Chapter 36: Powder Gangers go BOOM!
Six, Raul, and Rebecca prepped their gear as Boone climbed up the cliffs near the NCR Correctional Facility, taking his position for the coming assault. ED-E hovered next to Boone, its sensors scanning the area and relaying information about Powder Ganger locations back to the team.
Rebecca, her chibi side showing in full force, could barely contain her excitement.
"Preem! So we get to shoot everything except some old guy in a cowboy hat, right? This is going to be so fun!"
Six gave her a stern look.
"Remember, Rebecca, no killing Meyers. If I find a bullet hole in him, we're going to have a serious talk."
Rebecca saluted mockingly, a playful grin on her face.
"Yes, sir! I'll try not to get too trigger-happy."
Raul chuckled as he adjusted his revolver.
"Don't worry, boss. I'll keep her in check—at least as much as anyone can keep her in check."
Boone's voice came in over the radio.
"I'm in position. I see three snipers in the towers and a couple of patrols near the entrance. ED-E's marking them now."
Six pulled up the data on his Pip-Boy, the locations of the marked Powder Gangers lighting up on his map.
"Good. We're about to head in. Take out the tower snipers as soon as we make our move."
The Battle Bus came to a halt, hidden behind a rocky outcrop near the prison. Six, Rebecca, and Raul disembarked, each checking their weapons one last time. The plan was straightforward: Boone would provide covering fire from his vantage point, taking out the snipers and giving the team an opening to breach the facility.
"Alright, let's move. Rebecca, you take the left. Raul, you're with Becca' on the left. We hit them hard, but watch your fire when we get near Meyers."
Six reminded them one last time before leading the way.
Rebecca loaded her M249 light machine gun, practically vibrating with anticipation.
"Got it. Just point me in the direction of the gonks I can shoot."
As they approached the facility, Boone's rifle cracked from the cliff above. The first shot rang out, and one of the Powder Ganger snipers in the tower dropped instantly. Boone quickly adjusted his scope, scanning for the next target. His second shot came just as clean, dropping another guard before anyone inside the prison realized what was happening.
The third sniper, noticing his comrades fall, tried to radio for help, but it was too late. Boone's third shot took him out before he could raise the alarm.
"Snipers are down."
Boone's calm voice came through the radio.
Six nodded, signaling Raul and Rebecca to move in.
"Let's do this."
The team moved swiftly toward the entrance, where a few guards were starting to panic. They'd heard the gunfire from the towers but hadn't seen where it was coming from. Six, taking advantage of the confusion, fired his Desert Eagle, dropping the nearest Powder Ganger with a well-placed shot to the chest.
Raul, ever the steady marksman, picked off another guard who was fumbling with his dynamite.
"Looks like these guys were expecting a bigger fight."
Raul muttered, his voice tinged with amusement.
Rebecca, on the other hand, was already in full action mode. She rushed forward, her light machine gun blazing as she mowed down two more Powder Gangers who tried to rush her with melee weapons.
"Woohoo! This is what I'm talking about!"
She shouted, her excitement echoing across the entrance.
Six smirked.
"Keep it together, Rebecca. We still have to find Meyers."
As they breached the prison gates, the inside erupted into chaos. Powder Gangers scrambled, some trying to arm themselves, others running for cover. Boone, still providing overwatch from his sniper nest, picked off any targets who dared to step into the open and tried to help in the Visitors Center.
Six led the charge into the Visitors Center, his Desert Eagle roaring as he dropped another two gangers with precise shots. Raul followed close behind, his revolver taking out one more guard trying to take cover behind some crates.
Rebecca had found her own fun, flanking around the side of the Visitors Center and surprising a group of gangers trying to form a defensive line. She giggled as she unloaded her light machine gun, taking out two of them in quick succession. The rest scattered, trying to escape her onslaught.
