**Chapter 36: Kyushu Mountain and Sea Division**

Jiangnan No. 1 High School, Practice Room

Su Chen stared at the alchemy results on his phone, momentarily unable to believe his eyes.

He had attempted to refine an elixir five times and succeeded in four of them.

Could a novice like him achieve such an astounding success rate in alchemy?

"Except for the first failure, which was due to attempting to refine the pill purely based on data, the success rate of the remaining attempts has remained steady at 80%. I've managed to harvest 35 Qi Condensing Pills."

"Such a success rate… it's probably better than what most veteran alchemists could achieve."

"It seems that the benefits of cultivating immortality are far greater than I had imagined. Whether it's the unlimited resurrection in dungeons for honing combat skills or this data-driven alchemy technique that boosts success rates—these are unimaginable advantages."

Cultivation of immortality… just how many secrets are you hiding?

Su Chen looked thoughtfully at the game on his phone. Having already found Qingxuan Wood—an item previously exclusive to the game—in reality, he began to wonder:

'If objects from the game can appear in the real world, will the same happen with people? One day, could I meet someone from the game in real life?'

If that day ever came, perhaps he would finally understand the connection between the game world and reality.

After pondering for a while, he shifted his focus back to the present.

"The weekend is only two days away. It's about time I repay Xiao Ye for helping me during the mock exam by treating her to dinner."

"Before that, I'll spend more time on alchemy to solidify my image as a genius alchemist. Maybe I'll sell some Qi Condensing Pills in the game to exchange for Spirit Stones."

"With my current success rate, even at a mere 'proficient' level in alchemy, I can guarantee consistent results. Alchemy is practically a surefire business."

"And once I gain enough experience, I'll seek out the elders of Danyang Peak to trade for a thousand-year-old spiritual flower. With it, I can finally cultivate the Green Lotus Pupil to bloom."

"If I can master the Green Lotus Pupil at its extreme state, I'll have completed two of the five foundational realms for immortal ascension—bringing me closer to the fabled Heavenly Dao foundation-building."

The plan was clear, the goal defined, and the future bright. For the first time, Su Chen felt brimming with hope and energy. His future, vivid and tangible, seemed just within reach.

As Su Chen busied himself refining elixirs and preparing for his foundation, the seemingly peaceful Jiangnan City simmered with undercurrents.

Eastern Jiangnan City, Dilapidated Residential Building

The building had been completely cordoned off by the Jiangnan City Law Enforcement Team. No one was allowed near the premises.

Displaced residents gathered outside the barriers, buzzing with frightened whispers. Some looked pale and visibly shaken, as though they'd just witnessed something horrifying.

A car pulled up outside the cordon, and a man stepped out. It was Lu Xiaoye's father, Lu Chengjun. As he approached, a member of the law enforcement team hurried to greet him.

"Captain Lu, you're finally here…"

"What's the situation on-site?"

"It's complicated. This case is highly unusual and has already alarmed the Kyushu Mountain and Sea Division."

"The Mountain and Sea Division?" Lu Chengjun's expression turned grave.

Unlike the law enforcement team that handled domestic disturbances, the Kyushu Mountain and Sea Division consisted of hardened cultivators—fighters forged through seas of blood and fire. Their intervention was reserved for two scenarios:

The first was demon appearances wreaking havoc in the Kyushu Immortal Alliance. Due to the demons' unique nature, even cultivators of the same level struggled to subdue them, necessitating the Division's elite.

The second involved evil cultivators (heretics) harming ordinary citizens—a crime the Kyushu Immortal Alliance deemed intolerable.

Unlike other regions where mortals were considered expendable, the Kyushu Immortal Alliance believed that the well-being of ordinary people strengthened humanity's collective faith. Protecting mortals was akin to safeguarding their own humanity.

That the Mountain and Sea Division had been called in indicated the case was far from ordinary.

Lu Chengjun's expression hardened as he approached the crime scene. What he saw chilled him to the core: a family of three lay brutally murdered in their living room.

"Can someone give me the details?" he demanded, his tone grim.

A law enforcement officer stepped forward. "Captain Lu, we've identified the victims. They were a family of three: two factory workers and their son, Wang Hao, a third-year student at Jiangnan No. 3 High School."

"Both parents were known for their kindness and had no known disputes with anyone. Wang Hao, however, had a top-grade spiritual root and was already at the fifth level of Qi Gathering—a prodigious talent for cultivation."

"From our investigation, it appears the family was eating when the murderer broke in, killing them swiftly. The perpetrator then dug out Wang Hao's spiritual root."

"This matches the pattern of previous cases. We suspect—"

Before the officer could finish, a voice interrupted from the doorway.

"The Five Spirits Blood Pill Technique," the newcomer said coldly. "A vile practice of the Black Lotus Sect. It uses human blood and organs as ingredients for elixirs."

Everyone turned to see a petite, white-haired girl entering the room. Standing on her shoulder was a bizarre bird with three heads, three wings, six legs, and jet-black feathers. Its unsettling aura made those present instinctively step back.

Only Lu Chengjun, a seasoned Foundation Establishment cultivator, managed to remain composed.

Chewing gum nonchalantly, the girl approached the bodies. "The Black Lotus Sect—using lives for alchemy. These beasts are responsible."

She then held up a token, its engraved insignia confirming her identity. "Bai Ling, Kyushu Mountain and Sea Division. This matter is ours now. Your team is dismissed."

The law enforcement officers exchanged uncertain glances before looking to Lu Chengjun.

He hesitated but ultimately deferred. The girl's cultivation—at the fourth level of Foundation Establishment—spoke for itself.

"Very well," he said.

Bai Ling turned to the officers. "You're too weak to handle this. Leave now before you get in the way or worse—killed."

Her bluntness drew irritation from the younger team members, but they were silenced by the suffocating aura she unleashed.

"My name is Bai Ling," she reiterated. "Freshman at Qinghe Dao Academy, Kyushu Mountain and Sea Division operative. I order you to leave. I'll handle this."
