Chapter 458 Two-Faced Person
Jiang Shouzhong entered the room and saw the injured Zhou Zhilin.
The once handsome and spirited young man now appeared despondent and haggard, as if he had become a different person.
Upon hearing movement, Zhou Zhilin slowly raised his head.
When his gaze met Jiang Shouzhong and Jiang Yi, his face showed not a trace of fear or hatred, but instead revealed a look of surprise.
Especially when he looked at Jiang Yi, his eyes were filled with pure admiration,
"Miss Jiang, why have you come?"
Though Zhou Zhilin's voice was weak, he could not hide his excitement.
Jiang Shouzhong discreetly observed Zhou Zhilin, then gestured to Jiang Yi and turned to Sect Leader Jiang Chenghai, saying, "Sect Leader Jiang, may I have a word with you?"
Jiang Chenghai nodded slightly and gestured for Jiang Shouzhong to follow him outside.
Jiang Erliang followed behind, holding a puppy.
After everyone left, Jiang Yi lightly stepped forward to stand before Zhou Zhilin.
"Miss Jiang..."
Zhou Zhilin's expression was slightly anxious.
However, before he could finish, Jiang Yi's eyes suddenly displayed a strange crimson glow, like two rapidly spinning whirlpools, fixated on Zhou Zhilin.
"Do you know how your senior sisters died?"
Jiang Yi asked.
It was as if Zhou Zhilin's soul had been captured; his gaze became vacant, and he said mechanically, "They were killed by the Demon Mirror..."
Demon Mirror?
Jiang Yi furrowed her delicate brows, a hint of puzzlement flashing in her eyes, and quickly asked, "Was it not Jiang Erliang who killed them?"
"Jiang Erliang? The little girl beside Young Hero Jiang? Why would she harm my senior sister?"
Zhou Zhilin looked completely bewildered, his eyes hollow.
Jiang Yi leaned closer, her gaze locked on his eyes, her voice carrying a hint of pressure:
"Think carefully; I once punished your senior sister, and to avenge, you planned to attack Jiang Erliang, but were unexpectedly countered and killed by her. Do you truly not remember any of this?"
Zhou Zhilin shook his head vigorously:
"That's impossible; my senior sister would never do such a thing. Though some of my senior brothers were momentarily overwhelmed and harbored thoughts of revenge, they feared Young Hero Jiang's profound cultivation and dared not act rashly.
Moreover, I did persuade my senior sister at the time that we were at fault first and should wait for master to return to make a decision. My senior sister, being sensible, promised me not to seek revenge."
Jiang Yi was silent for a moment, then asked, "Where did you go after leaving the inn?"
Zhou Zhilin answered, "I was originally searching for my senior sister, but along the way encountered a small boy. Later, I realized he was the Demon Mirror in disguise.
He killed my senior brothers and sisters and nearly killed me. In desperation, I fled to Feiyan Cave and found my master and other senior brothers and sisters."
Jiang Yi slightly squinted her charming phoenix eyes and then asked the next question:
"Sect Leader Jiang said that the Jade Toad, which can restrain the Demon Mirror, was missing. Why did it appear in your room?"
Upon hearing this question, Zhou Zhilin's expression paused, showing some struggle, but ultimately he answered truthfully:
"Senior sister stole the Jade Toad to aid our cultivation. When I found out, I was both angry and anxious, angry at her foolishness, and worried she would face severe punishment from the sect.
In desperation, I hid the Jade Toad, intending to sneak it back to Mingjing Valley to mitigate the situation.
Later, during the attack by the Mirror Demon at Feiyan Cave, before losing consciousness, I instructed a senior brother who escaped to retrieve the Jade Toad from the inn and give it to the sect leader, fearing the sect leader would be unable to deal with the dreadful Demon Mirror without it."
"I see."
Jiang Yi pondered, some of her doubts starting to find clarity.
"Alright, rest well."
Seeing that no further useful information could be obtained, Jiang Yi withdrew her Heavenly Demon Technique and left the room.
As Jiang Yi departed, Zhou Zhilin's consciousness gradually returned to clarity.
"Strange, what exactly did Miss Jiang say to me just now?"
Zhou Zhilin looked confused, scratched his head, his eyes full of bewilderment.
He turned to gaze at the bronze mirror on the table.
Looking at the haggard, bloodless face in the mirror, the man's eyes darkened, sighed softly, and muttered to himself:
"In my current state, Miss Jiang probably feels disgusted seeing me. Moreover, she has Young Hero Jiang by her side. No matter how good I am, in her eyes, I'm nothing but an insignificant passerby."
At that moment, a piercing pain suddenly erupted in his head.
Zhou Zhilin clutched his head tightly, curling up in agony, letting out a muffled groan.
Since being rescued by the sect leader from Feiyan Cave, this inexplicable headache would occasionally occur.
More bizarrely, in the mirror, Zhou Zhilin, who likewise clutched his head in pain, slowly lifted his head, his eyes carrying a sinister sharpness.
The Zhou Zhilin in the mirror coldly stared at the closed door, his mouth curling into a mocking smile, murmuring softly, "Heavenly Demon Technique... is just like this."
He then looked at Zhou Zhilin, his eyes filled with disdain:
"What a coward; what good is kindness? Can't protect his senior sister or the woman he adores, only able to watch her longingly without daring to act.
Since you are so obsessed with that woman, fine, I'll 'help' you so you can fulfill your wish."
...
While Jiang Yi was using the Soul Capturing Technique to question Zhou Zhilin, Jiang Shouzhong and Sect Leader Jiang Chenghai went outside.
Jiang Shouzhong spoke:
