Chapter 5: The Gods' Tempestuous Arrival
[Nova Empire Planet G-69]
The entire planet groaned in terrible agony.
All across the surface, supermassive volcanos tore open the face of the blue and green planet- scarring the orb with ruinous orange cracks. The molten orange blood that lay beneath the crust boiled to the surface in torrentous rivers from the planet's numerous open wounds.
Superheated ash- pouring by the millions of tonnes from the hundred volcanoes- choked the once blue sky and set the once lush forests alight in a raging conflagration of a planetary scale. Entire continents burned helplessly as every lifeform that called those forests home died a horrible death as they burned from inside out- having inhaled ash heated to 700 degrees Celsius.
The seas and oceans boiled alive all life in them as the ocean floor cracked open.
The once glittering cities that dotted the planet's surface lay almost abandoned. Clean streets and motorways, airports and starports, hydroponics farms and hyper-entertainment forums alike… all lay in ash-covered ruins now as they slowly melted from the intense heat. But even now, the cities were only almost abandoned. Cowering in air-filtered safe rooms and deep bunkers, those pitiful souls who were left behind forsaken refused to pray as- even to their last painful moments- cursed the gods.
All of them did. Even those that found a fleeting hope in the ships that scooped them from a fiery death.
Of the two-hundred million souls that once called it home, only a scant two or three million escaped their planet's armageddon. They escaped just in time to watch the planet die a violent death- escaped just in time to find the rest of the galaxy burning as well. There was no salvation to be found.
And as one, they blamed the gods.
For they were the cause of this, the denizens of the planet held no doubt of that. They saw it with their own eyes after all. Saw how not even nine hours ago, the gods walked the earth and fought the ruinous battle that now spelled the doom for their world. And likely for the rest of the galaxy as well.
So, they cursed them all: The God of Earth, The God of Wind, The God of Lightning and the Dragon God.
But they knew that their curses fell on deaf ears, for even amongst the gods, there were no true victors that day.
[One hour before the Gods' arrival to the MCU]
Aqua green eyes turned their gaze to the blue sky above- clear and warm apart from a few wisps of white clouds. The soft rustling of the green trees made for a calming melody to his ears as he lay on the soft grass.
He smiled fondly.
Aether, the glorious head of their not-so-little family, had told them that they were to traverse farther than any soul in this existence had ever dared to defeat a great evil. Across a sea of stars, past the great void that lay beyond them and through the veil of realities themselves.
It sounded like quite an adventure- he honestly could not wait!
Would they be like birds soaring into the endless blue sky, free and singing as the stars passed them by? Would the others sprout white wings like he could and join him as they danced in the air day after day? Would they learn good tastes and enjoy apples and wine as he did?
Venti could only hope.
A care-free grin spread across his pale face as he lay on the soft, green grass of a hill as the beautiful wind rolled over the hills and across himself- tussling his green-tipped braids and sneaking into his sleeves of his white shirt and his shorts- tickling him across his bare skin and through his tights.
Maybe he should compose a song for the occasion?
Languidly, he raised a slender hand up over his pretty face- just in time to catch an apple that the wind had plucked off the branch of a nearby apple tree. He wondered if the apples were just as delicious there as they were here in Monstadt.
And though their purpose was to rid the world of those who would bind and enslave others, it shouldn't hurt if they tried the local wines, right?
A song for their departure. Another for their journey and one last song for when they arrived to this new plane of existence. Or perhaps instead, he should make three songs for the journey and forget the departure and arrival? After all- as mortals were wont to say- 'It is the journey that matters, not the destination.'
Wind was like that- always moving, always free- he knew well enough.
From his time as a humble wind spirit to his effective ascension as one of the 'deities' of this land of Teyvat, it was the journey that made him who he was today: As a whispering wind brushing through the pages of history in an everlasting journey of wandering, singing and drinking.
As Venti, the Windborne Bard- mortal form of Barbatos, the Anemo Archon.
The Deity of Wind and of Freedom.
"… and of song, apples and fine wine. One day." Venti chirped to himself- letting a gust help him off the ground and onto his own two feet. Judging from the position of the sun, he figured that it was just about time to leave for this new world.
With a small skip in his step, he strolled down the hill- his black leather loafers brushing against the green blades of grass. He casually strummed the strings of his lyre and made it sing a small duet with the wind.
Venti took pride in the fact that Aether had- out of all the places in the Teyvat- chosen Venti's home city of Monstadt to be their main place of residence. And not a day went by here without him reminding his fellow deities of that fact.
Monstadt, the Moon City. surrounded as it was by lush evergreen woods, and enjoyed its mild winters and warm summers.
It was a place where the wind could fly free- a place where they could call home- and Aether had agreed. Just a few months ago, their blond and golden-eyed head of family had erected a homey mansion of white and brown painted wood atop a stone foundation. Just as any proper home should be, it was also warm and welcoming.
And as Venti pushed open the oaken front door, he mused that he should add 'Chaotic' to that description as well. Two dozen people ran around in a colourful flurry of cotton, leathers, silks lace and creamy skin- as they carried the last armfuls of suitcases and crates.
The manor was now picked clean of furniture- leaving nothing but clean wood flooring and the airy pastel wallpaper.
Everyone was so busy packing for the journey- picking up everything in the manor and carrying them through the shimmering blue magical portal that led to their own demiplane of existence where an even larger mansion was waiting for them to inhabit.
It looked like they had all that manual labour this handled, so he'll just stay out of the way and go straight for that bowl of shiny, juicy apples that people had yet to take along. And just as he had his hand wrapped around one juicy red apple, a gloved hand clasped tight around his shoulder from behind; and immediately, Venti could recognise that stony grip of stuffy obligation and commitment anywhere.
"Zhongli!" He greeted as he turned with a flourish- deftly slipping out of his fellow deity's grip like a wind would slip between rocks, "I thought you'd be at the other manor now overseeing the unpacking."
Zhongli, the Vago Mundo - mortal form of Morax, the Geo Archon.
The Deity of Earth and Contracts.
… And an all around lethargic, contract-obsessed bore in Venti's opinion.
In addition to being garbed in his usual crisp-cut black and gold suit and coat, Zhongli also had a bigger frown of unamusement levelled at him today. It was a familiar sight for Venti, even the times when Zhongli was particularly miffed at him.
"Yes, I was." Zhongli answered in that laid-back posh drawl that he had adopted a few thousand years back, "That obligation has since been fulfilled and I've moved on to the next: Ensure that everyone is ready for the journey to the new realm."
Venti took a big bite out of his apple as he pretended to listen. Honestly, if they weren't in the same family under Aether, Venti would have chafed so much having to work with him.
"Is it safe to assume that you have not done your own packing yet?" Zhongli questioned him with a long-suffering sigh as his gem-like orange eyes sharply deduced that the only thing Venti was carrying on his person was his lyre, an apple and the clothes on his back.
Venti grinned at that.
"Heh, and that's where you're wrong for once, Zhongli!"
For his part, the Geo Archon only raised an eyebrow of extreme patience, but allowed Venti to continue.
"You see, everything a bard like myself ever needs is the wind at my back, the ears of an audience and this lovely lyre of the name 'Der Frühling.' " Venti replied as he held up the lyre with a bright grin, "So, yes. I'm packed."
Zhongli nodded once.
"Knowing you… is it safe to assume that you have not read the pamphlet that I've distributed concerning the threats and points of interests of the new realm?" he asked almost rhetorically- likely knowing the answer already.
"We're Archons. Gods." Venti could only scoff airily with a carefree strum of his lyre. "These forms may be fragile, but on the scales of power, there is nothing that could even graze the bottoms of our feet."
And Venti knew himself to be in the right. Even if this mortal vessel of his were to perish, he and every ounce of his power would then simply become unbound by the flesh- growing a hundred fold more powerful. As it stood, there was no enemy in this realm that could weather the gales that he could conjure in his true form.
Hills would be uprooted and thrown about like mere pebbles. The woods and the forests would be shorn clean of all greenery as if they were wool on a shepherd's sheep. Castles and fortresses would be blown down by the winds from but a gesture from him. His full dominion over the wind would bear down on their foes as if the very sky itself turned against them.
So Venti simply gave a bright, easygoing smile to the Deity of Earth.
"What threat could this realm of 'Emsiyu' pose to us?"
A brief crackle of lightning announced the arrival of the last Archon in the family.
"This." Another voice- very feminine, but much sterner than even Zhongli's- snapped at him. And Venti had no choice but to freeze stiff every muscle in his small frame as a sword- a katana- with a razor sharp edge tickled the smooth skin of his throat.
Venti's aqua-green eyes swiveled to the wielder of the blade.
Deep blue hair in a fishtail braid that reached to her thighs, sharp violet eyes of glittering amethyst and the most unimpressed expression that she aimed at both of them. Wearing the traditional kimono dress of Inazuma, she was- by her own description- a matchless beauty.
Ei, the Raiden Shogun - mortal form of Beelzebul, the Electro Archon.
The Deity of Lightning and Eternity.
"Just proving my point, Ei." Venti very carefully muttered- still waiting for Ei to withdraw her incredibly sharp blade from his throat. It goes without saying that if there was anything that could harm a god, it would be another god's blade. But like any proud bard, that didn't stop him from talking, "With three Archons on Aether's side, nothing can touch him. Nothing can even come close to touching him."
"Regardless…" Zhongli's smooth voice joined to chide him disapprovingly- completely unconcerned and uncaring that Venti had a blade to his throat. "...Proper preparations and due caution are par for course, Venti. Which is why everyone is warming up and limbering their bodies in the event that we are to arrive straight onto a battlefield."
