Evolto City: The Nexus of Eternity

Chapter 61: The I-Island Attack

I-Island Research Lab – Secure Testing Wing

The air hums with energy as countless diagnostic machines surround Nyxia, still in his massive monstrous form, casting a looming silhouette beneath the harsh white lights. Dozens of robotic arms and advanced scanners whir around him while a team of researchers monitor data streams.

At the observation deck, David Shield, wearing a pristine lab coat, stands beside All Might, arms crossed as he watches the readings come in.

David Shield (amazed): "This is incredible... His cellular structure is not even carbon-based. It's laced with an energy signature that doesn't match any known quirk or substance. Every molecule in his body is constantly rewriting itself and yet it maintains coherence."

All Might (scratching his chin): "Yes... he's not like anything I've seen. Even his aura... It's heavy, yet... focused."

Inside the testing chamber, Nyxia stands still as a scanner unit floats in front of him. It blasts him with X-rays, magnetism, even an artificial shockwave none of which seem to faze him.

David (scribbling notes): "His nervous system appears to be a complex blend of synthetic and organic pathways... No wonder he doesn't speak. His neural emissions are... decentralized."

Researcher 1: "Uh, sir? Test 47 just came in. We pumped in enough electricity to fry a power grid… and it barely registered as discomfort."

Researcher 2 (pale): "We also tried gas dispersal, extreme pressure, sound-based attacks, even simulated gravity collapse."

All Might (grinning): "And let me guess... he just blinked?"

David (rubbing his temples): "...He tilted his head. Slightly."

Suddenly, Nyxia's head turns, his golden eyes locking onto a small hovering drone that just entered the room. He extends a tendril at lightning speed and gently pulls it from the air, examining it like a curious child would a beetle.

All Might (chuckling nervously): "He's... uh... very perceptive."

David: "And curious. That means he's learning. Constantly. Every stimulus, every scan we're probably just feeding a very advanced AI-like brain more data."

As another machine attempts to test Nyxia's regenerative abilities by placing a tiny needle against his outer hide

Screeeeeeeeechhhkk (the needle snaps)

The surrounding scientists flinch.

Researcher 3: "...Nope. I'm not trying the next test. I like my limbs."

David (to All Might): "To be honest... this isn't just studying a being. It's like looking at a future step in evolution. His body doesn't operate on any Earth-bound law I know. He might not even need quirks."

All Might (glancing at Nyxia): "Then we have to ensure he stays on the side of good… because if he ever didn't…

"

David (serious): "…There might not be a countermeasure strong enough."

Meanwhile, Nyxia, still expressionless, places the drone back onto a table.

Inside his mindspace, Eon manifests beside him, shimmering with soft yellow light.

Eon (teasingly): "Felt like a science exhibit, didn't it? Relax. Just smile a little. Oh wait you don't have a mouth right now."

Nyxia (telepathically): …Am I dangerous?

Eon (softly): "You're only dangerous when you forget who you are. And right now? You're just curious... and a little annoyed."

After the exhaustive tests, Nyxia was escorted to a specially designed room—its ceilings towering, the bed reinforced to support his massive frame, and ample space for him to move freely. The room's lighting was soft and adjustable, designed to mimic the comforting warmth of Evolto City's twilight.

Nyxia settled onto the massive bed, the coarse fabric of the blanket unfamiliar but soothing. His monstrous form, usually so imposing, looked almost peaceful as he closed his golden eyes and slipped into sleep.

Later that night

Nyxia stirred awake, the silence around him thick and heavy. Rising, he stretched his massive limbs, then moved quietly through the dimly lit corridors. His footsteps were heavy but careful as he made his way to the banquet hall where his friends were gathered.

The hall was bustling with energy heroes and researchers mingled, dressed in formal attire adapted for this event. Nyxia's monstrous form contrasted sharply with the elegance surrounding him, but he quietly slipped into the crowd, unseen or unremarked upon by most.

The banquet hummed with light conversation and laughter, the clinking of glasses and soft music filling the air.

Suddenly

A piercing alarm shattered the calm.

WAILING ALARM

Red lights flooded the room, casting eerie shadows. Every monitor flickered and switched to a flashing red warning screen.

Announcements blared through speakers: "EMERGENCY LOCKDOWN INITIATED. ALL EXITS SEALED. REMAIN CALM. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.

Steel blast doors slammed with deafening force, locking down every exit.

From the ceiling, mechanical restraints shot down with precision, ensnaring pro heroes including All Might himself immobilizing them before they could react.

Monitors flickered and a chilling broadcast began

The villain Wolfram appeared on every screen in the banquet hall and throughout I-Island. His silhouette loomed large, a cruel smirk playing on his lips.

Wolfram (voice booming): "This island now belongs to me. You will hand over all classified technology and research. Your futile attempts at defense end here."

With a malicious flourish, he activated full lockdown mode, taking control of the island's entire security system.

Meanwhile, amidst the chaos

Izuka, Melissa Shield, and several Class 1-A students ducked behind pillars and equipment, avoiding the descending restraints. The restraints were calibrated only to capture licensed pro heroes, leaving students and others unscathed.

Melissa's face twisted in realization as she whispered urgently: "He's using my father's security protocols… the system's been compromised from the inside."

She grabbed Izuka's arm and pulled her toward the back of the hall, voice urgent: "We have to reach the central tower. The system can only be unlocked manually from there. If we don't, All Might and the others won't stand a chance."

Nyxia's eyes blazed with fierce determination as he saw the pro heroes trapped and helpless, including All Might struggling against the unyielding steel restraints. Without hesitation, Nyxia stepped forward, his monstrous form towering over the crowd, muscles tensing like coiled steel.

With a mighty roar that shook the banquet hall, he leapt toward the nearest set of restraints. His massive arms, covered in rippling muscle and coarse scales, smashed into the metal with a deafening crunch. Sparks flew as the thick steel bent and shattered under his raw strength.

One by one, Nyxia destroyed the restraints, freeing the stunned heroes. All Might, now free, let out a triumphant cry and nodded at Nyxia in respect and gratitude.

Meanwhile, Izuka, Melissa, and several members of Class 1-A sprinted toward the central tower, weaving through panicked guests and flashing red alarms. Their faces were set with determination, aware that disabling the lockdown system was their only chance to stop Wolfram's control.

Melissa's fingers danced across the complex control panel, her knowledge of her father's system crucial in bypassing security protocols. Izuka stood guard, eyes scanning for approaching threats, while the other students prepared for any sudden attack.

Back in the banquet hall, Nyxia stood firm, muscles still tense and ready to defend as the villain's forces began to breach the perimeter. The monstrous figure was a wall of living defense, protecting the newly freed heroes and guests alike.

Inside the Banquet Hall

The walls shook as the first wave of villains burst into the banquet hall, armed and overconfident. What they didn't expect was the monster standing between them and their goal.

Nyxia, towering and feral, let out a guttural growl as his tentacles flared to life, weaving like a chaotic storm. He leapt forward with terrifying speed, intercepting the first group. With a swipe of his massive claws, three armed intruders were flung across the hall like ragdolls.

Beside him, All Might, still weakened by his condition but burning with purpose, launched into the fray with a rallying cry. Though his blows lacked the full power of his prime, his precision and technique were impeccable, dropping foes with swift, bone-cracking strikes.

Ryukyu, Eraserhead, and several other pros quickly joined, forming a defensive wall around the trapped civilians. Gang Orca roared commands, coordinating the pros and pushing the villains back step by step.

Nyxia despite his monstrous size moved like a predator through the chaos. His tentacles snatched weapons from hands, crushed defenses, and protected allies. Every time a villain tried to flank a pro-hero or get close to the guests, Nyxia was already there, snarling with burning eyes and unyielding fury.

 Meanwhile, at the Central Tower

In the glowing nerve center of I-Island's security, Melissa's hands flew over the console. Sweat beaded at her brow as she bypassed line after line of her father's encrypted code. The power surge that Wolfram had initiated was complex clearly planned with inside knowledge but she was smarter.

Izuka Midoriya stood at the door, panting, bruised, but ready. Behind her, Momo, Kirishima, Shoto, and Tenya fought back enemy reinforcements trying to retake the tower.

Melissa finally slammed a final key.

