Chapter 6: Chapter 6: A Gentleman Deceives with Fair

[3rd POV]

[Your battle with Gawain lasted from day to night. After losing the blessing of the Saint, Gawain was no longer your opponent, and you defeated him.]

[The news of your victory over Gawain shocked all of Britain. Britons' fear for you grew even stronger, and the effect of your "Vortigern's Blade" was enhanced.]

[Vortigern is highly satisfied with your achievements and has entrusted you with even more troops. The effect of your talent, "Charisma," has been enhanced.]

...

"I never imagined you would lose to him. You've really opened my eyes."

Agravain said, looking at the injured Gawain.

Even though he and his older brother didn't get along, he still had some understanding of Gawain's strength.

Vortigern's Blade is that truly so powerful?

"It's not about whether that guy is strong or not, and it's more like..."

Gawain trailed off, recalling his battle with Kyouya, and the thought alone was enough to leave a sour taste in his mouth.

He was blinded by blood, thrown lime powder, poisoned throwing knives, and targeted all the low blows... every dirty trick was used skillfully with the continuous flow of sword attacks.

The sword strikes, flowing like water, consumed him like a whirlpool.

If it were just that, Gawain could have used his own strength to break free, but those sneaky tricks nearly made him sick to death.

At this moment, Gawain's hands were trembling, clearly indicating that Kyouya's poison was kicking in.

"Next time, I definitely won't lose."

He declared, gritting his teeth as if sheer willpower could overpower his condition.

"Next time, I might not be able to save you in time."

Agravain replied coldly. He didn't think about "next time." The real issue was how to recover from this humiliating defeat right now.

The whereabouts of King Arthur remain unknown, and Vortigern alone is already a formidable challenge for them.

Now, with the addition of Vortigern's Blade...

"We have to get rid of him before he becomes a bigger threat."

"Get rid of him? You're not even his match."

Gawain understood that his younger brother was full of schemes, but was Kyouya really someone they could deal with so easily?

Agravain's strength wasn't even enough to take him down, and that would affect his strategy.

"Hmph. I know he's strong, but what about his parents?"

Agravain's dark face twisted into a sly smile, revealing his true nature.

Obviously, this man, much like Kyouya, bore the title of a knight but didn't really see himself as one deep down.

...

[As a Knight, you didn't neglect your training with various weapons. You've gained some proficiency with clubs, bricks, throwing knives, lime powder... and have awakened the skill "A Knight Does Not Die Unarmed."]

[A Knight Does Not Die Unarmed: You can imbue any weapon in your hands with the abilities of your Noble Phantasm.]

"Well, looks like I'm about to trust in the Gatling Buddha now.]

Kyouya looked at his current status.

He not only had unlocked skills recently, but his original attributes had also been improved.

...

There are some attributes have directly increased by a level while others have gained an additional "+" symbol.

After testing, Kyouya concluded that this means he can unleash power beyond the current level for a short time.

Originally, he thought a single "+" was already overpowered, but with two "+" symbols appearing in the Noble Phantasm, he couldn't help but wonder if there might even be three "+" symbols later on.

Unfortunately, he didn't have the time to continue his thoughts, with a terrible piece of news reached his ears.

"My parents have been captured?"

Fujimaru Kyohei was summoned to the grand hall by Vortigern.

The news caused him to furrow his brow slightly.

In fact, he was ready for what was going to happen today.

He had secretly returned home to bring his parents along when he first joined Vortigern's army.

However, all they did was scold him as a traitor and express their disappointment.

They didn't say anything more.

This was to be expected.

After all, they had placed great hopes on him since he was a child, counting on him to one day drive Vortigern out.

However, he had now openly sided with the enemy.

It was a miracle they didn't die of shock, and at least they seemed healthy.

He had mentioned the decline of the Age of Gods, but it was dismissed as 'nonsense meant to confuse the people.'

"What are you going to do?"

Vortigern looked at him with great interest.

It would be dangerous for his parents if he stayed with Vortigern's side, but they would die after the Age of Gods fully declined if he betrayed them.

Of course, he could always hope his parents would pass away before the Age of Gods completely faded.

"I've already made my decision. Leave it to me."

He naturally wouldn't ignore his parents' lives, but surrendering recklessly would be to walking into a trap which wasn't the right choice.

He also didn't want to abandon his parents or surrender, but he wouldn't take the path others tried to set for him.

"I look forward to your decision, Lloyd."

Vortigern still couldn't fully trust him, but Agravain's actions had completely pushed him toward him.

After this matter, Vortigern would be able to decide whether he needed to fully trust him and would also be able to assess his plans through this situation.

"Before that, I need you to do me a favor."

"What is it."

"Spread the news about Agravain capturing my parents. The more people who know, the better."

He didn't know Agravain's character but understood Artorious's character.

To be continued...
