Chapter 110: FTRJ: Chapter 110
He'd rather believe it was all a terrible nightmare.
Finn quickened his pace, instantly closing the distance to Nothingness, his blade, Raging Fire, a blur of motion.
"AAAAAH!!" Nothingness screamed in agony as deep, bone-deep wounds appeared across his body.
Yet, not a single drop of blood flowed; the intense heat instantly vaporized any bleeding.
Nothingness was at a loss for how to retaliate; despair had completely consumed his mind.
"This ends now. You and your precious Nirvana will vanish together!" Finn's blade sent Nothingness flying with a powerful strike.
"You… you intend to completely destroy Nirvana?!" Nothingness, sensing something in Finn's tone, let out a terrified roar.
"Impossible! Impossible! This is Nirvana, capable of supporting an entire city! Such a massive structure cannot possibly be destroyed!!" Even as he lay on the ground, Nothingness continued to shake his head in disbelief.
"This is something that simply cannot be accomplished by a human!"
Finn stood motionless, Raging Fire held high. "I will. I will utterly destroy Nirvana, and I will shatter the delusions of you and your ilk!"
"Blazing Hell!!" The words, devoid of all emotion, echoed like the pronouncements of a god.
In an instant, the entire Whispering Woods was violently shaken by a terrifying tremor.
"What's happening?!" Carla, caught completely off guard, tumbled to the ground, her face etched with terror.
"Men, look! The ground is emitting a red glow…" Midnight, abandoning his usual posturing, pointed towards the fractured earth, his voice filled with alarm, as he witnessed the ominous red glow emanating from the cracks.
"That's…" Wendy gasped, her hand flying to her mouth in shock.
BOOM————
In the next instant, before the astonished eyes of everyone present, dozens of colossal pillars of fire erupted from the depths of the earth, encircling the entire Whispering Woods.
Each pillar was an astounding hundred meters wide.
And they reached impossibly high into the sky.
The dazzling flames painted the night sky a fiery crimson.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, what in the world is he trying to do?!" Lyon exclaimed, his mouth agape in disbelief.
The sheer terror of the spectacle was enough to leave a lasting impression on his mind forever.
"Finn… could he actually be trying to completely destroy Nirvana?" Lucy murmured, voicing the thought that was forming in the minds of many.
"Is it even possible?" Carla stared intently at the fiery spectacle before her, her eyes wide with a mixture of disbelief and wonder.
"These are the flames that incinerate all… this is the Sun God Finn?" Nothingness, his earlier madness replaced by a stunned silence, stared blankly at the towering pillars of fire converging around him.
He knew that everything was truly over.
The dozens of sky-piercing fire pillars continued to converge, their fiery embrace tightening.
Everything that stood in their path was annihilated, incinerated without mercy.
It seemed as if, within this apocalyptic inferno, all things would ultimately return to nothingness.
What kind of power was this? Nothingness couldn't comprehend it, yet he knew that the ultimate destruction he had always sought was being perfectly manifested before his very eyes.
The flames had completely enveloped Nirvana, and Nothingness's vision was reduced to nothing but the all-consuming inferno.
This had become a world of fire.
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM————
The flames that engulfed the heavens and the earth finally converged into a single, overwhelming conflagration. Everything in the vicinity began to burn, shattering into fragments before being reduced to ashes, and then ultimately vanishing into nothingness!
A terrifying explosion, echoing across the heavens, reverberated throughout the night sky.
An invisible shockwave swept across the entire area, sending a massive mushroom cloud billowing into the sky.
The very ground of the Whispering Woods began to crack and crumble, countless streams of magma erupting forth, transforming the earth into a fiery, crimson landscape.
"What kind of monster is this?!" Carla and Wendy clung desperately to a nearby boulder, the terrifying shockwave relentlessly buffeting them, their small figures tossed about helplessly in the air.
"That's Finn!" Happy, clutching onto Natsu's scarf with equal desperation, his cat-like face contorted by the force of the wind.
"This is incredible!" Gray shielded his head with both arms, desperately trying to avoid being struck by the debris that was being hurled through the air by the shockwave.
"Man, save me…" Midnight's oily voice cried out in panic.
The Blue Pegasus trio, struggling against the ferocious wind, managed to turn their heads, their eyes widening in disbelief at the scene before them.
They shouted in unison, "Mr. Midnight!!"
Midnight, caught in the violent winds, was being tossed about uncontrollably through the air, his square face repeatedly impacting the ground, creating a series of painful bumps.
After what seemed like an eternity, the shockwave finally subsided, and the towering mushroom cloud dissipated into the heavens, leaving behind an eerie silence.
"Nirvana… is gone…" Hibiki whispered, his body trembling slightly.
"Not just Nirvana… the entire Whispering Woods has vanished without a trace," Carla stated, her usually serious expression replaced by one of sheer horror.
The colossal form of Nirvana had completely disappeared, as if even the smallest fragments had been incinerated to nothingness, leaving behind only a vast lake of magma where it once stood.
"Altering the very landscape with his own power… perhaps only a monster of that caliber could accomplish such a feat," Lyon murmured in awe.
Erza, hands planted firmly on her hips, gazed upon the scene with a proud smile, her face radiating a sense of accomplishment.
