Chapter 429: 7
Guest Rights and the first steps Forward.
Another day on the world of Westeros as the sun shined it's glorious rays upon the seven kingdoms.
In the bountiful lands of the reach and it's borders on the crown lands where sitting over the edge of the kingswood overlooking blackwater bay was Castle Peverall and it's occupents where rising up to start they're day.
They washed and dressed for the day ahead as all met in the grand dining hall for morning breakfast.
Harry for the first time wasn't the first to be at the table, rather both of his current guest's the Targaryan Princesses were there in order to speak to their host before the other but arrived at the same time much to their common ire towards eachother.
They awaited in silence, glaring and starring at eachother with ill-intent.
Rhearnya was redressed in her freshly cleaned red Targaryen Dress, her platinum blonde hair flowed free from any restraint as it dropped down from her head. Her lack of wearing the clothes provided to her and instead wearing her own was a proud statement that's screamed out her royal status and the family she belonged to.
Helanna however chose one of the dress she found avalible in her room.
The young princess wore a dark blue silk clothed dressed that hugged around her body like wrapped sashes that tide around her mid-riff just under her breasts as she wore the dress that hung from her shoulders in a twisted fashion that sat along her shoulders.
It did not take long for that silence to break as Harry walked right in "Good Morning princesses." He said moving to the head of the table.
"Good morning my Lord/ Good Morning Lord Peverall." Both princesses said as they stood up from their seats and bowed curtiously to him as he passed them by and took his seat the head of the table beside both of them.
"I trust you all had a wonderful night here in my castle?" He naturally had to ask to know the comforts of his guests.
"Oh most definitely." Said Princess Helanna, speaking first before her sister who threw her a piercing stare "The beds and sheets are unlike anything we ever had. Your generous hospitably is a honour we have received greatly." while it was true that the Helana and Rheanyra had slept in sheets more comfortable then the one's royally spent to have in their own palace, it was still seen as sickening flattery from both people who were used to such honeyed words being thrown at them.
Harry maintained a gentlemanly smile as he smiled at the high praise he was receiving from his world's royalty "I am honoured to have such high praise." Harry thanked her as he dipped his head to her before sitting down with them following in his act "Now how about some breakfast?" he asked as they were about to begin the day before them.
-Meanwhile in kingslanding-
In the capital of the seven kingdoms within the red keep King Viserys Targaryen sat upon his throne looking both annoyed and shocked by the recent revelation he was being told by both his Hand Lord Otto Hightower and his brother Daemon Targaryen.
"what do you mean my daughters are there!?" King Viserys asked as he had only just received the news that both of his daughters had gone to Lord Peveralls castle without notifying him or without a royal escort.
"It is as I said my King." Ser Otto Hightower once more explained the absence of his daughter to his king "both your daughters Rheanyra and Healna are staying at Lord Peverall's castle. For how long I do not know." The hand of the king had received a raven from his granddaughter of her arrival and time there along with the presence of the other daughter Rheaynra.
Naturally her presence there was for the same reason Healna was, and he did not need to read about her attempt at seduction to know that she was aiming for the same purpose as them, to get Lord Peverall on their side. The man was a new power that greatly shook the established foundations of power that was the Targaryen's who ruled for one hundread and twenty years since ageon the conqueror united the warring kingdoms of westeros under one crown.
Lord Hadrian Peverall was a man that both the blacks and the green's needed on their side if they wanted to gain a huge advantage over the other.
Next it was his brother Daemon Targaryen who added "You're grace. Look at it this way, this gives us the opportunity to wed lord Peverall to one of your daughters." If one daughter didn't claim his heart then there was a chance the other might.
A thought that both men shared as they stared at eachother from the corner of their eye's, sending silent daggers and promise of death at the another.
Something that the man sitting before them was oblivious to as he was more concerned about his children and the Union between his house and House Peverall.
"But why didn't they tell me that they were going? I could've sent an envoy to escort them or at the very least went with them to try and further persuade Lord Hadrian to see the great possibility of this union." He cried out, complaining like a child that wasn't invited as he slumped against his chair.
Daemon stepped forward, calming his brother as he spoke wisdom into him "My king. I think that may be the problem. You're attempts may have the opposite affect you're seeking." He said, getting his attention.
"What do you mean?" King Viserys asked, confused and intrigued by what his war veteran brother had to share.
"Lord Peverall is a widower your grace, like you. so you understand the loss of losing the one you love and the anger of being pressured to remarry." Daemon appealed his brother's knowledge and experience of loss. His first wife and love Aemma Arryn who gave him a beautiful and strong Daughter who could in this realms history be the first rulling queen of the seven kingdoms, it was a truly sad day when she died along with his son, Viserys was deep in mourning.
She was the one light in his life that tried to bridge the gap between him and Viserys.
Viserys sighed, seeing the logic and wisdom in what he said along with long forgotten feelings of remorse and woe as memories of his first queen and wife came to mind "I… see what you mean brother… but why didn't they let me know that they were going?"
Viserys asked out but again was oblivious to the power moves happening within his own family, dispite his command's that his eldest daughter was to rule, that didn't stop his wife and her family from moving against him and against his daughter.
"your Grace. You're daughters are grown woman, beautiful and blooming. I believe they can decide the way they live, Especially Rhearyna who doesn't allow life to decide for her but takes charge of life."
Rhearyna was the perfonification of a true Targaryen. A fire and temper to match a dragon with the will to conquer the world, many have called her the Meagor with Tits from how she commands and imposes her will like a king.
"Yeah…" Viserys sighed as even though he loved his daughter as much as all of his children… she can be a handful sometimes. Stubborn, relentless, commanding and unbending to other's. Had she been born a boy, she'd have been the perfect Targaryen Prince but since she's a girl, she now matches the description of Aegon's first wife and eldest sister Visenya who was fearsome warrior like her son Meagor the Cruel.
