Evolving Monster in the Monsterverse

Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Wings of fate

Moonlight glinted over the beach where Mothra lay cocooned in a fragile sac of silken threads. Around this sacred chrysalis, ash and ruin painted the landscape in shades of grief, and stillness reigned.

Mark advanced with deliberate precision, every one of his twelve armoured eyes fixated on the inert form before him. He made no sound, offered no hesitation, only extended a tentacle to breach the shell. The cocoon snapped open under his strength, and he tore through the delicate layers as though unwinding history itself.

Mothra did not stir. Her wings remained silent. For this fallen queen, no struggle would meet her end. Mark consumed the chrysalis and then the titan, methodical and cold. He absorbed the essence without ceremony, storing the genetic echo for a future time of evolution; or perhaps ascension.

When only silence remained once more, the system notification chimed precisely in his mind.

[New Genetic Material Acquired: Titanus Mosura]

[Potential Traits Catalogued:]

[Ethereal Reanimation Cocoon (Lv 1): Can generate regenerative cocoons capable of complete restoration—even resurrection—without adverse mutation or side effects.]

[Psychic Resonance Hymn (Lv 1): Grants the ability to emit harmonic pulses that calm aggressive predators and harmonize neural patterns in nearby beings.]

[Luminescent Pheromone Nebula (Lv 1): Enables production of glowing pheromone clouds that attract or pacify surrounding creatures within a limited radius.]

Mark exhaled slowly, digesting far more than Mothra's flesh. He flexed his regenerative core and psychically checked the potential reserves now catalogued.

Then he turned his gaze to the churning ocean horizon, where a shape rattled wings against the sky.

Mark focused his gaze until his dorsal array—the Atomic Conduction system—charged with latent energy.

*Woom*

*Woom*

*Woom*

Ominous pulsing sounds preceded the sheer devastation of the blue atomic lasers that short from his eyes. They flashed through the silent water and burst through the molten flesh of Rodan's wing.

Rodan screamed a agony as one of his immense wings were torn and burnt. Bone splintered, tendons ripped, and skin boiled into radiated steam.

The molten creature crashed into the sea with a thunderous splash, leaving a blazing trail in his wake. Mark surged forward, tentacles slithering through salty depths, and ensnared the flightless titan.

He consumed Rodan's carcass with surgical intent, his barbed quills injecting fast-acting toxins even as he fed. When the act ended, only silence remained, save for the ocean's hungry whisper.

[New Genetic Material Acquired: Titanus Rodan]

[Potential Traits Catalogued:]

[Aerothermal Wing Regeneration (Lv 1): Grants ability to rapidly regrow damaged limbs with lightweight yet heat-resistant structure capable of flight.]

[High‑Altitude Pressure Adaptation (Lv 1): Enables survival and operation at extreme atmospheric pressures and temperatures.]

[Air‑Fire Resonance Burst (Lv 1): Allows emission of focused bursts of heated air or flame from respiratory pathways, useful in aerial or close-quarters confrontation.]

Mark would gain the ability to regrow wings… but no wings to actually use the ability on. But it mattered not.

He lingered at the surface, scanning the horizon with patient appraisal. Far above, storm clouds swirled around a distant colossal form; Ghidorah, the false king who had yet to know defiance of this magnitude.

Mark did not flinch. He did not roar. Instead, he bared his teeth.

He had eaten, he had catalogued, and now he would prepared the final battlefield. Mark slid beneath the waves, a silent shadow in predatory form, turning his attention upward; toward the day when he would face the golden hydra under storm-lashed skies.

[AN: Sorry for forgetting to write the chapters today. It's just been a really long day. Anyways, I will be releasing the second chapter of the day soon.]
