Chapter 1905: The Threelives God Mirror
A… goddess? Xi Ning and Luo Tiandu were stunned.
The spearwoman’s aura was hard to read. They couldn’t sense her cultivation base.
Still, she’d just destroyed a divine remnant with a single thrust of her spear. That was far beyond Great Realm experts!
“This forsaken place isn’t suitable for people like you.” The spearwoman’s purple eyes swept across Xi Ning and Luo Tiandu before landing on their treasures.
A Daoist seal flowing with starlight, and a Dao Sword swathed in colorful radiance.
“Two upper-level Creation Realm divine treasures? It seems each of you is backed by a god. Let me have a look,” the spearwoman said with obvious interest. She raised her hand and beckoned.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Both the seal and the sword flew from their wielder’s hands. Xi Ning and Luo Tiandu were flabbergasted.
Just what kind of terrifying existence is this woman?
“The crafting is actually rather extraordinary, but I can tell that these treasures’ true owners are at best Greater Gods,” the spearwoman commented casually. “It’s a pity, but here in the Immortal Realm, with your measly cultivation bases, you can in no way display these treasures’ true powers.”With that, she tossed the treasures in the air, returning them to the divine children. Xi Ning and Luo Tiandu inwardly sighed in relief.
Luo Tiandu clasped his fist in greeting. “Senior, many thanks for lending us a hand. This junior is called Luo Tiandu, and I’m from the God Domain’s ancient Luo Family. Might I ask for your honorable name and surname?”
The spearwoman avoided the question and said, “I saved you in passing, that’s all. That said, I’d like to take the opportunity to ask you something.”
“Please go right ahead, Senior,” said Luo Tiandu.
“Who is the ‘Fellow Daoist Su’ you spoke of earlier?
Xi Ning and Luo Tiandu were stunned. They suddenly realized that this mysterious spearwoman had heard their conversation earlier!
Xi Ning took a moment to calm herself before responding. “I won’t hide it from you, Senior. ‘Fellow Daoist Su’ refers to Su Yi.”
The spearwoman’s gaze was instantly strange. She grumbled, “So, it really was that guy!”
Her voice was tinged with resentment.
Xi Ning’s gaze focused, and her heart shook. Don’t tell me there’s a grudge between Su Yi and this mysterious spearwoman?
Luo Tiandu was stunned. Don’t tell me this powerful goddess is after Su Yi?
“Let me see the news in that jade slip,” the spearwoman said suddenly.
Xi Ning’s first impulse was to refuse, but when she thought about it, she realized that this information had already spread throughout the Immortal Realm. There was no point in hiding it, so she just handed over the jade slip.
The spearwoman instantly disregarded them both and read the slip’s contents with great interest. From time to time, she’d sneer and comment derisively.
“Hah, that’s all?”
“A few of the gods’ Great Profound Stage dogs, that’s all. Killing them doesn’t mean anything.”
“That divine son, Fu Tianyi, is worse than a pig. How could he fail to kill that Su guy even after all that?”
“A god’s avatar of will? I can tell at a glance that this Divine Venerate Eternal Sands guy is an idiot. Why make cannon fodder out of yourself? If it were so easy for gods to intervene directly in the Immortal Realm’s affairs, the mightiest of the gods would have done so a long time ago. Why wait all this time?”
Suddenly, the spearwoman frowned. “Why doesn’t this jade slip say anything about how Su Yi resolved the situation?”
Xi Ning explained, “Lesser cultivators cannot gaze upon boundless divine majesty directly. The onlookers’ hearts and souls were under suppression. No one saw what happened clearly.”
“Oh,” said the spearwoman in apparent disappointment. She grumbled, “It’s only been a few short years, and that Su guy’s already this strong?”
Xi Ning and Luo Tiandu exchanged glances. Both fell silent.
The spearwoman returned the jade slip to Xi Ning. “Do you perhaps have means of contacting that Su guy?”
Xi Ning was instantly solemn. “To what end, Senior?”
“I want to fight him,” the spearwoman said without missing a beat. “If I wait any longer to fight him, I won’t get another chance to do so in the Immortal Realm.”
Xi Ning shook her head. “My apologies, but I’m afraid I cannot help you.”
Luo Tiandu felt a sourness in his heart. A’Ning really does care about Su Yi. She’d actually go so far as to deceive a powerful goddess on his account!
“You can’t do it, or you won’t do it?” pressed the spearwoman.
Xi Ning pursed her lips. “Senior, you saved my life. I naturally cannot go against my principles and lie to you. However, I also cannot do anything to endanger Fellow Daoist Su.”
Her voice was calm and determined.
The spearwoman’s purple eyes stared intently at her. She said nothing.
The atmosphere was instantly stifled and oppressive.
Luo Tiandu’s heart clenched. He said hurriedly, “Senior, please don’t be angry. Su Yi’s name has taken the Immortal Realm by storm, and he’s now standing where the wind and waves are fiercest. If you want to locate him, it shouldn’t be difficult.”
Xi Ning glared at him.
Luo Tiandu’s heart sank, but he hurriedly forced a smile and tried to explain, “Senior, I won’t lie to you. Su Yi and I are enemies, and sooner later, he and I will fight to the death. If you’re willing to trust me, you could leave this matter to me.”
