Faulty Utopia

Chapter 12: Chapter 12 Metropolis

"Don't worry, if someone saw me, they would at most think that I am a human who went through extensive prosthetic body modifications," Tapai seemed much more optimistic than Sun Jack.

"Besides, in Metropolis, countless people come and go every day; nobody cares about us."

"As for the traces of the space station, the impact of the landing, and the subsequent rough search by the mercenaries have already erased those for us."

"I hope so," Now, being strangers in a strange land, they could only take one step at a time and see where it led.

Sun Jack couldn't help but feel a constant illusion as if someone was always trying to kill him, whether it was the mercenaries or the corporate practices.

"By the way, there should be normal people in this world, right? It can't be that the whole world has gone mad and I am the only sane person?" he silently wondered to himself.

Just as Sun Jack was lost in his wild thoughts, a phrase from Song 6PUS interrupted him. "Look, Metropolis is right ahead."

Following the direction of his e-cigarette, Sun Jack saw a bright colorful light piercing through the grey skyline far away, breaking through all the gloomy hues outside the window.

"Metropolis?" As Sun Jack sat upright, the mechanical litter he was lying on automatically moved toward the window, giving him a clearer view.

As the ship rapidly approached, soon a dazzling three-dimensional Neon City unfolded before Sun Jack.

Between the towering skyscrapers were lively neon-lit streets, various hover cars shuttled back and forth among dazzling multicolored neon billboards and huge holographic adverts, all bustling with activity above and below.

All the advertisements were lifelike and continuously changing; it seemed there were no restrictions here, with bold adverts for firearms, sex, and everything else Sun Jack could and couldn't imagine playing freely everywhere.

Some of the adverts he saw and understood, but their content was beyond his comprehension.

"The Gourmet's Enhanced Stomach, allowing you to enjoy and devour everything, whether it's lava or nuclear waste, you can taste it for yourself."

"Red Mud Little Stove 8 Youth pro miniMax now on sale! Strong yet affordable, the gun body is 3D printed with safe polyester material, non-toxic for children, Red Mud Little Stove, the only choice for children's weapons."

The pedestrians on the streets were dressed in all kinds of bizarre fashions, and the various data cables and metal prosthetic bodies were everywhere, some even more exaggerated than Tapai.

The persistent drizzle brought with it a mist that cast a hazy filter over everything, making Sun Jack feel as if he was in a dreamscape, with a surreal sense that what lay before him was almost illusionary.

"Is this Metropolis?" Sun Jack's eyes were wide open, staring unwaveringly at everything outside the window, all of which stood in stark contrast to his own experiences as if they were thoroughly two different worlds.

As the ship slowly landed, Sun Jack's injuries, along with Song 6PUS's, had completely healed, even Song 6PUS's severed arm had been fitted with a medical spare prosthetic body.

As soon as the hover car door opened, the bright world outside immediately became noisy, and Sun Jack, suddenly appearing in this extremely unfamiliar world, felt awkward, not knowing what to do with his hands. Everything was alien to him.

"Hahaha! Bro! Let's go have the time of our lives!" Song 6, unable to keep the smile off his face, casually walked over to a parked car, raised his mechanical arm, and forcefully smashed the window.

Following that, he pulled out a data cable from his prosthetic wrist and directly inserted it into an interface on the steering wheel; with a click, the car started.

One smash of the window, one insertion of the data cable. Tugging open a door, a series of movements as smooth as flowing water, clearly indicating this was not his first time doing something like this.

"Uh... this isn't your car, is it?"

"What you D his D, in my hands, it's mine!! Come on! Get in the car!"

As Sun Jack and Tapai got into the car, Song 6 floored the accelerator and launched forward.

Song 6 drove without any regard for traffic rules, flipping the car into convertible mode and speeding in the wrong lane. The wind rushed in, pushing Sun Jack's hair and scalp back while the rain pelted his face painfully.

In the end, he even stood up, steering with his feet, raising his hands and cheering at the entire city. "Freedom City! Woohoo!! Fuck yes! Come on! I've come back to life once again! Hahaha!!"

The city's near light-polluting advertisements were interspersed with the faint sound of gunshots, as if greeting his shout.

"Fuck! Get down from there! Are you crazy, or are you high?" Sun Jack punched him and dragged him back to the driver's seat.

"Hahaha! Of course, what do you think I'm smoking right now?"

It was then that Sun Jie caught a glimpse of someone standing on the rooftop behind a floating advertisement, unsure of what they were doing. "There's someone up there!"

"It's nothing, just a suicide jump." As soon as he said that, the person leaped forth.

With an electronic cigarette in his mouth, Song 6 PUS whistled toward them, "Wow! Dude, that's badass! Do a flip!!" And just like that, he turned on his live stream again.

As if hearing him, the jumper struggled to do a flip mid-air and then gave them the middle finger.

"Bang!" The person smashed onto the ground not far in front of the car, their head bursting open like a watermelon, instantly splattering blood and brain matter everywhere.

Song 6 didn't care in the slightest, treating it as if it was a trivial matter, gunning the engine, and driving right over the corpse, the tires leaving deep bloody tracks in the rain-drenched street.

"My god, what the hell is wrong with this city?" While Sun Jack was still stunned by the recent events, they stopped in front of a towering building, with sounds of heavy breathing and white fireworks shooting from the top.

Song 6 PUS, hooking Sun Jie by the neck, walked inside, and the lewd noises instantly replaced the sound of advertisements, filling Sun Jie's ears.

Before Sun Jie could get a clear view of the building's interior, Song 6 spoke out. "Where's the whore! I want to get laid!!"

From a person-sized transparent champagne glass, a catwoman in a mini skirt and glowing stockings sat up out of the liquid.

Then, soaking wet, she swayed her tail, clicked her heels in a feline stride, and approached them with a sweet, sugary voice, "Here comes your whore~~"

"Come lick him! This is my brother! The life-or-death kind!"

The catwoman, with a cloyingly sweet fragrance, pressed close, dancing around Sun Jie, swaying her body, and whispering sweet vanilla beside his ear.

The next moment, she bit her lower lip and pushed out her chest; she spread her legs toward Sun Jie, and a pink light shot out from within, illuminating Sun Jie's shocked open mouth and trembling pupils. "It... it can even light up?"

Song 6 PUS wrapped his arm around Sun Jie's neck, shouting loudly into his ear amidst the surrounding noise: "Brother! Welcome to Freedom City!!"