Nodding, and with a keen of perfectly crafted metal, Ei notified them before finally lowering her blade from Venti's throat and sheathing it in a single smooth and very well-practiced motion.
"Correct, we are about to depart for the realm of Emsiyu within the hour. Make your preparations, Zhongli, Venti." Ei notified them before she unsummoned her katana and gracefully walked past them.
"Understood, don't be late, Venti." Zhongli muttered as he went to follow Ei through the portal.
"Fine, I'll be on time this one time." Venti grumbled as he walked after them.
And he was once again reminded of how his two fellow Archons were such kill-joys. He hoped that the other archons would be more fun and personable when they finally meet with them, when they got back from their little side quest.
This trip to the realm of Emsiyu shouldn't take long at all: glide in, slay the evil enslaver and be back in time to have a nice evening drink under the moonlight.
And as Venti walked through the portal, he took the time to once again marvel at Aether's power. His aqua-green eyes took in the expansive sight of more than 20 square kilometers of calm green plains, peaceful woods and warm white-sandy beaches. All hidden away in its own plane of existence, with this, they can travel from realm to realm- even to this Emsiyu one- and any items they leave here will still be accessible.
Aether created this. He created this all for them.
[Grand Manor] and [Life's a Beach] were the names of the spells he used- Venti vaguely recalled.
He took his time to get to the mansion that was some ways away- strumming away at his lyre and humming softly with his voice. Walking along the cobblestone path, Venti found that everyone in their not-so-little family was either sparring lightly or taking a break from sparring.
"Everyone is taking this so seriously." Venti muttered in an incredulous tone.
Best and brightest of their realm were all here- sparring casual sword fights on the grassy fields, concentrating on magical exercises that lit up the beaches with the flare of fire, ice and lightning, or simply meditating atop smooth boulders. He cheerily waved at them all as he glided by. It looked like people were training for war. Just another reason for why this will be a quick, clean battle.
And then the bells tolled: the time was now.
A bright grin broke on his face.
This would be it. A whole new realm to explore, a whole new people to sing to, and a whole new selection of wines and ales to sample. Venti felt his heart swell in his chest in excitement- he had not felt this way since he first decided to live life as a mortal. It was far from a bad feeling.
Breaking into a jog, he ran down the cobblestone steps to the mansion- his green-tipped braids streaming in the wind as he rushed to the mansion where Aether waited for them all to gather. Looking to either side of him, across the fields and the beaches, he saw his new family doing the same. And with a playful strum of his lyre, he directed the winds to nudge everyone along with him- the cool tailwinds making each stride just that bit easier for them.
When they finally arrived in the main lobby of the luxurious manor, the other Archons were there as well. And there was Aether, still garbed in the same white gold and brown that everyone in the lobby had grown so accustomed to.
It was enough to make Venti smile.
And here they were gathered. From all walks of life. From Gods to knights to businesswomen to chefs to a funeral parlor poet to him, a humble bard. The single greatest collection of powerful individuals that this realm of Teyvat had ever seen.
A team. A family.
"Whatever happens…" Aether muttered with a tender smile as his golden eyes swept over them and met their own eyes one by one, "...know that I'm proud of everything we accomplished together and that I care about you all."
Venti felt his heart soar at that.
If there ever was any doubt that they would be victorious, it was dispelled in this moment as the light enveloped them- sending them to the realm of Emsiyu.
[Andromeda Galaxy - Nova Empire Planet G-69]
They appeared in a grassy meadow with their weapons drawn, their magic pulsing, and their wary, vibrantly-coloured eyes darting around their surroundings.
Blue skies with airy wisps of white clouds above their heads, lush green grass with flecks of fresh dew underneath their feet, a gentle wind breezing between their tense forms. Venti wasn't ready for how much like Teyvat this place was.
Then Aether's tablet chimed and a few of their number jumped slightly in alarm, but calmed down when they realised that his 'tablet' was only receiving another one of those 'text messages' again. It was a mostly neutral sound. Oftentimes, they were missions to convince another to join their family. Other times, they were missions to eliminate large groups of foes like a Hilichurl war camp and such.
This time, however…
"Here's what the slaver looks like." Aether said loud enough for everyone to hear as he lifted his Company Tablet high over his head for everyone to see the face displayed on the screen. "His name is Hevnokren."
Almost two dozen pairs of eyes took in the appearance of this 'Hevnokren.' A man that was in his thirties- frozen in the peak of his lifespan. Sandy blond hair, ruby-red eyes, strong jaw.
Venti thought that he was the sort of man you'd call handsome... if he didn't know that he was the sort of person to participate in slavery.
The thought of slavery always offended him, particularly since he was the Deity of Wind and Freedom. How many times in the history of his home city of Monstadt had he intervened to free them from tyrants and slavers? This Hevnokren won't be any different aside from the sheer swiftness of how he'll be defeated in the hands of three deities.
Engraving the man's face into his thoughts, Venti promised to himself that he'll take this seriously as his slender hand gripped his lyre/bow firmer. It was easier to do so now, when he had a face to focus on. Aqua-green eyes gave one last glance at the photo of the man displayed on the Tablet screen just before Aether lowered it back down.
Clearing his throat, Aether once again began to outline their 'Game Plan' as he often would when facing formidable opponents back in their realm of Teyvat.
"Alright, here's the plan." Aether announced. "The Archons will-"
"AE! THER!"
Everyone jumped in alarm at the sound of a voice booming Aether's name in the distance like rolling thunder.
Both the rasp of unsheathing weapons and the magical tinkling of weapons being summoned by magic rang out as their myriad weapons from swords to bows to polearms raised in caution and readied against any danger that approached them.
But there was none.
The voice had truly come from a great distance away.
"AE! THER!"
And just as the last one finished echoing across the horizon, another rolled over them. Someone was calling for Aether and it was not hard to imagine who.
"Is this 'Hevnokren' really beckoning us?" Venti muttered out loud in a puzzled tone. It was incredible how far his shouts were reaching. But why would the slaver do this? Venti thought that this was going to be a hunt, not a duel!
But Ei merely raised a slender purple brow in interest.
"It would appear that he wishes to face us in the open field, how unexpectedly honorable for a slaver." Ei commented- the blade of her katana still gleaming in her hand as began gracefully walking towards the shouting.
"Ei, wait, what if it's a trap?" Aether called out to her- making her pause to look back at him over her shoulder. Violet eyes like hardened chips of amethyst gems looked at him.
"Then I shall teach them that attempting to trap an Archon is an exceedingly foolish exercise in futility." Ei simply replied in her cold monotone before dashing off at a brisk pace- leaving Aether to cradle his forehead in a palm and sigh with fond exasperation. After all, it's not like Ei's straightforward decisiveness could be helped- it has always been in her nature to do so, even before her ascension to being the Electro Archon.
"Zhongli, Venti." His golden eyes swept over the two of them, "Go with Ei, hit Hevnokren hard. But retreat if he's too much for you three, the rest of us will follow after and feel out any weaknesses he may have."
Venti glanced at Zhongli before the two of them turned back to Aether to give a quick nod of assent.
"Allow us to meet his power head on, so that none of you need to do so." Zhongli reassured them as he began jogging after Ei- the luxurious brown coat of his streaming in the wind. Venti couldn't help but roll his aqua-green eyes.
"Please stay safe everyone. Let's see if we can't find a good bar in this realm after we win!" Venti gave them all a brilliant smile before floating off to join his fellow archons. His green cape fluttered gracefully in the wind as he exercised his power on the winds of this strange new world. And all the while...
"AE! THER!"
… Hevnokren's bellows only continued on and on- getting louder as he flew alongside Zhongli who was propelled onwards by those luminous yellow flashes of his Geo magic.
And with the three Deities united and moving side by side, they made their way towards the thundering sounds of their target's beckons.
"Venti, you are the fastest and quietest of the three of us, scout ahead for this Hevnokren." Zhongli ordered him and Venti couldn't help but bristle at that- having always disliked being ordered around. There was a reason why he and Zhongli never meshed well- Wind and Earth didn't get along after all.
But just as Venti was to retort as to how Zhongli wasn't his master, Ei joined the conversation… in her own way.
"Indeed. One scout's worth of foreknowledge is equal to a hundred warriors' strength of arms." Ei agreed- her violet eyes still resolutely locked at the horizon ahead of them.
And Venti couldn't help but put on an expression like he swallowed a particularly sour lemon:In this group of three, there were now two people who were ordering him around.
"I don't feel the obligation to follow your orders, but as I was about to suggest that very same course of action..." Venti replied with an airy tone before smirking at the unimpressed expression of the Geo Archon before chirping, "... I'll take a look!"
And with the final word in, Venti soared ahead with a gust of wind. His slender green and white frame flew into thin air and dispersed himself among the winds- incorporeal and invisible just like the winds that swept across the blue sky.
And as the Deity of Wind and Freedom soared higher and faster, the green meadows, the dark green forests and winding blue rivers beneath all seemed so small to him. Some smatterings of stone roads and little farm dwellings of mortals, Venti saw as he flew onwards into the horizon.
It was times like these that he felt most free- literally within his element that was the wind or 'Anemo' in the ancient tongues of Teyvat. The mere airy music of the wind sweeping across the sky made him sing along- a soft hum that was inaudible to most.
And for almost an entire two hours, he held that same soft humming tune as he glided across the sky before finally, right before his aqua-green eyes… he beheld a city as it appeared over the horizon.
Gleaming silver spires that rose from the greenery and rolling across the distance. Ships sailed across the sky above it- everything from massive galleons to those the size of dinghies buzzed all around the city like bees around a hive.
"AE! THER!"
It was from that city that the shouts were coming from.
