Fairy Tail: I Can Hear Everything With My Unique Skill

Chapter 33: Finaly leaving Town

Days passed by without any action or excitement, leaving Akira utterly bored. While he had managed to take on a few more quests, they were nothing more than mundane tasks. He had filled his days with "adventures" such as watching over a child, performing a magic show for another, and helping an old lady clean her store.

"Sigh, I'm bored," Akira muttered, slumping over the table with the expression of someone who had lost all sense of purpose.

Laxus, sitting next to him and engrossed in a book, paused and glanced over. "If you're that bored, then go take on a mission," he said, his tone neutral but slightly amused by Akira's dramatic display.

Surprisingly, Laxus had picked up the habit of reading in his spare time, likely influenced by a certain someone. Once infamous for his dislike of books, Laxus now delved into autobiographies of famous lightning wizards. Of course, his reading habits had their limits—he wouldn't touch anything over 100 pages. Some things, after all, didn't change completely.

" But the missions I can take are mostly missions that don't require any fighting. " Akira complained while still not moving from his position.

" But can't you just spar with just anyone if you are that desperate for a fight? " Laxus asked with a frown.

" Yeah, but I need someone to test all the new magic ideas I recently had. And some of these are too dangerous for me to use in the guild, " Akira said with a sigh. This is his biggest problem.

{ A/N: from now on I will address Makarov as Master instead of President }

Due to Makarov's ban, he still couldn't take any quests that required him to travel into a forest or any dangerous places where he could test his magic at will.

"Stupid master, " Akira muttered under his breath.

Laxus, who heard what his friend said, just sighed and went back to his reading. He didn't know how to comfort his friend.

After all, he couldn't really lift the ban his grandfather put on Akira. And even in the case where he managed to convince his grandfather, the ban still wouldn't be lifted. This is because the one who is actually in charge of this ban is Sera.

Yes, it was Sera who had the actual authority to lift Akira's ban. As Akira's legal guardian, she had the final say in where Akira could travel.

So unless Akira is willing to rebel, he has to listen to what Sera has to say.

" Say why don't I accompany you? I'm sure Sera would be okay with it. After all, with me here, no one can harm you. " A third voice sounded as Akira and Laxus both turned to see Gildarts looking at them with a smile.

" You sure? " Akira asked with a raised eyebrow. Why did Gildarts become this friendly? This lazy uncle is someone who wouldn't bother to go to work on his vacation.

This sudden change made Akira very suspicious. Even Laxus, who went back to reading, paused just to look at Gildarts with shock.

" Yeah I'm kind of bored and wanted to stretch my hands a bit, " Gildarts said with a smile that fooled no one.

In other words, this guy was so frustrated by the fights he fought with Akira and Laxus that he wanted to vent on some poor soul.

Reading his thoughts, Akira confirmed his suspicion. This uncle is just wanting to go out to have fun and maybe flex a little.

Just as he was about to refuse Gildarts, Akira suddenly stopped. After thinking about this, his expression brightened up.

" Okay uncle, I will ask Master and get his permission, " Akira said as he dashed towards the bar where Master Makarov was drinking his beer peacefully.

'Since our dear uncle wants to show off, it would be rude for me not to set a stage for him,' Akira thought with an evil smile that fortunately Gildarts didn't see.

If he did, then he would run away as fast as possible. Every time Akira did something terrible, he always had that smile.

~ Magnolia Train Station ~

"Attention all passengers, please get seated. Train No. 25, which is stationed at platform No. 2, will depart shortly. " An announcement rang as Gildarts and Akira boarded the train.

Since this is his first time traveling on a train in this world, Akira was looking around like a curious child. Wait, he is a curious child.

Just then the train began to move. Akira suddenly felt a bit nauseous. No, he felt like vomiting.

'Shit, does the traveling curse also affect me?' Akira cursed inside his head. Since he didn't practice any dragon-slaying magic, he mistakenly thought that the curse of transportation that plagued all dragon-slayers doesn't work on him. Now it seems this curse is something every dragon has to deal with. Thankfully, he came prepared for such situations.

In a matter of seconds, Akira quickly activated his Take Over Magic and switched to Rimuru mode. And then he used his trump card.

[ Great sage, help me.] Akira screamed in his mind for his reliable partner to help him out of this misery.

With Great Sage's help, Akira began to feel the nauseating feeling slowly fading away. He breathed a sigh of relief. It seems he needs to make a magic tool for this problem ASAP.

He didn't want to be like Natsu, who would collapse every time he stepped into a vehicle.

" Hey Akira, what happened? Why did you suddenly activate your magic? " Gildarts asked after making sure no one saw Akira releasing his magic.

" Sorry about that? It seems like I'm not very good with trains, " Akira said briefly.

Gildarts frowned, not understanding what Akira was implying. What does releasing his magic have something to do with being train-sick? Although he wanted to ask for more details, seeing the ' don't talk about it ' look on Akira's face, Gildarts decided to drop the subject.

" So what is the mission you took from Master? " Gildarts asked as he looked at Akira with curiosity. Earlier in the guild, this brat kept the mission form a secret, saying that there would be no fun if he knew the quest beforehand.

Hearing his question, Akira grinned as he handed a quest form to Gildarts. Gildarts took the quest form and began to read it.

....

Mission: Defeat 3 demonic snow wolves that live in the Phoenix Mountains.

I am requesting the claws, pelt, and teeth of the demonic snow wolves for the purpose of crafting accessories. The better the quality of the said parts, the better the reward is.

Mission Rank: C

Client: Zelda Craftsmanship, Magnolia.

…..

"Hm, demonic snow wolves, huh? " Gildarts muttered as he rubbed his chin. As far as he remembers, those wolves are extremely cunning hunters who use their environment to their advantage. Their parts are mostly used as accessories for the nobility.

Although those wolves are not that strong but recovering their body parts without damaging them is very hard. Especially for him, who uses one of the most destructive magic. In short, Gildarts would be going for nothing, as he is pretty much useless if a fight broke out.

"You bastard, did you do this on purpose? " Gildarts suddenly asked as he looked at Akira. In this mission, only Akira would be able to flex as Gildarts would pretty much have to stay on the sidelines in case they didn't want to stay at Phoenix Mountains forever hunting demonic snow wolves.

Akira didn't say anything. But the grin on his face spoke everything Gildarts needed to know.