"With that, it's all over. Wendy's guild is safe," Natsu declared, turning his gaze towards Wendy, his face mirroring her own relieved smile.
Meanwhile, Finn, standing precariously atop the only remaining intact rock amidst the devastation, scratched his head in mild annoyance. "I think I might have gone a little overboard…" he muttered to himself.
"Oh well, it was an official mission, so it's not like anyone will be complaining," Finn reasoned, deciding to dismiss the matter from his mind.
As for the state of the area, he decided to leave that particular problem for the Council members to grapple with.
After connecting to Hibiki's telepathic channel and confirming his location, Finn turned and left.
Upon returning to the assembly point, he was greeted with an outpouring of praise from the assembled allies, even gaining a significant number of new admirers in the process.
Of course, Wendy remained Finn's biggest fan.
Upon seeing Wendy again, the young girl, who had demonstrated remarkable growth and skill in combat during the recent battle, performed a deep bow before Finn.
"Thank you so much, Finn… thank you for protecting my guild!" she whispered gratefully.
It was a heartfelt expression of gratitude for saving her guild and for providing her with the courage to fight.
Finn, with a gentle smile, ruffled her hair. He knelt down to her level, his voice soft and reassuring. "This victory belongs to the entire alliance, not just to me. And Wendy, you played a crucial role as well, so…"
Finn rose to his feet, addressing the assembled group. "This is a victory we all share!"
Upon hearing Finn's words, the members of the alliance exchanged glances, their faces radiant with joy and relief.
The laughter and cheerful chatter effectively dispelled the lingering gloom of the recent battle.
Just as everyone was celebrating their hard-fought victory, a distinct sound of numerous footsteps approaching filled the air.
The members of the alliance exchanged puzzled glances, their gazes focused upon a group of individuals marching towards them, clad in identical uniforms and standing in perfect formation.
"Who are they?" Happy inquired, his voice laced with curiosity, as he hovered in the air.
"I am Lahar, captain of the Fourth Confinement Unit of the newly reformed Council," the man at the head of the approaching group announced, his voice firm and authoritative.
He then turned his gaze towards Finn, offering a brief greeting. "Mr. Finn, it's been a while."
"Huh? Do they know each other?" Lucy asked, her voice laced with surprise.
Finn nodded slightly. "We've met once before."
"What brings you here?" Finn asked, his tone polite yet firm.
Lahar's gaze shifted towards the figure standing beside Jura. "In order to uphold the order and justice of the magical world, we will not tolerate any acts of evil!" he declared resolutely.
"What does that mean?" Carla asked, her brow furrowed in confusion.
"Yeah, what does this have to do with us? We didn't do anything wrong," Happy added, his voice echoing Carla's sentiments.
Natsu, positioned at the rear of the group, visibly trembled at the sight of the Council members, his body wracked with a palpable sense of fear. After all, every time he encountered members of the Council, he invariably ended up under arrest.
"We are aware of that," Lahar acknowledged, nodding in response to Happy's statement.
"The purpose of our visit is to apprehend the members of Oración Seis. Therefore…" Lahar extended his hand, pointing directly towards the figure standing beside Jura.
"Please hand over the individual designated as Hoteye."
"Wait… wait a minute!" Jura exclaimed, rushing forward in an attempt to intervene.
As the individual who had spent the most time with Hoteye, Jura was acutely aware of Hoteye's current state of mind.
Hoteye, having been freed from the clutches of darkness, had provided invaluable assistance to the allied forces, offering crucial information and support. Therefore, Jura felt it was his duty to speak up if the Council intended to arrest Hoteye.
"It's alright, Jura!" Hoteye interjected, preventing Jura from continuing his protest.
Hoteye stepped forward, approaching Jura and bowing his head respectfully. "Even though I have reformed and sought redemption, I cannot erase the evils I have committed in the past. I wish to start anew, completely from scratch."
He raised his head, meeting Jura's gaze, his eyes filled with a hopeful longing for the future. "That way, when I finally find my brother, I can face him with a clear conscience. Truly!"
Upon hearing Hoteye's heartfelt words, Jura closed his eyes, and a gentle smile spread across his usually stern face. "If that's the case, then I shall gladly assist you in your search for your brother," he declared.
This was Hoteye's most fervent wish, a desire he had shared with Jura during their time together.
"Really?" Hoteye's eyes widened in disbelief and overwhelming joy as he looked at Jura. If this wish could be fulfilled, Hoteye would finally be free from any lingering regrets.
… … …
"Tell me your brother's name," Jura requested.
"His name is Wally. Wally Buchanan."
"Wally?" Erza exclaimed, her voice laced with surprise.
The moment the name was uttered, Finn and the others exchanged bewildered glances, their minds instantly conjuring the image of a certain square-shaped individual.
"Considering this, it seems quite likely," Finn mused, stroking his chin thoughtfully as he mentally compared the description of Wally with the image of the individual that had flashed through his mind.
Hoteye lowered his head, seemingly lost in a wave of memories. "Wally… he was truly a kind and honest brother!" he whispered softly.
He recalled a poignant memory: despite being desperately hungry himself, Wally had willingly shared his only potato with his older brother.