And Venti flew in closer, gliding into the city limits still melded invisibly as he was into the wind itself. He couldn't help but be slightly distracted by the mortals that inhabited this city. Mortals, more mortals than Venti had ever thought existed, they all crowded the streets shoulder to shoulder in some places as they rode their flying carriages and metal coaches.
And their structures! It was like a forest of metal and glass that reached all the way to the clouds. Dozens and dozens of these structures shot from the ground all the way to the clouds above. And that was not all, Venti found as he flew up along the cloud-piercing spires- lost in thought. He had never seen towers built this tall back home, but he had heard Aether describe these structures once.
'Skypiercers? No, Skyscrapers.' Venti thought the term for these structures was.
He had been too deep into his cups at the time, but the sense of wonder remained in him. Venti even spotted people living within these spires! This realm must be at the very peak of its civilization to have been able to build towers so high that one could sleep soundly among the clouds even while grounded to the earth.
Was this what their home realm of Teyvat would look like in a few millennia of peace? He could only hope so.
Then Venti paused in shock as he beheld a sight atop the tallest, silvery-metal tower.
Still melded as he was into the wind, he floated and swayed with the breeze as his acqua-green eyes locked onto the remarkable sight.
There, on the tallest metal spire was perched a great dragon.
Larger than even the ones that Venti had charged with protecting his home city, large enough that it could have held Venti in its massive claw and he would have looked like a pair of chopsticks.
Lustrous metal scales, polished to a near mirror sheen, reflected the light of the midday sun. The metal hide looked as thick and sturdy as any castle's walls. Its gargantuan wings had a span that were larger than entire ships were long. Claws larger than Venti's own body were dug into the metal spire on which it was perched on.
All around the dragon, there were flying carriages. Venti could imagine that they were the local law enforcement sent to 'deal' with this shouting dragon sitting on their tallest tower. Yet it was clear that none of them knew how to approach the situation. Venti knew that he wouldn't have either.
More interesting was how its front claws glowed a baleful violet with unknown magics as it opened its cavernous maw from which...
"AE! THER!"
… the soul-shaking shouts that called to Aether were bellowing from.
Then the Dragon turned its massive head in Venti's general direction, and Venti couldn't help but panic a bit.
It can't see him, right?! He was merged with the wind after all, silent and invisible. Long seconds passed by as Venti grew increasingly tense under the dragon's gaze. Venti's invisible hand tensed around his lyre, ready to play the hymns of battle delivered on the fletches of his magical arrows as the Anemo Archon should. But just as Venti was about to gather his magic to deliver the first strike...
...the dragon looked away- craned its long, serpentine neck around as it scanned the horizon all around it. At that, Venti couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
It would seem that it was just a coincidence that the dragon looked in Venti's direction: It must have been just looking off into the distance.
Well, it seemed that he had found the source of the shouting. But Venti had so many questions that needed answers. Was this dragon Hevnokren's magical familiar? Did he leave his dragon familiar here in an attempt to distract them and lure them into an ambush? Should he head back to the other Archons and tell them about the dragon?
Where was Hevnokren anyway?
"LAAS YAH NIR!"
Venti raised a brow in interest as the dragon shouted once again into thin air- not Aether's name this time.
Then the dragon's glowing blue eyes looked straight at Venti's own widening aqua-green ones.
The metal dragon roared wordlessly, the sail-like wings spreading out with an intimidating web of blue and violet lightning crackling across the metal surface of the dragon's wings. And as it spread its wings, they cast a dark shadow on the streets below in what Venti recognized to be a grim omen.
If the Wind Deity was to fight the dragon here in the city, so many mortals would die in the crossfire. Venti couldn't allow it to come to that.
With a single mighty flap of its wings, a turbulent gust of air battered against Venti just as the dragon took to the air.
Then the Dragon shouted yet again. Not in another phrase of its dragon language. Not Aether's name. Not even the name of his mortal form that was 'Venti', but that of the Anemo Archon: his real name.
"BARBATOS!"
Venti's aqua-green eyes flew wide open at that.
It could see him! There was no question about it now. And it was at this point that Venti was forced to admit that the quiet approach had failed: Hevnokren's dragon familiar, and likely Hevnokren himself, now knew where they were. He had to warn the others!
But just as Venti was about to turn and fly back, the dragon shouted once again.
"YOL TOOR SHUL!"
And the sky became fire.
A roaring conflagration of flames exploded from the dragon's maw like fiery demons released from the abyss. The sheer breadth of the flames were enough to blanket a small town- not a city block, not two or three city blocks, but an entire town. The flying carriages that surrounded the dragon ignited like a barrel of gunpowder, and the bright orange inferno sucked in the air- greedily feeding on it to sustain itself as it unfurled closer and closer to the patch of sky where Venti was.
Unable to outmaneuver the sheer expansiveness of the fiery cloud, Venti was forced to outrun it instead. His slender form, now completely visible, shot back to the same direction as he came from, weaving in between the metal skyscrapers as the dragon loomed higher up.
"YOL!"
"A Pyro dragon!" Venti grunted to himself as he dodged yet another airborne wave of flames- much smaller this time only the size of a few buildings. "We're dealing with a Pyro dragon!"
"YOL!"
All around him, the massive fireballs impacted against the cloud-scraping spires- blasting out entire chunks of the structures and sending their flaming chunks tumbling down from the sky and onto the city streets below.
"YOL TOOR SHUL!"
Venti tried not to think about the screaming below them as the magical flames that Venti dodged now rained onto the crowded streets below, and the screams heightened to a crescendo. Even with the slightest glance, He had enough smell of burning flesh to last a hundred lifetimes. All across the spired city, howling alarms echoed and more flying carriages flew in every direction.
"I must return to Ei and Zhongli! Lead the dragon away from the mortals!" He grunted to himself as he yawed hard around one of those metal spires- hoping to outmaneuver the massive creature...
"FUS!"
...Only for the cacophony of shrieking metal to slash through the air as the dragon merely blasted through the entire metal spire. Its colossal mass of gleaming metal crashing through the wreckage of the damaged spire- breaking off the top quarter of the building-thick spire.
The screams of the people who were inside that falling structure rang out as they fell the entire kilometer to the earth with the tumbling broken spire all the way down onto the city below where it met the earth with a thunderous crash.
"So many mortals dead, such mindless destruction…" Venti muttered with anger and frustration. But he could not do anything but run. A battle here in the city would only lead to more mortals dead. And it was something that he wanted to avoid at all costs.
Gathering his dominion over the wind, Venti sent gale winds to propel himself faster.
However, his draconic pursuer was surprisingly fast despite its size. The metal dragon's gleaming hide cut through the air- its gargantuan wingspan roaring with purple fire like a meteorite. Venti was the Deity of Wind, so how was this dragon so fast?!
So Venti poured his power more into the wind around him: Propelling his small frame further and faster. Past the veil of sound. Then double its speed. Then triple. Then quadruple.
The features of the land far beneath him seemed to rush on by, and the briefest of glances behind him told Venti that the metal dragon was being left behind.
Venti almost felt safe.
Then abruptly, where the titanic metal dragon was once roaring in the distance, it began to catch up with him at an alarmingly fast speed. Venti's shocked expression gave way to a determined one as he tried to once again outmaneuver the dragon- swerving and diving.
But it was all for naught as the Wind Deity found himself within arms each for the dragon. Its immense metal front arm, thicker than the trunks of any tree, extended with an open claw- meaning to crush Venti in its metal grip.
"TIID!"
Having been travelling faster than sound, it was only now that the sound of the dragon's shout finally caught up to him.
The colossal claw- polished to a mirror sheen- was so close that Venti could see his own shocked expression reflected off the metal as the dragons' claw began enclosing around his entire bo-
!KRAKATHOOM!
A furious lightning bolt as thick as a man struck from a cloudless sky, and impacted against the dragon's shoulder.
And despite the massive lightning strike not having visibly damaged the dragon's hide, it succeeded in distracting it a mere split second for a luminous meteorite made of perfectly cubic stones glowing gold soon to follow suit and impact against the massive metal dragon's back, and Venti knew that he was saved by his fellow archons.
The distractions allowed Venti to slip out of the dragon's closing grip.
Glancing all the way down two kilometers to the ground, Venti found the purple and brown figures of the other Archons- already glowing with the energies of their respective domains of Lightning and Earth. Ei in her purple kimono and Zhongli in his brown long coat, both casting whatever spells that could reach all the way up where Venti was.
The Wind Deity had never been so glad to see Ei and Zhongli.
"IT'S A PYRO DRAGON!" He shouted as he dived towards them to try and bring the dragon closer into their spell range- willing the wind to carry his voice to the ears of his allies.
"AE! THER!"
Venti hovered just above the grass with Ei and Zhongli as they all stood together as one- grim expressions on all their faces as they listened to the dragon shout the name of their family's head.
The dragon shouted once again before its massive claws once again glowed with magic. Then a carriage-sized fireball launched out of its outstretched hand. The angry yellow-orange ball of magical fire shooting down from the sky to shoot after Venti.
Aqua-green eyes widened just before Venti narrowed his eyes and gritted his teeth. Hurricane winds battered the side of the fireball- pushing it aside and deflecting it away from its original crash course with him and onto a patch of uninhabited countryside.
Then they felt the impact.
The Fireball exploded with the force of a thousand kilos of gunpowder- sending up a black cloud of superheated ash rising up into the air from the devastated scrap of countryside where it impacted. And though it was a good kilometer away, the trio of Archons still felt the ground shaking slightly.
"YOL!"
And more soon followed as the Dragon weaved and banked in the sky to throw and Shout rain more fireballs down at them- the raging fireballs of immense destructive potential forcing Venti to focus his efforts in diverting them with his wind.
