Farming Games are All About Grinding

Chapter 415: The Rose Blossoms

Han Qiwu put away the eel with a gentle smile and walked straight into the strawberry patch.

That's right, after so many days of growth, the strawberries were ripe again!

Upon closer inspection, the strawberries of the second harvest were even larger than those of the first.

Moreover, thanks to Shennong's improved breeding, the second harvest came with a special effect that increased overall yield by 20%. Each strawberry plant bore more fruit, which was a delightful sight.

Spring rain drizzled over the crimson strawberries, sending forth bursts of their sweet fragrance.

"Time to strike it rich again!" Han Qiwu chuckled, plucking a big strawberry, giving it a quick wipe, and popping it into his mouth.

One bite and his mouth was filled with juicy sweetness—it was unbelievably satisfying!

"Too bad Mr. Tang is busy right now, or I'd have her come pick strawberries again."

Well, guess I'll handle it myself.

Han Qiwu rolled up his sleeves and quickly harvested all the strawberries.

Harvest results: [Strawberries] ×311!

The strawberry yield, boosted by numerous farm perks, had reached an astonishing number!

A single haul equivalent to nearly a hundred thousand in value!

If turned into strawberry jam, the earnings could even double!

We're soaring high now!

"Can we even spend this much money?" Han Qiwu thought, feeling a bit inflated as he calculated the earnings.

Guess we're pretty much living the good life now, huh?

Next time at the peddler's stall, whatever catches my eye—I'll buy it!

Not buying what's right, just buying what's expensive!

Unfortunately, this thought didn't last even five seconds before he extinguished it himself.

Turning to look at the animal shelters on the farm, wasn't every single one of them a money pit?

The high-grade chicken coop wasn't even on the horizon yet!

Money without materials is useless after all.

Back to grinding.

After finishing the strawberry harvest, Han Qiwu promptly turned some of this batch into strawberry jam and tossed the remaining strawberries back into the mix.

Then he moved on to harvest the potatoes.

The potato yield was also impressive—perfect for eating at home or gifting to Brother Tu Tou.

Once the vegetables were harvested, Han Qiwu noticed the newly planted canola flowers in the nearby flower field were already in bloom. Golden and resplendent, they attracted countless bees buzzing around.

"Once these two batches of canola fully mature, I can press some canola oil. Imagine frying up some potatoes, sweet potatoes, drumsticks, nuggets, and chicken strips—that'd be amazing." Han Qiwu thought to himself, swallowing a mouthful of saliva.

Before he could turn his gaze away, his peripheral vision caught sight of a blue plant.

Looking carefully, it turned out to be a blue rose!

By the calendar, today happened to be the day roses bloomed!

"Wow, such luck!" Han Qiwu quickly dashed over. Truth be told, he had never laid eyes on a natural blue rose before.

The so-called blue roses in flower shops were all dyed artificially. They were decent from afar but up close, the flaws became apparent—the color was unnatural, and over time, it would fade.

Looking closely, Han Qiwu discovered that out of the 20 rose seeds planted, three unique varieties had grown. The most abundant was the one Han Qiwu knew well: Calola, the classic red rose.

These red roses bloomed with unrestrained grandeur, their petals so striking one couldn't resist approaching for a closer look—but if enchanted by their allure, you might risk a prick from their thorns.

[Calola]

[Blooming period: One month]

[Product - Rose petals: Three petals can be harvested daily]

[Product - Rose nectar: Only produced during bloom, collected by bees, quantity is scarce]

[Product - Seeds: 1-2 seed packets produced upon wilting]

[Note: Summer is just perfect for a bowl of rose jelly, yum!]

"Rose petals? Just right for making rose jam! Too bad I don't know how to make perfume—imagine the pure scent of homemade perfume." Han Qiwu plucked three petals from a nearby Calola, lowered his head and took a sniff.

Mmm, divine!

[Rose petals]

[Usage: Perfume ingredient/Food material]

[Note: Harvested from Calola petals, carrying a unique fragrance]

A total of 11 Calola bushes was harvested, yielding [Rose petals] ×33.

"Thirty-something petals should be enough for one bottle of jam, right?" Han Qiwu pocketed the petals and turned to the next variety of roses.

These roses were a pale pink hue, their petals opening gently, with an elegant bloom. The layered look made them appear soft, charming, and fresh.

They were the kind of flowers that girls would adore.

[Pink Belle]

[Blooming period: One month]

[Product - Rose petals: Three petals can be harvested daily]

[Product - Seeds: 1-2 seed packets produced upon wilting]

[Note: Beloved by sweethearts]

Unlike Calola, Pink Belle couldn't produce nectar and could only be harvested for petals to craft items.

No problem—it's good enough just by looking pretty. Giving them as gifts works great too.

Lastly, there was the blue rose Han Qiwu had just spotted. At first glance, it resembled Calola, but upon closer inspection, it revealed a more demure form. Its buds, half-open and bashful, seemed endearingly delicate, yet its royal blue hue exuded an irresistibly queen-like aura. The combination of such contrasting traits hypnotized anyone who laid eyes on it.

[Blue Enchantress]

[Blooming period: 20 days]

[Product - Enchantress petals: Two petals can be harvested daily, and perfume crafted from these petals greatly enhances feminine charm]

[Product - Seeds: 1 seed packet produced upon wilting]

[Note: Dreamy Blue Enchantress]

"Interesting, Enchantress petals? Looks like I really need to figure out how to make perfume. Sister Jin Tu should know how—it shouldn't be harder than mixing drinks or medicine, right?" Han Qiwu mentally took note, intrigued by another characteristic of the Enchantress petals.

The perfume's effect was to greatly enhance feminine charm.

In other words, it only worked if there was already charm to amplify—fit for someone who rarely wears makeup or dresses up.

Like a lady scientist.

Ahem.

There were very few Blue Enchantress roses, just two bushes. Hopefully, with more watering, a couple more could sprout.

Little Shui, freshly awake, rubbed her eyes and spotted Han Qiwu in the flower field. She hurried over with her little short legs, thudding as she came, and begged for a hug.

Han Qiwu bent down to scoop her up and reminded her, "You can look at these flowers, but don't go grabbing them, okay? Beauty is to be admired, not destroyed!"

"Awu!"

Little Shui shook her head repeatedly, pointing at the petals in Han Qiwu's hand that hadn't been pocketed yet. She rolled her tiny eyes with a pout.

"Ugh, men!"

Han Qiwu's face turned crimson and he quickly explained, "This is different—they'd go to waste if I didn't pick them. You don't understand! Okay, okay, go play outside now, don't make your Little Prince brother claw at the ground inside the house!"

"Roar!"

The Little Prince, upon hearing his name, poked his head out from the cellar. Seeing his younger sister awake, he knew it was time to head out, so he leapt out of the cellar, washed his hands by Hospital River, and carried Little Shui in preparation for their outing.

After finishing the day's flower harvest, Han Qiwu stretched lazily, loaded up his supplies, and prepared to head out and buy gold-thread fishing supplies!

Harvesting was indeed exciting, but fishing had its own kind of fun!

We're grown-ups—we can enjoy both, right?
