and apply in the real world! But for now I need to sleep even though I don’t need it.”

[Ayaka’s consciousness]

“Eh? Why do you summon me to my consciousness?”

“Well you start to learn magic now and I will help you without your consent.”

“I’m too tired to deal with your bullshit you know?”

“Huh? but you don’t need to sleep according to your body. So shut up and listen to my teachings!”

“Oh boy this is gonna be a long one!”

This bitch teaches me many magic and spells she knows. She also includes Grandpa Herbert textbook. It was hard as fuck and whenever I fail she lash huge amount of curses to me but it did not take long before the curses go away. Because I had an unknown mind when I obtained the unknown body. Anyway her curse is still taking effect on me because I’m not on the level of my masters.

“Hey! Hey! you should double chant so that you can counter and do offense at the same time you dimwit!”

“I’m trying you bitch! Look I can now double cast but I don’t know if this same power can be applied in real word!”

“It can be because I am great! Unlike when your master said you can’t scale the power in your mind. I used a spell so that you can train efficiently in your mind and real world without lagging.”

“Damn girl! You should say to me you have that kind of spell!”

“I just made this spell only now though.”

“What?! you mean as in right now?”

“Not really now as we speak but the moment I heard from your master.”

“Oooh.. I forgot that you can hear in the real world.”

“Anyway we should wrap your training and time to rest. See you later bitch!”

“Thank goodness we are finished! I’m glad you helped me, you hag! See you later!”

[Ayaka’s consciousness ending]

When I’m back it’s already morning. I hear the birds and I can feel the cold breeze of the morning. Even though I train like hell in my consciousness I feel relaxed somehow, did that woman cast a spell?

I took a bath and after that I went to the kitchen outside to greet my Grandpas and Uncle and tell them what happened to me last night.

“That woman is an impatient one..”

“Yeah, even though she is stronger than us she is surely an impatient one..”

“Amithbha.. Patience is a virtue..”

“I feel like you guys shit talking to her.. But I liked it!”

“Well it is beneficial if you learn faster and progress more, but we tone down many things and we scrape other things also.”

“Yeah we believe that a person can achieve greater heights if you progress at a normal pace.”

“But even though both of your Grandpa said that, we still accommodate what level the learner is. At the end of the day we only wish our disciple the best, even though we are not the best as a teacher.”

“Awww.. I’m touch <3 Thank you Uncle and Grandpas for guiding me! Even though some of your methods are questionable, still I’m glad!”

“Awww.. still this lady shouldn’t hasting your progress this much! She ruining it!

‘I agree!”

“I second demotion!”

“Yes! This ugly bitch is a menace in our life! But not really, I think she is lonely.”

“Oh.. I guess it’s understandable.. Now I’m guilty of what I’m saying to her.”

“Don’t worry Uncle, she doesn’t mind!”

“Really?”

“I’m kidding! I think she will remember this event

"Isn't that woman basically stronger than us?"

"Well she can teach Ayaka in her consciousness without any effort.."

"Right.. but again she only accelerated her progress but not her combat experience. I think that woman wants us to do the practical work."

"Oh right, if she meant to do that then we can start the combat experience. But after we eat our breakfast!"

After we eat, we go to the portal and we begin my combat experience. My opponent is Uncle Tom, no rules and just pure fight.

"Heh, so are you ready Ayaka?"

"Yes, Master Tom!

And so our battle started, I began to do double chants with defensive and offensive magic naming them simple barrier and magic missiles. Simple barrier is a self defensive magic and it’s just a basic barrier that can reduce a spell damage up to 40% of it and a neutral property and only one magic it can reduce. Another problem with this spell is I can only use it per 3 minutes. Magic missiles, an intermediate level of skill with a property of neutral which can shoot concentrated mana. This magic doesn’t have tracking abilities, so if the enemy is faster it can dodge all of the missiles and the cooldown is only 2 seconds but it can reduce to 1 seconds if I apply a buff magic.

The double chant reaches 3 seconds to complete, upon finishing, the magic missiles automatically release and reach Master Tom, then from the smoke made by my magic, Master Tom emerges from it with a pure ball of lightning then it throws it to me. I dodge and when it touches the ground the pure ball of lighting scatters and makes it an Area of Effect skill (AoE). My simple barrier has collapsed and I’m taking a damage of 60% of it’s damage which is nothing to me at first because my body can hold it but I feel somewhat annoyed? Or is it just that my body takes damage?

“Did you like my magic? I called that Pure Lightning: Dirty Bomb, this skill lets you add other properties or mini spells which can harm your opponent. I’m sure the after effect is now kicking in.

“Now you think about it Master Tom, it damages me but I feel more annoyed!”

We continue exchanging attacks and I am the only one who takes more damage. Master Tom's magic is simple and most of it is AoE spells and it also has pierce magic. Which is really good because if an opponent has immune skills it can ignore it. As for me, even though I take more damage, it's actually good because my body adapts to the damage. But I need to minimize it, so right now I’m chanting magic spells which can hinder other spells or magic to activate. For a solid 10 seconds, which is enough to turn the tide to my favor. This skill's name is Get Rekt. That woman made this spell when she was younger because she didn't want to lose to her brothers but she eventually lost because they just stalled the time.