Meanwhile, the Ei and Zhongli responded with whatever long range abilities they could in kind. Lightning bolts, brighter than the sun and as thick as tree trunks, shot forth from the Electro Archon's Katana- impacting against the metallic hide of the dragon's chest- doing absolutely nothing. More of Zhongli's meteors were conjured from sky, the golden Burr puzzle-shaped rocks burning through the atmosphere to strike against the dragon… those that could hit the flying dragon anway.
Most simply passed the dragon by as they impacted across the countryside, much to Zhongli's displeasure.
"The dragon is maintaining its Maai." Ei observe in her usual monotone, not letting her violet eyes stray from the dragon's metallic form in the sky.
To which Venti- after having been chased around and singed from Ei's lightning bolt and still diverting fireballs away from them- couldn't help but snap at her frustratedly.
"Now's not the time to reference obscure terms from your Inazuma homeland, Ei!"
"It is simply a word in Kendo that means the engagement distance between two combatants where one combatant can easily engage the other through superior reach or speed, but the other may necessarily be able to respond in kind." Zhongli extrapolated, before clicking his tongue in annoyance, "It is an unfortunate yet appropriate description for our battle's current situation."
"The two of you could have spoken plainly and said that the dragon outranges us." Venti grumbled.
"It doesn't convey the same meaning, regardless, we must clip the dragon's wings."
Then the dragon did something unexpected, armoured plates on the side of the dragon's belly opened wide enough for a clawed hand to reach inside and pull out some sort of metal device that pulsed with light… and immediately hurled it like a ball towards the general direction of Aether and the others.
Ei immediately noticed and aimed her sword at the beeping probe.
"I'll interce-" She shouted, but was interrupted by the dragon's own Shout.
"YOL TOOR SHUL!"
"Watch out! I can't contain this much!" Venti warned them as the building thick blanket of magical firestorm began falling from the sky, and despite Venti's massive blasts of wind, the flames descended closer and closer...
Only for Zhongli to launch an entire hill of earth up into the air- a ball of soil and rock as large as a city block impacted against the blanket of flames just enough to disturb its structure enough for Venti to disperse it all around them- setting the trees around them ablaze.
"That device!" Venti grunted in alarm over the roar of the flames, but the device was already in the distance- still floating on in the sky and completely unaffected by gravity.
"The others will have to handle it!" Zhongli responded, grunting from exertion as the dragon continued to rain down fire at them, and he was answering with more balls of rock and earth. Only for the crackle of lightning from the Electro Archon beside them to die down.
Venti glanced over to her.
Pausing in her lightning-throwing, Ei- in a rare display of facial expression- furrowed her graceful brows and pursed her lips as her violet-amethyst eyes glimmered with displeasure.
"Perhaps its strength lies in its magic and it's tricks, rather than its strength of arm. We should attempt to engage in close range." She proposed in an even tone.
Both Zhongli and Venti winced slightly at the suggestion, the metal dragon- despite being magic oriented- was still a dragon and not a creature anyone would wisely engage in close combat.
"We do not know that." Zhongli warned her.
"Then I shall ascertain of that myself." Ei muttered distastefully from beside Venti just as more and more of her magical energy poured forth from her in waves before she launched yet another massive bolt of lightning… only to disappear with it as well.
Both he and Zhongli could see how the bolt of lightning struck the dragon and Ei appeared right beside the dragon- slashing her katana in a display of swordsmanship that no mortal could hope to match. And all the while, Venti couldn't help but worry, his worried muttering lost in the violent dint of battle.
"Let's hope that the device was not an ill omen for the others."
[Deep space- twenty jumps from Sakaar]
A large cargo freighter-turned-command craft glided through space. Its large 200m long hull was painted a stark teal blue that stood out starkly against the black void of space and the shining starscape.
The ship was named the Statesman. The flagship of the newly formed Sakaarian fleet.
From within the captain's lounge in the Statesman, Brunhilde couldn't help but give a smile of vicious relish as she monitored the cacophonous extranet site that posted for bounties.
The beacon that they had given to Hevnokren was now online- every merc, bounty hunter, space pirate and cutthroat in the galaxy was now homing in on its coordinates. Fuelled by unholy amounts of greed, these uncountable multitudes of lowlifes were now streaming across hyperspace to get to that specific region on Nova Empire's Planet G-69. To get to Hevnokren's enemy.
To get to Aether.
Now, Brunhilde wasn't certain how powerful this Aether character was, but even Hela wouldn't have been able to single-handedly take on Hevnokren and three fleets worth of bounty hunter ships firing down on her with enough plasma ordinance to make their own star.
Unfortunately, she wasn't joining in on to spectate that particular slaughter though, but that wasn't the reason why she was smiling.
Brunhild looked out the quadruple reinforced window to the fleet that flew with the Statesman. Just over two thousand spacecraft with zero uniformity, questionable space-worthiness and piloted by people with dubious skills at best. Most of their ships were no larger than mere shuttles with guns strapped to them.
This was no Dread Armada that Hevnokren wanted, but it was enough for this job.
"Brunhilde." Sylvie's giddy voice rang out from behind her. The blonde walked into the room looking just as excited as she was- what with her eager smile stretched across her pretty features as she sat down on the same couch that they had moved from her apartment in Sakaar.
"Someone's excited." Brunhilde couldn't help but remark with a bark of laughter.
"Of course, I am." Sylvie replied with a smile, "This has been a dream of mine- leading an army onto the surface of a distant world. Just like Valkyries have done in the days of yore."
Then she remembered who she was talking to, and turned to Brunhilde- meeting her earthy brown eyes with her blue-green ones and a question on Sylvie's pink lips.
"Did the Valkyrie do something like this back then?"
They hadn't really had time to talk about that: about how Sylvie was a former princess of Asgard and how Brunhilde was the former Hersir-Commander of the Valkyries, about how Odin was actually a bloodthirsty warmongering megalomaniac, and about how their stories were irrevocably tied to their shared homeland of Asgard.
Brunhilde's gauntleted hand raised from the controls to grasp around the silvery Necklace of Courage that Hev had forged and enchanted just for her. Hev told her that the Courage spell would activate at random intervals- to try and eventually rehabilitate her to go without it.
"Assaulting another world for plunder and slaves..." She replied- her voice muttering as if she was daydreaming, never taking her hand off the necklace. "Yes, I remember something like this, Sylvie."
"I still find it hard to believe that was something that Father had done." Sylvie mused in a daydreaming tone. And Brunhilde couldn't help but snap at her because of Odin.
"And what would he have done instead?" Brunhilde demanded- brown eyes narrowed with a long buried anger, "What little you remember of Asgard from your childhood- that shining city of golden metal alloy, that endless bounty of good harvests, those halcyon days of warm summers and carefree peace. All of it was only possible because of what Odin and us Valkyries did."
"Oh, I know of your role in Father's Conquest of the Nine Realms now." Sylvie retorted with irritation- her blue-green eyes locking with Brunhilde's brown once before the Asgardian Princess sighed after a moment. "It's just that… I think it's a waste. All this violence and threats of violence is wasteful and pointless when all I need is the authority to do so. Of course, things are different with the Sakaarians, but the Nine realms?"
Sylvie sat up straight and did her best to imitate her adoptive father as he sat on his golden throne- even miming holding a spear in hand, and with a harumph, her grandiose voice rang out across the lounge.
"High Queen Loki Laufeysdottir, sole ruler of Asgard, wielding Gungnir as I sit on the Throne of Asgard. The Nine Realms are to obey my every edict as if it is holy writ- which it is."
There was a moment of silence before Sylvie sighed as Brunhilde didn't laugh.
"You know that is not how ruling the Nine Realms works." Brunhilde cautioned her in a serious tone. And for Sylvie's part, she only helped herself to a glass of wine- the red liquid pouring into a gleaming wine glass.
"You're so uptight, Brunhilde. I miss when you were always drunk… but fine, enlighten me then." Sylvie nonchalantly told her- the blonde raising her glass of wine as she looked at Brunhilde expectantly.
For her part, the former valkyrie could only sigh.
"Your fancy title of High Queen and the laws that you mark with the sigil of that office would mean nothing to the rest of the Nine Realms without the power to punish those that would break them; for after all, laws meant nothing when everyone knew there was no consequence for them breaking said laws."
"And why wouldn't they give my words- my laws- the same respect as my father's? I am his daughter." Sylvie probed with a deep frown. And Brunhilde could vaguely understand why she was angry- feeling as if she was being denied her birthright.
Still, the valkyrie could only sigh before her earthy brown eyes locked with Sylvie's blue-green ones.
"It is precisely because you are not Odin Borson.." Brunhilde told her the simple and harsh truth.
A look of confusion came about the blonde's pretty features and her mouth opened to likely ask why that would matter, but Brunhilde's stern voice continued anyway.
"You are not the one who led the armies that tore down their fortresses and executed their leaders. You are not the one who once bathed the soil of their home realms with the blood of their soldiers. And you are not the one who they had surrendered their swords to after their worlds were razed to the ground."
To that, Sylvie had nothing to say, but Brunhilde still wasn't done.
"Instead, you would be known as 'High Queen' Loki Laufeysdottir, adopted daughter of that man with no great reputation to her name aside from trickery and a silver tongue. Your rule would crumble just like your male counterpart's did for just that reason. With Odin? The Nine Realms knew that the moment they broke his laws and stepped out of line: he would be there with his Valkyries, ready to butcher them and throw the bloody pieces back in line. You have no such respect from them."
"But Father ruled Asgard without having to resort to such methods! He ruled the Nine Realms without the Valkyr-" Sylvie angrily snapped, before realising what she was about to say. And a silence fell on the room.
