Fantasy: I Can Control the Script of My Life

Chapter 237: Chapter 238: Return to Weiyang Mountain

The best choice now was naturally to entrust this important task to Chen Yu. Although she hadn't received much attention at the Flowing Cloud Sect these past few days, Chen Yu's own talent was quite good. Coupled with occasional guidance from Qin Xiyan, her cultivation had improved considerably. Thus, Lin Yun decided to have Chen Yu deliver the message back for him.

First, he personally penned a letter. Then, he condensed his sword Qi and sealed it within a jade slip. This was also a means for Chen Yu to protect herself. If she were to encounter danger, she could use it to grievously wound her opponent and escape.

After finishing all this, Lin Yun finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Chen Yu, this is no small matter. Although the situation is urgent, you need not be overly anxious. Just deliver this message back to the sect on time. Leave the rest to me. Remember, be careful on the road. Do not trust others easily."

Lin Yun repeated his instructions for a long time. Chen Yu had, after all, never done something like this before. Even he was a little worried about the young woman.

"Don't worry, Big Brother Lin," Chen Yu said, her voice firm. "I am not the child I once was. I know my priorities." She glanced at the still-unconscious Qin Xiyan, said no more, and turned to leave. She knew that with Lin Yun's character, he would absolutely not let any harm come to Qin Xiyan.

Watching Chen Yu's departing figure, Lin Yun whispered, "I hope she has a safe journey."

The Chongqing Bird grumbled, "Relax. A great chaos is coming. Every sect is busy thinking about how to look out for themselves. Who has the time to be wandering around outside?"

Because of the Crimson Ghost Sect, the cultivation world could no longer remain as peaceful as it once was. And in these chaotic times, many people were walking down a road to ruin.

Lin Yun remained silent, not knowing how to respond.

After confirming that Qin Xiyan was in no immediate danger, Lin Yun lifted her onto his back. They were in a cave that, from the looks of it, wasn't too far from Weiyang Mountain. After regulating his energy for a while, Lin Yun had managed to recover a good deal of his stamina. Though he was still injured, it no longer hindered him.

Finding his direction, he rode his sword and gave chase.

Xiao Bai, seemingly bored of being cooped up, came out and sat on Lin Yun's shoulder. Man and beast, they soared through the air.

After several hours, Lin Yun finally saw the mysterious Weiyang Mountain. The last time he had come here, he had nearly lost his life. But returning now, he had a different feeling.

The entire mountain was shrouded in a hazy mist. A vast expanse of white surrounded them, obscuring the scenery. As Lin Yun drew closer, he felt a peculiar force, like a pair of great hands grabbing at his ankles. It seemed that flying here would be quite difficult.

Lin Yun's injuries had not yet fully healed, so he could only proceed on foot.

The Dragon-Seeking Abyss? The name alone suggested it was no ordinary place.

While he was in the air, Lin Yun had roughly locked onto a location—what was originally a volcanic crater on Weiyang Mountain. It was, however, a dead volcano. He figured the so-called Dragon-Seeking Abyss was most likely there.

Finding his direction, Lin Yun moved forward, carrying Qin Xiyan on his back. If it were anyone else's physique, they would likely have collapsed by now.

While Lin Yun was heading to Weiyang Mountain, the Flowing Cloud Sect was in a state of utter chaos.

Gu Xiande and his faction were either dead or grievously wounded. The remaining members were unable to maintain the sect's operations. Furthermore, in the recent battle, the Beast Taming Sect had shown its divine might. Now, the political winds of the entire Daye Dynasty's cultivation world had changed.

Although Shen Miaokong had not said what would become of the Flowing Cloud Sect, any discerning person understood that his appearance signified that the Beast Taming Sect would no longer remain reclusive as they had been before.

But for Hong Xiu, these matters were not the worst of it. What gave her a true headache was Shangguan Wan's departure. Though she had never paid much attention to Shangguan Wan on a normal day, she never imagined that her niece, who had been at the sect for so many years, would leave just like that. And her attitude had been so resolute; she hadn't even bothered to say much to her before leaving.

In the Great Hall of Green Dawn Peak, Hong Xiu's face was ashen with rage. She slammed her palm down, and the sandalwood table before her instantly disintegrated into fine powder.

"Bastards!" she cursed loudly. "All of them are just ungrateful, white-eyed wolves that can't be tamed!"

She then rose and went to her personal grotto. She had expected to find Qin Xiyan there, but what she found instead left her utterly shocked. Even Qin Xiyan was gone.

Unlike Shangguan Wan, however, Qin Xiyan had left a letter. The contents were simple. She could not agree with Hong Xiu's actions. She was very grateful for all the care Hong Xiu had shown her over the years; without the ancestor's help, she might not have been able to achieve her own breakthroughs.

However, those with different paths cannot make plans together. Her and Hong Xiu's principles were too far apart, and she could not tolerate the disdain Hong Xiu held for Lin Yun. It was for this reason that she had left the Flowing Cloud Sect in anger.

If Shangguan Wan's departure was a blow to Hong Xiu, then Qin Xiyan's was the last straw that broke the camel's back.

All this time, Hong Xiu had believed that it was she who had helped Lin Yun change his destiny. Otherwise, how could a brat of low status whose words carried no weight possibly have gained a foothold in their Flowing Cloud Sect? But now, even Qin Xiyan had left.

This made Hong Xiu begin to doubt whether everything she had done was right.

Could it be… that I was truly wrong?

Only now did she remember that Qin Xiyan herself was the opportunity Lin Yun had brought her. And it was because of Qin Xiyan that her own cultivation had seen a glimmer of a possible breakthrough. She had thought her days ahead would be smooth sailing, but only now did she understand that she had thought things were too simple.

Unfortunately, there was no medicine for regret in this world. Hong Xiu could no longer undo what had been done.

In this one battle, the Flowing Cloud Sect had lost too many elites. On top of that, a portion of the sect's members had also chosen to leave. The once-mighty Flowing Cloud Sect was now like a candle flickering in the wind. No matter how much Hong Xiu regretted it, it was too late.

Everything was because of what they had done to Lin Yun. And she had originally had the power to stop it. Shangguan Wan had even warned her about it multiple times. But alas, in her pride and arrogance, Hong Xiu had believed that a mere junior was not worthy of her consideration. And so, this series of tragedies had come to pass.

To this day, no matter how much she repented, she could only eat her own bitter fruit.

"The Flowing Cloud Sect… is completely finished!"

Suddenly, a voice echoed from a dark corner of the room.

"Finished? Heh heh… this is only the beginning."

A short man had appeared in Hong Xiu's grotto, though she knew not when.