She turned down a hundred suiters because they did not meet her requirements.
In one way, her chasing after a man for once was relieving as he sometimes feared that she was completely into women from the amount of refusals she gave to nearly every lord and heir in the entire realm.
"They obviously went there to sway the Heart of Lord Peverall by themselves. A woman's touch is more suited to this task then that of a kings." He could understand Helana, his youngest daughter and princess was always soft hearted and innocent, chaitable and kind to a fault. She was the other light in his eye's and he couldn't help but spoil her the same as he did with all of his children, this has led to her… less then attractive figure but she was still beautiful all the same and not overly pumplish thank the gods.
He had planned on continuing their valyrian customs of marrying her to his first born son Aegon to continue the family line and preserve their blood but she had instead like her sister rode out to sway this new lord's heart.
Rheanyra on the other hand he easily suspected that this sudden and surprising act of chasing after the man was not because of a smitten heart but rather more of a polictical and power advantage. Though she was groomed to take his place were he to die, the rest was simply all her from the day she could walk, she showed great talent and mind for warfare like his great ancestor's wife Visenya who was a stern, serious and unforgiving woman with a voluptuous, sensual and passionate figure.
All in all it increased the chances of uniting their two houses together which ease the aging king's heart and mind that not only will one of his daughters, preferably Rheanyra will be married but also securing a powerful alliance and destroying threat to their rule with marriage.
Viserys once again sighed, seeing the logic in his brother's words "You're right. It's best if they do it, with any luck one of them will win his heart and unite our house's by blood." It was important to him that House Targaryen become stronger through this union between their houses, for not only the ability to speak to their dragon will afford them more control and kin ship towards their beast's but also what other great creature's Lord Peveral may have yet to reveal.
Ser Otto bowed his head to his king's wise decision "Very good your Grace. On top of that, they've sent their letters detailing their time there. Including the living portrait of the Late lady Peverall who explained to your daughter of his Lord's veternry in war." The letters that both sides received from their princess contained detailed reports about the living portrait that expressed how dangerous Lord Peverall is, not that they didn't need to be told as they saw a glismp of his power and knew for certain that there was far more he had yet to reveal.
For now, both sides will simply wait, watch and see how their princesses are fairing in the bid to win the new lord's heart and loyalty to their cause.
-Castle Peverall-
Back at Castle Peverall Harry didn't know if coming here was the worst mistake he had ever done in his life.
Before coming here, he was torn between fixing the world by going back in time to ensure that none it ever happens by stopping the birth of the megalomaniac and the rise of a conniving con artist but felt that would be too tiring to go through as he'd have to put up with the back stabbing politics of the 1920's wizarding world.
Or start a whole new life elsewhere. Far away from his world where he was well known, a place where he could start fresh without the fears and worries of someone trying to kill him at every corner because of who he was and what he meant.
But now… he was reconsidering his choices because currently he was being shadowed by two princesses who basically followed him everywhere, where ever he went.
He held down a sigh as he sat down on a couch, flanked by both sides between Rhaynera and Healna, both women pushing themselves close against him as to sandwich him while glaring at each other.
Harry was beginning to feel his patience tested as he hosted for this kingdoms princesses "Ahem!" he coughed out in his hand, causing the two the realise their position and finally scoot away to give him some breathing space.
"I… understand that your presence here is not for a simple welcoming to your land or smitten hearts. But could we please act civil as long as you stay here. I'd rather not be the object in which you both fight for." Harry pleaded for both his sanity and temperance that were stretched thin from this battle being waged between the two with him caught right in the middle.
However his desire's were met with refusal as Rheanyra held her head up high and spoke with a tone that reminded him of one Narcissa Malfoy when she addressed someone of lower standing "I'm afraid that I won't be leaving until I get some assurance that you won't side with… them!" she spat out, pointing to the foe before her.
Helena stood on the other end of harry and the pointing hand directed at her accompanied by that challenging glare that she met "Me? What about you!? The line of succession is clear, you must understand that males come before the females in inheritance." in this old patriarchal primogeniture world, the medieval laws of rights to property's, holding and titles goes to the closest male kin instead of the female. daughters, granddaughters, wives, mothers and aunts could not inherit land unless the closest male descent was dead or non-existant, and by then husbands to those women would gain said property and pass it on to their son's. But Rheanyra was one of those people who would not obey those laws, like many other women of the age she detested the ancient rights that forbid women of pretty much everything that their male counter parts of the privilege of holding, she had a fire in her that could not be extinguished when lit even as Helana made her case not to her sister but to the man she was tasked with coaxing to her family's side. "My brother may not be from the same mother as yours, but he is a first born son and therefore the rightful heir to the throne."
"The Throne is mine! The Oath's of Fealty were sworn to ME! Before he was even born." Rheanyra stated, her words coming out bold and loud as she promclaimed her denial to give up the throne by the rights of succession that demanded she step down upon her brother's birth . "I will not step aside and let another claim what has been PROMISED. To me." She firmly solidified her place, refusing to be told or forced otherwises to the wishes of others.
Harry could see that this was going no where.
Both woman though sisters were at odds with eachother over the political differences both had that splits their family apart.
Rhearyna proud of her position of becoming the first female monarch in this lands history was a no so that way she would step aside and let her brother by the old patriarchal laws and society demand it so. She was not a weak woman as he could tell, she had a fiery passion in her as seen in many great monarchs through history with the ambition to conquer all.
Helena on the other hand was the exact opposite of her half sister.
