Chapter 46: Chapter 45: The Entrance of Freshmen, the End of the World Line
"Although it's only the second day of the new semester, our class has a new student and a new teacher!"
As the homeroom teacher, Okamine Tamae, introduced the newcomers, she stepped aside, revealing the transfer student to the class.
Ryuu stood there, arms crossed, scanning the room with a neutral expression. His gaze briefly landed on Tamae, and he couldn't help but inwardly question how someone with her appearance could actually be twenty-nine years old.
Although he wasn't particularly happy about Kotori's arrangement, he knew that most significant events involving Spirits in this world happened at this school. If he wanted to complete his objective of making the Spirits his subordinates, attending classes was a necessary step.
As expected, the classroom was buzzing with murmurs as his presence caught everyone's attention.
"What a bunch of kids..." Ryuu thought, slightly annoyed.
It almost reminded him of Kudo Shinichi's helpless situation—having to attend school despite being far beyond his peers in maturity.
With little emotion in his voice, he simply introduced himself.
"My name is Ryuu. Looking forward to studying with you all."
He kept it short, hoping to avoid unnecessary attention. Unfortunately, his hopes were crushed almost immediately.
"Wooow! He's so handsome!"
"Ryuu-kun, sit with me!"
"Forget that, sit next to me!"
The girls in the class excitedly raised their hands, eager to have him as their seatmate, while the boys gritted their teeth in silent envy.
Only two girls remained indifferent—Shidou Shiori, who had already met him yesterday and was watching the scene unfold with a wry smile, and Tobiichi Origami, who was glaring at him with an unsettling intensity.
Shiori had already expected this reaction from the class. Kotori had warned her that Ryuu would be transferring in, but it was clear that his appearance and demeanor would make it impossible for him to remain unnoticed.
Origami, on the other hand, was silent as she analyzed Ryuu. Just yesterday, she had barely survived the flames he unleashed. His sudden appearance at this school as a transfer student was something she couldn't ignore.
At the moment, neither DEM nor AST had any confirmed intel on him. Ratatoskr also wouldn't risk antagonizing him by leaking information.
Seeing the chaos unfold, Okamine Tamae wiped the sweat from her forehead, struggling to regain control of the class.
Amidst the commotion, Origami finally stood up.
"I have an open seat next to me. Please allow Ryuu to sit here."
"Huh? Oh, um, sure! Ryuu-kun, you can sit next to Tobiichi-san."
Ryuu sighed, realizing that there was no avoiding it, and moved to sit beside Origami.
As he walked, his mind wandered.
Ratatoskr was already ridiculous for letting a middle schooler like Kotori be their commander. But AST assigning a high school girl as a front-line soldier? The sheer absurdity of this world was almost impressive.
Before he could dwell on it further, Tamae continued her introduction.
"This is also our new assistant teacher!"
"Murasame Reine. I'll be handling physics. Nice to meet you..."
Before she could finish, Reine collapsed, immediately falling into a deep sleep.
Ryuu's eyebrow twitched.
"Is this what happens when you don't sleep for thirty years?"
Still, something about her presence felt... off. Her energy was different. Though she resembled a human, Ryuu could sense the same wavelength as a Spirit emanating from her—except hers was several times stronger than Kotori or Tohka.
He wasn't sure if he could take her in a fight. More importantly, he could feel that she wasn't exactly friendly toward him.
The morning classes dragged on, with Ryuu struggling to stay awake. By lunchtime, he stretched and let out a yawn, barely recalling anything from the lessons.
Meanwhile, Shiori immediately made her way to the physical preparation room, which Ratatoskr was using as a temporary base inside the school.
Ryuu, on the other hand, went to the convenience store to grab some lunch.

Ratatoskr Base – Physical Preparation Room
"What's going on, Kotori? You told me Ryuu was the only transfer student."
Shiori frowned as she faced Kotori, who sat confidently with her usual lollipop in hand.
"It's more convenient this way," Kotori replied nonchalantly. "Besides helping our dear Demon King, you also need to continue your own mission."
"Mission? I thought we were cooperating with Ryuu?"
"That's still the plan. But he's unpredictable. If he does anything that threatens the world, the only one who can stop him is you, Shiori."
Shiori's jaw dropped.
"Wait, what?! Me?! There's no way I can stop him!"
"It's not like you need to fight him," Kotori said, waving a hand dismissively. "Our priority is still helping him contract the Spirits. But at the same time, you also need to be prepared to seal them yourself if things go south."
"But why?"
Kotori let out a sigh and leaned back.
"We need to make sure the Demon King doesn't turn into a natural disaster. If we can't control him, we need an alternative."
Shiori furrowed her brows.
"This will only make him distrust us!"
"Yesterday, Ratatoskr's analysts reviewed the footage of his battle. If one Spirit can match him, then what about two or three?"
"But still—"
"These are backup plans. Right now, cooperation is the priority. That's why we need you, Shiori. The world's safety depends on you."
Shiori felt the pressure suddenly weigh on her shoulders.
Kotori, seeing her hesitation, smirked and pulled up a program on her monitor.
A GALGAME interface appeared on the screen, filled with date simulation prompts.
"This… what is this?"
"Heh. This is Ratatoskr's newest software," Kotori declared proudly. "We made a dating sim based on your interactions with Spirits. And now, we've created a special edition…"
Shiori's face turned red as she read the title:
"How to Capture a Demon King: Special Edition."
"Kotori! This is ridiculous!"
"I'm serious," Kotori said, completely unfazed. "With your charm, I'm sure you can conquer a Demon King."
"Absolutely not!"
Kotori simply grinned.
"Everything is for the world's safety, dear sister."
Shiori groaned, realizing she was doomed.

School Rooftop
Meanwhile, Ryuu sat alone on the rooftop, enjoying his lunch.
The fried noodle-flavored bread he bought was surprisingly good.
He gazed at the sky, contemplating his next move.
"So, this is my life now? Attending high school and playing along with Ratatoskr's plans?"
He sighed.
"Well, if it helps me find some subordinates, I suppose it's fine… for now."
Unbeknownst to him, certain forces were already setting their sights on him.
