Chapter 7: Chapter 7
"Nina. What's wrong with you?" The flower shop owner saw Nina limping, and he hurriedly ran over to help her.
"I'm sorry, boss. I'm a little uncomfortable and want to go home first."
Although he didn't know what happened, seeing the tears on Nina's face, he didn't ask much. Turning back, he handed her a bouquet of sunflowers: "Cheer you up a bit."
"If it's work, thank you, I'm fine." Nina laughed loudly. She took this bouquet of sunflowers and walked out onto the street.
The weather was very good, the temperature was moderate, and the bad mood from before was quickly washed away by this warm air. Putting on the phone's earphones, there was harmonica music, it was her favorite sound. If it was before, when she encountered such a thing, her first reaction would be to call Adrian to complain. But now she wouldn't do that anymore because she didn't want to live off Adrian, she wanted to be able to build her world. So when Adrian wanted to find a maid, she didn't need a maid.
Nina found a bench and sat down. The pink shirt and tan pants seemed to be surrounded by sunlight, she was like a weak tree, but it was that weakness that made her charming, cool, and moving. Five meters away, through the car window, Leonard sat in the car and looked at Nina. This woman seemed like he had seen her somewhere before, suddenly the mobile phone rang violently. The secretary called to say that the selection of child actors to act in commercials had reached the final round, inviting him to come and see.
Leonard came to the hall, he only looked for five minutes and left, the assistant followed anxiously, he knew that these children did not meet the CEO's requirements. But what could he do, because the last time he saw that child, there was no trace of him? "I remember, about this matter, last time I told Harry to pay attention. I don't want the children to come here to perform, I want them to be able to show the pure life that is growing." Leonard looked angry and said loudly, "This city is so big, can't you find a child?"
"Listen carefully, if, within a week, you still can't find one, then you don't need to come to the company anymore."
The assistant's hand trembled, and the documents in his hand fell to the ground. Isn't this making things difficult for him?
---
In a flash, it was already late afternoon, and because her leg hurt, she couldn't ride a motorbike. Nina could only walk to the kindergarten to pick up Lucas after school.
"Mom." Lucas flew out like a little bird and ran to Nina. "Let's go home quickly. My friend said we'll be broadcasting live on TV today." What broadcast?
Lucas suddenly stopped talking as he remembered what happened last time.
"Mom, is your leg injured?" Lucas noticed that Nina had one leg higher than the other.
"It's nothing, just a sprain."
Lucas took his little hand out of his pocket and held her hand. "Is this better? Uncle Adrian said that the boy had to protect the girl. Lucas is a boy and Nina is a girl." Looking at his childish appearance and immature voice, Nina suddenly laughed: "Thank you, Lucas."
"Mom." Lucas suddenly wanted to say something but stopped. Since coming to this place, it seemed like there had been many times like this.
"Lucas, what's wrong?" Nina sat down and held his little hand.
"Mom, everyone here has parents, why don't I?" Lucas said in tears. Nina was shocked as if Lucas had hit her, the deepest part of her heart was touched, causing her to suddenly panic. She hugged Lucas to her chest, gently patted his little head, and carefully comforted him: "Lucas, be good, I am your mother, when you were in Canada before, didn't you also call me mother?"
"Lucas was Adrian's adopted son. Of course, Nina was also his adoptive mother.
"Mom." Lucas threw himself into Nina's arms and cried loudly. The sound was very sad as if he had been wronged. Hearing this, Nina's throat tightened and tears fell.
"Lucas, be good."
"Mom..."
Her head hurt so much.
"Don't cry." Every time Nina got agitated, her head hurt so much that it felt like it was about to split open.
"Mom, you're bleeding." Lucas held Nina's hand tightly. "I'm not scared, can I help you make a phone call?" Nina trembled as she took out her cell phone, and before Lucas could take it, she fainted.
"Mom, mom..." Lucas was so scared that he cried loudly.
Fortunately, it was after school and there were a lot of people coming and going. A little friend from Lucas's kindergarten recognized him and asked her parents to take Nina to the hospital.
"Lucas, is this your mother?" The little friend asked.
"Yes." Lucas's eyes welled up with tears.
"I thought this was your sister," The little friend admired.
Lucas laughed loudly.
In the hospital room.
"Miss, is your family here?" The nurse held the medical records.
"No." Nina raised her head and said weakly.
"Yes, it's me." Lucas pulled the nurse's shirt, trying to let her see him. The nurse smiled and touched his head.
"Yes, but you're still too young."
"It's okay, nurse. I know your illness very well. If there's anything wrong, just say it."
"It's like this, miss. We found out that there's a tumor in your head that's been growing recently, so are you going to stay in the hospital for observation or..."
"I'm fine, I don't need to stay in the hospital. I'll get the medicine myself."
"Mom, what's wrong with you?" Lucas climbed onto the hospital bed and caressed Nina's face.
Nina smiled faintly. "I'm fine, we'll go home in a bit."
Although she insisted on going home, the doctor suggested that she stay in the hospital overnight to avoid any unexpected events that could endanger her life.