Meek and gentle, dispite coming from a royal family and being a dragon rider herself, she lack the confidence that many of her kin seem to possess, yet she when pushed or driven she was not afraid to speak her mind and show a strong resolve that she keeps hidden.
It was obvious that she was sent here by the opposing side against her sister for her brother, just as Rheanyra came here to personally conclude her own success in strengthening to her cause.
Harry was the critical factor that decided the course of this realms history… and he hated it "Ok… I see that we're not going to get anywhere with this." He sighed out as stood up from the couch and stood before the two seated women.
"Obviously I can't kick either of you out without making enemies out of the entire kingdom. And none of you will leave until either one of you has finally got me to support you in one way or another." He stated the facts that had him dead in a corner with no alterinitve but to play along, he could of course lay waste to any who dared to go against him but the whole point of settling in a new world was to begin a new life outside the worries and hated life of Harry Potter who was targeted by both friends and enemies a like.
"So… since we're all going to be like this for an unspecified amount of time, we'll have to learn to get along. Now I may not know about your culture or traditons but as your host. I am setting the ground rules here that all of us must abide by." He said, settling forth the rules and laws that everyone under his roof will have to live by so long as he hosts this kingdoms two highly valued princesses.
With his expression deadly serious as he stared at the two with a strong unflinching cold glare that sent chills up their spines, warning them that they were to listen carefully and memorise his exact rules or face the conscequences of their actions. "First off… no killing anyone. An obvious rule but one I firmly stick by as this applies to both of your familes should they attempt to murder anyone under my roof."
Rheanyra and Helana nodded, both not saying a word and understand the first laws of guest rights.
The second rule was one he had faced all to often in a previous life "Second… Bribery. I am not swayed or moved by any form of object, position or curcenacy that you try to offer. Same goes for immtimindation and extortion. Try it and you'll see another side of me you'll never forget." The boy who lived had suffered from those who wished to use him, he had experience many people trying to bribe him in form or the other, from lords who tried to buy his property to trying to entice him with their Beautiful daughters to secure an alliegence with him until finally resorting to intimidation and attempts of bullying him to giving them what they wanted.
All of which failed specatually with those very same men never living to trying it again.
The two princesses looked at eachother, a silent sign that both will immidateatly tell their family's to postpone or cancel any plans that involved anything as part of that rule.
"Third which is linked to second rule if you or your family try anything related to attempted murder or attack on me or that which is mine. Know that you and your kin will get to personaly experience what I did to those before I came here." Another law that he had face concerning the second, Harry couldn't count the number of times he hand to fend off or protecting his friends and daphnee from those seeking to harm him through them.
"Is that all?" Rheanyra asked, getting bored of the reminder of guest rights she knew growing up and attending festivities at the houses of their vassels.
Harry had nothing else to say, just pointing out the big three that he didn't want happening around him "Pretty much, the rest of the rules are self explanatory if you were to geust another's house."
"I understand my lord. Know that I will not seek to dishonour the hospitality that you have given us." Helena answered with any ever peminant smile upon her face that she has yet to switch to him.
While her sister still bore her strong stern look. "And I will respect the guest rights so long as I am respected by the laws of the host." She also agreed in her own way.
Harry's hands clasped together as he gave a pleased smile that the rules were well and established "Glad to hear that. Now since you're going to be sticking to me, I suppose I can't stop you from following me into my lab where I'm working on some dragon egg's."
"Dragons! You've got dragons!?" Both women cried out, surprised to hear this.
The thought of him possessing other dragons then the one he had, had never crossed their minds.
"Dragon Eggs. I haven't hatch them yet and their not the typical dragons that you've grown accomsted to." He corrected them, but still the shock was still there and present on their faces as they followed after him in a hurry to see these dragon eggs that he had.
-inside Harry's lab-
Helana and Rhaynrea were led to Harry's lab which was different from his private office as they both could see.
Beholding wonderous and fantinating objects that their minds could not conceive of such as glass bickers of various sizes containing odd and colour liquids with spiralling tubes connecting them together from bicker to bicker as one was alit under a single concentrated fire.
Large balls of metal upon a piller with copper rings around it's long cylinder body, Pure lightening danced between them and never straying. A collection of tomes and books sat far away from the flammable objects within a glass shield, similliar to a collection of odd ingridates such as animal parts, plants, and an odd mixture inbetween all contained within their own glass boxes along with liquids that have names placed upon them.
Needless to say both princesses… including Rhayrena were at a loss for words at the room that put the whole citadel of measter's which was renowned to possess all collective knowledge and narly all of the knowledge and artifacts of the old world. But this room made her feel like she was a mortal in the home of the gods for such odd contraptions were beyond her mortal comprehensions to their nature.
And there, standing far away with a bemused smirk at the awed expression was harry, standing near the objects of his attention. Tuck away within a glass roofed box, sitting carefully on fluffed pillow's was a collection of Eggs of various sizes with some as big as man's head or the size of a coconut, Groups of them in their own boxes.
"I'm honoured by your speechless faces at my little workshop." He said as they finally remembered why they were here and so turned their head's to see the milthful smile that spoke of amusement at their silent expressions that left them rather embarrassed by their inability to voice out their awe and bewilderment of this room that puts the entirety of the citadel in old town to shame.
"Would you like to see the eggs now?" he asked as he gestured to said worldly collection he ecumulated in desires to not see such wonderous beasts die in the war torn world of Earth.
Helana was the first to approach, practically running over and pressing her face against the glass as she beheld the odd eggs that were nothing like the one's her family possesses "These are dragon eggs?" she voiced her amazement and curiosity at seeing them, noting the various styles of shelling they had, from smooth and patterned to rough and spiked .
All the while her half-sister looked from afar before turning her attention elsewhere to a nearby table where a series of items laid, most of which were tomes with one of interest to her sitting open upon it's own stand.
