Chapter 20 - You Stupid
There are many types of undead, usually only appearing in crypts or cemeteries, but if Necromancers are involved, they can appear anywhere. This chapter will outline the most common types of undead and the best ways to destroy them.
Skeletons: The weakest and most common type of undead. They are vulnerable to bludgeoning damage, as their bones are brittle and can be easily shattered.
Zombies: These undead are slow-moving and relatively weak, but they can be challenging to put down permanently. They are weak to fire and radiant damage, which can burn away their flesh and prevent them from regenerating.
Wraiths: These undead are ethereal and can pass through walls and other obstacles. They are immune to physical damage but are weak to magical attacks.
Ghouls: These undead are fast and agile and can quickly close the distance to their targets. They are weak to cold damage, which can slow them down and make them easier to hit.
Liches - Masters of the dead, they can summon other undead to fight alongside them. They are considered to be psuedoimmortal and can only be permanently killed if their phylactery is destroyed.
The rest of this chapter will explore each of these and the rarer types of undead, such as Vampires, Mummies, Revanents and Banshees.

Chapter 20 - You Stupid
Mason ran. His new invisibility skill made getting away easy. He dodged a few arrows shot in his general direction, but most of them never came close.
After getting a few miles away, he placed his trunk behind a huge tree and stepped inside. Sitting on the floor, he tried to think things through.
From what Malika had said, the last time Mayry had last been seen was when they had said goodbye two and a half days ago. Had he really been in the cave that long? It had only felt like a few hours.
He had gotten back to Town just to find out he was a wanted criminal. He'd be happy to talk to the guards, but he suspected Malika would find a way to make him look guilty. Could this be his doing? Kidnapping the Mayor's daughter seemed like a lot of effort to go through just to spite someone you had only met once.
The quest he had been given to find Mayry didn't give any clues as to where to start, so he figured his inn room was warded so no one could get in. Mayry had already shown that she could get in through the window, so maybe she was lying low there for some reason, or perhaps she had left him a message.
Either way, he needed to get to his room, but how?
He could use Invisibility and walk straight in, but he worries that the guards had seen him disappear and might be ready with countermeasures. He could climb the walls, but he had noticed while escaping the stones glowing a deeper red and could feel the heat coming off of them from a fair distance.
If any future skill selections included a teleport or movement skill, he would take it in a heartbeat.
Remembering that he still had to choose a new skill, he wondered if any of these could help.
Looking at the screen again, Mason considered each.
Martial Arts (Basic) - You'll know kung fu.
Theoretically, he could just beat up the guards, but even he wasn't dumb enough to believe that would work.
Random Summon (Advanced) - Call forth a random creature from the cosmos and have them join you in battle.
Depending on what he summoned, it could work. If It could fly or jump high enough, it just came down to luck.
Healing (Basic) - Love hurts, and so does healing.
Useless, he couldn't think of a single way that would be useful in his current predicament.
Choosing the only one that had any chance of working, he mentally selected the summoning skill.
He felt the usual rush of Infomation beam into his head. This skill felt different to the others, there were lots of bits of information instead of a big clump.
He knew that he could only use it once a day, that the creature that appeared could be anything, but the stronger it was, the more Mana it took to summon it. He also knew that the ability worked by using his Mana to pry open a rip in reality, reach in and pull something out.
Exiting the trunk and returning it to his inventory. He activated his Invisibility and ran toward the Town until he could see the walls.
Crossing his fingers and taking a deep breath, he activated the ability. A string of Mana shot out of him, seemingly impacting nothing. It created a fracture that hung in the air. More and more, Mana left him, making the fracture bigger until he saw a thick black hand covered in fur push its hand through; its arm followed, as did the rest of it.
Mason's jaw was agape as he stared. Out of the rip, in reality, came a giant gorilla.
In the deepest voice Mason had ever heard, it said, "What want?"
Mason took a moment to reply, too busy staring. Eventually, he said, "Um, hi, I don't suppose you can fly?"
"You stupid." Was all the creature answered with. Mason sighed, not sure if it was a question or a statement.
"No, I need to get into that town."
"Then go." It said bluntly.
Mason, annoyed, said, "No, I need to get in without being seen."
The gorilla looked like it was thinking, then looked at Mason and said, "Okay."
The beast grabbed Mason, lifted him into the air and threw him over the Town wall.
While flying through the air at great speed, Mason had just enough time to activate his Invisibility before he soared over the town wall and landed without an ounce of grace in a part of Town he had recognised as being relatively close to Viv's shop.
There were people approaching, probably to investigate what had made the high pitch "aaaaaaaaaaagh" noise.
Running out of Mana fast due to the summoning, he made his way to Viv's shop, hoping that she would at least hear him out.
Stepping into the shop, he saw it was deserted. With 2 points of Mana left, he deactivated his Invisibility. He chugged a Mana potion, feeling his mental faculties sharpen.
He approached the backroom and called, "Viv, are you there?"
Hearing a crash of glass and a muttered, "oh fuck." He assumed he had interrupted whatever the alchemist was doing. Her head appeared around a corner, her eyes widening when she saw it was him. "Mason! Do you know how many people are looking for you? I'm assuming you didn't kidnap Mayry?"