Upon completing the chant I went full offense.

“Magic of Neutral: Sword of Property!”

“Oooh! I don’t know what you are planning but I will answer your attack!”

“Fire Magic: Spear of Ifrit..”

“Get Rekt Master Tom!”

“Why did you cast an anti magic spell! Also it’s unfair that you can use magic!”

“W-wait! Don’t run Master Tom!”

“This is also a magic which predates the birth of the universe! Normal Magic: Run!”

Master Tom, used his Ki to flee even though he can fight me using it. While he is fleeing he chants and tries to cast magic. None of them are working because my skill is still within the time. When the time comes up everything comes back. The nature of this skill is good if you want to target two or more opponents but you can’t disable any magic that is already deployed in the field and also this spell can target enemies.

After that, when he can cast magic again he shouts that he will end the bout and I should embrace the impact. I want to cast higher spells that can basically interfere with you while casting or an anti magic spell which basically cancels each other's magic but I think one anti magic is good for a match to see the effect of it. Also I think Master Tom basically downgrades his body to match me. If he’s not then my magic doesn’t affect him. Now I am chanting an intermediate barrier to reduce the damage for 80% for around 7 minutes and the good news of it is not only 1 or 2 spells but it can reduce incoming spells for a 7 minutes!

[Tom’s POV]

“[This brat is improving day by day which I’m proud of. Though I want to prolong the fight more, she needs to organize first herself. The spells and magic she throws are top of the line but she struggles to cast both of them at the same time. I think she is getting nervous? But again this is her first real life experience. To do a double chant or multiple chant, you need a high concentration. She also doesn’t use any maneuver magic, she is only relying on her natural movement because she restricts using ki for this match. Unlike me who used it, but who cares, as long as you stay alive. Now I’m chanting different spells and combining them which can end a solar system. But this skill is normal one, because the book Herbert gave to Ayaka is the baby book for magicians, this spell doesn't belong in that book. Another reason why I need to end this is because she cast anti magic! I haven’t revealed much basic magic on her and she slaps me with an anti magic? How dare she! But for real she is good and I bet she wants to use other types of magics but I need to calm her down. Here, Ayaka, taste this magic of mine! Elemental Magic: Basic Gathering!]”

[Tom’s POV end}

When Uncle Tom finished his magic he then teleported within my range with a ball of magic. The good news is I already finished my intermediate barrier and am planning to match his magic power output, so that the impact is equal. I need to think of magic to match it but it’s too late and the only one I have is the Magic of Neutral: Sword of property.

When we clash our magic with each other, the impact and explosion is so strong but neither of us are blown away. As always I get more damage than inflicting damage to my opponent.

"Thank you for the bout Master Tom!"

"Although I used Ki you stick to your principle! Good job! but you should stop yourself casting anti-magic! The fight will not be educational if you cast this restriction spells."

"Well I just try if the anti-magic is working but this skill is so powerful even if you nerf yourself Master."

"Yeah, even I am surprised when I can't cast some spells or use magic. Oh by the way, use those restriction spells in specific events. Debuffs are ok because you can have those even without spells. You just need to cast restriction spells if your opponent is doing bullshit."

"Noted, Master Tom!"

"Also, you need to dodge and cast some magic that can help you in a fight and not only relay to your body!"

"I need more training Master Tom, because you know I only learn this without any experience."

"Oh I forgot that! But anyway don't restrict your magic but put things you learn in different ways. Like my Pure Lighting: Dirty Bomb."

"Yes, Master!"

After our bout, Master Herbert and Master Bing, give me some pointers to my fight. They suggest that if I'm doing double chanting I need to split my mind into 3 parts. Another one is I need to cast some curse magic in this way when I cast debuff magic, it will likely prolong and fatal to them. They classify debuffs and curse magic differently. Debuff magic can slow down and will make your attack power less, but it can only last for a couple of minutes. While curse magic can be permanent which can fall in the debuff magic category. But the difference is that curse magic can't be undone most of the time. The only way to counter curse magic is making another curse magic specializing to counter it. Divine or other types of magic is doable but need time to cast and need higher output. Unlike curse to curse, it can cancel immediately no need to make higher output of mana.

For debuff magics any magic can counter it. That is why divine magic is more suitable to counter debuff magics. They also point out that even though my barrier is good I need to mix some spells in my barrier. So that even my barrier has been broken, it has another effect.

They don't comment on my spell attacks because magic can be simple to complicated. It's up to me if it becomes wonderful or simple. They only remind me if I don't know the spell or magic of my enemy I just need to dodge. Analyzing is also part of being a magician so it makes sense. I will only tank their magic if I'm in a hurry or being bored. Talk about being disrespectful to the enemy! After that I will use the A.I again to gain experience and after that I will test my knowledge and experience because I will be in a different territory of this land after my beef with the A.I’s!