"Yes, he ruled Asgard just fine without us." Brunhilde bitterly admitted. "Odin discarded his Valkyries- threw us away after we had no more use to him."
"How could he- Why would he do that?" Sylvie asked in a quiet whisper- her blue-green eyes looking down to the red wine that now lay untouched.
Brunhilde only gave her a sad, bitter smile.
"It was long after Hela's banishment... a region of Vanaheim had proclaimed themselves free of Odin's Laws, and I led the Valkyries to remind the rebels otherwise as was our duties. I still remember the look in Odin's eyes when we reported back to him on Asgard- his Valkyries victorious and our spears still coated with the blood of the rebels."
Brunhilde looked to the distance- out the window to the sea of stars in the blackness. She liked to think that she was looking in the direction of Asgard- to that golden city in the Nine Realms that she had grown up in with so many of her sisters-in-arms.
"My sisters and I presented the head of their leader to him as I had so many times in the past. But where once had his praise, he gave us silence instead; and all around us, there were the appalled murmurings of the Asgardians who were born in the peace that followed the wars that we won."
"'Violent brutes that have no function but to terrorize our own allies' they called us." Brunhilde's voice spat out as the wine glass in her hand shattered- spilling red all over the coffee table and the carpet. "Even as they wined and dined, carefree in the city that was built by the blood of my sisters and our mothers before us. Even as they lived in the peace and prosperity that was forged by the decisive millenia-long vigilance of the Valkyries and Einherjar. "
"And Father…" Sylvie muttered sadly, "He said nothing in your defence?"
"No, he did not…" the former Valkyrie bitterly forced out before her voice hardened, "But we stayed loyal to him, because we were Valkyries. Because our only wish was to continue our purpose as we had for the last thousands of years: to be his sword. But apparently, he had no use for swords in his new Asgard- no use for tools of physical violence. Not in the battlefield of alliances and politicking between the Nine Realms where empty words and emptier promises are the weapons of choice."
Grabbing a nearby rag, Brunhilde wiped her hands of the spilled wine and broken glass.
"Odin had lost the respect of the Nine Realms when he did that: when he allowed the other Realms to stand as equals to him in that alliance, when he allowed them to plot and plan against him unhindered and unpunished for the sake of peace, when he sent his Valkyries- the symbol of his military might- to their doom."
"Father didn't deserve you and your sisters." Sylvie whispered, taking Brunhilde's hand in hers.
"And I think it was the reason why Odin sent us to fight Hela in that suicidal charge." Brunhilde whispered back. "Because we were just like her in his eyes- a bloody relic of his even bloodier past. To be discarded after its usefulness has ended."
And those words a silence came about the room- just the low hum of the ship around them and their steady breathing. Then Sylvie stood up, walked over to where she was and sat down beside her- joining her as they both gazed out of the window to the sea of stars across the black canvas of space. All in the vague direction of Asgard.
"Brunhilde…" Sylvie muttered softly to her. "Do you ever think of seeing Asgard again?"
"Only everyday for the past thousand years." She replied honestly without a moment's hesitation- still looking to the stars.
"After this operation at O-12, let's go see our home again." Sylvie offered- turning to her and giving her a small smile.
"I'd like that." Brunhilde answered with a ghost of a smile on her lips.
"Brunhilde, we should t-" Sylvie stopped mid sentence as her comms device notified her of an incoming call- standing up, she answered her comms.
"Yes, and?" Sylvie's impatient voice sounded out from the comms as she held a conversation with someone- likely her first mate Topaz, "Why are you bothering me over this one merc?"
There was a pause- Sylvie's pretty face just turned to the side- as some inaudible muttering from the former right-hand woman of the former Grandmaster garbled through her comms.
"Hmmm, attach him to Valkyrie's squadron." Sylvie commanded Topaz through the comms. "Good work, if that's all, stay our course to our target planet of O-12. Sylvie out."
That made Brunhilde raise an eyebrow. She had been particular about who could join her squadron. And though Sakaar didn't have that many crack pilots, she made an effort to pick the few that were. At the moment, her squadron was a paltry 40 ships.
Sylvie turned to her, pocketting her comms device and the usual amused expression on her pretty face.
"Looks like you will have one extra ship to your command." Sylvie remarked, as she sat back down across Brunhilde. "Some Ravager runaway- he even arrived with his own M-class ship."
"Hmm… Ravager, huh?" Brunhilde mused about it for a moment before nodding, "I'll see if he'll make the cut myself."
"But more importantly…" Sylvie leaned into the comms as if she wanted to keep things that she was about to say next as private as she could. "He's on Hev's list. The 'Star-Lord Peter Quill.'"
Brunhilde nodded at that. Hevnokren had given them a seemingly random list of people- some were infamous across the galaxy while others were nobodies. Some were linked to each as if Hev had expected to find them grouped together while some were expected to be alone. And it was imperative that Hevnokren gets to meet them as he found a way to increase his power if he could do so.
"Is he with anyone else on the list? A Yondu or Rocket or either of the Thanos sisters?" Brunhilde prodded with great interest. Because according to the list- that was written on a scroll of paper of all things- this 'Star-Lord' should be with a team.
"No, he's alone." Sylvie replied before pulling up a holographic projection of Peter Quill over the coffee table. "What do you think?"
Brunhilde took one long look on the mugshot of Peter Quill… before scoffing in distaste. She had seen his type before in the Einherjar.
"He looks soft." She concluded, leaning back onto her couch, "I'd wager ten thousand Units that he is the type of Ravager to have qualms about Hevnokren's 'Rape, Kill, Pillage' plan. Better to keep him here and play your mind games with him, instead of out there where he can possibly endanger the raiding operations."
"A fool's wager." Sylvie agreed with a vicious smile, "But yes, I agree with your assessment, I'll give him the 'VIP' treatment until I can contact Hev ab-"
Slyvie's comms device rang again much to her irritation, at least, until she found that it was from Hevnokren.
See what Star-Lord knows, then keep him sedated until our rendezvous back on Sakaar.
"How is he contacting us from way over in G-69?! While fighting?!" Sylvie exclaimed incredulously at her comms. There should have been a lag, at least, from having to cross several hundred light years.
"Ugh, this man and his secrets." Brunhilde muttered as she downed her glass of red wine. It was honestly frustrating how often Hevnokren kept them in the dark of his plans. At first, Brunhilde thought that Hev was a massive meathead, but every so often, Hev would display a level of deviousness they wouldn't expect.
"Well, whatever his means are… we can ask him about it later. We're only two hours out from Planet O-12."
"Captain Marvel is heading towards Planet G-69." Sylvie commented with a deep frown as she relayed that particular piece of information to Hevnokren… just as he instructed them to.
"The woman with the power of an entire star?" Brunhilde clarified- concern colouring her voice. She'd heard of her. Everyone has heard of her. Because despite how much the head of Nova Corp, Irani Rael, would deny it; Captain Marvel was the biggest reason why the Kree Empire was having such a hard time in their war with the Nova Empire.
Captain Marvel had been waging a one-woman war on the galaxy-spanning Kree Empire against their hundreds of worlds and entire armadas of starships… and she was winning. And despite what Brunhilde thought of Hev as being undefeatable… Captain Marvel was definitely on a league of her own. Perhaps they should attempt to aid him somehow.
"You're worried for Hev, aren't you? Sylvie questioned with her soft voice. Her blue-green eyes searching Brunhilde's earthy brown ones. And when Brunhilde didn't answer, Sylvie only gave a hesitant smile.
"Me too. I hope he'll come back safe."
[A few minutes ago - Planet G-69]
I had to delay.
Soaring through the turbulent sky of Planet G-69, I took note that the planet was starting to break around us.
The rumbling earthquakes raged across the lands, a hurricane the size of a continent was beginning to form, and a thunderstorm of planetary proportions had blotted out the sky above. Our battlefield was now a chaotic hellscape of fire, lightning, gale winds and sudden upheavals. Whatever greenery had been burnt and blown away, whatever mammal was left alive here...was likely wishing they weren't.
And yet, I had to delay even more.
The planet must be in grave danger if Sylvie and Valkyrie are to have a shot at raiding that armoury world of O-12. It was on that sad lonely rock of wind and dust where the Nova Empire mothballed their old spaceships, obsolete military hardware and even some mass-production machinery like ammo assemblers. Sakaar needed that sort of hardware badly if I wanted my Dread Armada.
But consequently, O-12 was also one of the most heavily guarded worlds that the Nova Empire had to protect said equipment. There was little choice but to draw the bulk of the Nova Empire's forces here to G-69: It was the only way the two will have a shot at leaving O-12 with the goods. And to further facilitate that, the massive rush of mercs and bounty hunters paired with the sudden need to evacuate an entire planet should keep them preoccupied to respond to Sylvie's and Valkyrie's raid.
If I can get Captain Marvel to respond to this attack of mine, even better. A Tier-9 Capture was a great prize after all, and taking her out of the picture would only make my future plans of universal conquest easier.
Whatever it takes, Sakaar needs better equipment if the Dread Armada is to take off the ground. Otherwise, should the girls fail, it would mean a setback of months, if not an entire year.
And thus, until I had confirmation that both Captain Marvel and the fleet was heading in my direction and out of the way for Sylvie's and Valkyrie's objectives, I had to stall and sandbag in this fight with the other Contractor.
But at least I was having a mildly entertaining experience.
"YOL!"
The burst of flames erupted from my giant draconic mouth and onto the lightning goddess that was currently doing her best to slice through my joints with her magic katana.