Curious as she saw the images of a dragon upon it's pages, she walked over and examined the interesting and odd book where the image's of beasts were clear but the writing was different from what she knew as it was written in a language she was unfamiliar with. As is custom with all high born she was taught the ancient and long dead language of High Valyrian, the base language of the great valyrian empire and the lords from which her family claims descent from.
But the words written on the pages weren't of valyrian but it did contain trace's of the great language as it was mixture between that and another that she was not known with as it did not relate to any known language she read about.
Her intellectual mind guessed that this book was a tome or rather an enclycopedia pertaining to dragons as with the first few pages she flicked through she saw dragon after dragon, each one unique and different then the last in appearance compared to her families dragons with one looking to be made almost entirely out of sea weed.
Yet again and again she saw the words beside said pictures and portraits were written in that unknown language, she figured that it was written in some form of valyrain not recorded like the broken and degenerated form spoken in the free cities known as bastard valyrian. She deduced that this language may be some new form not quite recongised as the doom destroyed much of what was known about the valyrian empire and their secrets, this language that she thought was perhaps a second language spoken within the long deceased empire amongst a sect that pertained to the high mysteries or powers within the hierarchy of the valyrian families.
Yet the bold name's could easily be seen and said in plain english, as she progressed through the pages, becoming more and more frightened by the prospect of other unique dragons that this book spoke of, it wasn't until that she made it one page that her blood finally chilled.
There with wide eyed horror she beheld the form of pure terror and monsterous horror made her freeze with fear as she beheld the beast upon the cover.
It had the body of a dragon but not the titan wings that gave her family's treasured mounts their gift to take to the skys, instead a second pair of limbs sprouted at the front giving the beast the four standing legs that kept it from the ground. A tail that split into two but what really got her was the 7 heads, each connecting to it's own serpentine long neck that attached to it's body.
It was a unique yet fearsome monster as each of it's heads where posed to attack with large snake like maws stretched open to swallow seven horses whole, revealing the teeth and mouth where upon the Picture fire spewed out from all of them.
Rheyrna didn't need to understand the language to know that this wingless beast was also a dragon and in bold writing she read out the name of the beast that rivalled any dragon in her family.
HYDRA.
The crown princess was taught the art of war and stratigy, the history of her family's rise to power of being the ruling monarch's of seven kingdoms.
Armies can hold castle's but a dragon can destroy any army on the field as proven by her ancestor Aegon, but with an army of dragons one can conquer an entire contient as proven before with ageon and his sister wives with their three dragons in total.
If Lord peverall were to raise any more dragons in greater numbers then what her family possesses added by his ability to control them would make him the most undisputed powerful being in the whole world with power to claim anything he wanted without question and any challenger would fall to his knees before what ever creature the man would unleash.
Rhyrna could not risk being on the receiving end of these beast's, with her already determined mind now fueled with fear and paranoria at losing him to the hightowers or having him become her family's enemy in general should he plot to overthrow them in entirely.
"Reading anything interesting?" a voice breathed in her ear, immediately surprised, Rhayrnea let out an uncharastisic screech as she jumped around to see the man who caused her heart to jump with fright standing there with knowing smirk on his face while at the side her sister watched with both amusment and equal parts envy.
She managed to gain control back and re-assume her composer while hiding the loud pounding of her heart that threatened to burst from her chest "Quite." She stated as she stood in her regal stature "I found this… tome to be quite… eyecatching. Tell me, what is it and what creatures are further implemented in it?"
"Well, I assume it's quite obvious my lady. It is a tome of magical beasts or rather… an enclyopedia of ancient and powerful monster's from a time when wizards would breed and create these thing for the intentions of war." He answered, not the least bit concerned with telling the truth to the two as no one but him can understand the instructions written in ancient greek and parseltongue. "Many of the creature's I assume you've seen are naturally breed while other's like the Hyrda were created purely from magical means. The book that this originally belonged to was created by the very same man whom was responsible for creating the very basilisk's that I later learned to make my own as you've no doubt seen."
Both princesses minds rang with alarms that this very book contained the written instructions to make more and new kinds of dragons. Naturally the thoughts of greed to possess such a book to make their own army of dragons but the wisdom of fear warned and reminded them that such a goal was near impossible as to steal from the man who hosted them was a death sentence, both literally and figuratively as they would lose him to the other.
Silently the two looked to eachother, sending clear glares that proclaimed their intent loudly that they would emerge victorious in acquiring Harry to their cause.
Princess Rheayrena adopted a new approuch as she stepped forward, pressing herself against him "Amazing!" she breathed out with a look of utter awe as if she was looking at a god while staring up at harry who raised an eyebrow at her sudden change in demeanour.
Meanwhile Heleana glared spitefully at her half-sister's act. Knowing the game she was playing but she would not be beaten in the contest for the Lord's heart, breathing in deeply she prepared her own act.
"It truly is." Heleana joined in, walking up and pressing herself on the otherside of Harry with his arm suspiciously inbetween her softer mounds "could you show us more?" she asked innocently as she drew his eye to her along with the narrowed stare of her sister.
Harry gave a gentlemanly smile to the two, not wanting to show favouritism to either one of the two princesses vying for his favour "I would be happy to. But first, I do believe we should tend to egg about to hatch." The tittering sound of metal and crackling of something else was finally heard by the two women who was preoccupied by all the wondrous things that they failed to notice the noise from the beginning.
Their eye's drew to the large fireplace where sitting in a small metal container fit for it was a large golden brown egg, it's smooth surface different then that of the scalled shells of their Targaryen dragon eggs not to mention as large a man's head.
