Bio-Forge Master
Chapter 17
The good thing about being able to split your attention and control possibly multiple bodies. It allows you to express your distress via a different body as well as contemplate potential solutions while not giving away the fact that your focus is on anything other than the cartoon or the fact that the gremlin in your lap is effectively giving you a lap dance.
The Problem: Mouse Protector getting giggity got and turned into Murder Rat.
The Solution: Pending.
It's rather interesting that once Fran started to consider pushing his psychic power beyond the 'paltry' tricks he had been employing, a deluge of facts, statistics, and scientific knowledge came out of 'nowhere' telling him why pushing beyond his means was a bad idea. It took him a few seconds to realize where this knowledge came from, and after he realized it, he… wasn't really all that surprised, honestly.
Apparently, Synchronicity Event actually had quite a lot of knowledge connected to the fields of psionic research and study, not that it explained the how or why of psychic power. It did however give him the knowledge of how to recreate the machines to recreate a synchronicity event that isn't fait-backed, how to create an army of Replicants, along with the frankly cool to absolutely horrifying weaponry and mechs of F.E.A.R which… actually answered the issue of manpower to secure his hospital, which the DWU are currently assessing, as well as staffing as well.
Though if he was toeing the line of Biotinkering with his own modifications, he would be jumping rope with it if he created the Replicants.
Actually, it made him wonder if some of his other perks came with additional things like Zoanthrope gene and Hybrid Biologist came with extras. Actually… no, he'll address that later. Right now, he should focus on his current problem.
Namely Mouse Protector. He didn't know specifically when it was supposed to happen to begin with and given that this is reality and not a narrative written by someone with issues, he wasn't sure if it would happen anyway.
Narratively, someone being foolish enough to actually reach out and hire the S9 is very possible, in fact in the narrative everyone seemed to have Idiot balls welded to their heads!
But in reality, the chances of this happening are very random, but the nature of powers and how they reinforce trauma increases the likelihood of Ravager doing something extremely foolish. Which in turn leads to the problem Fran found himself wrestling with.
Does he go full ham, risking disembodying himself only to exist as a poltergeist-like entity with horrific psychic powers that could essentially rip holes in reality itself? Or does he do something logical and reach out over PHO to Miss Militia (who, if he recalled, was a Ward with the Hammy Heroine) with his suspicions, claiming that he had his own sources?
And afterwards just train his psychic powers (specifically telepathy) to where he can in effect listen in on the whole city and keep his ear out for the S9?
To: Miss Militia ( SleeplessTypewriter)
From: Dr. Patches ( Dr. Patches)
Subject: Mouse Protector suspicion
Can you contact Mouse Protector? According to my own sources, the Slaughterhouse 9 are heading in her general direction. I can't be completely certain given the nature of the S9, but in my opinion, if Mouse Protector were to encounter them and die, the world would be a little bit of a darker place.
"Hmm, maybe I should rewrite this before sending it?"
Eventually, Fran decided against it and just sent it off before turning his attention to other things, such as taking a genetic sample from his original body and examining it, as well as prodding all his perks to see if there were any other secrets he overlooked or didn't notice.
He was pulled from his thoughts by Aisha leaning back and deciding to take a nap on him. Fran knew it wasn't actually that, all the augments made Aisha not need as much sleep as she used to, but the girl did love her sleep regardless. Honestly, all it would take is a peak with his telepathy to see what she wants, but where is the fun in that?
Besides, Fran decided to just enjoy this quiet, all the while Dr. Patches started to meticulously pick through his genetic code.
Human DNA isn't just something you can 'read' or analyze, it isn't something you could just take a picture of and skim through it like a book. The data contained in a single DNA strange by far outstrips anything humans have ever written, easily billions of words. You'd need an extremely powerful computer to even begin crunching the data within.