And as expected, with yet another flash of her snug-fitting black lace panties under her extremely brief kimono, her electro magic allowed her to flip away in mid-air and dodged the fireball that was the size of a three-story apartment building- letting it fly into the distance to ruin someone else' day in the distance.
But while Ei was distracted, I launched a pair of Fireballs from my massive clawed hands to Zhongli and Venti who blocked it with a rock ball and deflected it with wind respectively.
Honestly, though. In the ten minutes that Ei and I were fighting, I've seen her black lace panties often enough that I could likely reproduce it down to the embroidery details from memory if given the material. The snug fitting lace underwear made a thorough exhibition as the graceful, long-legged lightning goddess performed her airborne battle with me.
Stretching over her round, but toned ass cheeks, or clinging so snuggly over that peach-shaped feminine mound of hers… the black lace looked always on the verge of bursting open as she twirled, flipped, and kicked at me. Coupled with my supremely enhanced sight, it was easy to memorize every curve and shape of her lower-half.
Not even her blank facial expression detracted from her immense beauty, her long silky deep blue hair braided in a graceful fishtail that whipped in the air, soft pink lips drawn into an expressionless line, pale skin just as creamy as milk and her violet amethyst-like eyes observing my every movement.
Combined with that toned hourglass figure of hers that was barely covered by that plush purple kimono of hers and all-in-all, Ei's beauty was worthy of being called Goddess indeed.
Gods.
The glowing blue eye-slits of my draconic form glanced imperceptibly at the two other gods on the ground.
Venti, Zhongli, Ei… three gods of Wind, Earth, and Lightning from the game of Genshin Impact. And this was only the first Contractor. I would be more worried though if they were actually a threat. Because despite the near total elemental control of my three enemies being complete BS...
...I countered them with my own complete BS.
I had three forms: my normal humanoid Dovahkiin form, my [Dragon Heart] form, and [Dragon Scale] form that I was in right now.
Back in my 3.5 meter tall [Dragon Heart] form, everything they've thrown at me so far would have been well-within the inch-thick Proto-Adamantium hide's capacity to absorb. But right now in my [Dragon Scale] form that was twice as large as Alduin? Penetrating the eight-inch thick Proto-Adamantium hide was well beyond their capabilities that it was laughable.
Enhancing everything from my strength to my magic to my shouts. I could stay in this gargantuan [Dragon Scale] form for the rest of my immortal life if I so wished. With that combined with how I had picked up the Power Stone from the ocean floor of Morag just yesterday, and all the [Defense] perks that I bought from the Company?
I was practically invincible to anyone below Omnipotence.
And even after all that, I still had back up tricks up my sleeve just in case a surprise comes along.
Not that I expect to rely on them in this fight.
Just a couple hours from now, Sylvie and Valkyrie will wrap up with their kill, loot and pillage over at the Nova Corp armoury world of Planet O-12 and bring back enough guns and ships to make subsequent raids a breeze. And that is when I can finally steal this electro archon who had been flashing her creamy D-cup cleavage and blac lace panties at me for the last half hour from Aether.
Sooner if I get confirmation that both Captain Marvel and the Nova Corp Fleet are heading here.
But if there was an upside to all this: I was finally, finally able to experience watching shounen characters discuss tactics and explain abilities mid-combat. I even did what was expected of a villain character and waited patiently in the background as they explained the Kendo concept of Maai and engagement ranges.
It's good to know that even my hearing was enhanced in this form.
And then I had confirmation. Captain Marvel and the Nova Corp Fleet were both heading here- leaving both Sylvie and Valkyrie free to take the Nova Corp armoury planet of O-12 and all the military-grade goodies that it held.
And for the first time in my 'fight' with the three Archons of Genshin Impact, I got serious.
From what I was able to probe in my attacks, Aether had purchased [Mind Defense] from the Company- which does as it says on the name: Defends against mind manipulation attempts. But the most egregious of mistakes that Aether made was not purchasing [Temporal Defense] against me. Against me: a late-game Dragonborn with the [Slow Time] Shout.
Now, I like to think that my enemy Contractor wasn't a woefully unprepared idiot.
Instead, I like to think that the reason why he didn't purchase [Temporal Defense] was that he was deliberately baiting me into using that strategy for some crazy battle plan of his. Because if he was a woefully unprepared idiot, I could do a single [Slow Time] Shout, slow time to a crawl, sexually satisfy this sexy, scantily-clad Lightning Goddess in front of me who keeps flashing her panties at me, and still have time left to find and super-murder Aether.
I'll just go with an oblique plan and see if Miss Goddess-of-Lightning-and-Black-Lace-Panties will fall for it.
"FUS!"
With a single word, I send Ei hurtling away spinning and out of control; but that won't stop her, and it wasn't intended in stopping her. It was intended to give me space to set things up.
With my almost sedan-sized claw, I reached down to my side where I had pulled out that beacon and tugged open the armour. [Dragon Cabin] was what the skill was called: It allowed for a door that led to a pocket dimension that was held inside my own dragon body. In this massive dragon form, I could act as a ship for people- protecting them with the same [Defenses] that I bought from the Company.
But there was another function that I bought for it, something that I hoped to try on Ei.
And just as expected, a massive bolt of lightning struck my shoulder- the shoulder of the arm that was reaching into my pocket dimension. And like all the other times before, Ei appeared in all her beautiful emotionless glory at the point where the lightning had struck- swinging her electro-charged katana at the closest joint that she could find.
It hadn't worked the first hundred times that she had tried that, but Ei was nothing but tenacious.
Immediately, I swung at her with my enormous claws- missing her completely of course, but left my 'door' open.
"FUS!"
I Shouted at her again and pushed her across the sky- feigning not noticing that the door was open as I simply 'fought' on. She regained her bearings quickly though, and her violet amethyst eyes were even quicker in spotting my 'careless mistake'- the violet orbs widening a fraction as she eyed the open door to my interior.
From across the patch of sky between us, I watched as her slender hand raised her katana to once again shoot another bolt of lightning, and just as expected- she aimed for the open door.
My gargantuan metallic dragon body stiffened as I 'suddenly realised my error'- a great metal claw moving to block the inevitable bolt of lightning, but I was 'too late.' A grand bolt of lightning illuminated the space between us- the bright violet light flashed bright in everyone's eyes as Ei put all her power into the strike. The thunderclap boomed monumentally loudly- likely reaching all the way to the Aether's ears wherever the little pretty boy was at the moment.
And when the flash of light had receded and the rolling thunder died had down, Ei was gone. Where once there was a metal dragon and lightning goddess battling it out in the darkening sky, there was now only my metal form afloat in the air.
Her allies, both Venti and Zhongli, looked up at me from their place down below on the ground- wondering if whatever Ei had done worked.
In response, I simply grinned down at them, and closed the door behind her.
[Within the Dragon Cabin]
"Good afternoon, Raiden Shogun." My deep voice cordially greeted the electro archon who sat across the Japanese style dining table between us.
Tatami mats, sliding paper doors, heated flooring… The interior of the [Dragon Cabin] was fully customizable and larger in the inside- spanning an entire suburban home; and for this occasion, I had set it to be Japanese-themed for my guest who sat on a very comfortable cushion across the table.
She sat perfectly still in that same purple kimono and thigh high socks, but with a few additions of mine. Namely, the enchanted Uru rings that were slipped around her two middle fingers.
"I am Hevnokren." I introduced myself as I sat in the traditional seiza position- still armoured as I was in my sturdy dragonplate. "And welcome to the interior of my dragon mecha."
That was a lie, of course.
The massive dragon that she had been fighting was my real body. The one that sat across from her was a manifested avatar and an ability that came bundled with the [Dragon Cabin]. A projection that could only exist within it, but for my purposes, it more than suffices.
"Enough of the pleasantries." her lovely voice demanded in her usual monotone just as the glowing amethyst eyes of her narrowed in suspicion as they stared at me, "How have you robbed my body of its ability to move? And what is it that you wish to accomplish here?"
"Straight to business and utterly fearless. I can appreciate that sort of attitude." My deep, rumbling voice commented in an approving tone as my dragonplate helmet nodded."So, I'll answer you questions in kind."
"I possess an ability called [Adjustment Field]." my calm voice began as I picked up the porcelain teapot that sat on the center of the table and deftly poured some Japanese green tea into a pair of teacups- speaking all the while.
"It enables me to freely shape the bodies and minds of anyone who enters this particular interior; using said ability, I outright removed most of your motor nerves from the neck down- your mind can no longer move the majority of the muscles of your body, but sensations can still be felt clearly."
I carefully served the filled, steaming teacup to her- letting her at least enjoy the fragrance of the green tea as she was not able to pick it up herself.
"For your second question..." I continued, my deep voice maintaining that conversational tone, "...as I was adjusting your body, I couldn't help but notice that you're still in possession of your maidenhead."
At the mention of how she was still a virgin, the slightest of pink blushes dusted her smooth and fair cheeks.
Aether must have had a thing for the pretty boy bishounens of the Genshin Impact cast. It was that or he was one of those Contractors who believed in the chaste treatment of their Captures. Hopefully, it was the latter- those were my favourite kind of people to interact with: Victims.
"What of it?" she calmly demanded before sharply pointing out, "And that was not an answer to the second question."
"The answer…" I began, leaning over the table slightly and letting her see the ruby-red eyes of mine shining through the slits of helmet, "...is that I was fully intent on trying to amuse myself by conversing with you before I claim your virginity and sexually satisfy you until that mask of expressionlessness is irreparably shattered from the sheer ecstasy and pleasure that I give you."
Ei stiffened at that- a very fleeting look of terror came about her features before it was subsumed under the expressionless mask that she wore. Or more accurately to say… The REAL Raiden Ei momentarily took control of that puppet body before the autopilot intelligence named 'the Raiden Shogun' regained control.