Override code accepted. System unlocking. All restraints releasing.

With a chirp and mechanical hiss, monitors across the island changed from red to green.

At the top of the tower, Wolfram fuses with the Quirk Amplification Device and surrounding metal. His body mutates into a monstrous, spidery mass of iron limbs and armor.

David Shield, imprisoned in a steel cage, shouts in horror.

"No… I didn't design it to do this! He shouldn't have multiple quirks!"

But he does.

Metal Manipulation

Enhanced Strength

Possibly Regeneration

Given to him by All For One.

Wolfram looms as a massive, biomechanical titan, radiating red-hot energy.

Suddenly, Izuka Midoriya arrives, using her Full Gauntlet.

Right behind her leaping up from a crushed floor comes Nyxia, his body crawling with Void energy. Tentacles drip with glowing purple light.

All Might's eyes widen.

"You followed me? Heh. Good."

"He might be too big, but this arena won't last long anyway," mutters Izuka.

All Might, Izuka, and Nyxia begin a coordinated attack.

All Might draws Wolfram's attention with a Detroit Smash, battering through metal walls.

Izuka flips midair and slams into Wolfram's side with a 100% Gauntlet Smash.

Nyxia, still bound to silence in this form, attacks from behind his tendrils snatching pieces of armor and yanking down metal limbs, preventing regeneration.

Wolfram roars, sending a spiral of spikes across the ground.

Nyxia takes the hit, shielding Izuka. He slams into a wall but keeps fighting.

The amplifier flashes bright crimson.

Wolfram evolves into a titanic spider-metal monstrosity, now half-building, half-body.

He seizes David and Melissa, holding them hostage with twisted steel limbs.

The tower shudders. Wolfram begins tearing the whole platform apart to bury the heroes alive.

All Might groans, holding his side.

"Young Midoriya… Nyxia… this is it."

Izuka nods. Nyxia simply growls low, his golden eyes burning with Void.

Izuka jumps high, aiming downward.

All Might charges upward, bracing for one final blow.

Nyxia? He surges forward, grapples Wolfram's limbs, holding him in place at the cost of being pierced through the side.

Izuka: "100% Detroit Smash!"

All Might: "Detroit SMASH!!"

They collide with Wolfram from above and below, Nyxia anchoring the enemy in place, tearing off a limb with a final tendril whip.

The impact is colossal metal bursts, wind howls, and a golden Void-pulse explodes outward.

The amplification device explodes, and Wolfram collapses into molten debris.

The tower stabilizes. David and Melissa are freed.

Nyxia, heavily wounded but unyielding, slumps to the ground next to All Might who now reverts back to his skinny form.

Melissa hugs her father tightly, tears in her eyes.

"You saved me… and everyone."

All Might rests a hand on Izuka's shoulder.

"You're strong… stronger than I ever imagined."

Izuka blushes, holding back tears.

Nyxia, battered but alive, lays quietly nearby. Melissa walks up and kneels beside him.

"Thank you too, big guy. You didn't need to do that. But… you did."

Nyxia hums softly his only way to show appreciation.

As the sun dipped below the clouds and the jet sliced through the sky, the cabin was quiet peaceful, even. After the chaos on I-Island, the return trip felt almost surreal.

Izuka Midoriya sat beside the window, her forehead resting against the cool glass. The Full Gauntlet device lay next to her on the seat, scratched but intact. Her eyes were half-lidded, exhaustion tugging at her, but a small, content smile remained.

Across the aisle, All Might, now in his weakened form, gently sipped from a cup of tea. His cape was draped over his shoulders like a blanket. His voice was soft as he spoke:

"You both did well back there. I'm proud of you, Midoriya… And you too, Nyxia."

He looked across at the third passenger.

In the back section of the plane, Nyxia rested quietly on a reinforced, specially-made padded space. His massive form, curled like a great beast, barely fit. A small support robot hummed softly nearby, checking his vitals. He didn't sleep he never really did but his many golden eyes blinked slowly, tired.

Nyxia's claws still bore dents from the battle. One tentacle curled protectively around a metal shard what remained of Wolfram's amplifier. Perhaps he kept it out of instinct. Or perhaps… a reminder.

Izuka looked back at him.

