Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Holy Tree

[3rd POV]

[You have defeated King Arthur and broken the Sword in the Stone, reducing his reputation and making Vortigern's army even more powerful.]

[Vortigern is very satisfied with your choice. With the trust of the king and your military achievements, your status now ranks just below Vortigern himself.]

[Under your leadership, over half of Britain's territories have fallen into Vortigern's hands.]

...

"What an interesting battle report."

Kyouya looked at the battle report inside the recently captured London, and even he couldn't help but chuckle at the contents.

"The monster raised by Vortigern is prowling Edinburgh."

"The unspeakable man-eating demon king is approaching York."

"The despicable and shameless traitor has entered Sheffield."

"General Lloyd has captured Peterborough."

"General Lloyd is approaching Oxford."

"His Majesty Vortigern's Blade, General Lloyd, has arrived today at his loyal London."

Under Kyouya's leadership, Vortigern's army had marched from northern Scotland to England, rapidly devouring Welsh territory along the way.

"Since you understand you're no match for us, why don't you tell me everything you know?"

He looked at the prisoner before him.

London had now fallen into Fujimaru Kyouya's hands, but there were still many resistance forces.

"Don't insult the dignity of a knight. If you're going to kill me, then kill me."

"You're full of confidence. I hope you can still speak like this after what's coming."

Kyouya looked at the knight before him. He was nothing more than a burly, rough man.

"Don't underestimate a knight. The noble knight is not something a despicable coward like you could ever understand."

The captured knight's tone carried a hint of confidence, but it was clear he had heard of Kyouya's brutal methods.

A man who could be so cruel to his own parents—how could he show mercy to a stranger?

"Let's see what useful tools I have."

He ignored the knight's weak growls.

He then started taking small things out of his bag instead, and each thing made the knight tremble.

"This one's too big. This one's not right. This one's too cliché..."

There were branding irons, nails, hammers, whips... He felt a chill in his heart when Kyouya took each tool in his hand.

He didn't breathe a sigh of relief until Kyouya put them down. When he felt most relieved, Kyouya finally pulled out his trump card.

"Haha, I found it."

Kyouya carefully watched the knight's breathing and finally took out a huge pair of pliers when he let his guard down.

"I'll cut your... and stuff it in your mouth. Can you bear this ultimate humiliation?"

"Ah~"

Not only was the knight frightened, but even the interrogators standing next to him couldn't help but cry out in fear when they saw the huge pliers.

They instinctively squeezed their legs together with fear the pliers might strike them in a vital spot at any moment.

"Knight, say goodbye to your... pet?"

"You... can't...you can't do this..."

The knight who was willing to sacrifice his life in the last moment was trembling in front of the blasting pliers in the next second.

"I confess, I'll tell you everything, just take this thing away from me."

As Kyouya approached, the knight was so scared that he almost wet himself.

"It's the Gaul... the one called Lancelot, the Gaul leader. It's all his doing."

"Gaul? You can't even come up with a good lie?"

"It's not a lie. Lancelot may be Gaul, but he was raised by fairies. Now that Britain is in trouble, he was summoned by the fairies of Avalon."

As the pliers drew closer to pet, the knight's pants were already soaked, and soon a strong smell filled the interrogation room.

"Lancelot? That name sounds familiar."

He pondered the name and suddenly recalled that this guy seemed to have betrayed his good friend, Artorius.

"Lord Lloyd, His Majesty Vortigern summons you."

Just as Kyouya was about to deal with him, Vortigern's summons interrupted him.

"I'll go right away."

He set down the terrifying pliers and made his way to Vortigern's throne. Obviously, this king intended to use the recently captured London as a base.

"You're planning to give me command of the army?"

He immediately wondered if Vortigern had gone senile as he was directly handing over military authority just like that.

"We have common interests. You trust those you need and don't doubt those you don't. From now on, I will focus my energy on the Holy Spear."

Kyouya's earlier decision to defeat Artorius but spare him didn't raise Vortigern's suspicions, it only strengthened his belief that Kyouya was a valuable asset.

"You broke that brat's sword, and Merlin shamelessly went to Avalon to ask for the Holy Sword. I need to untie the anchor of the Holy Spear before that brat gets his hands on it."

He looked at the Holy Spear in front of him.

London was the closest city to the Reverse Side of the World, and if the Holy Spear could anchor here, it would be able to bring the Gods back to the earth at the fastest speed.

"Next, I will transform into the Holy Tree and withdraw most of the forces to guard London. Your task is to protect the city."

He spoke as he drove the tip of the Holy Lance into the ground, and vines began to sprout from the earth, wrapping around him and the Holy Spear.

On this day, a towering giant tree shot up from the ground, blocking the sky and sun and everyone in London stared in shock at this strange phenomenon.

They could vaguely sense something from the tree, an indescribable and mysterious feeling.

Meanwhile, in a corner of the city, Lancelot watched the enormous tree with growing unease.

He decided to go and investigate further.

To be continued...