Flicking out his wand, a small but barely visible arm of wind extended from the tip of the magical still and towards the smouldering hot egg that shifted and moved with life before that translucent arm surround it and lifted it from it's metal bed.
Rheayrea and Helana watched as Harry levitated the egg away from the fireplace to a nearby desk and landed it softly upon fire red cushion that now nestled the still hot shell.
All three walked towards the egg, two pair of eye's watched with anticipation and wonder as to what was about to come out, unaware that four more guest arrived in the room.
Syrax, the miniaturised Targaryan dragon ran or rather trotted into the room. Intent on getting away from the irksome sea dragons that harassed her with humiliating games that she could not defend against. She was chased through the halls, trying to find her rider to acquire some form of protection against them, and after evading and running around the seemingly never ending maze of halls she finally manged to find her rider along with her sister's rider Helana.
However syrax skidded to a stop as she saw that her rider Rhaenyra, Helana and her kins personal interest Lord Peverall all gathered around the table looking at something despite her alarming cries and squeak when she came running in.
Behind her she could hear the slithering getting closer along the freightening laugh of the three chasing her but she was less concerned with them now that she just as focused as to what the three humans where looking at.
Her senses picked up an odd smell that was distantly familiar before her curiousity got the better of her and she went up to the table. Flapping her wings furiously and hard she struggled to lift herself off from the ground and manged to climb up on the oak polished surface, there she manurvered over many objects that sat in her path before she got to see what it was that had their attention.
Sitting before her was an egg that rattled and moved with life.
Syrax instantly knew what it was that she was smelling, the scent of a hatchling about to come into the world. Her whole world now focused on this object dispite the jeering calls of her name from the three basilisk's who entered, she approached the unusual egg that shifted before her, she studied it noting that it was different from the eggs she had seen in their nesting grounds.
The shaking got more violent along with cracks forming on the shell surface before the entire thing exploded, large bits of shell surface went flying with smoke that Helana and rhearnya had to cover their faces to avoid the debris while syrax unfortunately was hit and thrown on her back from the force.
The three basilisk's slithered up to the table to see the cause with the two princesses lowering their hands from their faces to see the newly hatched dragon.
What remained of the egg shell fell apart with the newly born dragon standing upon it's wings, bits of yoke still clung to it's slim nimble body. It looked upon it's surroundings with baby like curiousity, shaking away any bits of shell off of it's dark grey skin before it gave the cutest cry anyone had ever heard.
"oh my… it's CUTE!" Helana cried out, gushing over the slick framed dragonling whose scaleless body gave it a fragile baby look along with the soft whine's it gave out.
Rheayrna was the same however she had a bit more self control and wasn't as vocal as her half sibling but that didn't stop her from staring at the creature like it was a new born baby. She will admit that compared to when her syrax was hatchling at this dragon beat it in term of cuteness and looks as all targaryan dragons are born with rough scales and fearsome features at such a small age.
Speaking of her dragon, Syrax quickly got back up after being thrown on her back, only to be face to face with the new dragon stairing at her.
S"Momma?"S the hatchling cried out as it stared at her, sniffing her scent as syrax dispite her near equal height emanated an aged fragrance compared to anyone else.
S"I'm not your mother!"S Syrax growled out as the newly hatched dragon started to press itself against her, nuzzling her neck affectionately.
S"Momma!"S it sqeauked again as it continued to push itself deep against syrax who growled but couldn't find it in herself to harm the hatchling despite the laughter she was receving from not only the irksome serpents but even the lord himself.
"Awwww. It thinks you're her mother." Harry translated the adorable scene that had the two princesses gushing with Rharyena quickly breaking her composer and awing at her the loving sight of the cute baby dragon cuddling up to her Syrax before assuming her stern serious expression to disguise the actural woman underneath the hard exterior.
Meanwhile the trio sea dragons Lernaean who sat coiled up on Harry's shoulders, Typhon who climbed and sat on the chair and finally Landon who was on the table not far from her, laughing their guts out S"congrats! So who's the father?"S the green scaled dragon laughed at the winged dragon's situation of the dragonling inprinting on her.
S"Momma!"S the baby dragon cried out again as it got within Syrax's personal space.
S"I'm Not your MOMMA!"S syrax screamed out as she tried to put some distance between her and the hatchling that stuck close to her.
Thankfully she was saved by Harry gently picking the baby dragon up from the desk and into his arms where it nestled in his arms that cradled it's fragile body "All joking aside. Let's give this youngling some food." Newly hatched, it needed food right away.
He looked up to the two who inched over the hatchling with big yearning to touch eye's "Would one of you like to feed it? It's food in that pot there." Both princesses looked to the small cauldron filled to the brim of tiny roasted brown bits.
They both rushed over, inspecting the crushed and oddly looking food before them "what is this stuff?" Heleana asked as she hesitated to put her hand in pot though the smell wasn't bad.
"Meat, fruit and vegtables roasted and chopped small enough for the youngling to eat." A balanced assortment of food necessary for the growth and well being of the dragon.
Though hestiatent Helana and rharyena approached and smelt the strong oder of the cooked mixed batched that permiated from the small area around the pot. They dared to put their hands in and felt the rough and solid bits surround their hand's before they pulled it out with a handful of the dragon food sitting in their palms, they rushed to harry, eager to feed the dragon as they all but shoved their offered piles in the dragonling's face who sniffed their offerings. It picked the closest one there was and it was from Rheayrnas hand, it's small dragon beak dug in and picked out a piece inbetween it's mouth before eating it.
"Magnificent creatures aren't they. First time I ever saw one, I was astounded by the magnificence and splendour of such beast's born out of the wonders of magic." He mused as he continued to hold the baby dragon within his arms, helping it as it shifted to get in a better position to eat it offerings "I also bore witness to that happening on my first time as well."