"Hey, Nyxia… thanks. For saving Melissa. And for covering me when I froze up."

Nyxia blinked once slowly. A massive, low hum echoed from his chest in response.

"You're welcome."

That's how Izuka interpreted it.

U.A. Grounds – Night Arrival

As the plane landed on a private strip near U.A., Hound Dog and Principal Nezu were already waiting, along with a handful of pro-hero security.

Floodlights lit the tarmac. As Nyxia stepped off the plane, the ground rumbled slightly beneath his weight. Even now, some guards shifted nervously at the sight of him but Nezu, standing with his hands folded behind his back, gave a gentle smile.

"Welcome home, everyone. I've already received the full report from David Shield."

He looked at Nyxia and gave a respectful nod.

"You've exceeded expectations."

After brief checkups and scans, Nyxia was guided back to his specialized dorm wing—a vast space designed for his form. A new addition had been installed in his room: a large mural drawn by students, featuring Class 1-A, Nyxia, and several smiling stick figures labeled with names like Izuka, Bakugo, and Uraraka.

He stared at it for a long time, lowering his head.

Then, finally, he curled up in the corner. His body sank slightly into the cushions. The lights dimmed.

And for the first time in a while he rested.

[The dark room hums with a low, haunting thrum as tendrils of light pulse from the monolithic Blackmore Reactor behind Vidarath. It glows faintly, as if aware. The classroom-turned-lab is filled with eerie ambience, floating diagrams and broken chalk outlines orbiting Vidarath like planets around a deranged sun.]

VIDARATH: "Ah yes, behold! The mighty Blackmore Reactor, or as we lovingly and probably inappropriately call her: Mori. Why Mori? Why not?! She whispered it to someone once, and we just... went with it. Democracy in action."

He twirls, coat flaring, as floating holograms show blueprints of the reactor's internals chaotic swirls of gravity wells, psychic pulses, and weird cat doodles labeled "maybe relevant?"

VIDARATH: "You see, sweet little Mori isn't just a power plant. No no no. She's... a womb. She eats the waste of Evolto City oh sorry, I meant Evolto the Forever Expanding Planet-Sized Urban Sprawl With the Identity Crisis of a Hamlet and then, when she's all full of trash and regret, the other tubes kick in and slurp up her mass-energy output!"

He pokes one of the floating tubes with his pointer. It fizzes and emits a sad "whoop."

VIDARATH: "There are four tubes, class. Count with me. One to feed her your waste! And the other three? Oh, they harvest the exponential growth in her core. Because black holes, my darling ducklings, don't just eat they inflate."

A rumbling sound from the reactor makes the lights flicker. One of the students quietly scoots their chair back.

VIDARATH: "And here's the juicy bit! Around two billion years ago, she Mori gained sentience. Just woke up one day like: 'Hello, I'm a cosmic infant and I have thoughts now.' How? We don't know. Maybe it was loneliness. Maybe it was boredom. Maybe it was the psychic residue of a thousand flushed dreams."

He leans in closer, face half-lit by reactor glow, eyes wide and playful.

VIDARATH: "And now... she whispers to people. Engineers. Janitors. Children. Me, obviously. Sweet nothings like: 'You dropped your spanner, Carl' or 'They're watching you, Trevor.'"

He pauses. Silence. The room holds its breath. Then

VIDARATH: "Anyway, the Blackmore Reactors are scattered all around Evolto. Why so many? Because we're greedy little reality-benders, and infinite energy is kinda addictive. Also the author keeps adding more lore, so… hey!"

He points upward, breaking the fourth wall with a grin.

VIDARATH: "Also! Author? Yeah, you you. Why is it still called a city? Huh? This place is a continent the size of a god's napkin. Just rename it Evolto Prime: The Megaplanet! Or Civitatum Maxima! Or"

Static. Vidarath pauses. The spotlight returns to center.

VIDARATH: "But I digress. That, my dear class, is the story of Mori. A black hole baby with feelings. So next time you turn on a light, remember: you're siphoning power from an ancient, emotional singularity that may or may not be judging your life choices."

He clicks the pointer shut, bows deeply, and the classroom dissolves in reverse sparks as if time itself is laughing.