Amid the chaos, Six spotted Meyers. The old man was sitting on the ground near the edge of the courtyard, wearing a tattered cowboy hat that matched Six's own. Just like Six predicted, he wasn't fighting back. Meyers looked up as Six approached, recognizing the newcomer immediately.
"Well, I'll be damned. You're not with these idiots, are you?"
Meyers said, his voice gruff but calm.
Six holstered his Desert Eagle and extended a hand to Meyers.
"Nope. I'm here to help clean this place up. I need you, Meyers. Heard you used to be a sheriff, and I've got plans for you once this is over."
Meyers raised an eyebrow but took Six's hand and stood up.
"Sheriff, huh? Haven't heard that title in a long time. But if you're offering me a way out of this mess, I'll listen."
"Good."
Six replied, turning back to the ongoing firefight.
"Stay low and don't get in the way. We'll handle the rest."
With Meyers safe, Six regrouped with Raul and Rebecca, who had just finished clearing out the last of the Powder Gangers. The Visitors Center was now theirs.
"That was... fun."
Rebecca said, breathing heavily, her eyes still shining with excitement.
Six glanced around at the bodies littering the ground.
"Yeah, fun. But more importantly, we've taken this place back. Let's gather up whatever useful gear we can find, then we'll figure out what to do with it."
Looking at all the dead bodies all around him Meyers mentioned.
"Your girl is something, youngster."
Boone's voice crackled over the radio.
"I've cleared the Prison Yard from my spot. No more snipers or stragglers in the yard. Good work down there guys."
Six grinned.
"Thanks, Boone. Let's meet back at the Visitors Center. We've got the NCR CF Administration to deal with before we head out."
With the NCR Correctional Facility Visitors Center and Prison Yard now under their control, Six had gained another foothold in the prison, all while making sure that Meyers, his future sheriff, stayed alive.
Stepping out into the Prison Yard, he scanned the area but couldn't find a single soul. After waiting in the Visitors Center for a few minutes, Boone finally came into view. Rebecca yelled at Boone as if she were a construction worker catcalling a passerby.
"Damn dimples, you've wiped out everyone outside!"
"Oh, you want to turn this into a competition now?"
Said Six as he sprinted toward the Administration building, leaving behind the group too exhausted to follow.
Igniting three sticks of dynamite, he kicked in the building's door and hurled the explosives inside, causing an explosion. He noticed the inner gates within the building were destroyed, eliminating any possibility of being locked out again.
Throwing out another stick of dynamite at the survivors Six shot it with his Desert Eagles using VATS. He wiped out the stragglers and maimed the survivors. He then proceeded to put all of them down, quickly shooting and reloading, than it was humanly possible. Until the drugged-up cavalry came.
When multiple Powder Gangers came down the stairs, Six threw two sticks of dynamite at them. Entering Vats he shot at the sticks of dynamite igniting them. Causing an explosion and obliterating the group, but by some miracle, they weren't all blown to pieces. He swiftly fixed that problem moments later.
"Did we get him"
Hearing noises on the upper floor, Six threw more sticks of dynamite, in which case the powder gangers opened fire Igniting the sticks, and blowing the sticks and themselves up. Ending all signs of life by the stairs and the second-floor entrance. Coming out of the smoke he dashed forward gunning down everyone and threw sticks of dynamite in each room.
"Get it out, get it out."
Promptly putting the Powder Gangers trying to hide out of their misery and reloading his guns. Six threw another stick of dynamite into the director's office, and Eddie and his guards threw themselves to the ground, to their surprise nothing happened. Except that Six stepped in guns blazing killing everyone inside.
"You guys might be the dumbest people that I've known. you piled up all the dynamite into one room, in which one spark can cause one stick of dynamite to detonate causing a chain reaction leaving none of you alive. God, you guys are geniuses."
As he walked outside the administrator's building, he met up with Rebecca and the others.
"So, I killed more than you guys, what do I win as a prize?"
Six asked them with a wide grin.
"ME!"
Only for Rebecca to jump on top of him and start making out with him.
