Chapter 452: The Witch's Thoughts Are Hard to Understand
When Jiang Shouzhong awoke, the room was still dim.
Subconsciously, he reached out beside him but found that Jiang Yi, who should have been there, was missing, leaving only a faint fragrance lingering in the air.
Jiang Shouzhong thought Jiang Yi had returned to her own room, but upon getting up, he saw that her shoes and stockings were still there.
And the window beside him was wide open.
Jiang Shouzhong understood something, threw on a piece of clothing, and with a swift movement, leapt out of the window. In a few bounds, he was on the rooftop.
Sure enough, under the moonlight as serene as water, Jiang Yi was sitting alone on the rooftop, hugging her knees, silently lost in thought.
The night wind brushed through her hair, as if she were an enchanting elf under the moon.
Jiang Shouzhong sat down beside her, his shoulder brushing against her arm, feeling a chill coming from her.
It was clear she had been there for a long time.
"You should have worn more clothes."
Jiang Shouzhong muttered under his breath, speaking as he took off his own clothing and draped it over Jiang Yi.
In the cold moonlight, Jiang Shouzhong noticed her red eyes and tear stains at the corners of her eyes that had not yet dried, indicating she had been crying not long ago.
Today, this woman cried quite a bit.
Of course, twice was genuine crying, and the "crying" in between was her body's way of crying.
Yet, he understood her feelings.
Despite her sometimes carefree demeanor, her feelings were more delicate than anyone else's. Once she encountered something conflicting, she couldn't stop her emotional upheaval.
Jiang Shouzhong wanted to comfort her with a few words, but didn't know what to say for a moment.
He raised his arm, attempting to embrace her shoulders to provide some comfort, but his arm paused in mid-air and ultimately lowered it slowly.
Jiang Shouzhong felt a mix of emotions inside.
Clearly, they were so close and intimate just now, yet at this moment, they seemed inexplicably estranged.
It was as if there was a thick, invisible barrier between them.
"Do you know why I agreed to sleep with you?"
Jiang Yi suddenly asked.
Her voice was soft, drifting in the night wind like a dandelion, ready to disperse at any moment.
Jiang Shouzhong shrugged, "I suppose you might want to leave."
Jiang Yi laughed, tidying the hair blown across her forehead by the wind, gazing at the gradually disappearing moon, "Do you think there could be feelings between us?"
"Well..." Jiang Shouzhong replied in a seemingly casual joking tone, "There should be, actually if we have a few more wedding nights, the feelings would deepen."
"Perhaps."
Jiang Yi's eyes showed a hint of confusion, murmuring, "People are always very contradictory, when they don't want to do something, they insist on doing it. When they want to do something, they don't do it."
She turned her head to look at the man's profile:
"Jiang Shouzhong, I'll ask you again, among the women around you, who's the most important?"
"You."
"That's not your true answer."
"But it's definitely what you want to hear."
"I don't want that."
"Really?"
Jiang Shouzhong turned his head.
The two of them looked into each other's eyes, seemingly exploring the answers in each other's hearts.
Jiang Yi was the first to look away, gazing into the distance, "I'm not a good woman, I'm a bad woman, if I tell you what I've been thinking these past two days, you'd absolutely hate me."
"Even if you don't say it, I know what you're thinking," Jiang Shouzhong said.
"Jiang Shouzhong!"
Jiang Yi suddenly raised her voice, glaring at him angrily.
She hated that he had such a tacit understanding with her.
She hated that this man could read her emotions, her moods, her thoughts.
It made her scared.
Though even she didn't know what she was afraid of.
Perhaps she feared she might fall for this man, or feared she couldn't live without him, or maybe feared she would enjoy the feeling of being around him.
Even when she was angry, she was still charming and attractive, like an intoxicating poppy.
Jiang Shouzhong pulled her into his arms, wiping away the tear stains from her face, smiling as he said:
"You not wanting me to find other women actually suggests that you're starting to consider being my woman, which is only natural. After all, jealousy is a woman's nature.
The more I show I understand you, the more you want to possess me, and the more you dislike other women. This is very normal.
If a woman openly says she doesn't mind sharing her man, there's only one possibility: she doesn't love him at all."
Jiang Yi listened intently.
Perhaps it was the first time she had so seriously listened to a man talk about feelings.
But then Jiang Shouzhong changed the subject, saying:
"However, I still hope you can be a bit more generous. Besides, you did witness my capability just now, you can't manage on your own."
Jiang Yi was taken aback, then flew into a rage.
She grabbed his ear, her face flushed with anger, "Who are you saying can't manage? Dare to go again!"
"Alright, then let's have another three-hundred-round battle?"
Jiang Shouzhong made a gesture of rolling up his sleeves.
Jiang Yi sneered, "Three hundred rounds? Two rounds and you'll be down, what nonsense. No need to go inside, right here, let me see your skills."
Jiang Shouzhong stood up, "Bring it on."
The woman, however, did not move nor quarreled further with him.
Jiang Shouzhong laughed softly, sighed lightly, sat back down beside her and said with a smile:
"Actually, you don't need to force your sister to come out this way. You've been here crying for half a day, and she didn't come to comfort you, which shows she really doesn't want to see you."
Jiang Yi took the initiative to hug his arm, resting her graceful head on his shoulder.
"Jiang Shouzhong, I'll ask you one last time, among the women around you, who do you think is the best."