Xi Ning said nothing. She could tell that Luo Tiandu was trying to help her.
“Even if I want to take someone down, why would I need your help?” The spearwoman shook her head. “Enough. You should leave. You’d best not linger here. There’s no guarantee that I’ll be able to save you next time.”
With that, her figure blurred, and she disappeared without a trace.
Xi Ning and Luo Tiandu felt a massive weight lift from their shoulders. The spearwoman was just too terrifying. Even just casually standing there, she put enormous pressure on them!
It was like gazing upon a goddess! And indeed, the two of them guessed that the spearwoman was actually a deity! They just didn’t know how exactly high her cultivation was.
“Strange. If that senior was a goddess, why didn’t the Laws of the natural order restrict her? And how did she descend into the Immortal Realm in the first place?” exclaimed Luo Tiandu.
Xi Ning found it strange too. After all, were it possible to descend into the Immortal Realm, many of the God Domain’s most terrifying experts would have done so a long time ago.
Suddenly, a voice resounded out of nowhere. “There’s a lot in this world you don’t know.”
The spearwoman had returned!
Luo Tiandu’s heart clenched. He’d been talking about a goddess behind her back. It was highly likely that she’d take offense!
“Something suddenly occurred to me,” said the spearwoman. She fixed her pale purple eyes on Xi Ning. “Are you from the ancient Xi Family?”
“I am.” Xi Ning nodded.
The spearwoman’s gaze shifted inscrutably. She suddenly flipped her hand, and a bronze mirror floated into the air. “This is a divine artifact carved out of Threelives Stone. It can discern the mysteries of someone’s destiny. Would you care to try it?”
Xi Ning was stunned, and she found this hard to believe. “Senior, have you perhaps sensed something about me?”
From the moment of her birth, the source of her talent hid undecipherable mysteries and a bloodline power not even the gods could fathom.
She’d discussed this with Su Yi, and they’d attempted to use the Book of Karma to learn the truth, but in the end, not even the Book of Karma could provide answers!
Yet now, a spearwoman they’d happened upon by chance seemed to have sensed something, and she’d even taken out a divine artifact and offered to try and help Xi Ning get to the bottom of things.
How could Xi Ning not be surprised?
“I picked up a few hints, but I can’t see anything beyond that,” said the spearwoman. “If you aren’t opposed, you’re welcome to test it. All you have to do is insert your soul power into the mirror.”
Luo Tiandu couldn’t help but ask, “Senior, is there any risk of a backlash?”
The spearwoman snorted coldly. “I’m far stronger than you. If I wanted to hurt you, do you really think I’d resort to trickery?”
Luo Tiandu instantly clamped his jaw shut.
Xi Ning hesitated, then agreed. She was hungry for answers!
Weng!
When she inserted her soul power into the bronze mirror, an unbelievable scene followed. Dense chaos energy rose from the mirror like churning clouds of smoke.
A mysterious world seemed to open within the mirror. Gradually, a boundless river came into view, traversing the void. Strange visions appeared amidst the waves.
Even gazing upon it from afar, Luo Tiandu felt his soul leave his body. It was as if he were suddenly in those turbulent waters, as helpless as a duckweed. The waves washed over him, carrying him downstream against his will. A wave of helplessness and despair washed over him.
Luo Tiandu couldn’t help but cry out, and he struggled with all his might.
Whap!
A fair, slender hand smacked him on the shoulder, startling him to his senses.
The terrifying power influencing his mind and soul receded like the tides, but his face was still pallid, and his clothing was drenched in cold sweat.
Now that his head was clear, he realized that it was the spearwoman who’d intervened to save him at a critical juncture.
“You’ve yet to become a god. Prying into the mysteries of the River of Destiny will only get you killed,” she said airily.
The River of Destiny! Luo Tiandu’s heart shook, and his scalp went numb.
He’d heard one of his god-level clan ancestors speak of an ancient legend. They said that there was a river that transcended even the River of Epochs, a place that even the gods saw as a taboo. They called it the River of Destiny.
Throughout the ages, numerous terrifying, powerful gods had attempted to grasp the mysteries of the River of Destiny, but practically none had succeeded. The River of Destiny was like a fleeting legend full of mysterious flair.
Yet now, the spearwoman was telling him that the vision reflected in the Threelives God Mirror was of the River of Destiny, and Luo Tiandu had come dangerously close to losing himself within it!!
It’s… actually real? That taboo place not even the gods can find? I actually saw it with my own two eyes?
As Luo Tiandu’s heart and mind shook, something unexpected happened.
Bang!
The vision reflected in the bronze mirror collapsed, and the treasure buzzed and shook violently.
Xi Ning let out a muffled grunt. She suddenly looked dazed, her beautiful little face full of bewilderment.
The spearwoman was obviously startled too; her eyes widened with astonishment. “Not even the Threelives God Mirror can discern your secrets? Don’t tell me someone has long since arranged your destiny? But who could possibly have been so capable? Don’t tell me that it was an existence that transcends the River of Destiny? No way… There’s got to be some other explanation, but…”
…The spearwoman sank into silence, and for a while, she just stood there. She obviously found this unbelievable.
Seeing her like this left Luo Tiandu and Xi Ning completely dumbstruck.
This was completely beyond the bounds of their comprehension!
