Farmboy becomes King with the Lust System

Chapter 15: Dragon fang

Jae stepped into the cave, the damp air hitting him like a wet slap, thick with the stench of mold and something rancid, like rotting meat.

The darkness swallowed him whole, the jagged stone walls closing in as his boots crunched on loose gravel.

His heart thumped hard, a mix of adrenaline and annoyance pumping through him. This damn cave again. The Lust System's glowing red dot had dragged him back to this hellhole, and he was already over it.

Spiders. Always spiders. He was getting damn good at slicing them up, but the monotony was starting to grate. Couldn't the system throw a wolf or a demon at him for once?

He shook his head, pushing the thought away as the system chimed, its green panels flaring to life in the dark like a cheap arcade game.

<New Quest: Kill 16 Spiders>

<Reward: Item – Dragon Fang>

"Sixteen?" Jae muttered, his voice echoing faintly off the damp walls. "You've got to be kidding me." Sixteen spiders was a hell of a jump from the six he'd barely survived last time.

His stomach twisted, but he checked the item's description anyway, hoping for something worth the hassle.

The system's description of the item was frustratingly vague: Dragon Fang – Fang of the Great Black Dragon. That was it. No stats, no powers, just some cryptic nonsense. "Real helpful," he scoffed, swiping the panel away with a flick of his wrist.

Whatever. He'd deal with the spiders first and figure out the fang later. He wasn't here to play scholar, he was here to kill.

Jae cracked his knuckles, his higher Strength and Speed stats making his muscles feel tighter, more alive. He summoned his Mana Blade, the glowing blue edge humming to life in his hand, casting a faint light that danced across the cave's uneven floor.

The first spider scuttled out from a shadowy crevice, its hairy legs scraping the stone like nails on a chalkboard. Jae didn't hesitate.

He'd learned their weak spot, the soft underbelly, and he was done messing around.

With a quick leap, his boosted Strength propelling him higher than before, he slashed downward, the blade slicing clean through the spider's gut. It screeched, a gut-wrenching sound, and collapsed in a twitching heap, green ichor oozing onto the floor. "One down," he muttered, wiping sweat from his brow.

Another spider lunged from the side, its fangs gleaming with venom. Jae spun, his Speed stat kicking in, and drove the Mana Blade into its underbelly before it could strike. The creature crumpled, legs curling like burned paper.

He was faster now, stronger, his movements sharp and precise. The system was turning him into a machine, and he couldn't deny it felt good. But then a faint rustle behind him made his skin prickle. Another spider, sneaking up like a coward.

Jae grinned, a rush of confidence hitting him. "Nice try," he whispered, activating Phantom Step. In a blink, he vanished, reappearing behind the spider so fast it didn't have time to react.

He plunged the Mana Blade into its back, the glowing edge piercing straight through to its underbelly. The spider let out a dying screech and flopped to the ground.

<System Notification: 3/16 Spiders Defeated>

Two more spiders charged from the shadows, their legs a blur of motion. Jae's heart raced, but his hands were steady. He slashed left, then right, his Mana Blade a glowing arc that carved through their underbellies like butter.

They dropped, lifeless, their bodies thudding against the stone. "Five," he panted, his breath hot in the damp air.

But the system wasn't giving him a break. Two more spiders skittered forward, their eyes glinting like black beads. Jae lunged, aiming for their weak spots, but a sharp beep from the system stopped him cold.

<Mana Blade Timeout: 15-minute Cooldown>.

"Seriously?" he hissed, his grip tightening on the now-fading blade. The spiders didn't wait, their legs scraping closer. Jae cursed under his breath and switched tactics, activating Gravity Touch.

He thrust his hand forward, a wave of force slamming into the first spider, pinning it to the ground like an invisible hammer. Its legs buckled, and he rushed in, stomping its underbelly with a sickening crunch.

The second spider lunged, but Jae hit it with another Gravity Touch, dropping it flat. He finished it with a quick stomp, his boot slick with ichor. "Seven," he growled, wiping his shoe on the cave floor.

Two more spiders crawled out, their hisses filling the air like a warning. Jae didn't flinch. Gravity Touch was still active, and he used it to slam them both down, their bodies crumpling under the invisible weight.

He stepped over their twitching corpses, his chest heaving. "Nine."

But then the system beeped again.

<Gravity Touch Timeout: 10-minute Cooldown. >

Jae's jaw clenched. "You're screwing me over," he muttered, his eyes darting around the cave. Three more spiders emerged, crowding him in a tight semicircle, their legs clicking like a death knell.

Jae was ready, though. He'd learned from last time, never get caught unprepared. He reached into his inventory, grabbing the Smoke Seed. With a flick of his wrist, he crushed it, and a thick cloud of gray smoke exploded around him, choking the air with a bitter, acrid stench.

The spiders froze, their beady eyes blinded by the haze. Jae didn't waste a second. He pulled his small dagger and darted forward, stabbing the first spider's head with a quick, brutal thrust.

It collapsed. He spun, jamming the dagger into the second spider's skull, then the third, his movements a blur of desperation and precision. The smoke cleared, and three more bodies littered the floor. "Twelve," he panted, his arm trembling from the effort.

The Mana Blade's cooldown finally ended, the glowing edge flaring back to life. Jae grinned, sweat stinging his eyes. The last four spiders didn't stand a chance. He leaped, slashed, and stabbed, targeting their underbellies with ruthless efficiency.

Each kill was faster than the last, his higher stats making him a whirlwind of death. When the final spider fell, its screech fading into silence, Jae dropped to his knees, his chest heaving like he'd run a marathon.

The cave spun around him, the air thick with the reek of spider guts and his own sweat.

<System Notification: 16/16 – Quest Complete>

<Reward: Item – Dragon Fang>

The system's panel flared, and a jagged, black fang materialized in his hand, its surface smooth and cold. Jae checked the description, his breath still ragged. Dragon Fang: Fang of the Great Black Dragon. Inflicts temporary paralysis on an opponent.

One-time use. He scoffed, tossing it into his inventory with a flick of his wrist. "All that for a one-shot deal? Cheap bastard," he muttered, his voice hoarse.

The cave's damp walls seemed to mock him, but he was too tired to care. He'd earned his prize, and he wasn't dead. That was enough for now.