Thankfully the Matrix VR program is up to the task, honestly, he thought it only emulated the nervous system and tissues but apparently it went into far greater detail than even the movie suggested! Still while he uploaded a sample, he pulled a Smith and split into two, one focusing on the sample and the other went over to the shaolin cowboy LAI, he figured he might as well get some sort of combat training in. Yeah, while he had all this technical knowledge he didn't actually know how to fight.
His initial idea was to learn at least the basics of fighting before picking a specific style to focus on. Of course, his idea didn't last long because five minutes into it he started using Wing Chun at a professional level. He wouldn't be entirely sure until he got out of the Matrix, but… it stands to reason that the technical knowledge would come with some form of super muscle memory of how to actually fight as well.
Honestly? He felt a little like Jason Bourne, so he decided to do some investigations of his own. Summoning a digital representation of his wardrobe he got from the Portable Examination Station he grabbed the iconic Doctor Frankenstein outfit and decided to do a little experiment.
He already knew what Feel It Out would do, but what if he used that perk in conjunction with the knowledge from Toymaker? He hadn't gone into the sexual perk much; however, he had a sneaking suspicion that it encompassed so much more than just 'toys' and well… seeing as he was in VR it made a perfect place to experiment without Aisha taunting him for being a pervert!
But… if it worked like he suspected, he might not even have to go to Parian's! Though… now that she came up, The Cradle opened up some possibilities now, didn't it? Maybe he should see her, and maybe see if he could get a discount for Taylor and Aisha's costumes if he provided a large supply of materials for her?
Spider Silk? Honestly, he could theoretically make anything, all it took was the proper input and data.
Still, it was something to consider later. Now it was time to experiment!
Dr. Patches looked at his outfit in a mirror and moved around, stretching and the like. On the surface, the outfit didn't look different outside of being refitted for his size and extra sleeves for his arms. But if you look at it closer, the outfit is a lot more flattering… yet still somehow doesn't give away that he's male somehow.
Still, it wasn't as surprising as finding out he already had a Zoanthrope form along with a Hybrid form, possibly related to the Zoanthrope gene and Hybrid Biologist. Honestly, he expected to be in here for hours still, apparently his ability to process data was even higher in VR or something. He didn't entirely know for sure, but he certainly wasn't going to question it.
But yeah, it turns out his pre-existing zoanthrope gene got a double dose of spider so he wasn't entirely sure how that would affect his transformation. And the only way to find out would be to test it out… and well what better place than here?
In the game to transform you had to build up your Beast gauge, however those mechanics don't translate into reality. It took some experimenting but after a while he finally found the trigger, and immediately pulled it.
Immediately he grew an extra foot in height, bulked out, and his clothing all ripped.
"Well, this is interesting." He thought as he touched his face before looking at his fuzzy and clawed hands.
Though he supposed this is what happens when you splice dozens of various spider species into a single chimera. He'd have to experiment to see just what this form was capable of later, right now though he transformed back to his human form, completely naked, before he decided to see what his Hybrid form looked like.
Another quick transformation revealed… that he really didn't change much overall. His skin changed to gray, he lost all his body hair, he grew a muzzle, along with a hump and blowhole, along with a single fin. He was a Dolphin hybrid! Which… wasn't bad honestly, as he quickly pulled up some information about dolphins.
The first interesting ability being how they slept! Everything needs sleep after all, but dolphins found a clever workaround. They only shut down half their brain at a time while the other half remains conscious and takes over all functions allowing it to remain vigilant for sounds for days at a time! And while useful it wasn't entirely useful when you could already do that after a fashion.
Also, other than their sonar (which doesn't really work well on dry land) their vision allows them to observe three hundred degrees of panoramic vision. Which is actually pretty impressive in itself, combined with his augmented eyes it was even sharper!
Even their skin is interesting! It grows roughly nine times faster than a human, allowing them to replace an entire layer of skin in two hours. Their skin also secretes a non-stick antibacterial gel to deter parasites and barnacles.
After viewing all the data, he had at hand he looked down and saw his penis… and that no matter how much Aisha might ask, this was one shape he wasn't going to experiment with in the slightest. Honestly, it looked like it's been kind of painful to the recipient.
