Chapter 33: **Chapter 33: Mock Exam (End)**

**Chapter 33: Mock Exam (End)**

The second phase of the mock exam marked the final day.

"Strange. My watch clearly shows more than 20 candidates remaining, but I haven't encountered anyone except a few students from the Earth Dao class on the first day. Where did the others go?"

"And… why are four of the top ten in the rankings always together?"

"Don't they worry about being ambushed and eliminated early?"

Chen Li stared at the red dots displayed on his watch's map, his face full of confusion.

Each red dot represented a top-ten student based on their points. Yet, four of the top ten remained clustered in one spot for an unusually long time.

This baffled Chen Li.

Logically, most of the candidates who ranked in the top ten were typically proud elites from the Heaven Dao class. In such a competitive scenario, it would be surprising if two such students cooperated, let alone four. Conflict was far more likely.

Chen Li struggled to make sense of the situation.

There was something else he found both incomprehensible and infuriating.

"No way… What ability does Su Chen have to make it into the top ten rankings?"

"Cheating. This guy must be cheating!"

Failure is bitter, but seeing a rival succeed is even more unbearable.

Chen Li considered himself average among the 21 members of the Heaven Dao class. But, no matter what, he believed he was far superior to Su Chen from the Human Dao class.

Even if Chen Li couldn't make the top ten, how could Su Chen possibly manage it?

"I refuse to believe Su Chen made it into the top ten based on his own strength. He must've relied on classmate Lu's help to survive until now."

"But this is the final day of the mock exam. No one will hold back anymore. I doubt classmate Lu can protect him now."

"Su Chen, you'd better hope I don't catch you. Or else, you're in for it."

The thought of beating Su Chen to a pulp in front of Lu Xiaoye brought a sinister grin to Chen Li's face. He couldn't help but let out a laugh resembling that of the Joker in Gotham City.

Meanwhile, elsewhere:

"Achoo!"

"What's wrong, Xiao Chen? Do you have a cold?"

"It's nothing. Maybe someone's talking about me behind my back."

"By the way, isn't today the last day of the mock exam?"

Lu Xiaoye nodded and glanced at the watch on her right hand.

"Yeah, there are about 20 hours left before the deadline. Xiao Chen, how long are you planning to keep having them help you?"

She gestured toward seven classmates nearby, who were helping Su Chen chop down trees. Then, lowering her voice, she leaned closer and made a sly throat-slitting gesture.

Her fierce eyes and mischievous fangs gave her the look of a villain straight out of a movie—the type who's eliminated after completing their wicked plans.

Su Chen smiled faintly and shook his head at her suggestion.

"There's no need for that. Everyone should rely on their own abilities in the end."

"It's just an exam, after all. No point in doing anything that will make people hate you."

"Fine, but be careful. I can tell they're not happy with you," Lu Xiaoye warned.

Of course, they weren't happy. Su Chen was fully aware of what he'd been doing over the past two days.

Other than defeating Bian Shouyi and a couple of students from the Earth Dao class, most of Su Chen's accomplishments had been made possible by Lu Xiaoye, the top-ranked student, and Bian Shouyi, who was ranked sixth.

To the classmates around him, Su Chen seemed like a shameless freeloader who depended on women to succeed.

True skill? They refused to believe that being a "gigolo" was an ability!

Still, there wasn't much they could do. None of them could defeat Lu Xiaoye or Bian Shouyi, so they had no choice but to swallow their resentment and continue working as Su Chen's "lumberjacks."

The situation in the mock exam had become clear by now.

Out of 21 participants in the Heaven Dao class, only 20 had advanced to the second phase after the first day. By the end of the second day, eight more were eliminated, leaving just 12 contestants.

Among these, 22 people—including Su Chen—were still active on the third day. Su Chen, along with seven others, had formed a loose group.

Following his strategy of "low-key progress and steady improvement," Su Chen had quietly secured both his eighth-place ranking and a sizable amount of Qingxuan wood in his storage bag.

Though he doubted he could maintain his current position by the end, his efforts would still earn him significant credits.

Satisfied with his performance, Su Chen stood up from a tree stump and gazed at the sun, now high in the sky.

"It's about time to head out."

Just as he prepared to use his watch to exit the Wuquan Mountain Secret Realm, someone he didn't want to see appeared.

"Su Chen, just as I thought. You've only made it this far because of Lu Xiaoye's help," sneered Chen Li.

"Other students have fought so hard to get to this point. Don't you feel ashamed?"

Su Chen blinked, momentarily speechless.

Lu Xiaoye had wandered off earlier, leaving Su Chen isolated. Chen Li, having waited nearby for this exact opportunity, now made his move.

A perfect ambush.

Su Chen sighed inwardly.

Why do some people insist on playing the clown?

Chen Li smirked triumphantly. But before he could continue, Su Chen suddenly smiled.

"You know what? You're absolutely right. So… goodbye."

Without hesitation, Su Chen pressed the exit button on his watch.

A glowing teleportation array lit up beneath his feet, and in an instant, he disappeared from the Secret Realm.

Chen Li was left standing there, windblown and stunned.

What just happened?

He had expected a dramatic confrontation. Instead, Su Chen's abrupt exit left him feeling like he'd been punching air.

In the silence of the woods, Chen Li threw his head back and roared at the sky.

"SU CHEN!!!"

Outside the Secret Realm, Su Chen stepped into the sunlight and murmured to himself:

"The mock exam is over. School should be quiet for the next three months."

"Time to focus on cultivation. I need to strengthen my foundation in the Heavenly Dao, hone my alchemy skills, develop my magical powers, and prepare for the future. There's a lot to do."