Because there were currently two souls technically inhabiting that body: One was the emotionless 'Raiden Shogun' who was created for the sole purpose of bringing about a poorly thought out ideal of 'Eternity.' And the other was the real Electro Archon, the Deity of Lightning- 'Raiden Ei' was the soul of a scarred woman hidden away inside a sort of pocket dimension within that body.
For the most part, the former was in control, and that was fine with me.
"If you wish to delay the inevitable, then by all means, let us partake in some idle chatter over tea. Perhaps your fellow Archons will free you before I tear through your hymen." I offered to her with an even tone of voice, "But if you wish to be all business and hurry to the part of our interactions where I drive you mad with pleasure, then simply say so."
I gave her a malicious grin as possibly for the first time in her artificial life, the Raiden Shogun was torn between her purpose in bringing about 'Eternity' and her personal desire (of avoiding getting violated).
"So what will it be, Raiden Shogun?"
"I…" Her mouth opened and closed before chewing on her pink lip in indecision as her violet eyes' gaze clawed all around the room, darting from one wall to another, looking for a way to escape. "I-I..."
"I choose-"
She gulped nervously before opening her mouth to speak.
"-This tea is very fragrant, where did you acquire it?"
I smiled approvingly at her… just sweeping before the table between us aside and sending it crashing against the far wall. Sharp shattering sounds of the porcelain tea set breaking on the tatami rang out as I stood up to my full height, and my dragonplate-clad form imposed a dark shadow over her fearful expression.
"By the rules of the Company-sponsored PVP Gauntlet, your allies… Your Aether has twenty-four hours to free you from this place before you become permanently mine."
My dragonplate gauntlet-covered hand grasped her by her slender throat- picking her up and letting her unresponsive body dangle in the air as I held her face to face with me. I leaned in.
"But make no mistake…" My deep voice rumbled as she gritted her teeth and tried not to choke. "Your mind and your soul may be his- for the moment- but your body is mine."
And with an almost casual gesture, I tossed her over my shoulder and let her land with a 'pomf' on the bed that I had willed into existence just a moment ago.
"Y-you brute!" she exclaimed with indignation, still unable to move her body from the very enticing position on the bed that she fell in.
Resting on her side on the white sheets, a soft creamy breast had spilled out from her purple kimono like a scoop of the world's most delicious vanilla ice cream- a delicate strawberry pink nipple decorated the tip of that hefty D-cup. The knee of one long toned leg was lifted up to almost her chest- lusciously thick thighs borne of a lifetime of swordsmanship, slender calves and dainty feet all wrapped in tight black thigh-high socks.
"I am the Raiden Shogun! You can not do this!" She continued to feverishly protest as I approached her helpless form. Her beautiful face was flushed red with exertion as she continued to try and will her body to move. Whatever regeneration that she had was held back by the continuing influence of the [Adjustment Field].
"And I am Hevnokren, Dragon of Proto-Adamantium, and I will do what I want." I answered her simply as my large hand yanked her purple kimono down past her generous breasts, "Besides, you'll start to love it long before the twenty-four hour period runs its course."
Taking off my dragonplate gauntlets, I grasped both of the soft yet firm orbs of her bountiful chest- the pink nipples brushing across fingertips and dragging across my palms. A hesitant expression came about her features- her lips were drawn into a tight line and amethyst eyes narrowed and resisted against the slight pleasure.
"I wonder if you've ever even pleasured yourself." I mused as I undid the obi sash of her purple kimono and tossed it into my pocket dimension inventory along with her Gnosis- the magical tool she used to draw power and energies from the realm of the Gods.
"That is none of your concern!" She snapped at me even as I pulled the purple kimono off of her- leaving her in just her black lacy panties, her deep purple arm sleeves and her equally deep violet thigh high socks.
A perfect hour-glass figure with graceful curves that traced her figure from her neck down to full breasts to her flat tummy to her wide hips and all the way down her long, long legs. Then my eyes narrowed at the sight of those black lacy panties that she had been teasing me with our entire fight.
Not for any longer now.
In a single deft movement, my large hands slid down the offending lacy article of clothing down her long legs- ignoring the uncharacteristic squeak of mortification that came from the lightning goddess. Holding my hated enemy aloft in the air, I banished it to the pits of my pocket dimension inventory before turning back to her.
"I will have my vengeance on you one day, Hevnokren." She promised in her monotone that was now edged with anger, her violet eyes glimmering with impotent rage against me despite her luscious body being laid bare in front of me.
In response, I merely gave her a vicious grin as I took off my helmet. Red eyes, stern aristocratic cheekbones, square jaw, sandy-brown hair, and unimpressed expression all levelled at her, face to face.
"And you will have your chance one day." I told her as I continued to take off my dragonplate- likely for the first time since I arrived at the MCU. With a body built like a tank with a musculature that looked like it was chiselled from granite before painted with a light flesh colour.
I slipped out of my dragonplate greaves and saw her rage falter just slightly- her expression wincing as she saw my large pillar of man-meat standing straight up in the air and almost as thick as her wrist.
"But today won't be that day."
With an absentminded gesture, I plucked a bottle of lube from my inventory- letting it fall into my open palm as I had learned my lesson from both Valkyrie and Ravonna to accordingly pack the lube this time for dubiously consenting women.
The Raiden Shogun turned her expressionless face away with a blush still on her beautiful face- determined as she was to cling on whatever scrap of dignity she could hold on to. But every so often, signs of Ei taking control of the body would make itself known: like how her violet amethyst eyes sneakily took glances at the thick, syrupy dollops of the clear liquid as I poured the bottle's contents over my solid, thick shaft.
My seven foot tall form looked massive compared to her five and a half foot one as I pushed her onto her back, her D-cup breasts swaying and lolling about perkily jiggling in a delicious sight that I enjoyed watching before moving on.
Grasping her knees in either hand, I pushed her toned legs far apart, and there between sinfully smooth inner thighs was the delicate, untouched pink flower of her virgin femininity. Soft pink petals folded tightly closed between her fleshy lips.
"This is not necessary, Hevnokren." She tried to reason with me even as her legs were spread wide and I placed the fat cockhead between the pink lips of her flower. And despite her blank facial expression, her ankles were trembling slightly in nervousness.
"Necessary for what?" I nonchalantly replied as the head of that thick rod of meat prodded against her incredibly tight entrance- making her wince as the sheer size difference between the two were made vividly clear.
"Violating me: It would achieve n-nothing." her voice tried to sound steady, but got a little hesitant at the end. Because we both knew that if I were to sink this large, throbbing cock into her now, every little fold and curve of her precious little virgin hole was going to be filled by it to the absolute limit.
Of course, I had [Adjustment Field] to ensure that her body doesn't break no matter what I put her through. That her physical limits would just be enough to make it fit, but more than enough to be incredibly, unbearably pleasurable. But her mind? I fully aimed to drown her in so much pleasure that she can no longer bring up that expressionless mask of hers any more.
"But doesn't that work to your advantage?" I proposed to her, finding amusement in making this autopilot AI go against its programming to bring about 'Eternity' and whatever that meant, "If I'm here then your allies outside will only have to deal with my dragon mecha. All you have to do is distract me with this hot, wet vagina of yours for as long as you're able."
"W-what is with that dodgy logic!?" Ei blurted out in panicked confusion, and her expression briefly morphed into pure panic as her real soul momentarily took control of her body before retreating back into the safety of her pocket dimension. Her beautiful face settled back into her expressionless mask as the Raiden Shogun AI took over.
I smiled deviously as I realised that I could use this to my advantage.
"Think about it." I put forth to her in an even tone as I reached down with a thumb to massage lube onto her pink little pearl atop her sensitive candy-pink slit, "By putting most of your effort in keeping me in here, you increase your allies' chance of emerging triumphant out there. It only increases your chances of victory in exchange for physical damage (To your hymen) that was already going to occur."
She seemed to think it over deeply as I continued to tease her sensitive clitoris- that blush of hers growing more and more red by the second.
"You are correct." the Shogun AI concluded in her flat tone that was becoming breathy with pleasure.
"Yes, your goal now would then be as distracting to me as possible in your current physical state." I informed her- nodding approvingly as that little pink nub of hers became stiff and throbbing from arousal. I had little doubt that if she still had her muscle control, she'd be shivering in pleasure right now.
"Seeing as you have zero sexual experience, would you like suggestions on how to achieve that?" I 'kindly' offered to her.
After all, Ei- the real one that was still hiding- didn't have much control on how the AI thought and she had a bad reputation for gullibility. That, and I was using [Adjustment Field] to increase her sensitivity to four times its normal level, and it will only go higher as time went on.
"Y-yes, suggestions would be appreciable." She agreed with a breathy gasp of pleasure as I began dragging the fat cockhead up and down her tight and sensitive pink slit- bumping against her swollen clitoris every so often.
"One of the most arousingly distracting things that a woman could do during sex is dirty talk." I lectured her as I reached down to play with her swaying orbs of creamy firm breasts- flicking her pink nipples. "One of the most straightforward things to say is simply describe the pleasurable sensations that certain body parts on your body are experiencing in response to my actions."
"I see… my nipples send sparks of delight up my spine when your fingers brush against them." The Shogun Ai reported in her monotone voice.
"An excellent first try!" I sincerely cheered her on with a thumbs up before relocating a few fingers back down to play with her lube-soaked pink button- drawing a shaky exhale from the expressionless woman as I goaded her on. "Now again."
"My c-clitoris makes the insides of my v-" She began before her dull purple eyes gained the spark of soul and her monotone voice once again rose in a wanton moan, "Aaaahhnn! Stooop~ My c-clit is feeling too good!"
