Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Final of Age of the Gods (1)

[3rd POV]

[London was gradually crumbling under the enemy's attack. With King Arthur's reputation, fear began to spread throughout the city.]

[The Anglo-Saxons, who had come for their own interests scattered quickly. Those who gathered for selfish reasons can't be trusted in times of danger.]

[You can feel it, more and more people are getting closer to the Holy Tree. There are only three hours left before the tree blooms.]

"Only three hours left?"

He could feel the increasing number of people approaching, and everything became part of his domain under this holy tree.

He estimated the enemy's numbers to be around... fifty thousand.

'Defend against fifty thousand for three hours? This isn't difficult.'

This wasn't just Kyouya's confidence but also mutual understanding between both sides.

"Artorius" had only brought a few knights to the Holy Tree, and more people coming would only increase the casualties and get in the way.

"Gawain, Agravain, Lancelot, Tristan... is this all? Artorius, have you run out of knights?"

"Trying to provoke us with words from the start, Lloyd, this is a sign of your lack of confidence."

"Artorius" wasn't disturbed by such clumsy rhetoric.

It was a sign of trust in his companions.

"If possible, I would like to finish you myself, but your fate has already been sealed by him."

The falling leaves brought a message, the will of Vorigern. He wanted to meet the so-called "King Arthur" puppet and see Merlin's confidence in speaking so arrogantly.

"Leave Vortigern to me, Lloyd, and I'll leave the delay to you all."

"Artorius" didn't expect anyone beneath the holy tree to defeat him, and the key to whether the Age of Gods would decline wasn't here.

The fate of the Age of Gods lay in the battle between the Red Dragon and the White Dragon.

"Lloyd, I will come to save you."

"No need."

It was just a fleeting moment, but no words were left unsaid for these rivals.

"Artorius" understood that Kyouya was helping Vortigern just so the people he cared about could live out their lives peacefully.

He himself had no particular reason to help Vortigern.

That would be enough as long as the decline of the Age of Gods can be slowed down.

"Artorius" couldn't achieve this at the moment, but as long as he didn't give up, everything was still possible.

This is the "greed" of humanity, and at this moment, "Artorius" had come to understand it.

"All of you, come at me together. I'm in a hurry."

Kyouya drew his holy sword.

However, after just a brief exchange, he sensed that "Artorius" had experienced some kind of change that made him feel uneasy.

Can Vortigern really win?

Although Kyouya isn't exactly Vortigern's subordinate, as an ally, he still respects the other's choices.

He doesn't intend to interfere in the fated battle between the red dragon and the white dragon, but that doesn't mean he would just sit by and watch the decline of the Age of Gods.

Even if "Artorius" won, he would still give him a surprise attack to ensure the Age of Gods continued.

"Lloyd, do you perhaps underestimate us too much?"

Gawain stepped forward, and the time was precisely three in the morning and the next three hours would be his peak.

He naturally didn't hesitate.

"Sorry, maybe I didn't express myself clearly. I don't underestimate you, it's just that each and every one of you here is trash."

The Holy Tree swayed in the wind and the dazzling sunlight immediately faded, and the blessings on Gawain began to fade.

As Gawain stood there in a daze, Kyouya made his move.

Who could have anticipated that he would strike when Gawain suddenly grew weaker?

"Clang~"

A shadow swiftly charged forward, momentarily blocking the strike that seemed certain to land.

Although he couldn't stop Kyouya, it was enough to give Gawain the time to react.

"Gawain, you're distracted on the battlefield."

Among the knights, Agravain was the first to see through Kyouya's trick.

"The pure and clear Holy Sword has fallen into such a villain... it's truly unfortunate."

The mournful sound of a harp echoed alongside the arrows.

Tristan had already nocked an arrow and was ready to fire with his understanding of the sacred tree and Kyouya's strength clear in his mind.

He had to give it his all from the very beginning, or else they would be the ones to lose surely.

"What a troublesome guy. I had planned to take care of that muscle gorilla first, but since I've failed, I'll just go all out."

He released his magic, stirring the water vapor in the air, and droplets of water floated in mid-air one by one.

"Then let me show you what the Vortigen's Blade is truly capable of."

The blue sword light flashed, and the water droplets in the air, guided by Kyouya's swordsmanship, transformed into sharp blades.

"I told you, under the Holy Tree, I am invincible."

...

"You've come, Red Dragon."

Vortigern opened his eyes.

At this moment, Vortigern's body was connected to the tree, and he looked at the so-called "nephew" before him with disdain.

This was not his brother's child.

It was merely a tool created by Merlin.

"I've come, Vortigern."

Artoria stood before him, not daring to let down her guard for even a moment.

Vortigern was the tree itself and the very essence of the Age of the Gods... he was... the White Dragon.

The powerful muscles moved excitedly, the once-weathered white hair had regained some energy, and his eyes had transformed into dragon-like slits.

Artoria, too, also felt the change with her eyes turned into slits as well, the blood of the Red Dragon surging within her veins.

"Hehe~ Merlin, the one who started all this, dares not come before me but sends a puppet instead. Very well."

He stood up, and the vines connected to his body exploded, yet his own aura did not weaken. On the contrary, it grew even stronger.

"Let me see what qualifications this puppet has to stand before me."

"A puppet? Then savor the experience of losing to the puppet you so easily ignore. I'm sure it'll be... interesting."

Artoria unsheathes the Holy Sword with a golden glow blending with the golden light of the holy tree shining together.

They were both fighting to protect something, but their paths had led them to become enemies.

They both dared to be careless, and neither side made the first move.

Then... they moved.

To be continued...