After eating it's fill from both women, the young hatchling gave out an adorable yawn before settling in his arms and began to fall asleep. "What are you going to do with him?" Rhayrnea asked, curious to know his plans for such a creature that would grow to become a indomitable force upon this world.
"I'm going to care for him of course. he's going to get big, might get a bit cramped having him around but once he fully matures he'll go out and find a place for himself to call home. Just as all these other's will when they hatch, I intend on rebirthing all of these creatures back into the world, outside of the desolation of war and destruction that nearly saw an end to their species."
Harry walked over to nice little area set up for the newly hatched dragon, a separate and isolated part of the room where a nice small bed fit for a dog was position far from any fragile and dangerous equipment in the room.
There he gently put it down in the incircling soft bed where it nestled itself within the soft cushiony fabrid and rested.
Helana couldn't believe the brilliance and spectical of the enviroment around them created by the man who hosted them, If helana wasn't already enramoured by Harry's- then she is now.
Lord Hardrian was like a dashing heroic prince or even champion fighting for the betterment of others. Like a young girl Helana was smitten with such charming and powerful men with soft hearts, tales of heroic knights and kind lords and kings were fantasies she often dreamed of marrying and having children with.
In Harry she found such a man who now had her heart beating out of her chest.
"My Lord is very great. He is truly a magnificent lord and humanitan to go out of his way to save entire species of dragons and revive their race back to their numbers." She spoke with honest words for once as her hands clasped onto her chest to still her beating heart.
Something that Rheayrena notice as she saw the change in her half sister, with the blush and dazed eye's that stared dreamily at the man they fought over.
Harry look back to the two had followed him and stared at him or in Helana's case looked upon him like an idol "Thank you for those kind words my princess. But it will take some time after I find a habitable location where they will live free, away from threats that would otherwise seek to harm them." As he spoke, he walked back down from the bed the dragonling rested itself in and back towards them.
However while Helena gave her own… supportive opinion on his motivations, the eldest princess had a different… view on his goal's.
"An… acceptable goal but Idiolistic nonscene all the same." Rheanyra answered with honestly, not even afraid of losing affection or relations with the man she is living under, she knew the risk's of her blunt and less then sweetened words by the startled and surprised expression on her sister's face from the corner of her eye.
While the man who she spoke bluntly too, quirked an eyebrow at her blantent statement.
"Oh? Then tell me how would you handle these then?" Harry asked, interested in why she thought overwise, he saw as she stood up straight with a regal posture that he hasn't seen in anyone else for a long time.
Rheanrya never broke eye contact or softened her stance or face as she spoke with a straight face and strong tone full of authority and power "While I know not your magical gifts and powers my lord. And I have no doubt that you might use those ability to safe guard the dragons, but as you know dragons are massive in size with an appitite to match. If you were going to hatch them all, then you need to consider the amount of food they need daily along the stretch of land each species needs to nest as they are quite territorial." She explained the basic necessities and behaviour of the magical beasts that her family possess.
There were reasons as to why there was a dragon for every Targaryen born was not only to increase the control and influence over the kingdoms, but to also keep the near extinct population of fiery beasts under control as well.
Dragons were hard to tame by normal men and women, only those of valyrian descent have the properities to not only bond and tame dragons but also resist their fires to a certain degree that makes them closer to their mounts.
Her family had the eggs to populate a land's worth of dragons but didn't hatch them as there were few of her kin around to control and keep them tamed. Plus as she stated, Dragons have a massive appitie to match, she knows that many of the livestock that the farms from all of the 6 controlled kingdoms own goes directly to the dragon keep to keep her family's precious mounts fed and well.
The Room was silent, the countinous snapping and flickering of the fire in the fireplace sounded out with the bubbling brew of liquids shifting and boiling in their containers and the buzz of electricity was all that could be heard except for the three of them. Finally after some time a small smile graced his lips "…excellently spoken Princess Rhayrna." What he said was not expected before the two princesses, both of whom believed that Rheanyra had offended the magical lord she was trying to win but instead achieved the exact opposite "Yes I will need to calculate and dispoit the right amount of food and lands for them. I won't release them all at once, Merely start at it slow. One hatchling at a time."
Harry was sick and tired of being surrounded by sycophanty and yes men's, he had enough of that throughout his whole life leading up to here. He was honestly expecting her to say yes just like her half sister but was honestly just as surprised when she critisied his dream, in a way she was not afraid of voicing her own opinions and critisim's on the flaw plans of others.
Just like someone he knew...
"you have a good head on your shoulders Princess. Perhaps this kingdom will prosper under the rule of a queen." While one basked in the praise another was feeling the fear of being defeated.
Helena had one job. One important task whilest she tried to woo this new lord.
To not lose him to Rheanrya.
Her family was depending on her to not drive or lose him to her sister who believed that she was destined to be the rightful ruler of the seven kingdoms when the law's of her father's, fathers dicated that only male heirs may inherit above the females from a direct line.
Helena needed to quickly turn the conversation elsewhere while she still had a chance to prevent Lord Peverell from supporting her sister "My lord. might I learn a bit more about magic, I'm ingrossly facenated by it and want to learn more." She quickly shifted the conversation to the mysterious powers of magic.
A subject that both she and her sister wanted to know more about.
The latter sending a quick and knowing look to her but none the less was interested to hear what Harry had to say.
Harry was cut off by the sudden question but quickly recomposed himself as he gave his detailed explanation into the universal force he wields "Alright. First off magic isn't some supreme or grand power gifted by the gods upon chosen individuals but an energy. An energy that is created by the natural force of all things. Life, Death, Fire, water, earth, wind are but examples of the many basic states that generate their own pool of energy. The natural elements generate they own branches of magic and inturn Magic feed's and fuels these elements in a harmonious symbiotic cycle. It is a mystical force that penetrates and binds all living things and inanimate objects togethers, Few individuals possess the talent or connection to feel and harness this power to manipulate it to create spells."