If anything, he needed to devise some sort of magitech device to shunt his clothing into a pocket dimension if he's ever forced to transform in reality. It'd certainly save him the time and effort of repairing his outfit.
Still figuring he could experiment some more with Toymaker and Feel It Out, he decided to see what else he could make!
Absentmindedly, he wondered what Taylor was doing, it wasn't a school day, and she wasn't at the apartment. Eventually he decided not to worry about it, if she got in trouble, she'd either use her power to figure out a way to deal with it, or she'd call them.
"Oh my god, you're Rabbit! Dude, I saw how you bodied Hookwolf!" A teenager blabbed, drawing even more attention to himself and Taylor, "Can I get your autograph! I've watched that video dozens of times since Leet and Uber posted it!"
"Ahhh… sure?" Honestly, all she was wanting to do was patrol in a safer place, to get a taste of what patrolling is like. Maybe even try the Challenger, Fran warned her, she would find her eating a lot more than usual.
Thankfully, her thoughtful lover created caloric dense nutrient bars for her to munch on between meals. He even made them out in various flavors! Her personal favorite was honey oat!
She took the still of her drop-kicking Hookwolf and… paused. She never decided on a cape name in the first place!? Thinking quickly, she decided to simply use the name he used, and honestly it wasn't even wrong now, was it? Hell, even she wasn't entirely sure what went into her genetics.
She vaguely recalled Fran muttering something about electric eels.
Taking another few moments and recalling something she heard on a video in passing about signatures, she quickly scrawled 'Rabbit' with a flourish. It was short and simple, on the off chance she had to do this again.
Little did she know this opened the metaphorical floodgates, and immediately she was badgered by people wanting autographs and to ask questions. And if she wasn't mistaken, a couple were even asking if she was single!?
Needless to say, between firing up a Route to quickly address everyone and signing everything, she got a lot of practice signing!
And the whole thing did a world of good for her self-confidence, nothing like simps to make a girl feel attractive. Not that Fran and Aisha didn't, but it was nice to know that others found her sexy!
"Eh, she's probably fine." Honestly, he wasn't worried about her getting into a fight, he saw the video of her damn near killing Hookwolf with a dropkick.
Outside of a few he could name, such as Lung and even then it's a maybe, Taylor could handle herself. Especially now that she actually could fight properly instead of flailing around and hoping something worked. Still, he looked down at his latest creation and he did answer his initial question.
He could in fact make weapons with Toymaker as long as there was a sexual use, and it turned out that said limitation was very flexible! He had effectively recreated the Threaded Cane from Bloodborne! Granted it was nowhere as lethal as the Threaded Cane, the segments being blunt and the thread itself not being sharp, and well… it could be used as a whip sexually if you had a really high tolerance for pain or were some sort of Brute.
CP Gained: 230 CP
CP Available: 850 CP
"That's… a lot of points…" Honestly, he was tempted to give it another roll, but he didn't need anything currently.
He was in a fairly comfortable position, the DWU was checking the abandoned hospital and seeing if it could be brought back to code safely. Any staffing or security issues were solved by the rest of the F.E.A.R knowledge being rediscovered. Actually, tomorrow he thought about swinging by the Brockton General and seeing if he could help out any.
Honestly, since the PRT were dragging their feet, he might as well go himself and have Panacea observe him. Though perhaps that's unfair of him, maybe the PRT were working on internal issues and not just dragging their feet?
And… now that he thought about it. Maybe he could make a dozen cloned organs for the hospital? Granted they'd be tested before they were used, but still, it would help! Besides, making organs isn't really a labor-intensive process, if anything it was more of a time sink as speeding up organ development causes little faults and defects to develop.
After unplugging, he'd have to put in an order in his cloning vats to grow a dozen organs, mostly hearts. Maybe a few kidneys. He'd have to ask if they wanted specific organs.