"That's an incredible improvement on your second try!" I acknowledged with a vicious grin- still pretending that I didn't know that Ei was taking control as I moved my fingers faster over her most sensitive part and listened as her moans rose and rose.
Then leaning my body close to hers until I can feel the tips of her nipples brushing against my chest, I leaned my mouth close to her ear and whispered.
"I'm going to sink all this hot thick cock in you, and claim your virginity now."
Those words seemed to jolt Ei out of her imminent orgasm. Her expressive and panicked violet amethyst eyes locked into my own blood-red ones as she felt the tip of my thick cock applying more and more pressure on her defenseless little virgin entrance.
"Wha?!" she exclaimed in her frazzled state of mind- overwhelmed by pleasure of having her throbbing lube-soaked little pleasure button being stroked and teased by a pair of fingers. But eventually my words sank into her mind and she groaned in comprehension.
"Pl-please don't!" she half-heartedly pleaded with a moan even as the tip of my cock gradually pushing open her tight pink entrance, "If- IF you stick it in me right now, I don't know if I can- AAaaahhhhnnnn!"
Her beautiful voice reached a crescendo the moment my thick cock sank all the way in- right down to the hilt.
"I see even the Electro Archon herself is still a woman." my deep voice purred into her ears as I drank in the feeling of this literal virgin goddess' tight inner walls squeezed and trembled and came around the first and last cock she'll ever have: mine.
Then her eyes lost their luster again and I knew that Ei had once again ceded control to the Raiden Shogun AI, right on time as well: Because I grabbed her narrow waist with both my large hands and began pistoning that wrist-thick mass of pure man meat in and out of her freshly deflowered pink pussy.
"T-The walls of my vaginal canal explode in p-pleasure with every movement you are making with your penis." She shakily commented with a flat stare of her violet eyes, and I couldn't help but admire her for her self-control. Even if she was an AI, she was still experiencing all the mind-melting pleasure of being eight times more sensitive.
I naturally began moving faster and harder.
Her mouth hung open as she began panting heavy breaths and those dull violet eyes twitched as the AI tried to maintain her composure in the face of her pussy lips kissing the base of my cock faster and noisier. And I knew that the AI was on the verge of climax as well, because the one of the only muscles that she could control at the moment were the ones helping her squeeze tight with her pussy.
And they were going wild: trembling and squeezing and milking my shaft for all its worth.
"I-I'm going to reach an orgasm." She stuttered out- trying her hardest to keep her composure, but couldn't resist but pant heavily from the pleasure.
"Do you like that, O' Raiden Shogun, Ruler of Inazuma?" I asked as her unresponsive body could do nothing but squeeze down tight on the hefty wrist-thick cock filling up every crevice and hidden spot in her virgin inner walls. Her delectable perky breasts of creamy smooth skin topped with candy-pink nipples bounced up and down with every thrust in a tempting display.
"Y-yes, I find it ple- Ah~ pleasurable." The AI responded- her brief moans of pleasure that slipped through the cracks that were forming on the composure that was programmed into her. in addition to the fast and deep thrusting- my large hand groped and fondled one of those bouncing D-cups that filled up my hands nicely.
Around this time, [Adjustment Field] should have morphed her entire body to be sixteen times more sensitive now- orgasming at every touch. Ergo, a thirsty slut that was already on the edge of cumming. Time to see just how much of one this Lightning Deity was.
"What do you find pleasurable?" I demanded driving my thrusts deeper into her soaked core- the squelch of fluid sounding out everytime the tip of my cock reached the bottom of her tight fleshy well. And as expected, she came wildly around my shaft- her silky wet inner walls clinging desperately to my pistoning cock.
"Y-your penis stirring up my insides and your h-haaand on my breast!" The Raiden Shogun AI announced with a bit more overt displays of pleasure as she continued to noticeably lose her composure. The increased sensitivity and non-stop orgasms were finally getting to her.
And in truth? So was I.
After all, who could resist after pushing their cock into this tight, wet heaven that was a literal goddess' virgin womanhood, hearing her moan and huff and groan with her beautiful voice as she was driven to the heights of ecstasy, and feeling her silky-wet inner walls clamp down desperately milking for one's semen and deposit it into a literal deity's untouched and sacred womb?
And after all that, what was left to say? I, for one, knew exactly what I was going to say.
"I'm going to stain the inside of your womb white with my potent cum." I growled at her with a vicious grin of relish- enjoying the feeling of this Goddess' nectar splattering across my abs and thighs as I bottomed out in her over and over again.
"D-Don't!" She pleaded even as she came to yet another amazing orgasm, and I no longer knew if this was the Shogun-AI or Ei herself who was in control. "Not insiiiiiide~!"
But despite her words, her body was conveying another message. Just from the way she threw her head back- pressing the silky, midnight-blue hair of hers against sheets told me that if she had full muscle control, she would be meeting my thrusts halfway right now.
"Hevnokren! I-Inside!" She half-begged and half-protested in a sexy moan. And even I didn't know if she was pleading for me to cum inside her or not to cum inside her. There were a couple of ways to find out. So, I leaned in again- covering her flawless body with my much larger and more muscular one.
"Inside?" I hurriedly whispered into her ear as I gave her a thrust that reached particularly deep into her hot core before grinding our hips together- stirring the thick pillar of throbbing meat inside her. "Right here?"
"Yeesssss~!" She let out a needy whine- completely lost in pleasure as she was. Her incredibly sexy voice all but begging for more was getting me close as well. But she still needed to be teased.
" 'Yes'? You'll need to be more specific with what you want." My deep voice rumbled into her ear- teasing her with what we both wanted even as I began furiously pistoning in and out of her- splattering her feminine juices of arousal onto the sheets.
"I- I WANT YOUR SEED DEEP INSIDE ME!" She moaned out in that husky, desperate voice just before our combined climaxes washed over us.
"Then here it comes!" I announced as with one last furious pound of my hips, the long wrist-thick shaft of man-meat forced itself past the vice-like tightness of the lightning deity's utterly divine inner walls and resting the thick crown of the cock right against the entrance of her most sacred place at the very back.
The first rope of cum surged out to thud against the back wall of her womb- the thick white rope of virile semen barely had time to settle before another rope impacted right on top of it, then another and another. A molten pool of white building up in the deepest part of her. And all the while...
"Yes, yes, yes. Deeper!" Her beautiful voice wailed, high and melodious as she wrapped her arms and legs around my body. She didn't even care that she regained control of her limbs; instead, she focused on thrusting her hips against mine in a desperate effort to ensure that every last drop of my virile seed ended up right where it belonged: coating the walls of her fertile divine womb.
Her beautiful face rested back on the soft bed- the fishtail braid of midnight-blue hair having come undone at some point of her thrashing orgasm. And now, shesimply clung tightly to my body as she gasped for breath- slowly coming down from the great highs of her fantastic orgasm.
And that's when she noticed it: the hot cock inside her had not softened by even a fraction.
"A-again?" Her weak voice muttered incredulously, excitedly. Her violet eyes widened in surprise just as I forced a ragged moan of another orgasm to tear through her throat - the hard cock within her began moving once more.
"Again." I confirmed with a growl before my deep voice adopted a knowing tone to it, "But after I make Raiden Shogun into a quivering pile of squeals and orgasms, you're going up next, Ei."
The goddess of lightning and eternity bouncing up and down the long, glistening shaft of my cock gave no indication that she knew what I was talking about- simply continuing to meet my furious thrusts with the frantic slamming of her shapely hips with naught a coherent word in response. But we both knew that the goddess hiding inside the Shogun-AI was now just in her little pocket dimension- cowering in terror at the fact that I was fully aware of her existence.
That it was only a matter of time before I claimed each and every single one of her virgin holes directly.
Because now, she knew that there was nowhere to hide. And all that she could do now was to do her best to half-heartedly 'hold out' in our sexual battle long enough for her little family to save her before the 24 hour mark. Because if they didn't, she was going to be mine for all eternity.
And I had no doubt that Ei and the Raiden Shogun were going to have a touching reunion with her little family. But unfortunately for them, it won't be the type of reunion that she expected…
I gave a vicious grin as I went harder and faster than before- churning up the combined juices and ensuring that every silky, delicate fold in her inner walls had a thorough taste of what was going to be a long, long day ahead of her.
…because while we were busy fucking in here, the fight outside between Aether and my Dragon form was already coming to a Violent. Merciless. End.

What-If Smut Omake 1: The TVA Critical Mission Failure scheduled for posting on Friday
…
AN:
The What-If Smut Omake are the plotlines that I considered but discarded- mainly because they would have ended the fic much too early. In other words, the 'Cheese-strats' that would have leveraged meta-knowledge to the utmost extreme in order to achieve a total (yet unsatisfyingly easy) victory. I didn't want to waste the scenes that I discarded, so I converted them into some smut instead.
Talk, Talk, Talk. I feel the Sylvie/Valkyrie scene was the weakest, despite being the most character development focused scene that I've written so far. 'Too info-dumpy' was how I felt it to be, but the alternative of drawing it out across a few more chapters was just not on the table.
More Genshin Impact Lewds to come in the next chapter (Not the Omake), then I'll hold off on the rest of the cast. For now.
A last minute change to the plot and the addition of an extra Inner Circle waifu (and I'm certain that she'll prove to be an interesting pick at that). As a result, Chapters need to be rewritten as her appearance will play a large part in the Earth - Hell's Kitchen Arc with the Defenders as well as the main movie line. If you must know who she is, then combine the 2nd letter of each name in this list; otherwise, just gloss your eyes over the spoiler. (Amarah Jeanne Erika Eclair Lylianna)
