Fairy Tail: Metal and Threads

Chapter 697: The Grand Magic Games’ Final Event, the Grand Magic Game; Part 4

Earth Land, Ishgar, Kingdom of Fiore, Crocus.

July 6, x790.

While the other fights were going on, Elicia was facing two opponents of her own. Namely, Karen Lilica and Sorano Agria of Blue Pegasus. And right now, it looked as though she were at the advantage. Especially since she had one of Sorano's angels tied up in her threads. And based on what she knew about Sorano's magic, if the angel that she summoned was destroyed, she would feel severe pain.

'[Ring Magic: Thunder Storm]." Karen chanted as she held up her ring clad hands towards Elicia.

With Karen's chant, two of the rings on Karen's fingers, magic items she used to channel her magic power, lit up with yellow and green light. A moment later, one of the rings sent forth a cyclone while the other shot out a lightning bolt.

However, before the two spells could travel too far, they combined. As a result, instead of a cyclone and a thunder bolt to dodge, Elicia had to evade a spinning column of [Lightning Magic]. Yet, that was not too much for her. And she proved it by shooting a thread at a nearby building before pulling herself towards it. At the same time, she also drew her other hand back, intending to tighten the threads wrapped around the angel to the point it was sliced into ribbons.

Yet, before the threads could tighten, the column of [Lightning Magic] changed direction. Instead of passing through the spot where Elicia once sat on top of the captured angel's shoulder, it cut through the thread connecting the angel to Elicia.

"Oh, did little Karen learn how to play with others" Elicia asked in a sing-song tone. "I'm so proud of you."

Hearing the tone in which Elicia was speaking to her, Karen could not help but blush. To her, the high-pitched, sing-song tone Elicia used sounded as if she were speaking to a pet. And was that not what Karen had been wishing for, to become Elicia's pet, ever since she punished her for lying and ruining one of her best pieces nine years ago?

"Karen! Snap out of it!" Sorano shouted as she commanded her angel to remove the, now, loosened threads.

Immediately, Karen shook her head. Then, she looked at Elicia with a solemn expression.

"I must admit, that was pretty cunning, Elicia." Karen said, the blush till present on her face. "To think you would use the exact thing that I wanted to make me lower my guard. I would expect nothing less of you."

Hanging from the side of the building she pulled herself towards to evade Karen's attack, Elicia could only stare at her awkwardly.

'Like I would ever pretend that I was going to take her as my pet.' Elicia thought to herself. 'I was just teasing her because she actually moved to help her teammate. Something I never actually thought was possible. Especially when that teammate is Sorano. I was even starting to think that there was some kind of yuri relationship starting between them. Probably shouldn't say that out loud, though. I get the feeling that Karen would try to kill me before killing herself if I did.'

"By the way, what in the world are you wearing, Elicia?" Sorano asked as her angel took up a position behind her.

Looking down at Sorano's question, Elicia could see that she was wearing a predominantly black and white body suit with pink accents and a hood. Though, she was not wearing the iconic mask that went along with it. Still, to anyone in the know, Elicia was wearing a recreation of a Marvel Heroine's, Ghost Spider's, costume.

"It's cute, isn't it?" Elicia asked in a cheerful tone with a smile on her face. "I made it from the remains of a wyvern Fonzie hunted a couple of years ago. I just never had the chance to wear it in public."

'Well, I think Tatsuo or James hunted it.' Elicia thought to herself. 'But they don't need to know that, right?'

"I'll admit, it is pretty cute." Sorano replied. "But it won't save you. In fact, it will be your downfall."

In response, Elicia only rolled her eyes at Sorano's dramatic statement, as she had sensed the second angel being summoned right above her.

In the next instant, Elicia kicked off the side of the building, just in time to avoid the fist of another burly angel. However, instead of creating distance, Elicia shot threads from her fingertips and wrapped them around the angel's wings before pulling herself close.

"I haven't done this in a while." Elicia said cheerfully. "But [Izuna Drop] for the win!"

With that, Elicia wrapped her arms around the bound angel's torso from behind. Then, while causing them to spin, she reoriented them so that they would slam head first into the street below.

"Oh, this isn't good." Sorano muttered as the [Hammer Angel] floating behind her flapped its wings and shot forward in an attempt to catch the two before they could hit the ground.

"Damn, I can't get a clear shot." Karen said while aiming her rings at Elicia. However, she held off on casting a spell because hitting the angel would more or less take Sorano out of the event.

