Existence Is My Woven Tapestry

Chapter 15: Chapter 15: The Otherworldly Visitors

"My fellow citizens, there is no need for panic or worry!" Malcolm started off. From every desolate radio in the slums to the luxurious plasma walls of the elites, the information was present.

"We have endured through fire and fracture however the heavens have sent their saviours to deliberate us from this hell scape." Cheers of joy could be heard at Reynolds SafeZone however he was skeptical of it all. Something in his heart warned him of the new visitors.

The never spoke in the same language as them. Never once did they show any signs of fatigue or worry, they purged the lands of the Gorekins and Wretchlings without question. For them to execute with no payment, it felt too farfetched for him k believe that they did it out of the kindness of their hearts.

He had taken a closer look at one of the "angels" that had descended. They bore similar looks to them however their demeanor was a sharp contrast to theirs. It seemed that they had never experienced any form of worry or blight at the slightest and wore smiles.

"However..." The mobs of people cheering fell silent upon hearing this. "Some of us be taken to their world. A place with no fractures and no demons running amuck. They have offered to cleanse this world of the demons thus everyone will be saved. " Reynolds narrowed his eyes the moment he heard 'some of us.'

He knew in that list of 'some', that it would majorly constitute of the global elites. Those who had never known pain or worry in their lives. Those who lived in mansions filled with guards or bunkers where comfort and peace resided.

"But to ensure fairness, ten people from each camp will be taken to the new world." And just like that the broadcast cut off. It wasn't a consultation, it was information thrown to them and executed with or without their approval. Reynolds made his way to his tent now empty.

It wasn't just him who had lost those close to him. Woes and cries of anguish were present here and there however in his pain, he chose to remain resolute and endure through it.

*Back at Malcolm's Office*

The room was barely filled, the only ones present being Malcolm, Kael and the saints as the world saw them. By now their auras had resided and now they could peer at them. They bore similar looks to them however their eyes gave off a mysterious gleam urging him to stay at ease.

They were donned in saintly white robes with golden edges. "There are some of us who faced mutations due to solar flares. Such people are special amongst however with the emergence of the fracture, a plague came along with it and brought such individuals to meet their demise."

"However some were saved. I want to ask for your help in locating a single mutant. She is tolerant to the Fracture Plague and we think that she carries the cure to save the rest of the other mutants." Malcolm concluded as he looked at the saints.

They fell silent upon hearing this before one of them shot up. "We will help you track this mutant you claim down. However I hope that it isn't too much to ask from you this." Malcolm was slightly taken aback upon hearing this. So far they hadn't asked for anything but seeing how they helped turned the tides opted to hear them out.

"We ask of you to have those coming to put world be of the best, right in knowledge and skill. Also carry what you require to duplicate your technology. A fitting deal don't you agree." The one that seemed to resemble the leader shot up. His hair golden along with his irises.

"That's a fine deal." Malcolm smiled at the offer before the two shook hands. "You wouldn't mind showing us these mutants. Maybe we can be of help somehow." The leader went on. Kael narrowed his eyes, his guts questioning the true intent of the visitors but couldn't voice it out.

Reynolds had lost his position because of incompetence and if he were to face the same fate then he would miss the chance of escaping this hell scape. "Sure."

And with that the party of visitors split. Some heading back into the fracture for reinforcements while others went to Darius' bunker in the alps. A select few giving chase to Crimson and Solon.

'Finally I'll finally catch you Crimson. It was only a matter of time.' Malcolm plotted in his head unaware that he wasn't the only player in the game. Thinking that he was a player, he remained blissfully unaware from the visitors viewpoint that he was merely a pawn. Someone to use for resources and information.

"Arghh!" The ear piercing snarl of a Wretchling ran through her ears before it met its cruel end. It was Crimson who was navigating a now desolate and ruined techhub. She had heard of the visitors that had descended and how they planned of saving this world.

She hadn't interacted with Solon yet thus she kept on going, now headed towards one of the SafeZones not to blend in as guards present would recognize her in an instant but have a peek herself. She had traversed the world and made a full loop back to her home country while Malcom had his interest overseas chasing her shadow.

She would attack convoys of trucks for rations. Never taking too much, only enough before relocating. Raids on ration trucks were a common feat as stray humans would scavange for resources such as food and water and presented with such an option couldn't turn it down.

Before he could take another step, her body froze as she sensed multiple figures behind her and looking at the source she saw multiple beings floating above her. From what she had heard about the visitors, what she saw was something the world had missed. She saw through the veils they wore and met with cynical smiles.

Unlike the ones shown from the broadcasts, these ones were vastly different. The air around them wasn't calm or peaceful at the slightest but thick with malicious intent. "The mutant immune to the Fracture Plague, how did you come to be?"

One asked not expecting an answer, another extended their arm at her. Her intuition told her that it was an attack and hurled her crimson shards at the party of four above her. A light chuckle rose before a hazy blue barrier enveloped them all.

The blood broke through the barriers with ease and gouging one of them, claimed one of their lives on the spot. He fell from the sky akin to a bird shot and crashed with a hard thud to the ground. The remaining three were baffled at the sight as they dodged the shards.

"It would seem that you're more powerful than we had anticipated but nothing we can't handle!" A huge glyph formed above her. Her instincts told her to run but the pressure that pinned her down to the ground. Like a cockroach she was held in place, unable to move as she felt her mind was choppy.

It felt as it was being teased and pummeled till she fell unconscious and yet she didn't making the experience all the more painful for her. "You're not affected by my skill? Hmmm, it would seem that there's more to you than we had initially thought."

*Crack*

The ground beneath her was lifted into the air like a tray with her as the contents along with their dead comrade before the three walked through a nearby fracture and vanished from the face of the earth.

"Why does he get to go?" An agitated voice rang, directed at Reynolds who had been chosen by one of the visitors. Even he was startled that he was picked however instead of the joy and glee the others felt, he felt as if he was nothing more than livestock. 'It would seem that only people between the age of fifteen to thirty five have been selected. All healthy too.'

He felt as if a slave handpicked and sold off by the nation that he had devoted his life for. While some were anticipative of what was to come, he was fearful but extremely bitter. He had given his wife and son a fitting burial but he didn't want to leave them behind.

However the pain and anguish inflicted to him in this world was too much and it would have been better to forget it all together. "That will be all. We will choose another ten people next week." Along with the other nine, they were guided through the fracture.

Time felt thin, their movements sluggish with some complaining about migraines and epilepsies from the colors. Reynolds held himself from wretching as a thin barrier was cast over them to help them endure.

"I can't trust these people. What makes you so sure that they won't conduct experiments on these mutants." Darius barked, his face filled with skeptism and anger. Behind Malcom was Kael who tailed him like an obedient dog alongside the visitors who throughout had remained silent.

"They won't. Trust me Darius. They'll help them. They've already volunteered to help track Crimson for us and bring her in. Now step down or will I have to put you down?" Malcolm's face stern, ready to take any action to get what he wanted.

Darius' eyes gleamed golden as he wanted to ward off Malcolm but given his position, he couldn't act against the head of state. His fingers bore into his palms before letting out a deep sigh of acceptance. "Just don't hurt them." And with that he took his leave into his office underground.

Malcolm adjusted his tie as he led the visitors to the mutants who were puzzled. One of them mutants spoke however Malcolm nor Kael understood to which another responded. "Can you give us a demonstration of their capabilities as you had originally pitched?"

The leader mused which was shortly followed with a theatrical from the mutants. Darius felt as if he was sold like a chip for Malcolm's gains whatever they were as he watched it all unfold through the cameras. The visitors conversing in their own language seemed thrilled with what they saw.