Mason just chuckled, "As if I could." The smile faded from his face as he continued, "I was clearing out that spider cave of yours, I came back, and she was gone. Everyone seems to think I had something to do with it."
Smiling sadly, Viv said, "That's pretty much what I told them."
"Wait, they questioned you?"
"Yes, thoroughly. The Elf who spoke to me twisted everything I said to make you look guilty.
"Girly looking? Massive wanker?"
"Yep, that would be him."
Mason's hands clenched into fists as he growled, "Malika."
"I'm worried about her, Mason. She would have told me if she was leaving the Town."
The door to the shop creaked open, Viv's head whipped in Mason's direction, but he was gone.
Mason placed a hand on the child-like woman's shoulder and whispered In her ear, "I'm still here; just act natural."
Giving an almost imperceptible nod, she plastered a smile on her face only to replace it immediately with a scowl, when she saw who had walked in.
"Hello sir, can I help you with anything?" The word 'sir' dripping with venom. Malika, not bothering with niceties, demanded, "Where is he?"
Rolling her eyes, she replied, "Who?"
His hands glowed green briefly before he took a breath, and they returned to a normal colour. Through gritted teeth, he said, "You were talking to someone; I heard you."
"Oh, that?" She paused. "I find talking to the ingredients helps to calm the chaos within them."
"Hmm. There were reports of someone screaming like a little girl not far from here. You wouldn't know anything about that, would you?"
"Nope, nothing at all, no little girls here. Just an old alchemist talking to her powdered kata root. I'll be sure to report anything suspicious to the" she paused, looking directly at Malika, "proper authorities."
He turned and stormed off; Viv called after him, "Have a nice day, Malika."
Just about to reach the door, he paused. "You know. I'm quite sure I never told you my name." He turned to look at her with accusing eyes.
Mason whispered into her ear, barely making a sound, "You're the number one Hunter in Town. Do you ever introduce yourself?"
She took a moment to make sense of what Mason had said before repeating it aloud for Malika.
A suspicious expression turned smug as he replied, "Well, my reputation does often precede me." He turned and left.
Viv let out a breath, and Mason reappeared.
"Fuck that was close." Viv half laughed.
"What an absolute prick."
"You need to get out of here. Find Mayry. She has to be somewhere. Come back once this blows over, and il pay you for the spiders." She said, all while poking him towards the back door.
Mason gave her a grimace, "Yeah, about that…."
"Doesn't matter right now! Go, before he comes back!"
"Ouch! Jheeze, fine, I'm going, I'm going." Poking him harder.
Invisibility back on, he stepped out of the back door and headed towards the Inn, extremely careful not to bump into anyone.
Making it to the Inn, he stepped inside as an old lady pushed the door. He saw that Nays wasn't at the front desk. Slightly disappointed, he headed upstairs.
"I've already told you, no one can open it but the person it's keyed to. Not until the timer runs out, and he booked for the whole month!" Nays was shouting this at a guard who was either just not understanding or not listening to her.
"Listen," the fat guard said, “I need to get into this room. I don't care how you do it. Just get it done. I’m going to grab some food, and if it's not open when I get back, there is going to be trouble, ye hear?”
He waddled down the stairs, leaving Nays staring at the door.
“Don't freak out," Mason whispered in her ear, causing her to freak out.
"Eeek." She cried, jumping a foot into the air.
She looked around and saw nothing. Mason appeared, making her jump again.
"Dammit, Mason, stop doing that!" She swatted his shoulder. Her eyes widened. "Everyone is looking for you! They've been trying to make me open this door for days, but I can't!"
"I know, but shhh, come inside." Mason tried talking in a quiet, soothing way, but she hesitated. "You… didn't kidnap that girl, did you? I mean, you were really nice to me, so I didn't think you did, but… Mason, everyone thinks you two got into a fight, and then she disappeared. Do you know what going on?"
"I can explain. I don't know where she is. I went to kill some spiders in a cave for an alchemist, and when I came back, everyone was after me. I really have no idea where she is. I'm hoping she left a note in there." He said, pointing.
Frowning in confusion, Nays asked, "You gave her permission to enter your room?"
Smirking, he answered, "no, but she got in through the window once before."
"We're four floors up, there's no way…."
Shrugging Mason asked "Are you coming in or not?" He held out his hand to her, "I understand if you don't trust Sparksfords most wanted man, but I could really do with some help."
Mason heard footsteps coming up the stairs. She grabbed his hand and ,,said, "Okay, I trust you… please don't kill me."
Mason pushed the door open and walked in, Nays followed, and as the door closed, he heard the fat guard say, "Oh, you got the door open? There's a good, wai-."
The door closed cutting off the guard.
"He won't be able to brute force his way in, will he?" Mason asked dubiously.
"Him? No, not unless he's part Dragon."
Mason nodded and looked around the room. Everything looked exactly the way he left it, apart from the bed. There was a note written in Mayry's handwriting.
Reading over it, Mason only had one reaction.
"Fuck."
