Fated to Rule, Destined to Love: The Martial Emperor’s Curse

Chapter 15: 15. The Shadow’s Blade

A Deadly Mistake

SHING!

The dagger descended, aimed directly at Ling Tian's spine.

A fatal strike.

An attack from the shadows.

And Ling Tian—

Didn't move.

He didn't dodge.

He didn't counterattack.

He simply smirked.

The blade stabbed through his body.

But the moment it connected—

His figure vanished like mist.

"An afterimage?!" the assassin gasped.

And then—

A voice whispered behind them.

"Too slow."

BANG!

A fist slammed into the assassin's back, sending them crashing into the ground.

Ling Tian stood above them, arms crossed, watching as they coughed up blood.

"Who sent you?" he asked.

The assassin trembled but remained silent.

Ling Tian sighed.

"Figures."

He raised his foot—

And stomped down.

CRACK!

The assassin let out a muffled scream, their ribs shattering under the force.

Still, they refused to speak.

Ling Tian clicked his tongue.

"You assassins are always so stubborn."

Then—

A shout erupted from the battlefield.

"Ling Tian! Watch out!"

His head snapped up—

Just in time to see ten more assassins descending from the rooftops.

Their eyes gleamed with murderous intent.

---

The Dance of Shadows

Ling Tian's smirk widened.

"Now we're talking."

The assassins attacked at once, their blades gleaming under the moonlight.

Most warriors would panic.

Most warriors would retreat.

But Ling Tian?

He stepped forward.

CLANG!

His fingers caught the first assassin's sword mid-swing, twisting it out of their grip.

His other hand grabbed an incoming dagger, snapping the assassin's wrist with a flick.

A spinning kick sent another enemy flying, crashing into the burning courtyard.

The remaining assassins hesitated.

Too late.

Ling Tian vanished.

He reappeared behind one, his palm smashing into their spine.

Another assassin lunged—only to be met with a brutal elbow strike to the throat.

The last two tried to retreat—

But Ling Tian dragged them back, slamming their heads together.

CRACK!

They collapsed, unconscious.

Ling Tian sighed, dusting off his robes.

"Was that all?"

---

The True Threat Arrives

The battlefield fell silent.

The Ling Clan disciples, who had been fighting desperately just moments ago, stared in shock.

Ling Tian had just wiped out an elite assassination squad… alone.

The remaining enemies hesitated.

And then—

A slow clap echoed through the courtyard.

Clap.

Clap.

Clap.

Ling Tian turned his gaze toward the source of the sound.

A man in a long, dark robe stood atop the burning rooftop, looking down with amusement.

His aura was… different.

Stronger.

More dangerous.

Ling Tian's eyes narrowed.

"You must be the boss."

The man chuckled.

"Not quite. But close enough."

His eyes gleamed with a cold light.

"I'm here to deliver a message."

Ling Tian tilted his head.

"Oh? Do tell."

The man's smirk widened.

"Your clan is doomed."

And then—

A wave of killing intent exploded from his body.

The air shook.

The ground cracked beneath his feet.

And for the first time since the battle began—

Ling Tian's expression hardened.