Helena was in awe of his detailed lecture on the mystical force that was only pure speculation until now "Amazing!? I've heard tales that wood witches could turn men into frogs or lay a curse upon someone that disrespects them. It is true? Can you really turn a person into an animal?" She wondered, becoming inthralled just as was her sister who listened carefully about the unseen and unknowable force that she'd look into later to better understand how she or those within her court might learn these powers.
Harry couldn't but smile at her enthusiasm to learn "Of course. It's a basic skill to turn an animal into an object or a person into a beast but it is a challenge to transform oneself into a beast and back again." He explained, remembering of his younger years during the Tri-wizard tournament when the disguised Barty Crouch Jr transfigured Malfoy into a Ferret.
"And again yes, curse's do exist and can be used to harm other's with misfortune or pain." He recalled a few cruses fling between students from the less painful and embarrising pranks rivel houses would play upon another to the more serious and maiming ones cast from bitter enemies and dark followers against aurora's.
He returned back from his musing to continue his lesson "now as I was saying about magic. It utilises the natural form of elements that is common and uncommon. The four basic elements Wind, Water, Fire and Earth, and then the uncommon natural states of universal order of Life, Death, Nature, Time, Energy, Conflict, States, Mind, Dimension, Light and finally Dark. All held in perfect Balance."
"Observe." Taking out his wand he pointed it at the irritated syrax who once more tried to keep the new dragon that imprinted on her away before she realised that she was once more targeted by the man who shrunk her to this disgraceful size in the first place.
Before she could move to dodge, "Vera Verto!" a visible force of wind hit the dragon that then to the amazement of the two princesses transformed into jewel encrusted golden goblet with no hint or sign of her dragon features other then a dragon insignia etched upon the face of the cup.
But Rhayrena's moment of awe was quickly overshadowed by her major concern for her dragon's wellbeing "Syrax!?" Rhayrana rushed to the table where the ridgeback looked at the transformed dragon with confusion.
"Mama?" it said as it stared at the dragoned transformed chalice before it was picked up by the first born princess who inspected the beautiful and refined cup in her hands.
She snapped her head towards the man who yet again used his power on her dragon "What did you do!?" she demanded to know what he did to her dragon, wanting to know if his spell had harmed her in anyway.
Dreading completely if he had killed her. Killed her beloved and well trusted companion that has been with her since she first hatched it from an egg.
Harry breathed out as he reassured her that it wasn't what she feared "She's fine. I mearly transformed her into goblet, no harm has been done to her." He approached with his wand pointed the cup she held before her, with a tap the cup transformed back into the small sized dragon that looked out of it and didn't even put up a fight as her rider held her gently against her bossism. "You see. She's back to normal, not a thing missing. This is a prime example of what magic is capable of when mastered. Manipulating and turning animate object into inanimate objects or even…" He once more touched the dragon with his wand where it slowly began to grow, forcing Rheayrnea to let go and watch as her dragon began to assume it's natural might form once more "increasing the size of anything the wizard or witch deems so." He said as all of the occupents looked up and saw the might dragon standing proud in it's natural size and height.
Syrax had never been more happier to be back in her beautiful and strong state. Forced to endure the humiliation and teasing from the three wingless serpents especially the loathsome emerald scaled basilisk that was Ladon.
Her fiery eye's locked onto the three that looked up at her blankly dispite the imposing and fearsome stance she took as she spread her wings out in an aggressive triumphant display "whose tiny now snake!?" she roared out to the three who were unfazed by dragon's regained strength.
She failed to notice that one of them. Typhoon had a wand in her mouth pointing directly at Targaryen dragon.
As quick as a flash, Syrax transformed back into her miniature size… in mid air where she quickly dropped back to the ground, no longer looking down but now looking up at the three that surrounded her with frightening sadistic grins "You again our little play thing." Landon snickered at poor syrax who didn't know if this could get any worse-
"Mama!" the baby Ridge back cried out as it once again cuddled up against her.
"Gods… damnit!" Syrax cried out .
But her squeaks and calls of distress went ignored by everyone as the two princesses were ingrossed by powers of magic and wanted to know more. "what about… raising the dead?" it was common conscept that many of thought about, the power to revive the dead.
No man or woman has gone without the thought of gods or other powers answering the prays and calls of those desperate and heartbroken to revive their lost love ones.
She was no different as were her father, for when the day her mother died, she locked herself In her room praying to every known deity there was to answer her prays of bringing her mother back to her.
She stood there and watched as Lord Hadrian's face went hard, his short silence told her all that she needed to before he did "… it is possible to reanimate a corpse but bringing it back to life fully… that's a whole another matter." He breathed out in both equal parts frustration and hardship.
Helena was confused by what he meant "But I thought you could truly revive anyone with the power of magic?" she believed that with power like his that such impossible things were possible.
"oh you could but it's almost impossible to bring someone back from the dead. I have the power but I choose not to out of respect that the dead deserve their rest… and I don't want a primordial pissed at me for playing god." He whispered the last bit's to himself as he was forwarned about commiting any offense to death.
He maybe the master of an omnipotent being but there was a limit to how far he can stretch that power and he wasn't going to test it.
He quickly got back onto the subject to avoid talking to the two about it "Anyway, where was i? Ah yes, magic. It is capable of a great many things that people may call god like but there are limits to how far one can achieve with such powers. Creating life from nothing is impossible. Making an object without giving something of equal vaule also impossible. Bringing the dead back to life without paying the price is foolish to try." He finished, stating the final facts about magic and it's properties to the two.
