Farmboy becomes King with the Lust System

Chapter 72: Yuna trapped

Princess Yuna stepped past the edge of the barricade and into the yawning mouth of the dungeon. The moment she crossed over, the temperature shifted.

The sunlight that had warmed her shoulders disappeared, swallowed by the dark, and a chill rolled across her arms as if the cave itself exhaled on her.

She tightened her grip on the wind‑etched staff she carried and pressed forward, letting her mana hum faintly around her.

For a while, she walked alone, her boots crunching on the gravel floor and her breath a soft rhythm in the silence.

The torches fixed to the walls at random intervals flickered weakly, throwing uneven light that left gaps of pure shadow. Yuna's eyes darted into every one of them, half expecting something to crawl out.

It took some time, but eventually, she spotted movement further down the winding path. A soft glow flared briefly, fire magic, and then died down again. Relief bloomed faintly in her chest. At least she wasn't completely alone.

When she reached the group, the four students turned sharply, eyes widening the moment they recognized who had just walked up to them.

"P-Princess Yuna?" The boy in front, who looked about her age, stumbled over his words. His jet black hair clung slightly to his forehead from sweat, and his staff was still faintly glowing from recent use.

Yuna offered them a small nod, though she didn't waste time with formalities. "Where is Jae's team? Did you run into them?"

The group exchanged quick glances, uncertainty flickering in their faces. The girl with brown hair shook her head. "Sorry. We haven't seen them."

Yuna let out a small sigh. It wasn't disappointment at them, just the frustration of having no clear lead. She adjusted the strap of her bag higher on her shoulder and looked back down the dark path that stretched ahead.

"Alright," she said, her voice steady. "I'll keep moving. Maybe I'll find them deeper in."

The team hesitated, and the muscular boy who towered over the rest frowned slightly. "Are you sure it's safe to go alone, Princess? This place isn't exactly forgiving."

"I'm fine," Yuna assured him, though the edge of concern in his voice made her pause. After a moment, she added, "Actually… I'll come with you for now. Maybe we'll cross paths with Jae's group."

The boy nodded, accepting her decision without argument, and they shifted their formation slightly to make room for her.

As they set off again, Yuna studied the group more closely.

There were four of them. The jet‑haired boy who had spoken first seemed to be the leader. His movements were deliberate, his gaze always scanning ahead for traps or monsters waiting in the shadows. Beside him was the girl with brown hair, her eyes bright and alert, her steps light.

The tall, muscular boy was clearly the powerhouse. His arms alone looked strong enough to lift a boulder, and the faint heat rising from his body hinted at his element before she even asked.

Finally, there was the short, stocky boy who trailed slightly at the back. His robe was streaked with patches of dried mud, and the faint glow of brown‑orange mana around his hands marked him as an earth mage.

Their teamwork became clear when they stumbled into their next battle.

The sound came first, a sharp screech echoing from above. Moments later, three small, winged creatures dove from the ceiling, their leathery wings cutting through the air with unsettling speed.

The short mage reacted instantly, slamming his palms into the ground. Mana surged out of him, rippling through the stone beneath their feet. With a low rumble, jagged chunks of rock shot upward and hurtled toward the monsters, forcing them to scatter midair.

The tall boy and the brown‑haired girl raised their hands in unison. Fire flared, bright and hot, illuminating the chamber in bursts of red as the flames twisted into arrows and spears that struck the monsters mid‑flight. The creatures shrieked in pain and dropped to the floor, writhing before going still.

The healer, who had been quiet until then, stayed back, chanting softly as he reinforced their bodies with protective light. His spells were subtle, weaving strength into their limbs and sharpening their focus.

Yuna stepped forward, joining in seamlessly. Mana swirled around her fingers before slicing outward in thin, sharp arcs of greenish light. Her wind slashes cut clean through the remaining monsters, shredding their wings before they even touched the ground.

The bats fell one after another, their bodies hitting the cave floor with dull thuds.

The group exchanged brief nods of acknowledgment, silently impressed at how smoothly the fight had gone. With Yuna's additional strength, their numbers worked to their advantage, and for a while, progress through the dungeon felt almost easy.

The feeling didn't last.

The first sign that something was wrong was the low rumble that vibrated faintly beneath their feet. It was distant at first, soft enough to mistake for random cave movement. But then it grew louder. Closer.

A harsh, guttural roar ripped through the silence, bouncing off the walls with so much force it felt like the air itself shuddered.

Everyone froze for a heartbeat, and then the cave began to shake violently, small pebbles raining from above.

From the shadows at the far end of the chamber, massive shapes emerged. Three. No, four. Their heavy footsteps thudded like drums, each one accompanied by a low growl that reverberated deep in Yuna's chest.

"Sasquatches," the jet‑haired boy muttered, his grip tightening around his staff.

The monsters stepped fully into view, their hulking bodies filling nearly half the cavern. Muscles coiled beneath thick, matted fur, and their sharp teeth gleamed faintly in the dim light.

The team didn't hesitate. They moved on instinct, each member launching their spells toward the monsters.

The earth mage brought more rocks crashing down from above, but the sasquatches barely flinched, shrugging off the hits as if the stones were nothing more than pebbles

The fire mages attacked next, twin streams of flame curling toward the nearest beast. It roared in irritation, swinging its massive arm and scattering the fire in bursts of heat that licked harmlessly against the walls.

Yuna summoned gust after gust of slicing wind, her mana flowing as fast as she could control it, but even as her blades left shallow cuts across their arms and chests, the monsters barely slowed.

It became clear within minutes that this fight was nothing like the previous ones.

The sasquatches were fast for their size, faster than anyone had expected, and their strength was overwhelming. One wrong step, one delayed dodge, and any of them could be crushed.

And to make matters worse, the team had an additional burden they normally wouldn't have.

Yuna.

It wasn't her fault, not entirely. She fought as hard as she could, but the team couldn't risk letting the princess get injured.

Every time she stepped too far forward, someone had to cover her, pull her back, or shield her from a blow. It disrupted their rhythm, breaking apart their otherwise clean teamwork.

Even with her help, the scales tipped quickly in the monsters' favor.

Minutes passed, but it felt like hours, each strike of claws against stone a reminder of how quickly they were tiring.

Yuna's breathing came heavier now, her shoulders aching with every swing of her staff. Her wind spells lost some of their edge, her focus wavering as fatigue crept in.

When one of the sasquatches lunged for her, she stepped back, too slow to avoid its grasp. A massive hand slammed against the wall just beside her, closing her in, blocking her exit.

Her back hit the rough stone, and for the first time since entering the dungeon, Yuna felt a sharp spike of panic shoot through her chest.

"Yuna!" one of the fire mages shouted, but he was too far away to reach her in time.

The monster's arm swung toward her, trapping her fully.

"Help!" she screamed, the sound ripping out of her throat louder than she expected, echoing down every tunnel of the dungeon.

XXX

Far away, deeper into another section of the cave, Jae and his team were walking when the sound reached them, distant but unmistakable.

A scream.