*Boom!*

"Kya~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!" Sorano's soul shattering scream echoed throughout the area.

Unfortunately, there was nothing either Karen or Sorano could do to stop the inevitable. Meaning, Sorano's angel was defeated when it slammed head first into the ground with the added spin from Elicia's attack.

On top of that, the dust cloud that was kicked up obscured Karen's line of sight on Elicia. But that did not matter all that much to her at the moment.

"[Ring Magic: Meteor Impact]." Karen chanted as a pair of rings lit up once again.

In the next instant, several large stones levitated up from the street in front of Karen before a stream of [Fire Magic] was fired from one of the rings and engulfed the stones. Then, all the stones were fired in the direction of the dust cloud.

Luckily, or as lucky as a teammate being defeated could be, with Sorano's scream, Karen knew that the [Punching Angel] she summoned had been defeated and reverse summoned thanks to Sorano's scream a moment ago. So, she did not have to worry about friendly fire.

*Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!*

It took less than a second for the five stones that were levitated from the ground to slam into the dust cloud, dispersing it on impact. At the same time, Karen was able to see Elicia's body go flying from the point of impact before slamming into the ground and bouncing away.

"I'm sorry, Elicia." Karen uttered to herself in a sad tone. "But I have a duty to my guild. I'll make it up to you by letting you punish me later."

*Thud!*

While Karen was feeling bad for what she had to do to Elicia just a moment ago, the sound of a body falling to the ground right next to her snapped her out of her melancholy. She then looked to where the sound came from.

"What?" Karen exclaimed in confusion as she could see Sorano, now completely unconscious lying next to her. "I've never seen her lose consciousness after only one of her angels was defeated before."

"You should probably assess the situation more thoroughly before you start slipping into your own world, Karen~."

Hearing that familiar voice come from her other side, Karen's confused expression immediately turned serious.

"Damn [Camouflage Magic]." Karen muttered as she raised her guard. "I completely forgot about it. I haven't seen it in so long."

*Bang!*

Just as those words left Karen's lips, two things happened simultaneously. First, the Elicia in the distance faded out of existence. Second, Karen's legs were swept out from under her, and not in the good way.

Supporting herself with her hands on the ground, Elicia used both legs to sweep Karen's legs out from under her. In fact, she used so much force that Karen found herself lying parallel to the ground an instant after feeling the impact from Elicia's sweep.

Elicia then followed up by pushing off the ground and kicking Karen in the back, sending her up into the air. She then followed Karen into the air by jumping off the ground. And with a surprising show of acrobatics and flexibility, Elicia unleashed quite a few punches, kicks, elbow strikes, and knee strikes onto Karen while airborne.

On a side note, while Karen was ascending into the sky, Sorano was engulfed in particles of light as she was transported to the Domus Flau's infirmary.

*Bang!*

A few seconds later, Elicia ended her onslaught. Then, she kicked Karen towards the side of a building. Lastly, before Karen could either bounce off the side of the building, Elicia shot a web of sticky threads that stuck Karen to the side of the building like a fly caught in a spider's web.

A moment later, with sticky threads attached to her hands and feet, Elicia landed on the side of the building just above Karen's head.

"Well, I guess you can consider this a little reward for actually giving it your all against me in the Grand Magic Games, Karen." Elicia whispered, as she could see that Karen was losing consciousness.

To Elicia's surprise, Karen smiled brightly as if she could hear Elicia before she, too, was engulfed in particles of light and sent to the infirmary.

"Well, now that their gone, are you two next?" Elicia asked once Karen was no longer in the arena while looking in a certain direction.

"Oh, you bet we are." A female voice said as she stepped out from the corner of a building. "And after seeing your martial arts, I'm excited to fight you."

"Tifa, wouldn't it have been better if we attacked her while she was fighting instead?" A second female voice said in an exasperated tone.

"Don't worry about it, Aerith." Tifa replied nonchalantly. "After seeing a fight like that, anything less than fighting her head on would have been a disservice to myself."

As the two's conversation would suggest, the ones who were watching Elicia dismantle Karen and Sorano were Tifa Lockhart and Aerith Gainsborough of Final Fantasy.

"Oh, it's you girls." Elicia said with a friendly smile while waving at the two Final Fantasy wizards. "So, did you like the show? You know, I really tried pretty hard when I realized I had an audience."