But Rheanyra wanted to know more… "Tell me about yourself. Who are you and why did you come here?" she asked, curious as to why a man such as him came to be who his and why he came here.
Harry looked conflicted, he want to bring up the painful memories of his past but knew that he couldn't keep it a secret forever.
With a long drawn out inhale he prepared to tell his tale "Well that… is a long story. If you have the time, I will regale you with the tale of my origin's and how I came to your lands."
"I want to hear it." Rheanyra bluntly said, giving him a pointed look as she waited to hear what fantiful tale he would unveil to him.
She would expect most of it to be a lie as she had grown up in a city and castle full of liers.
"As do I!" Helana joined in, wanting to know so that she may relay it back to her mother and uncle so they can investigate this or plan something out of it to persuade lord Peverell to join them.
Harry gave a long sigh, looking tired but otherwise accepting the two's demand on his life story. "alright then. Find a seat, pop a bottle open, pour some wine and open your ears as I tell my tale." He instructed, watching as they took their seats next to the fire, a cabinate opening with a few bottles and three glasses flying slowly to the table and setting themselves up with the corks popping off and the bottles filling the glasses up before sitting down.
Harry join, taking a seat facting both towards them and the fire that burned bright.
He was silent, his eye's looking dead on into the flame as his chin rested behind his clasped hands till he found the strength to speak "I wasn't born the powerhouse being that you see before you but I was born with magic to two loving parents who were highly skilled wizard's and witch's themselves. You see from where I'm from, there are soccorer families like mine who inherit certain aspects or magic's that other's do not along with powerful artifacts and social standing that first generation wizards and witches do not." He explained the world he came from, building it and giving the two a clear insight in the life of magical britian before the story of his life.
Both were becoming enthralled in this land they've never heard of, sipping their drinks silently as they listened to him create the world they knew not of "the land from where I'm from is highly populated with magic and magical beings like dragons, Giants, elfs and other creatures that the mind could only conceive of. However not all was bright and happy in this world of mine."
"For you see, the society was divided by ignorant and arrogant prejudice. The families of witches and wizards known as Purebloods saw themselves as superior to their first generation counterparts also known as Muggleborns as they were the offspring of non-magical parents but another name for them was Mudbloods which they used as an insult. The purebloods saw the muggleborns as lesser beings compared to them, even lesser then non-magical folk which they called muggles, people that can't use magic." Rheanyra frown, immidately knowing that were these purebloods to come to their lands they would not greet her family with the same respect that everyone else does but look and sneer at them as anything other then dragon riders.
She, her sister and kin would be classed as these muggleborns lord Peverall described, though the magic passed down in their veins through generations that gave them their power proved otherwise, she knew that they would be told less by these people.
"This Rift caused tension between the many purebloods who did not agree with opinons of their kin who wanted to enslave and subjugate the muggles and muggleborns. This created a schism in which the pureblood familes were devided between two sides that acted differently depending on their alliegence." The two princesses saw the similatires between the land that he came from and their own though with the lack of slavery on their part.
Houses and kingdoms were devided not from the lands that they are apart of but from the beliefs and ruling system that each kingdom is governed by.
The North being a prime example is the only kingdom to still practice the old faith of the old gods rather then the traditional and well spread out reglion known as the faith of the seven that had conquered this land long before her family arrived and conquered all save Dorne.
Rheayrna listened closely to the story, taking sips from her glass chalice of the sweetest wine to ever assault her tongue.
"There was the Light Families or as their opposing kin dubbed them *Blood Traitors* because many married muggle or muggleborn's while the Dark Families as the light called them or as said side referred to themselves as the Truer Purebloods who practiced and flauted their use of more dangerous and profound types of magics that are frowned upon as well as using dirty tricks to get their way unlike the light families who acted with honour and chivalry." It was honestly no different from their own kingdom as the kingdoms were devided between such notions of honour and chivalry against cunning and pursuits of for self-gain rather then selfless actions.
"This went on for years till here comes the dark families's destined champion. The so-called Dark Lord, Lord Voldemort." Both princesses were confused by the name, then again in another land such names considered natural while in westerosi society these names are odd.
"Voldemort wasn't a pureblood as you might imagen but in reality a Half-blood which is the offspring of pureblood and a muggle or muggleborn. If his followers knew the truth, he wouldn't be their champion nor their imagined king who would set them upon their destiny's as the rulers of the world."
Blood purity was a strong distinct factor in their society, as was told by Harry who knew the predjuice and racism being thrown around by arrogant prats like Malfoy who once called Herminone a Mudblood. And he as more then once been seen as a stain upon wizarding society because of his birth status and not by his social status.
"Any way, he starts this war within my land. Killing muggleborn witches and wizards, leading a grand crusade of pureblood superiority as he eliminates anyone that stands in his way… this included my parents who fought against him in a faction opposing his." At this his tone took a softer tune as he looked troubled, anger, hate and sorrow all mixed together in this new expression as he stared down at his own drink with a far off look "It was unfortunate that they did not know that the leader of their Order was in fact the world's biggest con-artist who pretty much caused all of this and was responseable for the death of my parent's… and my wife and unborn child."
Helena gave out a gasp, her hands clasped before her mouth as she looked at Harry with a *I'm truly sorry for your loss* look while Rheanyra stared with a soften expression upon her hardened face as she leaned forward, her amethyst eye's staring only at him as he told his story.
"I was about a baby at the time of this raging war when the man who suppose to be a symbol of light learned of a prophecy that a child born on a certain month will defeat the dark lord. Learning that it was me, he discreetly gave this knowledge to the dark lord through his spy. It was then obvious what would happen next."
