Chapter 35: Class Awakening II
I stared at the absurd list of skills, my thoughts spinning.
'Damn… I remember the main character having the Akashic Cube in that book I liked… but he didn't have this class.'
I squinted, trying to recall.
'Right… he never went to awaken another class after getting it, after all'
It all clicked now.
The Akashic Cube of Infinity.
That relic wasn't just rare—it was the trigger.
That's what led the system to finalize me as an Akashic Ruler.
"Are you done?" the old Awakener asked casually, standing there with his wrinkled hand resting on the staff.
I nodded silently.
Poor guy.
If he knew what kind of class I just awakened, he might've had a heart attack right on the spot.
Still… I said nothing.
Because this world, Final Life Online, wasn't like any other.
If word got out about what class I had—if anyone discovered that the Akashic Cube had synced with me and unlocked something beyond even Mythic tier—I'd be hunted.
And not by people at my level. Even level 1000 NPCs might come after me.
Final Life Online was built with high realism, so if an expert wanted to cross continents to reach here, they could. After all, every person in this world who was ever granted a Special class had left behind a legend.
If this got leaked, experts from across the continents might come either to recruit me—or to eliminate the competition.
"Alright then, just write your class here and you can go," the Awakener said.
I calmly wrote down a Taming class—my first official class was Ancient Tamer. Even if they thought I was lying and decided to test me, I could easily prove it.
"Hmm, a Taming one, huh? Still, we need to verify it. Many youths write the wrong one out of excitement. Go through that door. There, you'll receive your official class verification. Only after that will your ID card be finalized."
I nodded and stepped toward the door he pointed to.
It was a standard procedure. These ID cards were the only way to confirm someone's class, and they were also used by local inhabitants to recruit adventurers into academies, organizations, or guilds. Basically, it was a certificate of identity and capability.
So, of course, the Awakening Hall would make sure no one could fake it.
I walked through the back door the Awakener had pointed to.
Inside, the atmosphere felt more official than relaxed. Several stone desks lined the room, each manned by uniformed NPC inspectors—stern-looking individuals with clipboards, scanning crystals, and stacks of paperwork. A few other players were seated in a waiting area, quietly filling out forms or fidgeting with their temporary certificates.
As I stepped in, one of the inspectors looked up from his desk. "Next."
I approached and handed over my temporary certificate—the simple slip issued right after awakening.
The inspector read it, raised an eyebrow, and muttered, "Tamer, huh?"
He gave a brief nod and called out toward the rows behind him, "Aster! Got a potential beast class over here."
A tall man with a long coat and a symbol of the Tamer's Guild stitched into his shoulder stepped forward. His presence felt calm, but serious—experienced.
He walked over, glanced at my certificate, then looked at me directly. "Come with me."
I followed him down a short corridor into a side room, bare except for a single table and a crystal orb resting on a pedestal in the center.
"This is the standard taming verification chamber," he said, motioning for me to stand near the orb. "Before we issue your official ID, we have to confirm the legitimacy of your class claim. It's routine."
I nodded silently.
"Do you have any skills related to taming?" he asked, his eyes sharp as they studied my reaction.
I nodded and activated Blessing Boost. A gentle glow pulsed from my hand.
"So… Blessing Boost. That's a good skill. A rare one too," he said, his tone slightly impressed. He noted it down, then glanced up again.
"Any more?"
"Another one is Swap," I said. "I can switch places with my tamed beast."
He raised a brow and quickly scribbled that in too. "Useful for quick positioning or dodging."
"And one more," I added, "It's called Heart Space. It lets me store my tamed beast temporarily, even mid-battle."
His hand paused for a second. "Heart Space too, huh? That's a strong utility skill. Not many early Tamers get that one."
"Got any more?" he asked casually, although his tone had shifted slightly—he was clearly starting to piece together that I wasn't a normal beginner.
I just smiled faintly but shook my head.
"So, you've got a Tamer class with three known skills… Not bad at all."
He turned away and placed my verification crystal back on the counter, then slid out a small device and fed in the registration form.
A few clicks and pulses of light later, a polished ID card emerged from a slot.
"Here it is," he said, handing it to me. "Your official ID card. Keep it safe—this is how most people verify who you are. For now, it's free. But if you lose it, a reissue costs ten gold coins."
I nodded, taking the card carefully.
It was lightweight, glowing faintly, and displayed:
Name: Blade
Class: Tamer
Potential Rank: B
"If you're wondering what 'Potential' means," the man began, "basically, it's a measure of how powerful your awakened class is—or how much natural talent you've shown during the awakening."
"The ranking goes from E to EX," he continued. "E being the weakest. Then it moves up—D, C, B, A, S, SS, SSS, and finally EX."
"A 'B' rank is considered average—solid. 'A' is above average. But anything above that…" He let out a soft chuckle. "That's the realm of geniuses."
I nodded and then left.
Stepping out of the Hall of Awakening, I took a deep breath. The cool mist of Moonmist City brushed against my face as I made my way toward the nearest inn. It didn't take long to book a room—simple, quiet, and just what I needed.
Once that was done, I logged out.
My playtime for the day was over.
Final Life Online allowed a maximum of 20 hours of gameplay per day, which was still far better than most other games that limited players to just 12 hours.