"Of course I did!" Tifa said excitedly as she punched her gloves together. "So, let's get to it, too. I'm really looking forward to this."

"Does that mean you're going to fight me alone?" Elicia asked while tilting her head to the side. "I mean, there are two of you. And as you can see, I'm not against fighting an unfavorable match up."

"Nah... It will just be me fighting." Tifa replied. "Aerith is better suited for support anyway."

"I'm not letting you fight alone, Tifa." Aerith said sternly. "Even if I don't fight her directly, you'll have my support spells at all times."

"*Sigh* Fine." Tifa grumbled, really wanting to fight an unorthodox martial artist like Elicia on her own. "I know that when you talk like that, there's nothing I can do to change your mind. So, let's go. [Waterkick]."

*Slice!*

'Isn't that supposed to be one of Tifa's [Limit Breaks]?' Elicia thought to herself as she jumped out of the way of the compressed blade of water that was sent flying her way by Tifa's kick. 'But I noticed this back in the Battle Board event. She seems to be able to use it without delay. Has she mastered it to the point that it's just a regular spell at this point? If so, this could get interesting.'

*Scrape!* *Crash!* *Rumble!*

As Elicia landed on the side of another building, the building she had webbed Karen to moments ago was cleanly sliced through by Tifa's [Waterkick]. Then, the top part of the building slid off the rest of the building before falling to the street below, kicking up a billowing cloud of dust on impact.

*Cheer~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!*

Meanwhile, back in the rest of the Domus Flau, the crowd was cheering constantly at the images of the battles that were broadcast through the Lacrima-Vision screens.

{"This has been quite the opening set of battles, hasn't it, Yajima?"} Loli asked excitedly. {"To probably everyone in attendance's surprise, Jura was one of the first wizards to be taken down in the final event. And by a relatively unknown wizard, no less."}

{"Yes, but that just goes to show that you should never judge a book by its cover."] Yajima said while stroking his mustache. {"There are many hidden masters all over the world, let alone just Fiore."}

{"I suppose you're right, Yajima."} Loli replied with a nod. {"Still, I heard quite a few hearts break when Jura mercilessly took out young Vivi. I wouldn't be surprised if he received quiet a few angry letters from our female fanbase after the Games were over."}

{"Hehehe! That might just be true, Loli."} Yajima said while chuckling good naturedly. {"But before we talk about jura's troubles with women, let's talk about the other two fights that concluded not too long ago."}

{"Ah! Yes."} Loli replied, his energy reaching another level. {"and we can't talk about them without talking about Fairy Tail. In fact, had Jenny of Blue Pegasus not stepped in, Elicia and Marin would have both taken down two opponents each in their fights."}

{"I have to agree."} Yajima added with a nod. {"Although Yuka was doing well in an attempt to protect himself, it was clear that Marin would have broken his defenses eventually. As for Elicia, I think I can say that everyone was shocked to see just how fearsome she could be in battle. I mean, she defeated two of Blue Pegasus' S-Class wizards with what appeared to be little effort."}

{"Yeah! Do you think it's possible that she could give Titania and the Ice Witch a run for their money as Fairy Tail's strongest female wizard?"} Loli asked in an excited, yet curious, tone.

{"Honestly, it's hard to say."} Yajima replied. {"No one has seen Ur act in years. Ever since she became the guild master. But Erza's reputation as one of the strongest, and most destructive, women in the kingdom isn't just for show."}

{"I suppose that's true."} Loli replied. He then raised his voice in excitement once again. {"Oh, and would you look at that! On top of the battles between Alfonzo Marcus, Yoruichi Shihouin, and Sui-Feng, Marin, Jenny, and kai, and Elicia, Tifa, and Aerith, there are more groups of wizards coming together in the town, as well."}

{"Yes, and from what I can see, Sun of Fairy Tail, Terra of Final Fantasy, and Kagura of Mermaid Heel are all converging on the town's central plaza."} Yajima explained. {"Oh! And it looks like Minerva of Sabertooth is still there, despite the rest of her team spreading out to different parts of the town."}

{"And if you look over there, you can see that Might Guy of Quatro Cerberus and Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki of Blue Pegasus will be running into each other at any moment, as well."} Loli added excitedly. {"But, before we get back to telling you about all the wonderful battles and magic being used, why don't we take a look at how the scores have changed so far."}

With that, an overlay appeared in the corner of every screen. And that overlay displayed the overall scoreboard for everyone to see.
